How to hack Wi-Fi WITHOUT. bcmon
Hi All, Thanks for dropping by. Today I am going to tell you how to hack WiFi using your Android device.
How to Hack WiFi using Android without bcmon.
Following the instructions carefully will help you to hack WiFi using any Android device without bcmon or Broadcom chipsets. Make sure the following requirements are met before proceeding.......................
Mod Edit: Hacking instruction removed
...............................Rest of the steps are pretty much same as the previous tutorial.*Wait until the WiFi password is cracked and displayed by Reaver.*
That's all. Good luck hacking WiFi. I am not responsible for any damages caused to your device. Unauthorized attempts to hack WiFi is a criminal offense punishable by law. Try it at your own risk.
Wow! Does this really work? It kind of complicated though. Anyway, thank you for posting!

@mr.anonymous12, scrolling through this page, cuz you once again quoted the whole post, took even more than that.
@Hemanth Kenway, I appreciate your efforts but hacking wifi is against XDA's policy. XDA is not the right place for this post. You should better make a blog post about it.
When you end your mod description with the following: it is obviously NOT allowed in Xda.

Hey Guys a problem just occured. I was surfing via wireless tether on my awesome rooted vibrant...... when all of the sudden i opened or changed a page at 12:00am 11/15/2010 when a lovely new page from Tmobile Popped up "GET A TETHERING/ Wifi Sharing plan for only $14.99 a month" and was obv garnished in pink and blue as tmobile is.
10 minutes previous to 12:00 am. I recieved a "free mobile message: Tethering & Wi-fi sharing access will be blocked unless you add a Phone tethering & wi-fi Sharing plan available at my.tmobile.com"
12:00am "free tmobile message: Tethering & Wi-fi sharing has been blocked" Please go spend all your goddamned money on more of our services because you dont pay us enough yet for your not quite... but paying for -- 4g service....
I am rooted with clockwork 2.5.1.2.. . . WTF is my question to tmobile... and Gents what can we do about this situation?
How do they know you are tethering? Since they can't see what your doing on your phone...

Ya know... Great question and i seriously wish i knew. I believe that wireless tethering for the vibrant was originally loaded on all the "vibrants" and tmo took them off because they did not like the idea of their well invested bandwidth going into a NON-tmobile product. So a remnant of that SW might have a database. I'm just throwing out conjecture. But i need that back w/o paying out the ass.

I quite disagree. If i post this in APPS then it will eventually make it here for "Android development" also known as modified hacking. I would much rather pay a person on this forum a generous donation as i have times so far to fix this situation.

If they force all internet traffic to go through a proxy, they can easily check that.

And you'd be quite wrong. The development section is for discussion of development on the device, not questions that might eventually lead to development.
So, unless you're starting this thread with the intent of writing an app that gets around T-Mobile's tethering block, it's the wrong section.
What rom & tethering app were you using? Mobile ap still worked when I was tethering at 2 am pst today. (using unofficial stock jk2)

Bionix Fusion 1.2 [yes, i gotta update my signature].
MobileAP was working last night.
MobileAP still works fine for me. Currently usind Anderdroids AOSPish JK2 1.1 rom.
First of all, specifying a time (12am) does no good unless you give us a time zone.
Secondly, I dont understand what you are complaining about. You are not paying for the tethering, correct? So why are you expecting to tether? If you don't like this, why not try another carrier... Please let us know when you find a carrier that offers free tethering.
Third, it is trivial for tmobile to detect tethering. If you don't know why, that is your problem - not theirs.

I did a quick test and wireless tethering still works for me. I'm using the loyalty android plan on a rooted JI6.

And also, the OP is not asking if Tethering is working for us! What hes asking is if theres any other way to Tether, or bypass the transfer limit!
At OP: Im not sure how exactly they keep track of tethering, but i do know that they have incorporated a transfer limit that will allow us to tether for free for only so long. I understand your frustration as I came from the MotoCliq and we were able to unlimited tether for free using the WiFi Tethering app or Barnacle....i do believe those do not work one our phone, so there really is much you can do as of right now

FWIW, both Barnacle and Android Wi-Fi tether do indeed work (at least on Eclair, not sure about Froyo).
I'd be curious to know how exactly T-mo is detecting this as well. Sniffing traffic and looking for http user agents? Seems like a lot of work to go through just to catch the small percentage of users who tether without their plan, especially seeing as how everybody is capped anyway.
Of course, if T-mo is actually sniffing your traffic and inspecting packets, Barnacle and Wi-Fi tether wouldn't help you hide what you're doing anyway. One option would be to use a tunnel or a VPN to obfuscate what you're doing whenever you're tethering.
I'm contractless on T-Mo now, and if I lose the ability to tether I'm definitely going to be frustrated, maybe to the point where I'll jump ship. That's not worth $15/mo when I'm already capped at 5GB!
I just checked via wireless tethering on a rooted bionix fusion 1.2 build and it worked just fine for me at 730am MST. Have you tried any proxy pages? So far it seems to be just your phoen OP that isn't tethering.

Reported in G2 forum also, with PDANet.
Barnacle is working great for me, what program are you using?
Hello
first mode that I saw :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271854
I saw it and if I say that is it possible in galaxy S2, or use
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=69009 any drivers-app
Yes galaxy S2 use broadcom BCM4330 , I do not know If it can inject packages.
The problem is , can put monitor mode.
with other mode:
I tried with ubuntu 10.10 in galaxy S2 with aircrack and macchanger installed but airmon-ng say monitor mode not supported
I had nokia n900 and I could wifi scan without problem and I had wep and wpa with faircrack app and it was good
(only for use with my red and it is legal moderator)
Now in galaxy S2 I only can see default wep passwords apps.
Regards
I wait for one intelligent cook , this is a challenge
Thanks for read it

Which part of breaking into secured wireless networks is illegal (not to mention just plain wrong) in most civilised countries on earth don't you get
And I say that I used my old n900 in my network .
But for example the other post with specific material about it htc OPEN
and my other post are closed. ???????
Well if the people developer wish it ,can do it. I think , hard work...
thanks
20 bucks says this thread gets closed within two hours.
samipower,
I realize there is a thread in G1 with similar information and there are other threads across XDA about WiFI cracking. However, in the forums I moderate, my interpretation of XDA's rule against doing anything illegal is this:
Intercepting network data not intended for you and accessing computer networks you are not authorized to are both felonies in the USA and perhaps against the law elsewhere. Packet sniffing and cracking WEP encryption have no real purpose other than educational and criminal. So, unless you want to delve personally into the educational portion of this rather than requesting a developer to implement it, I don't see the purpose of this thread. Perhaps a PM to a kernel dev is the best way to go about this, but discussion of network encryption cracking won't occur in the public forums that I moderate.
Thanks
crachel

idk sir,why u re-opened that.
It's completely illegal.
He's talking about taking over others router.
He didn't even mentioned about testing his routers security.
That thread should've been banned a long ago.

Nobody has had mentioned any illegal activity here whatsoever. This kind of activity is performed for educational/research purposes in the cyber security field all the time, and this kind of discussion is fine unless illegal activities are specifically mentioned. We have a whole sub-forum dedicated to this subject here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/security
Here's a brief breakdown:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775865
And here's an existing thread covering the topic:

On my Nexus 7,bcmon and reaver did d trick.
good luck
I tried Reaver and Scripts.
It helped me.
So,check my signature and give it a try.
In the Verizon Galaxy Note 3 section a mod stated that there is breaking news about the app potentially not being safe.
Can we have an official response on XDA's stance on this app?
Oh man...
I decided to take the plunge to use KingoApp on my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 after seeing this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460745&page=8
"Everything's resolved, no security concerns among any of the staff.
Thread opened."
Then there are other mods stating in other threads that there are still concerns?!
Color me confused...and a little bit worried...anyone have any more information on this?
This is a little unsettling for those of us who used it recently.

From what my google research has lead me to believe, there is just something between XDA and Kingo going on. Everywhere outside of XDA gives it great reviews. I am wondering if its because Kingo isnt wanting to give up the exploit because maybe its a high level bug that they wouldnt want Google patching.
I see it fishy if they require an internet connection if you already have the drivers installed and your PC already recognizes your device. But on the other hand...
I am hearing very very generic reasons as to why they are against Kingo. I would also like an explaination as well. Especially since many of their members have already used it and would like to know if they need to take any specific precautions???
Hi
I read on here that through a program called fqrouter2 it was possible to use my phone as a wifi repeater, long story short I just moved into a new place with an open unsecured wifi connection, I am able to connect to that network with my phone but neither my ipad, laptops with windows XP or 7 or Nexus 7 can connect. Of all the devices I've tried to connect to it, only my S3 worked, it was also the first device I tried, not sure if that makes a difference... Anyways so now I want to "tether" my laptop to my S3 so I can use this internet connection, I have a data plan but not with unlimited data obviously, I've been scouring the internet in search of a solution and I came across this app listed in the title but could not find a tutorial on how to set up my phone as a wifi hotspot without turning on my mobile data...
If anyone has a clue on how to do this it would be super helpful!
Thank you!
Will
Anyone? Really need help here:/
I was in the same boat man and I tried but to do so the device would need to have two WiFi bands, one to pick up the connection and the other to rebroadcast it. That's why if you've ever tried to bridge a connection on a PC you can send the WiFi to LAN or vice versa but not WiFi to WiFi.

Thanks for responding, I found a temporary solution by using USB tether, but the obvious limitation is in the fact that I can only connect one laptop at a time and none of my tablets will be able to connect sadly.
PS: To the admins the captcha thing on this site is terrible, I have poor eye sight and using the hearing option is even worse, just terrible. Why the heck do I have to enter a captcha each time I post???

I see we welcome yet another user who wants to ignore all the rules and just insult users who give them information .
Answered rules instead of reporting post for deletion .
Answered question re captcha .
Gave warning re I9300 as many SGS3 owners from the north american continent who do not have I9300 post here in ignorance . Sadly advice from this forum may brick a non I9300 SGS3 model .

1: Who did I insult? I thanked a member who responded this morning.
2. You did not answer my question on captcha since I still have to enter it and as far as I know I am a member
3: I am not based in the US, my S3 is indeed the GT i9300 and my opening post was regarding using the i9300 as a wifi repeater.
I'm not trying to break any rules, I post on many other forums no problem, not sure why I'm having problems with this one.
New users have to enter a captcha so it stops spam and bots from posting rubbish and advertising etc.
Once you reach a certain post count it will disappear but i can't remember what it is. Around 5-10 I should think as that's the number i set it in my forums.
Also you can use the phone to usb tether option then use your computers wifi card to broadcast a wifi network for your other wireless devices to connect to.

Hey thanks for this mate Can you give me more info on how to do it? Right now I am doing USB tethering, so my laptop is connected to the internet via my Galaxy which I am using as a modem with its wifi receiver, but I didn't think about the fact that I could do as you said and turn my laptop into a wifi network!
Many thanks in advance
I have used this app to share via a lan connection so assume it can work with usb tether aswell but give it a try.

Yeah I know regarding the warm welcome... The only rule I thought I broke was the bumping but it says no bumping more than once per 24 hours which I have not done, so I did not break any rules nor did I insult any body Anyways...
