Rn3p again or rn4x ? Or maybe mi5? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I have to buy a new phone.prices are nearly same so My main requirements for the new device are:
1.which one has more custom roms(i dont use miui), devs and is more future proof(oreo etc). I saw that mi5 developmet is very small compared to kenzo or mido so this option is down.(correct me if im wrong)
2.which one is better for gaming?(excluding mi5)

Gaming? Mi5>RN3>...RN4
Future development? RN4>Mi5>RN3
Current development? RN3>RN4>Mi5

Can you explain why do you think rn4 and mi5 will have better dev than rn3? And why do you say mi5 development will increase?

Since Mi5 is a flagship with Snap820, that is used by many other devices, in addition to Nougat MIUI 9 support.
RN4's sources are more updated compared to RN3, so less problems may happen during development. Add Nougat MIUI 9 to it
Mi5's development will not increase that much, it's the RN3's development that will decrease.

about rn4>rn3 devi see that devs like flar and franco are supportint this device. And for example s3 development is bigger than s4/s5...
So which one do you think its the best device overall and most future proof?

Any other opinions?

You compare a flagship with 2 mid ranges. If money isnt an issue, get the mi5 ( brand new i hope ). If you're on budget, get the RN4X, it already has a lot of nougat custom roms and higher chances to get oreo than the rn3. My next device will be the zenfone 4, worth taking a look over it

If you can wait a little bit, buy the RN5, should be released soon and according to the leaks the specs should be really nice.

Mi5 will be good choice considering the performace RN3 way better than RN4 in performance

Rn5 will be launched in 2018.
But if my main requirment is xda dev/roms support is still mi5 performance the way to go over rn3 ?

Rn3 is already running out of interest, you should compare the rn4x with the mi5 and, atm, the rn4x has more custom roms than the mi5, but i' go with the mi5 due to obvious reasons.

Running out of interest ? How do you explain that older devices are on top of los staristics...
Btw can you share the reasons why you would choose mi5 on top of the redmi notes?

Any other ideas?

I have RN3 and mi5 for a year now and imo rn3 is better. Also you can get two rn3 for the price of mi5.
I will buy another rn3 just for a backup phone, because it is such a good device with a small price tag.
And will buy later 2018/2019 when there will be better choices.
Personally I just like the looks of mi5, but it is less durable and worse battery, performance is great on both...

How it is in terms of development mi5 compared to rn3, are there many devs, roms? Are mi5 kernels and roms at least as stable as rn3?

Mi5 is a flagship, rn3 is a mid ranger. Most flagships from xiaomi still get updates to the latest android version ( at least the mi5 ), the rn3 is likely not to get official nougat update as the company already relies on the rn4x.
The mi5 triples the performance of the rn4x ( 64 and 128gb versions ). Camera wise is again better, even if the difference is not as substantial as the performance. Community development wise, both are doing great, if you want to focus just on the support from the community and spend less money, get the rn4x, otherwise there's no reason to pick the rn4x over the mi5.

I was wondering about the comaprision with rn3. I dont like rn4 worst of all 3 in terms of peformance +dev.
Just wanna hear your opinion on which device has more chances to last in terms of development/peformance for at least 2years (rn3 or mi5)?

No other opinion here?

I think the Mi 5 is the better option i did not try the phone but the camera & the performance is better it will definitely be updated to Oreo because Mi devices get two major updates & it's officially supported by [ The Paranoid Android Team ] so what else custom ROM do you need and overall it's a better phone but that's only my opinion

and are you 100% sure about the 2 major updates official?

Redmi 3 Pro Missing languages in International version?

Hi!
Just bought the 3g/32G Pro version of this phone for my wife, but, the International version don't give me a choice for Scandinavian languages. Is it possible to flash another ROM version?
Tried with the latest 6.7.28 MIUI, but can't change the language or locale, only the keyboard layout.

That sucks... I bought it aswell, thinking it was standart nowadays. Guess there is nothing to do about it, just have to wait until someone decides to make a custom rom including it
Global rom. are available. Have not tried it yet,I flashed it with ManhlT ROM .,
Sent fra min SM-T700 via Tapatalk
Global roms dont offer scandinavian languages either....Even worst you cant even chose our country as a location
You must try the latest dev to see if it has your language, also check the translate.miui.com (or something like that) to see the current percent of translation

International x global version

Sorry If i'm being dumb but i am considering getting a Mi A3 this week and i want to know If I can find out If its global or international right at the store?
I saw some have an extra simbol on its back like an C.E. what does It mean?
What is the diferences between booth versions? I Heard some dont run apps like Netflix and dont get OTA ... is that right?
Thanks
Global and international are the same thing.
The 2 versions are EU and Global.
The differences is the EU version respects European legislation when it comes to data protection and the like.
There is no difference. They are exactly the same. You can flash EU onto global and vice versa.
Global version receives updates slightly quicker than EU version also

Question Mi 11 Lite 5G (Japan Global >> Global)

Hi,
I bought a Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G off ebay which was advertised as the Global model but it appears i have the Japanese Global model instead (M2101K9R) whereas the actual Global model is M2101K9G. Would anyone know if it is possible for me to convert this over to the proper RKIMIXM Global ROM (M2101K9G) and keep my bootloader locked in the process by just flashing the fastboot ROM for Global? In other words i would like to fully convert it across to the global M2101K9G model.
i have read that flashing a Global ROM on a device for a different region can brick the phone if the bootloader is then relocked after flashing the Global ROM but wasn't sure if this was more in reference to going from the Chinese version of phone to Global rather then my situation which is going from Global Japan ROM to Global ROM.
I understand I can do this if I kept the bootloader unlocked after the flash but was hoping the bootloader would accept the Global ROM and would still work after relocking the bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
Seeing that i have my Mi account binded to my phone, i will wait another 90 hrs to be able to unlock bootloader and will attempt to answer my own question. Atleast when i relock bootloader after flashing the global ROM and worse case scenario it fails i can unlock the bootloader again and reflash the original Japanese Global MIUI for the device
dont risk your device and instead use "xiaomi eu", that way you can upgrade your device without the risk of locking the bootloader in the process

Hey, since you have the Japanese model, is the camera shutter sound always on? Even if you pick a different region for MIUI? I'm considering the Japanese model and am also curious if it would be possible to convert to Global, though like you said there's a risk of bricking so don't do it if that's a real concern. If you do try it though, let us know how it goes.
Good news, after unlocking my bootloader after 7 day waiting period i was able to successfully flash MIUI Global RKIMIXM ROM. Also relocked bootloader with Xiaomi Flash tool and the bootloader had no issues accepting global ROM.
it should be noted there's been alot of misinformation regarding unlocking/locking bootloaders and changing regions. As long as the first unlocking of bootloader was performed by your own MI account binded to the phone then after 7 day waiting period is over you can unlock/relock bootloader as often as you want immediately with no additional waiting period required. So if you have the issue where you're stuck in recovery after flashing another region ROM and accidentally relocked your bootloader in the process, it's no big deal as you just load phone into fastboot mode and unlock the bootloader again then either keep bootloader unlocked and flash whatever you want or download the proper ROM for your region then flash and relock bootloader again to be back to official stock.
Only thing is model appears to still be detected as M2101K9R in settings. Unsure if this will affect future OTA updates etc. Will provide update when i know more.

It can be muted by setting.(Any ROM/Version/Model)
Setting → Additional Settings → 'Region'
Japan or Korea = Always On
Other = Can be changed from camera settings

I ended up flashing back to Japanese ROM as realistically i had no issues with it. Was more curious to see if i could fully convert it over to Global ROM but it seems the model number as shown in Settings is hard coded perhaps in the bootloader or somewhere else and still displayed M2101K9R so i wasn't comfortable using the M2101K9G global ROM.
As for the camera shutter sound on Japanese ROM i just checked and there was a setting in the camera app itself (Camera>Settings>Shutter Sound) and you can toggle it off to silence the shutter sound.
Please, did you notice any difference between the Global ROM and the Japanese ROM? I mean in terms of settings, speed, battery etc.

I am a Japanese user using Mi 11 Lite 5G. The difference in hardware is that it is equipped with Felica, a near-range wireless communication standard developed by Sony. This is used in Japan for payments on public transportation and in stores. The difference in the software is that it takes a long time for software updates to be delivered. As the ROM is optimized for Japan, it takes longer to receive updates than the global version.
I also have japanese version but I am from México and I am using xiaomi.eu beacuse of the publicity from xiaomi stock roms, and it works flawless and felica is not used in my country so, I am fine, but... One friend of mine has the chinese global version and the cameras look sooo diferent, better in Jaoan version, even video 60fps has more stabilization. Just to say.

Question Can We Unlock WiFi 6E(6GHz) by flashing to EU firmware?

Can we Unlock the Support to WiFi 6E(6GHz) support on the Snapdragon 888 by flashing the firmware to EU version?
Like the default China MIUI firmware won't support 6Ghz when it's not enabled in China, but I don't know if there's 6GHz RF and Antenna which could allow us to flash the phone to EU version, then able to connect my new router which supports WiFi 6E(6GHz).
I couldn't unlock by EU fw. To unlock 6GHz, We have to use Custom ROM that MIUI based such as Xiaomi.eu and MMX, and set Wi-Fi region(on additional settings) to UK or South Korea.

As far as I knew, it's the Xiaomi12/pro which is using Snap 8Gen1 which has the 6G support for sure.
Then I can flash the MMX or Xiaomi.eu to Xiaomi12 to get it support 6GHz.
There's no clarification from Xiaomi.eu official support 6Ghz wifi so far...
I just searched on their forum, there's basically nothing there

My device (Mi 11) is global version. and I have 6GHz router. I hope use 6GHz on AOSP roms such as Pixel experience and Evolution X but it can't cuz can't change wifi region on it. Pixel 7 and 7 Pro support 6GHz for sure after Dec 2022 update. I want Xiaomi 12 but Xiaomi 13 will support Wi-Fi 7 soon.

Rest assured I am confident that 10T is not affected by any of these issues, been on Android 12 and 13 EU Beta.
