New to Honor 5X. Which custom ROM to choose? - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

Hi everybody!
Just got Honor 5X (KII-L05) for my daughter. Don't really like stock ROM. Unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and SU. Now trying to choose ROM...
I can see couple choices: LineageOS, Resurrection Remix, XenonHD... Some are abandoned by creators, some are picked up by followers
I need the best battery life, not really interested in all bells and whistles , just stable.
What is your experience?
Thanks in advance!

If you need stability, and not bells and whistles - Lineage. Tried many, always returned back after less than a week.

Thanks! Should I go with latest nighty or it's better to skick with stable? (I can see only nighty for 14...)

Its matter of taste but there are all stable. Iam on aex for weeks without issues.
Crdroid is known for well battery life.
Aoscp is smooth and batteur life with not many features if you not interested.
You made the most difficult part. Flashing a ROM is easy.

Only 14.1 nighlies are available for now, updates are once a week (Wednesday) but they are pretty much stable - only problem I had so far is my cheap bluetooth handsfree - it didn't like Lineage, so it got replaced.
I install every second update, had no issues so far.

The best by far is Lineage, there's crDroid which is awesome

For more customisation and stability you cam go with Crdroid. For more pure Android look, can with slim, aosp but it will offer less customisation.
LOS for overall stability and moderate customisation.
Cam try aokp, RR. RR offers lot of customisation.

Thanks guys! I guess I'll try them all

Can go with Crdroid initially to feel the customisation and stability without compromising on performance and stability

RR ROM vs Aosp extended

Hi can anyone point me a difference between those two roms? I guess both are using official kernel from xiaomi now? Is one based on aosp and another one on lineage OS? Or they are the same but loaded with different features? Which might be better for girl daily use and good similar to stock ROM battery experience?
Thanks!

There are differences in terms of features.
Yep, both Roms based off kernel sources released by Xiaomi.
Yep, AOSP extended is AOSP base & RR is LineageOS base.
You'll notice, both were almost same & RR has few more features than AEX.
Battery is as same as Miui, 8hrs SOT guaranteed, doesn't matter whatever rom you're on.
Both Roms are official ones, choose which one to go.
So probably aosp extended would be better.
Now we have around 11h sot that is even better than my oneplus 3t. Just amazing.

Best custom ROM for honor 5x

ROMs that have at least a bug
Stability
If you want rom for battery life it would be xenonhd.if you want rom for performance it would be dOtOs.if you want rom for customization it would be ressurection remix.in my opinion dOtOs is the best rom

Not good thread for questions, this question has a personal answer.
For me dotos has bug (MMS).
All roms are stable you may try each.
Best balance features/battery, aex or crdroid.
Best features RR.
Most performance for me was citrus/viper.
Edit: im on boronrom from @jsbeyond, candyrom based. Not all features but smooth

@rodolphe06 Do you have a link for boronrom because I didn't find any link in the thread Collection of Android N Custom ROMs for the Flashaholics.
Thank you in advance.

Mea-culpa.
No issue on dotos with MMS, was apn issue.
Just used latest dotos with astralkernel and real smooth (antutu confirmed).
I've only used two ROMs with my Honor 5X, CM 13 and Cosmic OS. I can't say that I'm really savy when it comes to ROMs, but I think the OmniSwitch app that is pre-installed with Cosmic OS is pretty awesome.
Why didn't nobody mention Lineage OS? Is it so bad? It's what I put on my daughter's 5X but she complains that it's laggy so I'm looking for replacement...
She needs better camera app, overall stability and battery life. What would you guys recommend?
Thanks!

Best Oreo ROM for today

Hi, I thinking of moving from EUI to Oreo. So, just wanted to know which ROM is the best daily driver with smallest amount of bugs for today. Also, would be good to have great battery backup. Most of the Oreos are LAOS based, so moving to Lineage would be the best shot?
AospExtended has recently adopted an EAS (Energy Aware Scheduling) kernel which shows promise. It's mostly bug free, for me at least, at this point.

As for the "best" Oreo ROM, that's going to be pretty subjective (none of them seem to be awful currently) as everyone has different wants and needs... ?
Aosip, the best, f2fs support for system, cache and data! Regular updates, good SOT , try it

I used Pixel Experience for two weeks and I can tell you it's great! Resurrection Remix is also great, but you still have to install Gapps. I didn't like Lineage OS, seems quite laggy compared to RR and Pixel.

Second on this. No opinion on the new kernel, but I've been using AOSPEx since Nougat and it's pretty freakin' solid. Before I killed my FP sensor with an electrical problem, that also worked pretty damn well with it.
The best Rom is Dirty Unicorns. No issues, longest battery life than other Roms

Help picking Between Custom ROMs.

Hello respected community,
I use the 6 gig 128 gig F1 varient and I recently updated to the 0.6 version of MIUI 11. Since then I have been facing major heating, lag and battery life drop. All major. And so I'd like to switch to a custom ROM asap. I understanding asking for a best ROM ain't right because there are a lot of variables to consider. I hate the animation management on MIUI 11 as it just sparks here and there at most time.
I have I list of things that would need to be checked when switching to the ROM. I'm hoping this will make it easier for you guys.
Gaming performance, Smooth Animations, Decent SoT and Minimal bugs so as to use it as a daily driver.
If needed, I can install a custom Kernal with the ROM too. I also would like to experience the new gestures of Android 10 with it.
I guess the ones that I came across were Oxygen OS, Pixel Experience, Lineage OS, Nitrogen and Havoc. Which one might be best suitable for me from your experience?
Thanks a ton in advance. Much appreciated.
AOSP:Evo x Havoc
Lineage:CRDROİD
Miuiort MiRoom ,MandFX or official MiuiPro
11.0.6.0 is an incremental update to 11.0.4.0 which has its own flaws.

Considering ur requirements 11.0.5.0 is an all rounder : root it, change kernel, reduce animation scale to 0.5x by going into developer settings.
Now talking abt custom roms, as u knw devs have limited resources, feedback, data, sample rate, testing etc as compared to xiaomi's.
I am not saying xiaomi produces flawless roms bt u think over the above points to decide.

Thank You, how is the performance for Havoc OS? I've been wanting to test it out for a good while now. I've used Arrow OS and Bootleggers on a Moto G4 Plus and got comfortable with the features they had to offer. I'm guessing Havoc is similar too?

Thank You for the valuable feedback. Also I forgot to mention, I'd like to get out of the MIUI environment. But with the data you guys have, which Rom would you pick between Havoc and CrDroid for stability and performance? And also, which Kernal should I be using for the above said two features?
Thank You both for the valuable responses.

I put OOS on mine and never looked back.
I also use a 6T every day so I'm kind of partial to 1+

I've been using crdroid for about a year (since pie and continued to 10) and i recently switched to havoc (both versions)
I have to say that both ROMs are great.
Havoc gapps version gives a more premium feeling (for me at least).
I'm using it with Optimus drunk kernel and my gaming experience is great ( i play injustice 2 and mortal Kombat 11 ) without any drawbacks in everyday life.
P.s. I've tested almost every option and that's what I liked the most, but bare in mind that if you don't try for your self you'll never know.
wait for couple of days,
official lineage will be released, flash it
u can use a custom kernel to improve performance
other optn:
1.Derpfest
Thank you for your responses. CrDroid looks really promising as of now to be honest. I'll keep you guys updated on my move when I make it.
Cheers to you all! ??

Oh. I meant nevermind as I had wrongly posted in this thread.
Anyway crDroid offers a ton of customization and yet is very stable. Currently on Q builds (6.4). I have used crDroid for the past 7 months without any notable issue. No random reboots, system hanging or app freezing/crashes. Performance is very good and battery backup is excellent.

At present pretty much any rom based on Android 10 is stable.
Reloaded OS - performance and battery backup is great as it is a CAF rom. It has minimal but useful customization.
Pixel Experience - There are two variants. One is normal (just stock pixel phone) and the other is plus edition which offers some useful customization. Built-in kernel is okay-ish so better flash another kernel.
Pixel Rom - Authentic Pixel Port. Change kernel for better performance.
Arrow OS
Roms with customization overhaul - Evolution X, Crdroid, Aosip Derpfest, Corvus, Havoc OS and many others.
always prefer try every rom but here's some suggesstion for you
pixel experience because it is very stable and no bloatware also lineage os but for now the android 10 version is not that stable so choose your drug.
Ancient os

Fewer customisations don't necessarily mean better experience on other aspects.
This being said, PIXEL EXPERIENCE has the fewest customisations of all. It's stable too.
