scatter file is the one included in every stock rom that is flashable to sp flash tools, when you load the scatter file, it loads a list of partitions and it allows you to flash files onto those partition, in thus case you needed the partition table to flash the recovery, so you need to load the scatter file that is found on any stock rom made for flash tools

I have tried a different way no via cmd with adb...
And I followed the steps meticulously - unlocked bootloader etc, but I get to the "writing recovery part" -
And it says FAILED (remote not allowed in locked state)
I don't get it! =(
I have unlocked bootloader, I have installed drivers, I did EVERYTHING...
Any advice?

Did you use the version of TWRP posted in the OP of the CM11 thread? You have to use it, otherwise the flash will fail.

I also compiled a version with the updated kernel: http://tinyurl.com/TWRP-Recovery-2-6-3-0-selinux
Essentially the same as deck's, just the font in recovery appears much larger and more readable .

You have to flash the image files via fastboot, not through recovery.
no wonder i couldnt do it ..lol..havnt to used fast boot since the og evo days hope i can remember how..
Connect the phone to your pc and boot into bootloader, then go to fastboot.
you can test if your comp sees your phone by using
Code:
fastboot devices
Then, just open up cmd wherever your recovery image is stored (if on pc) by holding shift and right clicking. Then in the code below, replace recovery.img with the name of the recovery file you have.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

This is what I use http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
You can also download the version that's included in my Hboot guide (top link in my sig). It's not the entire SDK-just ADB & Fastboot. It's what I use. Just download and install. Once installed, highlight the file & hit Shift+right click on mouse, and you're ready to go.

Hi,
I'm unsure if this method will work for you, but I also had "preloader Error message" in FlashTools trying to flash TWRP in Stock Rom 2016810 while trying to flash the Eragon ROM.
As the Stock ROM you are using (20171201) is kinda newer than stock 2016810 Im kinda assuming it should work the same.
In order for it to flash without errors, I did the following and worked fine :
Use FlashTools ver v5.1612 - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424940027
Download your stock rom 20171201
https://mega.nz/#!atZAyKxb!i6jpNQNR_VZZ3nS79LhL2xi78WHx7XI4gKFllc8 RJKw
Then download TWRP_3.0.2.8.zip here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24727369092696060
Unzip all and and copy the "MT6755_Android_scatter" & "recovery.img" from TWRP_3.0.2.8 folder into the Elephone_P9000_20170112 Rom folder.
Then open Flash Tools - add the scatter file from the Elephone_P9000_20170112 Rom folder
Untick everything in flashtools except the recovery and then try to flash, hopefully it will work for you too. without errors '

Hi, I think this maybe to do with the new preloader etc..
I read this in the thread for TWRP for Elephone P9000 3.0.2-8:
1. load scatter.txt in earlier post.
2. select preloader, lk and boot imgs, location of these from the stock 20160810 ROM.
3. select recovery, location of TWRP img.
4. unselect everything else.

So maybe Unzip the 20171201 Rom, copy TWRP scatter & recovery.img to this folder, open flash tools and select recovery and point to recovery.img
But also select preloader, lk and boot img (double check they are pointing to corresponding files from the 20171201 ROM
Again, I am unsure if that will work but as I noticed the above post in the TWRP thread, thought it maybe relevant to your issue
PS: Windows 10 can be awkward with splash tools at times, I have windows 10 but in order for it to work - I have to press the Download in SplashTools, kinda count to 5, then hold vol + and then attach USB to my phone and it works fine
If your device already rooted, you can also install flashyfi and flash the .img file.

I've wasted countless hours trying to get spf to work with my windows 10 machine. Your solution worked like a charm, the flashing was successful (managed to get the process to work when before I was getting only preloader errors), however I still don't have twrp but the standard android recovery. Have you got any other solution that I should try? Cheers.

Have you tried pressing power and then keep finger pressed on vol up to go straight to TWRP recovery and then flashing a new ROM in TWRP ?
I didn't do that as I didn't have another rom saved in my phone. What I eventually managed to do was flash the official nougat via spf tool. I'm saying eventually because this piece of crap windows 10 didn't want to make the connection even with the volume up button. When I was going to give up and order a new phone, it connected and now I am happy even though I don't have twrp nor root, but not going to risk it again. Thanks again for your help though, greatly appreciated.

I downloaded both files, extracted them, but there is no scatter files or SP Tools.
Also, I had searched for that files on the internet, and I downloaded SPTools, but there is no scatter. I downloaded 3 types of rom's and there was not scatter file...
Is there a problem with file or something else?
You was right , in those files scatter is not puted in and i couldn't find any for your device , but maybe your device are using Qualcomm CPU so try to flash this rom with QFil
here is example for steps to do
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YmP7Gi5iDI
try the TWRP recovery file manager and rename it. or
for flashing stock rom using sp flash tool watch this vid https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LzyYXAflmOk
download and unzip the rom file
you will find scatter file.txt
select it and proceed.. ✌
I tryed first method with qualcom flash but port is disconnecting after 5 seconds
I have TWRP installed on this phone, but I dont know how to access system folder. When I choose system folder, it shows that system is empty, there is only bin folder...

First mount system in TWRP then proceed to file manager in TWRP
Then only it will show system files.

Charge phone above 50%, after that download all needed files, then do everything as he. After that press vol+ on phone and connect usb, then YOU MUST CLICK DOWNLOAD BUTTON fast (you have 3 seconds and after that port will dissapear).. Thats it

Hi there,
I used various ROMs and wanted to show appreciation to all developers for their work. Unfortunately, i use several apps that do not work well with unrooted Poco F1. What are the steps to unroot and go back to stock version of phone? I've tried the guide that uses Mi Flash tool but I cannot make it work. Is there a guide to unistall twrp, lock bootloader and how to flash stock stable rom in order to get OTA updates and phone as when it comes out of the box?
Many thanks to who will help me.
Manuel
no one?
I don't know about locking the bootloade, but for unrooting maybe just flash stock global rom without disabling forced encryption

what was the problem with mi flash tool, it would be helpful to know. you did try flashing a fastboot image ?
As for unrooting if u clean flash any custom rom without flashing magisk ( basically if u don't root) all ur bank application would work.

hi, u are trying to flash ota or recovery file using mi flash tool.
what u need is fastboot rom.
here --- https://en.miui.com/thread-3757763-1-1.html
if u need a guide with images to follow here u go -- http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
keep in mind u need to download the fastboot rom file not the recovery rom.
then extract the file and flash it.
and if u want to lock the bootloader too, then use " clean all and lock " option
it will restore ur phone to 100% stock and relock ur bootloader.
NEVER use the option 'flash factory' by mistake.
i hope i was clear enough if any doubt ask or search xda before proceeding.

Ok...now it worked. Only difference is where I saved the extracted files, it worked by saving them on the desktop, it wouldn't work when I saved them under documents/PocoF1/Roms/
very very weird. Thanks for your patience and help. I'm usually good at following directions

Click 7 times build number in settings> about phone. Then click on two times back button. Select developer options.
Click into it and find 'DSU loader' or 'Dynamic system updates'.
If you can't find it find 'feature flags ' and set what with the word 'dynamic' in it as on.
i find it, but it says experimental.
what can i do?

Oh I see, your oem unlock is greyed out, did you unlock your bootloader?
Yes i unlocked the bootloader, when i power on the phone it turns out that this phone has the bootloader unlocked
Sorry but you need to have TWRP recovery software to flash one as you do not have dynamic system updates.
You will need to wait.

But i can install twrp but the system.img doesn't work
*This is likely to brick your device. Make sure that you can reflash stock ROM (www.samfw.com) and make sure to backup. Only install if you really have to. I was not responsible as you have been warned!
Well last resort:
Install 7zip.
Download
Rename your GSI as system.img. This is a must.
Open 7zip. If you can't just find C:\program files/7zip/7zFM.exe. and click on it and 7zip will open.
Navigate to your GSI (system.img).
Click on the system.img and select files, then 7zip, then add to archive.
A window will pop up. Select .TAR as the compression format and click compress.
After that,
Just flash your .tar via Odin.
Aaaahhh

are you sure I don't have to flash vbmeta or twrp first? I have to flash the .tar so without doing anything? from stock rom with unlocked bootloader I go to download mode and flash the .tar?
