hi all.
at first i wanna apologize for my english, i am not native. i am also not good at phones, just normal user.
i bought samsung galaxy s2 i9100 from cellsnmore through ebay. i had to upgrade firmware from gingerbread to 4.1.2, i did it with odin because it could not been done by kies.
what is a problem is that my fm radio cannot find any radio station, headphones are plugged in and normally works with other music apps. after pressing a search station,, it shows that none of stations are available.
another problem is with gps location. i wanted to find my location in accuweather app or navigation and it took so many minutes so i gave up.
please, could anyone respond and advise me how to solve these problems?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thank you guys

Is GPS taking a long time to locate with AccuWeather only or in other apps as well. For example, is it working well in Google Maps?
You could also try to use a GPS Test app (AndroiTS GPS Test Free from Play Store) to check if your phone is "seeing" any satellites or not.

it does also in google maps and the others. i tried that app and it is seeing satellites. where could be the problem, do you have idea?
and does anybody know anything how to fix the radio, please?
thank you
How many sattelites are visible as per the GPS test app?
Could you please try the following:
1. In Settings > Location Access, disable and re-enable "Wi-Fi & mobile network location"
And check if GPS works (ideally using the GPS test tools).
2. If the previous solution didn't work, then
In Settings > Location Access, disable "Wi-Fi & mobile network location"
And check if GPS works (ideally using the GPS test tools). (The second problem I had faced with CyanogenMod based custom ROMs in 4.2.2)
Note: The first time you connect to GPS it could take a long time (long as in 20 seconds to a couple of minutes). And if possible, try to test it from a place with clear visibility of the sky (at least the first time).
When I start the S Healt Training on my Gear S the Location search at the beginning Need minutes to fix the Position. Last Run I had 3 rounds ´(~3x12 minutes) and the GPS fixed after the first round.
Is this normal? I can´t wait 10 minutes before I start running for the Watch...
How is your watch connected? If it is connected to your phone via Bluetooth, it will use your phone's GPS. When your phone is not near by for BT to connect, it will use its own GPS. In this case, you need mobile data connection to help speed up the initial lock. For me, it typically takes 20 seconds or so. Without the mobile data connection, it will take significantly longer time.
THX. This could be the problem. I´m not connected to phone but have no data Connection.
Would it be possible if i use a old nano sim Card (not acitvated anymore) to get the Position faster as Long as I did not have a new nano sim?
You need a mobile data connection. So an inactive SIM won't help. You need an active SIM with mobile data enabled. It needs to talk to some location server on the internet or your carrier to help speed up the initial lock on.
It makes more sense to have a quickfix file that can update via wifi etc. Strange they did not add this function as part of the sync process with Gear Manager.
If you have GPS on the phone and the watch and start Shealth and let it connect and count down, then go. It will record GPS without a mobile data connection.

The whole idea of having a watch is that you can run without bring a bulky phone with you.
And you can leave your phone behind and it records gps on the watch.

Well, I took your word and did a test:
* disable the mobile network on my watch to simulate the non mobile connection condition as OP indicated.
* Start exercise while BT connected to my phone.
* Went out for a walk that is well beyond the BT reach.
* Came back the review the recorded GPS location.
All I got is a dot on my map point to where my phone is, not GPS of the exercising. This is what I expected.
When the watch is connected to the phone via BT, it gets its location from Phone's GPS but it does not help initialize its own GPS. Once your disconnected from the BT, the watch will still need to initialize its own GPS in order to get its own location. Without mobile data, it is not going to work.
It's possible to get fixed a position from the gps without mobile data, but it can take several minutes to achieve it
Recorded this with the Nike ap, and no Sim chip in my Gear S.

That is what I guessed. But the title of this thread is about the built-in S Health app, not Nike app.
I also have a few runs recorded with S Health and it does have the GPS map. Also have a S Health update that I need to do.

I use mine 100% standalone for running etc and have had the same problem but figured out what is wrong . After you have your first GPS fix further ones should be within 2 minutes . However and most importantly if you switch of your watch or your battery dies you have to start the process again . I know its a pain but its the only way this will work Standalone . Makes no difference if you have a sim card in or not
I run on trails, and noticed that on some of my runs, the GPS can take up to 0.5 k to start logging. It may simply depend on the GPS signal in the area? I have mobile data on and it seems to make no difference, BTW.
I agree with OP, it's super frustrating to stand around in the freezing temps to wait for the GPS lock, or chose between chasing after your friends or logging incomplete data.
It's because it's not real GPS, it's aGPS. Samsung Moment had the same problems with locations.
S Health distance not working on gear s
using the s health app to track my run on gear s. After my run the map data is correct but the distance traveled is way off. Am I doing something wrong? or does s health not use gps data for tracking running distance?

I have the exact same issue. I've been running 5 test runs now with the Gear S using Nike+ and i've also brought my Samsung S5 with Endomondo and they have been pretty much spot on. Maybe 0-10 meters difference at max on a run from 5-10km so actually the Nike+ app seems to work just fine now. I'm using GPS + mobile networks turned on when i'm running.
But, yeah, S Health is is totaaaaaaaaaally off when it comes to distance for me to. I've tried a 4km test run 3 times, S health show about 2,1-2,6km every time. I almost thought the metrics was wrong at te beginning but that does not match up either. Very strange and I hope someone have a solution for this because I hate the small font on the pace etc on the Nike+ so it would be nice to be able to use S Health instead.
(Btw, Bluetooth is turned off so i'm not synced with the phone on either Nike+ or S-health while testing)

It states in the user manual that gear s uses the pedometer in "running" to track distance, but will use gps to map the route. Which make this totally useless. I contacted Samsung and was on the phone for over on hour trying to explain this problem the assured me that it uses GPS data. So, I got in my car started the running app, held my arm out the window and drove 5 miles. After the drive the map showed the exact route I drove, but the distance said .2 miles. This is extremely frustrating. To date I have not found a single app that can do it all.
1. S-health - heart rate and map but no distance
2. Nike+ - map, distance but no heartrate and no voice feedback ie splits or pace, and reading is so small you cant really read on the run plus it always wants you to post the crap to facebook and you cant turn that feature off.
3. Mapmyrun - you still have to run with your phone. mapmyrun has the worst support. they will never respond to any comments or questions.
I wish I would have known all this before i got the gear s. I would have just a Garmin watch.
Yeah. I've also made a couple of test runs in the car. It's totally insane that they are using GPS on the map and not distance. I really, really hope they will fix this :|
Hi !
I've got an amazfit chinese version with pacefield and since a few days i can't launch run activity. I've got this message :
"AGPS has expired, gps searching will be slow Please connect the Amazfit watch app to update it"
I've also tried many times to sync my watch with amazfit but nothing happen.
Seems to be same issue here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...acefied-amazfit-huami-xiaomi-amazfit-t3581833
I found this :
65. What is the auxiliary satellite search (AGPS)?
AGPS is a kind of GPS satellite orbit information data, can help watch faster GPS positioning. While keeping the watch connected to the phone’s Bluetooth, the watch will take the initiative to synchronize with the AMAZFIT watch app and update the AGPS data regularly each day . If the watch does not sync data from the AMAZFIT watch App for 7 consecutive days , the AGPS data will expire. Positioning speed may be affected after expiration, when the watch will remind you to update when you start exercise.

Maybe their server are down
Hello, I got the same agps massage yesterday and I tried to downgrade the Amazfit app to the version of December the 29.
For the first it was no difference but today morning it updates the agps. I'm on stockfied 1.3.5
I have the same issue with PACEfied 1.2.48h and Paceficator 1.2.49k Rom v3.8 as well. Tried Amazfit App 2.2 and 2.1.1 but no new AGPS data.
Is it possible to update this manually?

Nope. Unfortunately you can't update it yourself Thomas
add me to the list
My Amazfit work without AGPs data, but connection is slower.
Seems to be fixed today morning without updating ROM or app. Maybe Huami server had problems last days.
I ve the same problem and no solution
Add me to the list
No matter how I waited for the GPS to search is always not available .Even I tried open area
GPS not availble
Me too
Hi
I have my BIP for three days.
Firmware ist 1.1.1.00 Installed via Notify and Fitness app.
Yesterday I tried the GPS tracking ofcycling for the first time. At first I get a message to connect to the app and update AGPS. This message stays at the screen for about 10 seconds. Afterwards the watch tries to get a location via GPS. Today this message showed for about two kilometers already riding.
Even when I click on skip and the clock starts, it takes some time to start tracking via GPS.
Anyone else ecountered such problems? My Phone gets a GPS fix as soon as I leave the house. Cen there really be such a big difference?
Is there any way to update AGPS manually?
Cheers
Connect the watch to mifit and agps will update.

It is connected all the time via Bluetooth, Maybe it doesn't update because it already has a current version? Should I then wait for another Mifit Update?
I went for an indoor walk, no gps. walked for about 1.6 km inside our gym going round in circles, it recorded everything from HR, Steps etc... but as expected no gps as im indoor.
Amazfit tool for iOS sync the activity but no data sync in stava.
Im using Statros on PACEficator Project|Everest 2.0.59.1 ROM v1.9 Installer|Amazfit Stratos (2019/04/10)
just wondering if you guys are also experiencing this issue or if this is even an issue.

I found somewhere that strava can only import activities that have gps data. That is, does not work for indoor activities.
Yes, it only supports GPS based activities...
yep i just confirmed it today, went for the same walk, same route, only i went outside first then got a fix for gps, went inside did the exact thing, only this time strava syncd it but the data is inconsistent as the gps map was in disarray.
