Hi All,
My phone was originally a T-mobile but it was bricked during the OTA update. The imei is registered on Tmo website.
It was showing qualcomm 9008 on the computer and I couldn't turn it on at all. I disassembly the phone and found it's a vs990 board.
So I download the kdz file of vs990 and flash it with QFIL with an intention to fully flash it again using LGup.
The initial flash with QFIL is successful but then I can't really get into the download mode, instead the screen seems lightly turned on but still nothing on it, no download mode display and the LG up showing "unknown" under the "model". I've try several LGUP_common.dll file with no luck.
When I try to re-flash it using QFIL again, this time it's always failed even I've try it several times using vs990 kdz and even h901 kdz with the test point reset.
And when I try to simply turn it on, the LG logo will appears and stuck on that. It seems not really like the ILAPO bootloop since the display keeps turned on.
Any suggestion perhaps? Is there anything I can do?
Thank you

Hey folks,
its bricked due to FOTA (I think it stands for: firmware over the air) update. This means the phone downloads a firmware update without computer connection or further PC-Software. Alas it didn't work.
Situation:
Phone starts, displays LG Logo and after that an 'updating firmware' screen for about 1 sec before rebooting and doing it all over again.
What I tried to solve this:
set up a new Win 7 32 bit machine to try to unbrick it. (drivers didn't work correctly on 64 bit) at least the MCCI driver update didn't)
connected the phone with the PC in Emergency Mode (holding VOL_UP + VOL_DOWN + PWR while USB is connected)
downloaded B2CApp (LGSupport Tool) and installed the device drivers for Emergency mode.
disabled the Android(Modem) dirver
downloaded V10D_00.kdz from LG home page
using the phones IMEI and this link:
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEI_NUMBER_GOES_HERE
This gave me this link
http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGE720/ADEUBK/V10d_00/V10D_00.kdz
I'm German so this seems all right, but I'm no expert
installed msxml
ran KDZ_FW_UPD_EN and tried CDMA in CS_EMERGENCY Mode
A bunch of magic happend until the phone restarts during the process and is right back where we started, if I put it back to Emergency Mode while KDZ_FW_UPD_EN is still running the process finishes, but to no avail.
The log of this try is attached.
Where I am stuck now:
phone:
runs in Emergency Mode
is recognized by KDZ_FW_UPD_EN as well es LG Support Tool
Flashing via KDZ_FW_UPD_EN finishes
Flashing yields no result.
What else did I try
download V10C_00.kdz, as well as V10A_00.kdz from LG site and tried those with same result as with V10D_00.kdz
tried 3GQCT Type instead of CDMA
Wild guesses by me:
I need a different KDZ_FW_UPD_EN version, maybe different dll. I got it from here somewhre in a LG P500 related topic.
I messed up the driver install or need a different driver
LG hates me personally and planted this whole brick specifically to get to me.
The device really is permanently bricked, so I did all I could and there is nothing more to do? That would be sad, I hope I'm wrong here.
Additional Info:
The phone is not rooted and has never before been flashed. It ran with the same stock firmware since it was unwrapped.
The phone was not interrupted by power-loss during FOTA update.
The [read phone information] tool from KDZ_FW_UDP_EN crashes every time, maybe this tells somebody where things go wrong
Any help is appreciated. Ask for more info, if you need it.
Update - What else did I try:
I got the LG Support Tool to flash the Emergency Recovery all by itself runs till 99% --> reboots --> still stuck in same ol' bootloop
reentering Emergency Mode from the bootloop makes the Emergency Recovery finish with 100%, no error, but still bricked.

Hi,
I need the LGAS323 firmware kdz file(which i have not found). I've been trying with the MS323 kdz through the LG flash tool but it doesn't work(error).
So this is what happened:
I tried to install CWM recovery after unlocking boot and installing fastboot. So after all that I put the command to start transfering the cwm file and the phone got bricked. Now it doesn't even show up the LG logo. It just power up the screen which people call "purple screen" or black... It vibrates one time whenever I connect it to the PC or push the power button.
This is what I've tried:
I have tried all methods I have found on forums and YouTube. I tried with Linux on the terminal fixing the aboot.img and also on PC with the LG FLASH TOOL and other apps but nothing works. Folks help me with this please. I think the only thing that would fix it is using Jtag or something like that you know the boxes(riff, octocplus...). But without the exact firmware it wouldnt work anyway.
Any expert here?
Thanks.
The phone wont go into download mode! BTW.

my phone model H901 21j
same issue . ihave h901 running on 5.1 update it via lg up to 6.0 20e then its bricked . pc read it as qualcom hs-usb 9008 . any help/ solution
Is there a reason this thread has been ignored? I also have a LG V10 H901 21J MM/6.0 stock firmware.
I have not as of yet flashed a .tot file to it, because I am not sure that the .tot files for other H901 phones is correct. I have heard different things, regarding this particular version, which I have heard is a Korean version of the phone, I am not sure if this is applicable or true, but apparently this may mean the phone has a different board than other H901s out there.
What I can say for certain is that I was unable to unlock my bootloader, due to the inability to reach Fastboot/Bootloader moder from this phone using any of the normal methods which work on my other LG V10 901. The procedures I have followed to get into Fastboot/Booloader mode are: (a) Shutting down phone; --> Pressing Power-Off, and Volume Down at the same time, holding for 5-6 seconds after the LG screen appears, which just causes the phone to boot normally, (b) running <adb reboot bootloader>, which again just boots normally, it does not go into the bootloader/fastboot mode; and (c) Power down /turn off the phone, once off, hold down Volume Down, while you plugin a USB cable into the phone(that is already plugged into a computer with good drivers on the phone), continuing to hold down the Volume Down until you reach Fastboot, again same results and this does assume that the USB cable is plugged into a computer with good drivers.. Just for the record for the methods listed that involve having the phone attached to the computer, I have tried this with the phones USB in both Multi-Media Mode, and PTP mode, without a difference being made, and it should be mentioned that I have successfully performed all 3 methods on my LG V10 H901 20L running stock MM, which was successfully rooted using the Dirtycow exploit. Yes, debugging is enabled on the phone, and although it does not effect getting into Fastboot mode itself, OEM UNLOCK is enabled.
If I could get into Fastboot on this phone, and get it unlocked, then I should be able to use the Dirtycow exploit in order to get temporary root, that would of course allow me to then flash TWRP recovery directly to the recovery partition, and solve the issue.
rabahallia I know that this is almost a year late, but can you tell me if your phone was unlocked when you flashed the .tot file, and if so, how did you go about unlocking it? Also, I can tell you based on the chipset that the phone runs, that you should be able to image a microSD card using a ROM designed for the phone, and then boot using the flashed sdcard image. If you are not able to do that, then can you tell me if now that your phone is bricked, is the phone turning on at all, or just not booting fully? Can you attempt to get it into Fastboot mode now, using the methods I described above? You will have the highest chance of success using the 3rd method in terms of being straight forward, and of course the fact that your phone is not booting again that involves: plugging a USB cable into your PC, then, shutting down your phone which is not a problem in your case with your phone off, hold down the Volume Down button on your phone, while still holding down the Volume Down plug the USB cable into your phone, and continue holding Volume Down until your phone reaches the fastboot/bootloader menu. If you are able to do this, and you DID NOT unlock your phone before you flashed the .tot with the modified recovery onto your phone, then unlocking the bootloader at this point may allow your phone to boot. To do this, after you have reached Fastboot/Booloader, you will use the command <fastboot oem unlock> wait for it to finish, and it should inform you that your phone is now unlocked, then you can reboot your phone using <fastboot reboot>. Please let me know if this worked, or if you still have the phone, if you could try this. I am interested to know if flashing the .tot to a phone that can not be unlocked due to inability to reach the bootloader/Fastboot mode, as you may have done, would allow that mode to be reached after bricking the phone, and if so, if unlocking the phones bootloader after the fact, fixes the issue. If this does not fix the issue, but you were able to reach fastboot/bootloader, then you should be able to reboot back into Fastboot mode, and then flash a recovery, which would in turn allow you to flash a new ROM to the phone. If anyone else out there has any information SPECIFICALLY ON THE 21J version of H901 stock MM, please provide any information you may have. Or if you have any information about what board is running on this phone, if it is not the same board running on every other version of the H901 such as the 20J, 20e, 20L.
I'd appreciate any help.
I tried downgrading the android version from 20a to 10a, and it failed. Afterwards, whenever I try to turn on the phone, it goes straight to the firmware update screen. Code on the bottom is 633a b50.
When I try to reflash a kdz (either 20a or 20c) in LG Flash Tool, it fails after 4%, saying "0x2000, h83020a00.dz file does NOT support."
LG Up says the kdz is invalid.
LG Bridge doesn't recognize the phone.
Uppercut doesn't work on the computer (is it because it's Windows 10?).
Is there anything I can do? I've tried searching but can't find a solution that's working for me.
(edit: it's the h830 model from tmobile)
Thanks
What model of the lg g5 do you have?
Sorry about that, I thought i put it in. H830
First of all you have to make sure your installing LGUP correctly including the dll file, but make sure to install the dll file before lgup. UPPERCUT is detected by my computer as a virus, so you may have to disable your antivirus and make sure your phone is connected in download mode to your computer when you launch uppercut. Click upgrade and selected the appropriate kdz file.
*enter download mode by plugging in your phone while its off with the volume up bottom held.*/and the usb is in your computer
Thanks. I just tried all that - uninstalled the dll and LGUP then reinstalled them, connected my phone in download mode (though it still went straight to that firmware update screen with the same code) - but I still got the "this app can't run on your PC" alert when I tried Uppercut :/

First of all what PC do you have and what operating system is it on. Also can u boot into fastboot? If so flash twrp and try to flash a nougat kdz from twrp. If you can't boot into twrp, try flashing the kdz of the update you was trying to remove or alternatively try this method posted by this guy on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg5/comments/4xrg4w/lgg5_is_stuck_in_firmware_update_purgatory/
It's a Dell. The OS is Windows 10 Pro.
I can boot into fastboot, but when I tried to unlock the bootloader, the computer said waiting for device. I tried uninstalling/deleting the drivers from the registry, rebooting, then reinstalling them, but that didn't help. So I was never able to root the phone and flash twrp.
I tried to reset the phone. I managed to get to the reset screen after a few tries, but after agreeing to the reset, it goes back to the firmware update screen.
I tried the trick from reddit a few times, but that didn't work. Took me to the firmware update screen

I think you can fix waiting for device by flashing the unlock.bin file again by fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin or try fastboot unlock oem
The minimal adb and fastboot isn't recognizing anything. On the phone it looks like I'm in fastboot when I pressed volume down after plugging it into my comp, but it's not being recognized. So I guess I can't enter fastboot after all
Hi all
I wanted to follow up that I fixed the issue.
I discovered that the exe file for Uppercut was 0 bytes.
I re-downloaded the Uppercut zip file and unzipped it again, then realized that Avast kept putting the exe in the virus chest, which is why the file was missing. It had like 5 copies of the Uppercut.exe in the chest, so it isolated the file every time I unzipped the folder.
I disabled Avast, unzipped Uppercut again, and saw the exe had the boxing glove icon and is 4.07 mb.
I plugged in the phone, booted up Uppercut, and LG UP started. I added the kdz.
I forget if I did "update" or "refurbish" in LG UP (I used the second one from the left, since the furthest option didn't work), then it loaded and restarted the phone.
Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate all the effort put into giving advice and developing the software.
To begin with, I was trying to unlock Lg sp200 tribute dynasty phone , I was told that flashing lg k8 plus x210mula firmware will do it. Everything went well during flashing process using chip erase command on lg up software until it didn't.
The phone stuck in lg k8 plus logo, at first I went to download mode but then I tride hard reset way by using recovery method but everything went bad after that. I had been stuck at black screen since then with a message saying [LGE] [Image Recovery] op_image : 0 API Support : 3 and no ability to go back to download mode .
When plugged in, the phone was recognized by the computer for a few seconds beep and then disconnected after the message appears.
I tried lg up, lg flash tool and even plugging without battery using volume up method to get into download mode but no luck.
Now I need a powerful tool to get back to download mode to flash new firmware that I got recently.

Got a queation. Have you plugged your phone into a pc mac or linux machine to see if it registers. It being a qcom device it might show up as hsusb 9008 or qdl mode. If so you might be in the same boat as me. If it is check out QPST or QDL on linux and do some research. Im going to try to use qdl to revive my fortune2.
Worthy to note before attempting any kind of drastic procedure like exchange of firmware do extra research and make sure device hardware is compatible with the firmware you are trying to flash.
Some phones like the LG LMX210 variants called CV1 are pretty much interchangeable running the same hardwares. But there are a couple like my ulma that run mtk. Flashing mtk with qcom or vice-versa cause really bad. Thats not what i did i was just tired and wasnt paying attention to my procedure list and well you know it happens.
