Am I the only one who still uses MIUI? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hola guys,
I have been using MIUI since my kenzo arrived. I was quite tired of AOSP on my previous phone. That's why I preferred a change.
But the thing that's up my butt is that my phone tends to sugger from poor battery life as well as me as a bearer. It's like 12% per hour drain. Currently stacked up with agni kernel and xposed.
Little help and advice would be appreciated on what to do next.
PS: Sorry for bad English.:laugh::silly:

Lol you are currently on gr8 drain it is in good condition since Agni is best kernel for kenzo right now so u r good
Way to go
If you want nougat then use official RR or
Nitrogen OS both are good probably u will get more battery backup (don't know what is your usage games or social networking sites)

I mainly used MIUI till last week because of camera. But I moved to lineage last week because the smoothness is unmatched by MIUI which constitutes to majority of everyday usage. I may move back when MIUI 9 drops.Till then I am on LineageOS 14.1

AOSP forever ???

AOSP has had same UI since Lollipop uptil recently from the introduction of white theme in oreo. I'm particularly not a fan of earlier theme and had to use substratum and had to test with a few themes. MIUI in itself, was colorful, and while was comparatively slow, but not too much. I was on MIUI global dev from the last 5-6 months until I needed some change. So I flashed Nitrogen and so far the experience has been smooth. Substratum is one of the best thing that has happened to android. I'm still on NOS nougat build and will wait until a somewhat stable version releases. I won't be going to MIUI in the recent future, but maybe after 2-3 months, I'll move back. I never hated MIUI, its just I got a lil' bored with it.

Is it necessary to flash CM14?

MIUI since switching to AOSP causes loss of certain functionality. I would use AOSP if someone could 100% port the MIUI camera so there is no loss of any functions.

MIUI is great - for some
Its all down to personal preference.
I used MIUI for the first year and I think it is excellent in many ways for the everyday user not interested on what's under the hood.
I recently switched to AOSP just because I like things to be uncluttered.
Also Xiaomi was annoying me with the MIUI 9 teasing of RN3 users - pretending they were going to get further Android updates is very bad behaviour.

ikr. I believe it's because pac is based on AOSP now. I wonder how difficult it'd be to port features. I've yet to establish a build environment...

I'm planning to flash this ROM..................Have u tried it, is it buggy or daily driver material
Wifi and LTE are working on my xt1524. So, if your not that interested in goodies (yet), I think its usable.

I am running this ROM now with the latest xinfinity kernel, and slim zero gapps. Its pretty solid. I can't seem to find any problems. Great work!

No, I didn't. Thought that problem was already behind us.
After flashing SuperSU 2.67 things also got in a boot loop. So I quit for now.

New version stable? AFAIK there are only experimental builds. So, no. Not for daily use. Last build ended in a boot loop here.

I don't rename in Experimental and now let it with the standard name because the device tree and kernel is stable/ready to become official, now that's the ROM that should become more stable. The PAC Team is working on it.
The latest build requires a full wipe (system&data)

For now PAC 6 is quite vanilla. But goodies will be integrated in a near future I guess.
You should look/ask here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/pac-rom
Just downloaden the new version. Just 1 reboot when toggle LTE. After reboot everyting seems to be fine and smooth.
Nice, will keep this for the moment

Just used this ROM with gapps. Opengapps nano didn't work: wizard stopped and services too. A-gapps didn't let me install Google plus (incompatible device, same as on other ROMs I've tried)
Slim gapps did work.
But I keep having random reboots when switching launcher, WiFi turns off, multiple tasks lead to reboots too. So ... no that stable yet but it is the fastest and most smooth ROM I've tried so far.

I get a 404 message when trying to download the "twrp-3.3.1-2-davinci-brigudav.zip" file, so it must have been deleted.

Could you post the xiaomi.eu link here too? The website location of where you found the androidfilehost.com link.
Sure, that is: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-10-0-10-1-10-2-10-3-10-4-stable-release.47170/
Or
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/9-8-8-9-10.51717/
At both links, the same twrp link is at the flash instructions for xiaomi devices.

Ah in the OP! Well it seems small so I thought it was the russian version but the MD5 sum's don't match. So I have no idea what version this is.
The package is small, but when you decompress It cames to 64 MB.

Oh you're right.
I compared it to the other versions and it didn't match those either so I have no idea where the xiaomi.eu people found this.
Anybody tried It?

Just installed it. I'm only in the menu at the moment, but it says:
Team Win Recovery Projekt
3.3.1-23-07-2019 by geoanto555
Everything is bright orange. Wipe works, but flashing xiaomi.eu ROM ends in an Error 7 for me atm. Will have to see what can be done about that.
Also, I'm not sure if it sticks yet.
Edit: Alright, it seems to be an older version of the greek one. When I install the newest greek version (09-08-2019) it won't go into recovery at all and just go straight to fastboot. The one before as well. No clue if it is supposed to work.
Edit 2: The 4pda one works for me. I noticed that the error 7 I got was absolutely correct, since I downloaded the Mi9TPro version of the ROM by accident. The correct version installs just fine without any errors. Boots just fine as well, although it does ask me if I really want to reboot since there's no OS installed (although it is).
If i'm not wrong this is the same developer of the greek twrp.
Version 3.3.1-LR Team/Chinese
Unlocking the bootloader and reading all your comments i was really afraid to try any of this versions but i've succesfuly installed the version above on global stable 10.3.10.0.
It was so easy and magisk 19. 3 works like a charm! No errors. Thank you.

(There are also no QFJCNXM 11.0.6.0 downloads there)
So I wonder, is this 11.0.5.0 really released.
System Update for me says No updates available (on QFJEUXM 11.0.4).
Is anybody receiving 11.0.5 by OTA?
Also, how to use that blockota (OTA) file - can I use it to trigger OTA?
It is only 569 MB (not 2,24 GB as the ZIP/Recovery), could it be used for differential OTA and how
Received it Yesterday. its a new Beta awaiting Public release.

Hi, I'm on Global Stable ROM V11.0.4.0.QFJMIXM and I have not yet received the update via OTA.
Do you advise me to wait OTA or download and go to the rom V11.0.5.0.QFJMIXM?
Thank you...!
.....
just arrived!!! everything ok
Using QFJEUXM right now, it works so bad with youtube, it freezes up when opening a video and even froze my phone for a couple of seconds.
Nvm, just cleared cache.
Clearing cache just fixes it temporarily, it's giving me issues again.

xiaomi.eu uses the latest official TWRP so you should be good to go. probably will only need to install TWRP cause stock MIUI replaces recovery for their Mi Recovery

[Firmware] Xiaomi Redmi 10X 4G / Redmi Note 9 [merlin] [Auto updated!]

Xiaomi custom users face a problem with firmware updates. As there are many devices with no one to provide the newest firmware update every single release, and developers who provide updates to devices may forget or be busy sometimes, so releases are provided later. Here comes Xiaomi Firmware Updater project:

What is Xiaomi Firmware Updater?
A set of various scripts that automatically generates Xiaomi firmware flashable zip files for every MIUI new update! My scripts download MIUI official ROMs, both Developer and Stable, Global, EEA, India, and China, extract firmware either from the firmware-update folder or from update payload, generate firmware flashable zip with auto-written "updater-script", and uploads them automatically to multiple servers. These scripts are completely automated, running on a Linux server every X hours.
Notes:
Firmware filenames for this device are in the following manner:
fw_merlin_miui_MERLIN_*.zip is Redmi 10X 4G (merlin) China firmware.
fw_merlin_miui_MERLINGlobal_*.zip is Redmi Note 9 (merlin) Global firmware.
fw_merlin_miui_MERLINEEAGlobal_*.zip is Redmi Note 9 (merlin) EEA Global firmware.
fw_merlin_miui_MERLININGlobal_*.zip is Redmi Note 9 (merlin) India Global firmware.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What is firmware? Is it a full ROM or OTA package?
Firmware is not a ROM nor OTA Package, it's a set of low-level drivers which helps the operating system do whatever it wants to do. It includes various things like Modem, Bluetooth, Bootloader, DSP and etc.
Why should I update the Firmware?
Firmware is provided from Xiaomi directly, and there are no sources for it to let developers build and edit it on their own like custom ROMs, so if you want to keep your device up to date always update your firmware!
Do I need to update the Firmware If I'm an MIUI official or a custom ROM user?
No, MIUI ROMs contain the firmware-update package which I extract and provide here.
What are the supported devices?
All Snapdragon and MTK devices including China-only devices.
Check the full devices list here
How to update the firmware?
1- Download the package you want to flash. IT MUST BE NAMED WITH THE SAME CODENAME OF YOUR DEVICE.
2- Flash it using TWRP or any custom recovery. There's no need to wipe/format anything before or after the installation.
How to check the updated firmware?
Usually, the modem gets updated with newer firmware, you can check it in Settings > About > Baseband.

just so everything is clear because the FAQ is a little confusing, you didn't specify there. We can flash this when we are using a custom ROM? In the FAQ only says that we don't need this is we are using MIUI but says nothing about custom ROMs.
Thanks.
Btw, what should I use if I flashed an Indonesian ROM before flashing the custom ROM? Global zip?

In the first post it's mentioned that the purpose of this project is to provide custom ROMs users with firmware files.
Flash the required or recommended Firmware version of your rom. If you don't know check the rom thread or ask its developer.
