Hello,
First of all, sorry if it's not the right place but I don't know where a was supposed to post this topic
So I recently switched from OxygenOS (Android 6) to AICP (Android 7) on my Oneplus 2 but i have 2 problems :
1) I can't configure the slider on the left. I want it to be able to switch between normal mode, vibration mode, silence mode (which was possible on OxygenOS). Instead of this, the slider switches between normal mode, do not disturb and silence mode.
2) There is no vibration when a receive a notification, and i don't know how I can change that. (Apparently, this one is fixed)
Thanks for you help !

Hi guys, I just wanted to post a solution to a problem that I had with Cyanogen Mod.
The problem was that of my notifications not actually 'notifying' me. Instead I would get a text message and it would not vibrate and it would not ring or notify me.
It turns out the reason it does this is that quiet hours was enabled. I don't know why (maybe I accidentally enabled this option, or it was enabled by default in the ROM) it was enabled, so I disabled quiet hours (which is located in Settings -> CyanogenMod settings -> Sound -> Quiet Hours) and now my notifications are working perfectly.
So hopefully this will help you guys.
TL;DR: disable 'quiet hours' to fix your phones 'broken' notifications.
hello,
newbee here. I have acquire a sansung galaxy S2, and have a lot of fun with it.
trouble started when it rebooted at night. I figured out that some update or application crashes were the cause of it.
I think i rid of most of the issues, and got it pretty stable.
To avoid future complication, I even rid of the startup sound, but I can not rid off the vibration (especially the one when shutting down....)
I think it is part of the basic settings, and I did a lot of researches... no luck
Apps like Silent boot would not work either....
Do anyone know if it's even possible ?
If impossible, is ICS having the same issue, or can this be tuned ?
(i just can't believe no one thought of making that optional ...)
Please help me...
I'm on ICS and don't have that. It is part of system settings - sound. It usually is affected by the mode you have your phone set to (like if you have sound set to Sound and Vibrate or just Vibrate, etc). Try changing to just sound and see if that stops it from vibrating (or just silent mode with no vibrate).
Can also try to untick Vibrate on screen tap.
ICS is sweet... can't go back to GB... what you waiting for?!
Sorry, but this does not work (phone is rooted)
. tried vibration off no luck
. tried silent mode no luck
Is there someone who knows where is configured the vibration settings ?
I mean in which filesystem (full path if possible) ... ?
note: Official Samsung ICS for Unlocked Phones will come soon... unless there is a safe ROM and method to install it. For now I would concentrate on my Vibration issue.
Firstly, be patient. People will try to help you, doesn't mean the first answer fixes your problem.
As I stated... ICS does not have this problem. Phone makes no sound and no vibrate, if you set it that way on ICS.
How about give us more information. You said you're rooted but on GB. Are you using any different type of kernel other than stock? Like Siyah 2.xx?
As the filesystem where you can doodle with removing vibrations... I will leave someone with more experience to deal with that (even if I know the path)... in case I advise you something that can screw things up after.
*you might want to reset the phone - as the system notification/vibration settings should have done the trick.
hello
I upgraded to 4 versions of ICS.
Each one of them did not correct the issue : it still vibrate when shutting down the phone. (darkyrom, OCA, Pure and a "4.0.4" version having a clever 3 way option to launch (Nova, TW and Apex)).
I did not reset the settings yet but I will give it a go.
I will the thread updated.
That's a very strange bug then. The settings to control that though, is not with the launchers but with System Settings.
Maybe try this:
System Settings - Volume <inside there you have 4 settings. Try changing System to very low or all the way off. Then go to the whatever mode you have it set to (like Silent Mode or whatever)... and select Mute.
Then the lower categories of System... uncheck all of them: Keytones, Touch sounds, Screen lock sound, Vibrate on screen tap.
See if that works. If it does, then can narrow it down to one of those settings.
Thank you very much
The simplest things are not always obvious to the common....
It works, the vibration disappeared when /SOUNDS/VIBRATION SETTINGS/Vibrate on touch was set to the lowest. Meantime, the little vibration at startup disappeared as well. Now the phone can crash, update and reboot at night without waking me up ! .. a good logcat reader (just in case) running in background will help cleaning up when some error occurs....
Once again, thank you: that drove me mad.
Glad that worked. You're right, sometimes the simplest things are not always obvious, for everyone ;-)

I have chinese copy of Nexus One phone, android 2.2.1 and I don`t have VIBRATION SETTINGS tab in my menu, I can only turn vibrate on and off,
and I don`t have SOUNDS on SETINGS, I enter in AUDIO PROFILES to menage vibration,
how to turn off vibration on power on and off?
I am having this problem with my phone. Every time I set the phone ring volume, after a while (30-60 minutes) I suddenly hear my phone vibrate and then it automatically on its own goes into silent mode with silent icon appearing in the top bar. It is very annoying to keep checking my phone to see if it has not gone into silent mode.
Any idea what may be causing this. I cannot find in anything in the settings to enable or disable this.
please help!
I am getting tired of my phone automatically turning the ringer off and going into silent mode after emitting a short pulse vibration (like in notification) while sitting on my desk every few hours.

got this tip from an user on Android Central:
There is a settings tweak in the Power Save mode to toggle vibrations. I think the default is no vibrations.
I will give this a try now.

Thank you for the tip. I want to say that I love this phone....however, given its rounded back shape, the vibration was especially loud and annoying. I had been looking for ways to disable all vibration but didn't realize the power saving mode was the culprit. Now, I wont jump out of my chair every time I get a notification. Thank you again for putting my nerves at ease!

i figured out what the issue is - an app called Onavo has been changing the ringer profile to silent whenever mobile data is becoming active. uninstalled the app and it works like a charm.
good job
Its mostly caused by power savers. just uninstall apps you suspect one at a time
Hello Team ,

I am facing the below problem :
My phone automatically went silent mode. i faced these type of problem since 1 week .
If any one face the same problem , please help me to solve the concern.
I am currently having this same issue with my U11. It`s very annoying when I miss calls and notifications!!!!!
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with default keyboard on Nexus 5.
Looking for at least easily accessible toggles. I prefer the default behaviour except at night. Already scheduled priority mode. This one I'm expecting an answer for. Thanks.
I never use stock roms, so am not sure of the normal set up, but isn't there a Do Not Disturb toggle in your Quick Settings? If not, you should be able to activate it with the System UI Tuner as described here:

Like I said, priority mode is already set. I'm specifically looking for an easy way to disable and re-enable:
Dial pad tones (unnecessary, but in the same settings page)
Charging sounds
Touch sounds
Vibrate on touch
Sound on keypress (different settings page)
And maybe media volume (can easily do that, but combine it with the others and it'd be great)

I understand what you are asking. When I turn on the Do Not Disturb mode from the toggle in my Quick Settings on the Nexus 6 on 6.0.1, it turns off all of the sounds/vibrations that you mentioned. I am running a custom rom, but pretty sure this is the default behavior.

Meant vibrate on keypress, not sound on keypress. Thanks though, never knew total silence worked like that (actually never tried).
Actually, totally forgot I set haptic feedback as one of the buttons on Notification Toggle by j4velin... That and always on screen are the most useful features of it I'd say.
And disabled keyboard vibrations, didn't really like it in the first place. Question solved!
Hi,
I recently flashed OmniRom on my OnePlus 3T but the notification led gets disabled every time I switch to DND mode. There is currently no option in OmniRom to prevent this from happening. Is there any way to reenable it somehow?
I found out you can change the led brightness by changing the value inside the /sys/class/leds/red/brightness file for example. In this folder is another file 'trigger' which - to my understanding - lets you configure when the led should be turned on.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to completely enable or disable the led specifically for notifications.
I would like to use tasker to write to some file using root permissions to enable the notification light every time the phone switched to DND.
Could you help me find out how to do this? Maybe there is another way to achieve what I'm trying to do but this is how far I got.
