So guys this is my scenario....
1)i was using slimrom 7.1.2 before a week
2)then came back to the final MIUI 8 dev rom(7.8.something) (marshmallow)to try out xposed again
3)then today i flashed AOSP oreo
4)on booting it asked for my previous screen lock password...when i entered it, it gave an error stating "ur password is correct but ur data is corrupt so u need to format ur phone to continue"
5)as i had some files on internal i force restarted it to TWRP and tried to flash the same version of slimrom again but it ended with an error "ZIP signature verification"....
6)this same error shows up when trying to flash any custom rom
7)currently i have disabled "zip signature verification" option in ZCX twrp settings
Can anyone tell me what is causing the ZIP SIGNATURE VERIFICATION FAILED error??....
I face this password error from official miui developer to MCaosp oreo rom.
I tried some twrp recovery like zcx and inline and red wolf. but no result.
how can I flash oero roms?
solved: I did Format data (not wipe data) and I pass enter password error.
I had the same problem but with official twrp, try flashing another recovery or,
You can copy your to pc while in TWRP and then format data, format system, install custom rom,
If it didn't work, flash latest stable miui firmware, unlock bootloader, install twrp, install custom rom, It'll work.
Thanks guys....but I can't even flash any nougat or marshmallow based ROMs...always ends up with ZIP SIGNATURE VERIFICATION error...any idea what caused this error....previously I was able to flash without this error...only solution I found so far is to disable the zip signature verification setting in twrp menu
Bootloader Locked
So basically the problem is that the bootloader has been locked or the data has been encrypted by the previous rom so to solve this problem and the signature error what you need to do is go twrp and hit wipe->format data ..then it will ask you to type "yes"....
BY PRESSING THE "YES " IT WILL FORMAT EVERYTHING IN THE STORAGE...I REPEAT DO TAKE A BACKUP OF DATA BEFORE DOING THIS...
after the wiping process is done the encryption is removed so now the internal storage is empty so make sure you have rom in SD card so flash the ROM and the gapps and you are good to go..
Hope this solved your problem..
Thanks vamskiri....will try it
Here read this.
You flashed miui dev (official) so what offcial dev roms do is they encrypt your phone (idk why) but it automatically decrypts while updating through OTA. And as it is encrypted and it automatically decrypts in OTA updates, so to use another custom roms you've to decrypt it by yourself but neither you or I know the decryption password. So the only option you have now is to format data / factory reset. (IT WILL WIPE EVERY LAST FILE EXCLUDING SYSTEM) :good:

I re-unlocked my device a few days ago after a long time of using MIUI. Unfortunately, I am now facing a peculiar problem I had not faced the previous time I unlocked my device.
I cannot seem to replace MIUI stock recovery with official TWRP.
If I use fastboot flash recovery xxx.img, the terminal does confirm that the action was successful. Yet, when I reboot into recovery, I am greeted by Mi-Recovery 3.0 instead of TWRP.
My initial thought was that maybe there was some restriction in MIUI that prevented the stock recovery from being replaced, so I flashed RR 5.8.5-FINAL. I still cannot flash TWRP.
Some other info:
The MIUI build I was on: MIUI 9 7.9.21 Global Beta
My phone: RN3 SD 2GB/16GB variant, Fpc fingerprint sensor
The temporary workaround I used to flash RR was directly booting into TWRP using fastbooot boot xxx.img
NOTE: I did a standard wipe (factory reset, followed by wiping System, Data and Cache) when I flashed RR.
As you might imagine, using fastboot to boot into TWRP every time I want to flash something is quite tiring and so if anyone can help me to permanently flash TWRP, I'd be really grateful. Thanks in advance.
PS: If this question has already been answered, then please guide me to the relevant thread and I will take down this one.
This problem also happened to my friend's Redmi Note 3 MTK. I don't know if it's going to work on KENZO or not.
The solution is to flash the TWRP recovery image through fastboot ==> Turn off the device by holding down the power button (DISCONNECT PHONE FROM PC) ==> Boot the recovery using button combinations
This should let you boot into TWRP and stays permanent after the first session
Flashing Through Fastboot/EDL Mode
Flashing Twrp through Fastboot is the permanent way of flashing the recovery...The method is very simple and can be done even on locked bootloader but the thing in locked bootloader is that once you have flashed the TWRP the internal storage is inaccessible because the data is encrypted so you need to wipe->format data ...then press "yes" ..by typing yes the internal storage will be formatted completely so make sure you have a backup ...and do copy the ROM file in SD card for flashing ...after wiping process press install then select SD card and flash the ROM and gapps and enjoy the TWRP...

Hope this solves your problem...
same problem !! did you find any solution !!!
Hello guys,
There's a problem associated with encryption of my RN 3 Snapdragon edition. Some time ago, I've officially unlocked my bootloader, to flash any custom roms I want, whenever I want (before I was using the way around it, where unlocked bootloader wasn't necessary).
OK. Back to my point, when i unlocked my bootloader, I installed Resurrection Remix rom and it was android 7.x.x I think. Somehow I was offered to encrypt my data, to have better security of my phone, etc. So I encypted it. Then everytime I turn on or reboot the phone, I was asked for a PIN code during the rom start up screen or when entering TWRP recovery. I forgot that my phone was encrypted, and I formated/deleted all possible data on my phone (internal storage, cache, etc) using TWRP and installed a fresh Lineage 8.0. Then it asked for a password on first boot, if i want to use my old data, the old password was not correct and i just chose the option to forget about old data and use it as a new phone. The phone didn't boot at all. It booted only after installing stock MIUI rom via FASTBOOT with miflash tool, and then installing the Android 8.0. But until now it shows, that my phone is encrypted in the settings menu and when i enter TWRP, it tells me the phone is encrypted and I can't see my files on internal memory and it's hard to flash the phone, as I have to use adb sideload or some other ways, but I cannot use the TWRP in normal way.
BTW, I tried factory reseting, wiping everything I can, installing official MIUI roms several times and so on, nothing helped.
If you have any thoughts please write them below, any info is important,
Thanks in advance

You obliviously choosed to "Require Pin/Password/Pattern on boot up" when setting up your pin code.
To decrypted the device, you will need to Format Data (Not wipe or Factory Reset), and flash any of following before booting the device:
SuperSU, Magisk, Custom Kernel or FED Patcher.
Thanks alot, it worked.
I've formated data, flashed fresh rom, gapps and custom kernel before first boot up from TWRP.
Reminder!
If you update your rom,
make sure also to reflash the custom kernel before booting the device.
Otherwise your device will encrypt on boot.
Followed the instructions on several websites such as this one here at XDA:
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/
All goes well until I get to this line:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (latest TWRP image, renamed)
The command prompt window just sits there and says "(waiting for any device)"...
Most websites and forum threads seem to indicate that this is a problem with the drivers. Can anyone confirm?
FWIW, I did a total reflash of the latest stock ROM from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...icial-stock-fw-update-odin-thread-xx-t3825204
so I currently have only the "stock" recovery.
I'd rather not root it quite yet. Help please?
P.S. The phone shows up in Device Manager and for "adb devices"; the phone's bootloader has been unlocked... can't see what I'm missing... I'm using a Windows 10 computer... I removed any screen locking mechanisms (PIN, fingerprint, etc.)...

Thanks. I'm trying it with 3.4.0-0
Do I flash this file while I'm still in TWRP? Or do I reboot the phone and go back *into* TWRP to flash it?
>After booting in TWRP download and flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1 zip to disable data partition encryption
Edit: I tried flashing no-verity-opt while still in TWRP. Got the dreaded:
"Verification failed.
Unable to restart your device. The integrity verification has failed. You need to reset your device to factory default settings. This will erase all your data."
I *really* tried to follow the instructions exactly, and think I did.
Was it because I tried to flash 3.4.0-0...?
I am currently re-flashing the stock firmware again.

You need to format data after install twrp. This is avoiding internal data encrypted.
After twrp installed, do format data from twrp. Of course all of ur data on internal erased. And then take custom rom. I suggest devbase rom, this have "no verity encrypt" when u install this rom. Devbase is stock firmware for easy upgrade for rooted phone. And this is easy to install for beginner
Sorry for bad English

No worries. Thank you for your help.
I use Odin to install the Devbase ROM, right? Or can I use TWRP?
Edit: apparently it works just fine to install it with TWRP.
Thank you so much. This time TWRP works just fine for me and the new ROM is great.
Hi. I installed Android 12 Pixel Experience rom and my TWRP gone after this. After installing the rom, TWRP replaced with Pixel Experience's own recovery mode. Currently, the ROM is installed and I can use it without any problems, but I cannot switch to a different ROM in any way. When I install TWRP with ADB, I cannot install the file named "DM Verity & ForceEncrypt disabler" because everything is encrypted. I do not use any passwords on the ROM (fingerprint, screen lock, etc.). I want to install new ROM so I need to make TWRP permanent and remove encryption on TWRP, because i can't see my files. As I said, the phone is can open and I can use it without problems. Looking forward to your help, thank you.
1) Backup everything
2) Install twrp and sideload the PE rom but don't boot into it
3) Flash the DFE (disable force encryption ) zip from twrp
4) Boot into the rom
Remember you won't get the ota updates if you disable the encryption and have to manually update the rom

You need to read the instructions before you flash anything. PE A12 is encrypted by default and because TWRP can't handle the decryption of A12 ROMs, PE replacing the TWRP with PE Recovery, so to be able to get OTA updates. This is a workaround until TWRP fix the decryption issue.
To flash another ROM, take backup of the files you want from your Internal Storage, flash TWRP via ADB, wipe everything and format data. Then connect your device to PC and transfer the ROM and the files you want to flash into your Internal Storage and proceed with flashing.
when i tried to flash any custom roms in my phone *redmi 10 (selene)* i encountered many problems like (twrp for miui 13 "downgraded to miui 12" - the bootlooping after flashing, failed to mount systemroot/vendor/product "need to format (not wipe) data before flashing) but i finally managed to solve those problems and now i can flash custom roms by formating (not wiping) data and changing /data file format to ext4 and flashing the rom
but now the problem here is that im stuck in custom rom boot screen (tried nausantara 4.4 and 4.5 and project lighthouse sailboat and all of them are official and i was planning to try cherishos but pling.com was down)
so is there any fix for that? (also no i think twrp isn't official as theres no official page for selene, no phone starts bootlooping after formating data after installing rom, tried using ofox but it was useless, and adb sideload doesn't work)
and also i tried to format data bso many times but it only sucseeded once and the phone started bootlooping after reboot
and i can flash stock miui without any problem (fastboot, edl, recovery "twrp i didn't try ofox yet")
thx in advance
also every time i reboot to recovery from fastboot (i have to install recovery img into boot partition from fastboot because i don't have a recovery partition) i see this error in twrp console
e:unable to decrypt fbe device
