hello there,
today i received an iphone and i want to transfer my contacts to it, i think the best way is to use Google contact sync.
Unfortunately my old android phone is broken and sent to trash. But i have backed up my contacts2.db to my computer, do you know if there a way to transfer my contacts to Google contacts without using a phone ?
there such tools available ?
thanks much :good:
Hello!
I have the Samsung Galaxy SII - GT-I9100 model, running unmodified Android 4.0.3 and whenever I make a change to any contact on my phone (it's marked as a Google Contact, btw), it stays that way until I synchronize my account with google, when the contact will then be reverted to the way it is on Google.
I have no idea what's wrong and it has been like this ever since I bought the phone. If I go to my Google account and change a contact through the web, my cell phone will sync and bring the changes from the google server, but the opposite (pushing changes to the server) won't happen.
All my contacts are orgnized and stored in the "My contacts" group. My contacts application is showing only the contacts on the google account, so there's no conflict with any contacts that might be stored locally on the phone (I've deleted all the phone and SIM contacts just to make sure nothing like that gets in the way).
I'd appreciate any help you guys could provide. I'm not willing to root or install any other ROM on this phone, I'd like to keep it stock for several reasons, warranty being one of the most important.
Thank you very much!
I just updated the Android version to Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and uninstalled any contacts manager I might have had (Go Contacts Ex) and tried again, but to no avail.
Anyone else with the same problem? Does this have anything to do with the "My Contacts" group on Google Contacts? All these contacts are stored in that group. I haven't changed since I organized all my contacts when I bought the phone.
If anyone could help, I'd pay you a beer (or a dozen, perhaps).
Thanks!
This thread is probably dead by now, and i'm not sure if anybody has figured out a solution to this issue. However i did find an intermediate solution with an app called "InTouchAPP" available in the playstore. It is an alternative solution to going through google's server in saving contacts. It integrates seamlessly with your phone, and you sign up for a username and password so you may never lose your contacts again.
I was having an issue in which i would save a new number and name it. Seconds later the name of the number would disappear. I tried going to directly to gmail.com and adding a contact and it would work. My only explanation was that my phone was not pushing information to the google server however google server was constantly overriding any new numbers i added on my phone.
If anybody has a better solution please share.
Best Regards,
Jonathan

how you lost it?
did you sync your contact to gmail?
How did you lose them? Did you root? Did you factory reset? If they were saved on the phone and you lost data then they're gone I'm afraid. If they were Google contacts, just re-sync your Google account to the phone.

is easy from your google account, there are stored and can be retrieved easily.
You can recover your contacts via your Google Account or by your Sim Card. This requires you to have saved your contacts on your Sim.
Did you change what contacts are displayed and actually didn't lose anything at all?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app

If you have signed in your Google Account on your Android phone then you might still have a chance to sync them bacn from Gmail Contacts.
Otherwise if unfortunately you also lost contacts from Google Account then I will suggest you to use Myjad Android Contact Recovery.
Searcf more info from Google.

I also met the same problem, I need to restore my deleted contacts from my HTC one, any suggestion?
Some people may accidentally delete their contacts from Android. How to get those important contacts back? When you deleted contacts from Android, they were not really gone, but only marked as useless on your phone and could be overwritten by new data. Therefore, you'd better stop using your phone after losing your contacts, to ensure a higher rate of recovery. Format the SD card carelessly, accidentally delete some perfect family photos, pictures suddenly become inaccessible.... Things like this happen occasionally. So many people wondered is there a way to restore deleted or lost photos from an Android phone? Actualy, If the card is not physically damaged, you can get them back without any quality loss.

Yeah , more and more people want to know how to recover deleted data from Android , in fact , we should try to reduce the use of mobile phones , if the data has been covered by other new data , to recover data can be very complex .
There is an articles that you can learn how to restore deleted contacts from Android phone .
The faster they recover, the more likely they are to recover .
If you sure your contacts are not overwritten with new data, you can use a useful recovery tool--RecoveryTool Android Data Recovery. I often use this recovery tool to help my family or friends recover their lost contacts, pictures, files, etc. So,I think you can have a try .
I went into a T-Mobile store today and everything was wiped from my Samsung S8+. They did a back up to google drive but they didn't know at the time Google Drive only backs up contacts, pictures, and media files such as pdfs, word docs, ect. I need to get all my text messages back, notes (it was in the Samsung Notes app which I didn't have attached to a Samsung Account), and voice memos. I also was told my calendar wasn't backed up because all the appointments must have been on the phone memory and not in my gmail calendar. I have no idea of what my schedule is because this was the only thing I used to schedule all my clients for my business. I have tried talking to Samsung, Google, and even T-Mobile tech support but no one can help me. I figured if anyone could find a way to recover lost data someone here would know how to.
Thanks for reading and I hope someone can think of a way to recover my lost data.
Hello, I hope this is in the right forum section and someone can help me with this:
My end goal is to retrieve an old Steam account I've last logged into about five years ago.
I won't bother you guys with all the small details. Lets just say I tried everything possible to retrieve this account (contacted Steam support, support of the email provider etc.) but all this did not help with my problem.
I remember the email adress but not the password to it and also not the username to login to Steam. I do remember though that I have given the login information to a friend over Whatsapp to lend him this account. The problem is when I started up my old phone I did this on, it logged me out of the Whatsapp account I used at the time so I cannot just read the messages directly from Whatsapp. Now I want to decrypt the chat backup file but don't have the key file because the phone is not rooted. And if I root the phone to have access to the key file, everything will be wiped from the phone.
Is there ANY way to read these old messages so I can finally get this Steam account back?
I will provide further information if needed. Thanks in advance
