How to Extract System.img to get a system dump
Step 1
Download This
Extract It To Your Desktop
Place your "system.img" in the "SVAImgUnpack" Folder
Open windows search and type "cmd" then drag cmd.exe into the "SVAImgUnpack" Folder.
Step 2
Run cmd.exe from the SVAImgUnpack Folder
Type "SVAImgUnpack C:\Users\YourUsername\Desktop\SVAImgUnpack\system.img"
When it has finished you will see you have "system.ext4.img" now in the folder too.
Step 3
Run "ext2explore.exe" as Administrator
File > Open Image
Select your new "system.ext4.img" and Open
You can now right click the file and press 'Save' and it will extract all of the system.img
OR
You can double click the file and browse the system.img and right click/save single folders/files
The old method with "Ext4Unpacker" does not work anymore.
The new method uses "SVAImgUnpack"
I just used this method on the N950N Korean system.img and it works fine.
This is a very useful tool for ROM Developers or anyone just wishing to snag a couple files from a foreign firmware.

Thank you very much for this great guide. I have used it successfully on both a Note 8 and Note 10.
However, now with Android 11, something seems to have changed and I cannot extract the CSC I need. Here is the procedure I used, perhaps someone can see where I went wrong.
I downloaded the firmware from Sammy, and unzipped the file to obtain CSC_OMC_OYN_N986UOYN1CTL2_CL20412913_QB36415794_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
WinRAR was able to open the above. Inside the above, I see omr.img.lz4 and I can extract it.
.\lz4.exe -d omr.img.lz4
Code:
> .\lz4.exe -d omr.img.lz4
Decoding file omr.img
omr.img.lz4 : decoded 53360 bytes
>
I then see a file omr.img
.\SVAImgUnpack.exe omr.img
Code:
> .\SVAImgUnpack.exe omr.img
SVAImgUnpack - Unpacker img to ext4. Version 2.1 from 30.04.2013
----------------------------------------------------------------
Source file: omr.img (file size = 53,360 bytes)
Destination file: omr.ext4.img
Unpacking ...
Reading: 53,360 bytes, Writing: 20,971,520 bytes
Unpacking successfully done!
Press any key ...
>
I then see a file omr.ext4.img
.\ext2explore.exe product.ext4.img
It seems to open it, but I cannot extract anything, here is the error in the log:
Code:
Partition Table Error on D:/Bruce/Desktop/Android/lz4/omr.ext4.img
Invalid End of sector markerBlock size 4096, inp 1280, inodesize 256
Inode 2 with file size 0
Linux Partition found on disk 1 partition 0
Any assistance on what I am doing wrong would be most appreciated!
Can confirm that ext2explore it works with Android 12 custom ROMs.

Ok guys, I got it. File location of extracted "system" folder is the same one where is system.sin file. If u don't see folder than the value (that u use for extract) is incorrect. Try all of them, 2048, 4096 or 8192. If that doesn't work u can try this method given on the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32499599&postcount=150
Hit THANKS button if this helps.
EDIT: And this only works with GB system.sin files.
Tried 2048, 8192. 4096, 16384, 32768 amd stošš "Page size parameter is wrong."
Not woking, no matter what i do it dosen't work.

I was trying to decrypt the stock XS ROM. But after step 5, the file created is system.ext4 not system.yaffs2
I found so much tutorials like that, but always when I use SIN Editor, I don't get yaffs2, i get ext4.
I use Flashtool... am I too nooby for this?
Thank a million. Working perfect!
Firs of all thanks for the guide it works like a charm.
I have a question, to remake a sin file after having extracted it, how can i do?
thank you very much!
With a firmware worked, but with another firmware flashtool extracts no yaffs2 file, but a .ext4 file, how can i extract from this fie? thank you.

How to extract Huawei firmware / update.app
I wondered how to extract the firmware files Huawei, since with the dsixda's Android Kitchen I could not do it. After some research I finally found and I share my method in this thread.
This method works for the newer firmware (i tested on JellyBean Emotion UI 1.5) but should also work on a lot of others version.
Please for all improvements, send me a MP. I’m french and it’s possible for me to misspellings
This thread is in constant progress thanks to your feedback..
I. What you will need
ActivePerl to execute the script that will extract update.app[/URL][/B]

Thanks for the great guide, but I have a problem executing split_updata.pl. when i double click it, a terminal just opens and closes itself in less than a second but there is no change. I installed the active perl in the link. Any idea?
Edit:
If i type
Code:
perl split_updata.pl update.app
on terminal, it gives me
Code:
Unrecognised file format. Wrong identifier.
And it makes a folder named "output" in the directory, but nothing is in there.
The update.app was in the update.zip from B522 to B601 for ascend d1.
great tread!
but for ascend y300 don't work very well..
it dont' recognize boot.img and recovery.img

Thanks so much for sharing this. But I got a bit of a problem where you execute huawei finder script to find the boot, recovery and system image. Mine got only the system image and not the boot and recovery image. The update.app I extracted from is 389mb. Can you please clarify me on this? Where did I do wrong? I believed I followed every steps as shown.

I am having problem opening .img files as the ext4_unpacker.exe returns wrong file format everytime I tried to open it. I have redownload this exe application many times but still same result
Any solutions?
What happens when updating?
I'd like to know what happens when updating because I have a stock update.app for my phone u8681 wind and it refuses to finish step 2/2 and always fails. I was thinking maybe I'd modify the update package so that it would work but first I need to know which checks it's failing at.
Also I want to know how to repack the modified update.app
I've got the same issue with boot.img and recovery.img.
Im using the full rom for Huawei Ascend Mate.
Btw, everything else worked!
Thanks!
MCK
