Someone can port the camera app of the mi a1, it's similar to miui with some features
It's a creative ideal. Mi A1 use MIUI cam running on original Android. I think porting it is possible. But im not sure we can apply with redminote 3. Because they are different camera hardwares.

Well, have you find any aosp/caf/cm based rom for the A1? I can only find miuis and those are few since it has been released 4 days ago afaik
+1 as it may improve camera quality of our kenzo

Well it's finally out and looks awesome but Is it worth the upgrade? Since it's an Android one phone, Will there be support for custom roms/large community base? Is it worth $234?
What's your opinion? Even though Ive had my note 4 for a month almost I'm intrigued to buy the mi a1

I don't think so. Because of different camera modules on A1.

Custom ROMs might not support the dual camera I guess. For example, that's how Lineage now works on dual camera of Huawei P9. Camera app just uses one camera of the two and that's it.
Good question actually. What the future of custom ROMs for dual camera devices?
Wondering if Google will add ability to swap navigation buttons. Having Back button on the right is a bit lame design.
I prefer back button on the right tbh. Although it's always good to have an option to change it.
I have used Chinese phones that long now it's in a normal place to me on the right.
Checked the device in MI exclusive showroom. Looks great but like a clone of OP5 from the back. I prefer the looks of my RN4. The portrait mode in camera was great even in indoor conditions (well lit) and the OS was snappy. But I don't think it will dethrone RN4 from the best selling mid-ranger category.
In MIUI ROMs you can schedule a switch-off and a switch-on time (e.g. the phone can power off at 01.00 AM and then power on at 7.00 AM).
In custom ROMs (at least in the two I've tried, LOS and RR) this option isn't there, and I cannot find an app that can switch-on the phone from the power-off state (for switch-off there are many apps).
Do you know if there is an app that is capable of switching-on the phone when powered-off?
'Security' app, (which is built in to Miui).
Settings.
Battery Usage.
Schedule power on/off.

He's asking if there's an app to do that on other ROMs , I think not. Why not enjoying some MIUI? I come from years of stock Android (n1, Nexus s, Nexus 5, Nexus 5x) and... Well it's different but it's not that bad!

I tried for a couple of weeks (the 8.2 stable), I love some features of MIUI but I feel more comfortable with a ROM similar to stock Android.
But I definitely would suggest MIUI to any non-tech-savvy user out there.
Maybe if the new Xiaomi A1 that uses stock Android include this on/off feature (like other Xiaomi phones), that could be ported to Xiaomi phones' custom ROMs...

I don't remember what custom rom I saw with the on/off. I was using my LG G3 so it was 4.x or 6.x rom. So it can be added to custom rom just need to find a Dev willing to add the code and make it work properly.

Yes Mi A1 has that feature. I am waiting on it. Maybe anyone can port on other custom roms

I am confused about which of these 2 phones to buy can someone please help me and what about future updates in both these phones ?
Go for the mi A1, dual cameras and stock Android with 2 years of updates. It's one of the best midrangers of the year. However, if you can wait, then wait for the redmi note 5. It could come with a SD 660.
Mi A1 is more expensive but clearly superior
Mi A1 has better cameras.
Note 4 has better bettery life.
MIUI vs Stock Android is irrelevant here I think, since both has already had tons of development threads.
You just can just flash whichever ROM you like, whether it's AOSP-based or MIUI-based.
Or just wait for the Note 5, it *might* come with a 630 or even 660. But I predict it would come with a 630 (or even 625 again), since the Mi Note 3 already has the 660.
I will go for redmi note 4, which i am currently using it as a backup.
If you're into tinkering and etc stuffs go for Mido, otherwise mi A1.

Look, it's simple like if you want better camera and you can manage battery good for mia1. And if you want better battery and avg camera (actually works fine with HDR+) and great development go for rn4.

If you need custom roms rn4 is better than mi a1 and the stock rom for mi a1 is quite bad:good:
Pixel 4 has launched so can we expect more g cam ports, more importantly stable ports ?
Mi A3 doesn't have any device specific gcam port yet. That's not a big issue though - this phone is already very compatible with gcam ports from devs like Fu24, Parrot043, xtrme etc. Even the newest Gcam 7 port works well
I think more devs will start working on A3 after we get Android Q. Let's hope for the best
I am looking for an all-rounder phone. But poco f3 camera isn't good enough. So i was thinking about buying mi 10 since it's price came down. Mi 10 has much better camera and i guess all the other aspects are comparable ( i don't care about wireless charging). I want to use my phone for at least 3 years. For this i need proper custom rom and gcam support. What do you guys think? Which phone should I go for?

The Mi 10 is over a year old so more stable custom roms, a more powerful battery and a better camera, more ram,
more features.
The Poco F3 is 3/4 months old so the Roms are still in development.
For what you want the Mi 10 is suitable, but not the same price.

How is the gcam performance on custom roms for mi 10? I have heard gcam doesn't perform well on 108mp camera.
