Hi guys. I have a spare honor 5x which I can sell for 170 USD and get V10 for about 210$. Should I get it or not? Does V10 suffers from bootloop?
How easy is it to root/unlock bootloader on V10?
Hi, I have no bootloop problems with the h960a. Have nougat stock with root. Unlock and root are pretty easy. The Phone ist fast and nice. Only 2 things are Anoying: first my usb charge port ist wiggly woggly. When i charge the phone and touch the Cable (not every Cable, but the most does this) the phone goes dudit dudot dudit dudot... Charge dont charge charge dont charge... I thing my usb port ist a litte broken.
And the at point 2: no roms. Nothing. You can do root, but there ist still at Q3 2017 not an single Rom. And for the Update to android 7, we haved wait a long time. But this is mostly normal... Updates for samsung are waiting long, too.
Greets and a sry for ****ty Englisch.
Edit: Aaaaand the accu is a little bit small sometime. When i surf a lot with screen on bright over fast LTE and stream videos or play small Games the Phone says after 2 hours only 15 percent. Standby drain is very low and very good. Camera is great. The rest of the Phone is great. If i put the case down from the phone and hold it naked, it feels very VERY... great!
Same h960a bought last year , no bootloop and using nougat with root. Senichan told everything. Better battery would be ok, but its 4k. They say its also indestructable, even without the case. Usb port with original cable is wobbly yea, no idea why. Camera is great, laser focus is a bit bullcrap if you ask me. But all in all its a good phone
I have this phone everything is good except for.... My battery drains quick and the phone over heats... Other than that everything works ?:good:

Yea I am worried about it not having custom ROM. How would you rate LG own ROM in terms of ease of use and features?
And how good is finger print scanner? What's average unlock time for it?

i came from sony, so i rate LG rom 8/10. Almost perfect. Needs a bit debloat, but rather than that i would say its the best phone i bought lately, and even its a year old, its super smooth and has everything i need. I am adicted to flashing roms, but i dont see a need for that on v10. Not sure about H901 thou, but i think there is no difference. Compared to samsung and sony stock rom, this one is perfect. And second screen is hell of a fun haha, and usefull. About finger print reader, i am satisfied. Compared to xperia z5 its a bit faster. But sometimes it doesnt recognize finger, no idea why. But that happens once a week.

Hi there,
my Fingerprintscanner is incredibly fast. You dont need to swipe over the scanner, only hold the finger on. When i press the power button the phone scans the finger directly. If the screen is off an i turn it on by pressing power button, the scan and unlock is so fast that i dont see the lockscreen anymore. It jumps direkt from screen off to my home screen. Really fast i think.

I was very excited by the Smart Stay feature of SGSIII but after a few days, experience, my opinion is that it does not work. I set the timeout to 15 sec. The eye flashes in the notification bar but most of the time screen is turned off. I tried staring directly at the front camera. Tried various positions too but no result. And all this is done in a normal lit room. Then I tried removing my specs and then it seems to work. Since I can't do much without them, so no fixed observation. Can anybody help?

Any particular setting? Or particular angle at which you keep your phone? Mine for sure does not work. The eye flashes but then the screen is also turned off.
I have the same issue too. Does anyone know the issue and how to overcome it? Thanks
I get mixed results with it. It works under ideal conditions but I had to extend the dim period to use it in everyday use.
The icon appears to show that the phone is checking for a face and not confirming it saw one. I see it flash even when looking from an angle where I'm definitely out of the camera frame.

Me and a friend we bought s3 and both of us having an issue with smart stay !It works after you open the device for the 15-30 minutes and after that nothing, after the eye appears the screen goes off!We are not wearing glasses!!So any idea what cause that?A possible bug of it?Or any future update will fix it?
you guys running on XXfl2 or whatever it is?
smart stay works really well for me, never has an issue, even at acute angles
It never works for me.
Then again... I'm way to ugly for my phone to stay with me.
Smartphone's R getting to smart I guess.
Works great for me too...
Samsung already stated they are working on improving the feature as it is not yet capable of handling some light conditions, and most glasses.
Sent from my DROIDX
Works fine for me with glasses, as long as the phone's front camera is pointing right at me.
The flashing eye means its searching for a face; the only indication that it has recognised you is that the screen doesn't turn off.
Same issue!
Yup, facing the same problem. Keep staring at the screen for hours for the damn thing to work. But it just wont. I have tried with my glasses off. Got the same result. The eye appears on the screen twice. The first time it dims the screen, the second time it shuts it off. I have tried different angles, but have finally resigned to my fate, unless XDA/Sammy figure it out!
not working for me 2
I am not wearing any glasses but it simply dont wok tried to change the angels but no luck ... hope it need improvement. This was the main reason to purchase the s3 but....
Mine works quite well, feels like its abit of a battery drain though.

It needs to be a nice distance from your face to pick up your eyes, light is an issue too.
Its a nice feature that has some obvious issues on a 1.X MP camera.

Samsung patented this feature so i guess the app dev is in a bit of danger unless he is not really rich.
Other apps wont be as good either, as smart stay was made with this hardware in mind (namely the camera). Others will have to bend and shape to fit multiple cameras, making detection algorithms not as strong.

What I found out is that the timing of the two knocks is less important, what is more important is to keep the finger on the screen after the second knock. After the second knock just keep it on the screen until you see the LED lights up, and you'll see how more efficient it will become.
Im tapping on every other device since I have my LG!

I noticed most of the time when Knock On fails for me is because the phone isn't on a solid flat surface for example while I'm holding it in my hand or while it's on my bed.
This makes me think the accelermeter is used for this feature. So if you have too much "suspension", it won't trigger.
Just my thoughts!
Edit: I just tested with incredibly light touches and it still worked so perhaps it isn't accelerometer enabled. =S

Great tip
Exactly what i was looking for although still a bit slow compared with what i had with my Nexus 4 and the touch control app. But at least I just do Knock knock once.
That really does work everytime.
Nice tip. I have been playing around with suggestions that I have seen elsewhere but yours seems to be the most consistent (I've done it 25+ times now in a row with your technique). I've even tried changing the rate at which I do the knocks (fast versus slow) and have also tapped on different parts of the screen. It seems like the key is leaving your finger on the screen on the second knock.
Previously some things that I read to increase the success rate were (each with mixed results):
- Always tap on the top of the phone (where the notification bar would be)
- Always tap three times instead of two
- Tap once and then pause slightly and then tap twice
On a side note, does anyone know how this feature works exactly? Is it simply the digitizer detecting the taps on the screen or is there something else going on?
I tried tapping on the back of the phone. This didn't work so the at least use the touchscreen for the knock knock feature.

Ya, after doing some more testing, it must be the touchscreen. The reason I thought it may have been something else is I have gotten it to work by tapping in the top right corner of the phone (presumably not on the screen) but that's probably b/c the bezel is so small. I haven't been able to get it to work along the bottom of the phone (over the LG logo).

This as well!!!
I hate it bc that's how I was when the first iPhone came out...made me want to pinch to zoom my laptop screen. Now I find myself tapping the iphone or laptop to unlock but get mad when they don't lol
Knock On feature to turn screen on doesn't work if proximity sensor is covered (try to cover it and tap the screen - it will stay off). Also phone needs a short while to detect the sensor is not covered anymore. So if you pull out your phone out of a pocket and immediately try to turn screen on it simply won't work at first try. Second usually does the job. I've never really had a problem with unlocking the phone while it's on the table or something, when the sensor isn't (or wasn't two seconds ago) covered by anything.
So the reason of our problem is slow response from proximity sensor, it's super fast to detect the sensor is covered, but a lot slower to detect it's uncovered. (You can test it during the phone call - you'll see what I mean).
The solution is just wait a second after you pull out your phone from pocket or after you holding it the way it covers or is near the proximity sensor. I don't think guys triple knocking or keeping your finger on the screen is really helpful. ?
Maybe it can be fixed somehow by our devs, make the proximity sensor reacts quicker.

Probably does that so it won't come on by "knocking" in your pocket. Not a big deal for me at all. And the OP's method is working 100% of the time fur me. No need for 3 knocks any more.
I'd like to confirm what don't others have said and say that the most common mistake is tapping too fast.
Correct that the knock on only uses the sensor to avoid turning the screen on in your pocket.
However, if the touch screen constantly listens for these knocks while it is turned off, shouldn't that consume at least a considerable amount of battery?

sorry for this really really dumbass question but when u say "After the second knock just keep it on the screen until you see the LED lights up"
i infer 1 knock (tap and lift finger) and then 2nd one is not actually a knock (tap and lift finger) but just tap and keep ur finger there itself
or
is it 2 knocks and then (after second lift of finger) jst touch the screen again
good i really feel like dumbest dumb on this planet asking this question but please do reply
i dont yet have g2 but planning on buying it so i cant confirm myself what u meant
hi i like this phone but without double take to wake i wont buy it.
it doesnt have the 4g b20 800mhz. i could live with that.. but i really cant live without double tap to wake i have a lg g3. and every chinees phone i buy has it. so for me it's a standard
Your can wakeup by fingerprint sensor. It was the best.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
U can also use the proximity sensor, it's faster than fingerprint and dt2w and eats nearly zero battery.
i was tempted to port it but after getting used to the fingerprint i guess its not really necessary
hum. my phone is always laying on the table next to my pc. so it's pretty annoying to have to lift up the phone to see if i have notifications. (i mean to read them)
i have LG phone and i can't live without double tap to wake. i mso used to the back buttons so a finger print scanner on the back is nice but no dt2w is stupid i mean i dont always have my phone in my hand. so if i want to wake it up i just double tap, but without that i need to lift up the phone or press the side power button dont know it seems pretty annoying for me.
i had a doogee f5 great phone but i use more double tap to wake then a finger print scanner i mostly turned it off cause i hate passwords only use it when im not at home. but soo yeah without double tape to wake this xiaomi is a no for me every 'f:iking chinees phone has double tap to wake even 50$ ones
why can't a 160euro xiaomi have it ilove xiaomi it's quality but yeah no 800mhz 4g and no double tap. if it had double tap to wake i could consider buying it.
so no rom has it implanted? or some one made it?
Seriously! I have redmi note 3 and i miss this feature a lot, even just to read notifications i need to hold up the phone and press power button or fingerprint scanner. Now many would argue and say there are apps like active display/gravity screen/proximity sensors but they all consume some amount of battery. Also these apps would be user apps, not system ones and so would be killed by miui Aggressive battery saver mode.

I had posted this in miui forums, but got the same vague response. Even though mi4 and others had this feature, it's missing on note3. Everyone considers it redundant due to the fingerprint sensor at the back but to me it removing dt2w would have only made sense if the fingerprint sensor was on front. From the looks of it, guess xiaomi won't be adding this feature back anytime soon. Till then we could just hope that someone somewhere ports it rn3.

And wierd the mi4 has it. (saw the miui forum reeded every page) snif guess the remdi note won't be my next phone or will it? hahaa
damit i love the battery life. and the 'openess' of xiaomi/miui with sources aviable etc. i think it will get some custom roms. even if miui is already great.
i can get used to no double tap but i will miss it... and still hope some one ou xiaomi will implant it.. the 4g b20 pff not sure if i really do care that much.
but can some one tell me how dark the lowest brightness is? is it lower then a lg g3? or is it lower then a oneplusone (lg g3 is pretty bright a 0% that's not always fun, oneplusone was great at 0% very dark)
I used fingerprint sensor to wakeup by second finger. I found it was excellent.

Short answer that it's likely not.
If you'll look at in which models Xiaomi is used to implement this feature you'll notice it only appears for the (premium?) MI lineup models.
Redmi phones hasn't ever had this feature in Xiaomi OEM ROMs/kernels despite hardware support. So, it is unlikely that it will ever come to RMN3 Pro in OEM ROM.
However, should someone have implemented it in a custom kernel, it is rather simple task to make it available in the Settings app through a patch.

Just got the Verizon V30 and I do have AOD on. When I put the phone to sleep with power or knock off I have trouble waking it up. It appears the screen goes off totally when I flip it over or put it in my pocket. Whe I pull it out of the pocket it will not wake up with power button or knock on taps for a good 20 seconds or more.
I cannot find a setting to stop the screen for totally going off when I pocket the phone. I can confirm that I do NOT have the smart lock feature enabled. I’m just using a PIN code unlock, no facial or voice recognition. I really like the phone but I can’t have this happening every time I take it out of my pocket or turn it over on the couch.
Any ideas?

Do you have any screen protector on the phone? Any battery saver apps or settings? In my experience the AOD is suppose to go off when turned over or put in a pocket. I haven't seen a way to change that. Mine might take a couple seconds to awaken, but never 20 seconds.

Thanks for reading.

I just began having this issue. Do you still have the device?
It never worked correctly so I got rid of it. My coworker still uses his and has no issues. Sorry I can't help more.

I try it by my V30 and had no problems. It is eventually just a random bug?

I have my since December from last year and only now it started to behave like that.. I don't know if it is a software issue or hardware issue of some kind. I've tested the sensors and they appear to be fine.. I will try to do a backup of my data and perform a hard reset to see if it helps, but I'm not counting on it...
I don't use AOD. Just try it to reproduce the problem. Maybe my V30 get the same problems after long term use of it.
The only problem i get random with screen is, that after a restart the colors get crazy there are not normal after enabling Comfort View all get back normally but it is a other story.

I did some tests (issue of being a former Senior QA Engineer). I've tried disabling the AOD and the same thing happened. What I just did is disabling the Knock-On feature.
I need to test it more thoroughly but the issue didn't happen after that.. YET. I need to go somewhere, with the phone in my pockets for a longer period (even though by now I should've seen the issue again) just to be sure and even trying to enable the Knock-On back again.. But let's see..
As for the colors, I really can't say much because I've never used the comfort view feature (I usually just dim down the brightness at night and that's all).
Yeah test it i will it do too. I enabling the AOD and say you next day when i get some problems.
I testing AOD since yesterday and dont get any problem until now.
Hello, I had the same problem, the proximity sensor fails, although the tests say otherwise, download an application from play store, fix sensor, solved!

I still need to try the Comfor Color to see if it happens here. Is only that I always forget to try.
With mine the AOD worked well since day one. I did some things that seemed to have fixed somehow...
I've removed the device from the case I was using (a simple thin one). gave it a good cleaning, forced the power button for a while because I was feeling it was getting stucked. It seemed to keep showing issues HOWEVER, after I disabled the Knock-On feature, left it off for a while it stopped to have issues. I enabled it again and now it is working perfectly... I don't know if it was a coincidence or a sum of all factors.. but now it seems to be working...

First try resetting it. Full wipe. If you do that and it still doesn't work, a new sensor is 5 bucks on ebay. There's even a YouTube video on how to do it. No soldering or glue.

Thanks man done reset etc and still dont work and will try ebay thanks for the heads up
Fingerprint sensor is garbage on the LG G5, you'll probably need to replace it once every 3-4 months. I replaced mine two months ago and it already stopped working again. I would suggest buying power button in bulk on eBay. I know you can get them in a pack of five. This way, at least you'll have a replacement unit nearby.
Pointless my g5 has shutdown permanently tried different battery etc still won't power on so just got a nexus 5x
