Dear Folks, a guy @ cnx-software mentioned it is possible to just flash any firmware as Long as it is for the same chipset. Is this correct?
Quote:"There is a dirty little secret with these boxes and it is a little unfair to the manufacturers who do make good software but you can just about flash any firmware on any matching processor box. The biggest thing is to match the WiFi chip. They will sometimes brick hard and to restore requires shorting pins on the NAND flash. It is pins 29 and 30 on this one (TBC). Short the pins while connect to PC, and apply power and you are able to flash new firmware. I never had to do it on this one. The A95X has an RTL8189ETV WiFi chip as can be seen in the picture above. So I did some searching for “S905 RTL8189 Firmware” and I found some, but they were not any better. If WiFi doesn’t matter and you have Ethernet you will have better luck or can use a USB to Ethernet adapter if the firmware supports it."
I am looking for a firmware with sat tuner
same i been itching to install the kii pro firmware of malaysiak on m gtmedia gts it has s905d 2gb ram 8gb rom but i really dont know if it will brick..

Hello all, I'm creating this thread with all the information that I was able to gather from different threads and sources.
This device is being given away by Claro Argentina as a video stream platform (similar to Netflix?)
The hardware:
MT8127 (Driver detected as MT65xx) (not sure)
Info from vendor
http://www.coship.com/en/ProductView.aspx?id=464
Quad Core 1.5G ARM Cortex A7 11,000DMIPS CPU
Mali MP450 Quad Core GPU
Android 4.4 Kitkat
8GB NAND (up to 32GB)
1GB DDR3 (up to 2GB)
HEVC/H.265 Decoder
Bluetooth 4.0 Lowe Energy
2.4G/5G Dual Band WiFi
Playready DRM
Possible ways to flash it.
1. load scatter file from firmware to SP Tools and click download from PC.
2. Disconnect the usb connected to the PC (use the usb near to the optical output) and also the power cable of the N9090c.
3. Connect the USB (use the usb near to the optical output) to an 2.0 USB of the PC.
4. Connect the power cable to the N9090c.
5. Done!. SP Tools start flashing the firmware.
If does not work there is a jumper inside that box that it seems that put the usb in debug mode.
Put the jumper and try again.
Another possibility is using what appears to be a JTAG port on the board.
Image JTAG
I was able to connect but first shows correct characters and then garbage...
As you can see on image ADB
Current problem, how can we take a full backup of the current firmware???
I'm not able to connect it using Mtk_Droid_Tool_v2.5.3

Any news of this? Because Android version it's too old. I'm unable to install basic apps like Netflix or similar
Hello, I have this tv box (MXQ Pro+ S905) 2GB RAM / 16GB ROM
The stock firmware is horrible, can you help me to upgrade it?
Do you have some firmware?
I tried to flash some firmware, but i think they was incompatible, i got only errors
Originally bought two identical MXpro Android TV Boxes. Since one of them freezes at startup on Android logo (won't enter launcher). My question: is there any way to copy certain files & folders directly from the other identical box to get it to boot up correctly once again? *issue is that I have no use of any computer at the moment. Either this method or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Dave.D.

If you have s905X with blue board than try this one :
https://mega.nz/#!jQ8HWIoQ!ubMpueVYGPA_PtE9snE1buZXjLUeFJP-mOd6vX91wkw
what you need to do is procure the factory image. i may be wrong but there isn't a S905 with 2 gb ram and 16gb nand. the first ones were S905x (excluding capabilities of the S912). there are plenty of alternative roms available including linux based. search around and you will find your firmware. you can even contact the seller you bought it from including amazon and ebay. check chinagadgetreviews.com also. alot can be found there. theres other forums too. once you find your correct firmware, reflash it and see if that resolves your issues. if not. boot twrp on the other one and make a full backup. take this backup, and move it to an area on your sd where you can find it then restore it on the buggy box. make sure you keep a backup copy of everything that works, especially if you cannot find the original. if you look really really hard, you may even find some fully compatible generic images that some developers are kind enough to maintain. you may need to make friends with a ruski to get it tough. thats the best hint im willing to give without provoking any admins or mods (sorry guys if i broke any rules).
im going back under my rock now.
oh and another tip, not all devices are the same. even if they say the same brand. there are differences in wifi chips. you should be able to figure this out. usually theres some model or sticker on the bottom or on the box it came in

ahh, you may need to figure out "Mask Rom Mode" to force your device to be detected by burn tool, assuming you have already tried different usb port on pc, reinstalling burn tool & Also tryed adding power at same time connecting the usb cable
Hello, I need help unbricking a MTK6572 S6 SM-G920F Clone. Or if you do have a ROM please provide me with one, I have used countless roms online to try and flash the phone to no avail. It keeps connecting and disconnecting once I connect the usb cable to it and the phone can't be detected when I place the batteries in it whilst flashing (sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't).
When I try to flash it brings up the usual message that messgae that says the ROM doesn't match, when I read the logs I think it says that there might be memory problem. (I am not sure, that is why I am here to consult with the experts)
As for the phones specs I am not so sure, I think it reads 32gb, 3gb ram, cpu is octa core, on the back of the box but I am sort of skeptical as the sd card read 16gb but is actually 4gb (also not sure if the rom of the phone was loaded on thisor was actually less than 1gb and loaded on the phone - as this was how I briefly saw it before the whole fiasco). As for the ram it might be 1gb or 512mb and the cpu cores might be dual core or quad core not octa core.
Any advice on how to proceed might be helpful. Have tried using a different computer and different cables with the same results still been seen. I could send debugs if this helps.

I ever say that is better to buy a device from an unknown brand that this kind of devices. atleast you will know what you are paying for.
The first you have to do is find the correct firmware/version that was builded for your specific model but this is impossible for unbranded devices so only you can do is to try many firmwares from similar devices under risk of brick it completely (if you didn´t yet).
You have to check/pay attention on the way that you are connecting it with pc, try with SPFlash Tool v5.1628 that is for this version and check only these partitions: System (android), boot (bootimg), EBR1, SECRO and userdata (nothing more in a first attempt), with battery disconnected (whole the process), tap on download and just now connect device.
About specs you can be sure that info it´s altered from the build.prop and also probably system partition doesn´t have more than 800MB maybe 1GB so you have to find a light firmware for it or you will find it out of memory.
Maybe this video can help you if you didn´t see it before https://youtu.be/hjm_b0yz5W4

Thank you I will try this out and update you all on how things proceed.
Hi folks, I'm hoping someone can help me unbrick my MXQ Pro 4k. I've searched high and low for the stock firmware but it is nowhere to be found. My box seems to be a peculiar variant and the specs are as follow:
S905x 1GB/8GB S905XQ_V2.0 2017.05.16
SV6051P Wifi
SK Hynix H27UCG812ETR DDR3
It became bricked when I tried to flash different atvXperience firmware img files with the Amlogic USB burn tool. I had successfully flashed it with a version posted by minixfreak on the freaktab forums.
Although not with exactly the same specs, it worked pretty well except for the remote control wouldn't function. So I tried to flash again with what I thought was the stock firmware but unfortunately, that bricked the box pretty good. I tried to revert to the atvXperience firmware that worked from the post, but it now always fails at 7% when trying to format with USB tool. In all cases, I've tried every possible combination of pushing in the reset button in the AV port, shorting the NAND pins, switching the order of USB ports... The box always has a red light when powered and is always recognized by the USB Burn Tool driver when connected to the OTG port on the box but always stops at 7% when it attempts to format.
I hooked up a serial usb/ttl cable to capture boot output, turned on the box and it seems the box is in an infinite loop with the following output:
LOOP:8F;EMMC:800;NAND:85;SD:800;USB:8;LOOP:90;EMMC :800;NAND:85;SD:800;USB:8. It appears the bootloader is corrupt or maybe has been erased.
I tried making a bootable sd card using both burncard maker and bootcard maker but that didn't work either as it can't get past intial boot attempt, even pressing reset or shorting nand pins. I'm not sure if it's because of the boot loop or perhaps incorrect firmware. I haven't been able to find the definitive stock firmware anywhere. I would appreciate help in finding this elusive firmware.
I've scoured the internet for a solution and tried many different things but nothing can get me out of this loop. I'm now at a dead end.
I once had a bricked router that I was able to fix by connecting usb/ttl and putty and repeatedly hitting Ctrl-C after rebooting to get a CFE prompt. At that point I was able to manually flash the router with firmware and revive it. Maybe there's a tool available that would possibly do something like that with the android box?
Also possible I guess that something in the hardware is toast and it's just a paper weight now. Anyway, any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
Hello,
I have been banging my head for the last few days trying to fix this T95Z Plus box. I do not think it's the Sunvell version, as there is no markings anywhere showing so. It is a 3+32GB version, I have taken the casing off to check the board (which is red), and says "MAL_t95zplus_168p_1103_v1.0" - I also see AP6255. I will upload a few photos shortly. I have tried over 20 different Firmwares, all fail at 2% with the code "Romcode/Initialize DDR/Read Initialize status/" error. I have tried different cables, different USB ports (a s905x box flashed earlier, same cable, same software just fine).I have to use the short pin method for the box to be detected, and start the actual flash, which fails at 2% every time, no matter what FW, ROM, cable, port etc.
I would like to know what kind of RAM this board has, what the stock firmware would be, and if there are any custom ROMS (aidans rom, atvxperience, etc) that I could use, without issue. If you could help, would be great (please try to send me links to the actual file that would be compatible) as I have tried literally, 20 different firmwares/roms, all to which fail flashing.
Thank you!
Hi, I have a similar one (s912_T95ZPLUS_221P) 3g/32. come with LPDDR3 memories.
I'm currently using aida´s rom https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=333135
There are 3 to download witch of the 3 are working on your machine thanks in advanced friend.
PS I have the exact same one as yours. Thanks for the pic as well
