Me too!
My wife says that my mic is a piece of thrash...
it's a very bad situation, the lenovo forums are filled with the mic issues and the solution that they are giving is so lame that you will regret buying a lenovo ever again. putting a tape on the secondary mic, is a solution being provided in those forum. the calls are good when you use the loudspeaker or the headphone's mic, but you simply cannot use it with normal way.
I had the same problem on stock rom. But after that I switched to lineage os and the problem seems to disappear.

The build in speaker is pretty bad.
Microphone cutting out during calls
I am afraid to report that my S7 edge microphone is cutting out during calls, and that it sometimes simply drops calls. I have an Exynos version on Swisscom, and I will unfortunately return the phone within the two week-return period .
Am I the only one affected by this issue?
My speaker start making noise within the call and almost muted. Also when I talk longer somehow something switching- I can hear it and then adding like a 'echo '. Difficult to explain.
and the quality is way worst than iPhone 6+
My earphone started making popping - clicking like sounds when the other person is speaking. It is kinda irritating. Any body else has the same?

Check speaker with *#0*# code
Same problem here. Speaker sounds ok on all three frequencies.
The problem is only there when I am talking to someone via gsm network. Not on viber or listening to music. Please note that I have used same gsm network number on other phone and it works well.
Beep sound
The only problem i have with the s7 edge calling speaker is the *BEEP* sound when calling someone. It sounds distorted.
Maybe it's my carrier.
Anyone else?
During my test of low frequencies, the clear sound was only in 300. The other two - 100 and 200 was kind of noisy, messy comparing to the 300
Is it normal or there is something wrong with my phone?
4.5/5
Same issue

never had a call drop, poor connections or refusal of the device to connect a call. i generally have never really thought much about it, or paid much attention to it. so i guess, in a way, that says a great deal, in a positive light.
For me it is a bit quiet at times.
And also i just got it from repair because if i pressed fhe phone too hard onto my ear it started makinh wierd noises, like cracking. And somtimes it made it louder. Sometimes totally muted it. Now that its back its okay but still i think it could be a bit louder

This can be turned off in call settings.

Call quality also depends on carrier, network etc. HD Voice, Wifi Call or voLTE.
Also different carriers have different quality in their systems.
From my point of view the call quality is amazing with both 4G Voice/voLTE and HD voice.
On my carrier voLTE requires both caller and receiver to be on same network, if I call people on other operators I ''just get'' HD Voice.
I have not tried the speaker without root and Viper4Android. But with V4A the speaker sounds good, high and clear!
This said if there are alot of background noice on receivers end, I find HD Voice to be better than voLTE.
In quiet surroundings I find vOLTE superior again.

There's no feedback here? How is this phone's call quality. I've got mine on order coming from a Nexus 6p (and my backup Moto X Pure) both of which had excellent quality. Thanks in advance.
Top notch. Loud and clear. In a quiet room anyone sitting next to me is able to overhear the caller.

Calls are clear and crisp. I can hear the other party clearly and they can hear me. Doing a lot of calls cause it is a business phone - no negative issue at all.
By the way... Better than mate8 or honor6 I used before.
thanks
Call quality as already mentioned is top quality. Even speaker phone is loud and clear.
Even the noisy environment is the big volume which can be caught.
Yep, call audio quality is really good.
Yes, the quality of the calls are really good.
I almost always use loudspeaker during driving, as there is no need to use the handsfree. The call quality is as good as ever.

Clearest audio from a cell phone I've ever had
I recently had the opportunity to record my outgoing voicemail message. When I played it back to make sure I was happy with it, I could not believe how clear it was. You couldn't hear any background hiss or anything. It sounds crystal clear. The speaker in the phone is incredible but evidently the microphone is excellent as well.
Ive got a mate 9 pro on t mobile, and call quality is outstanding as well..
Same here, as good as my s7edge on HD voice honestly.

this phone is my love
Quite loud, but sounds like the sound is heavily muffled (like coming out from a box or something, not 100 % clear) or filtered - people just don't sound like they should when I'm talking with them. And I have to be really damn precise where I place my phone next to my ear to get all out of it, never ever had similar problems with my old phones. For example, my previous Motorola Nexus 6 had much better call voice quality, but a noticeably lower volume. My only real complaint with this phone is this thing, "bad" call sound quality.

Call quality is good enough...
Calls on the other side sound muddled and not very clear
Maybe it's some kind of a network problem, cause in my case the quality is excellent, cristal clear and loud, I had to turn down the in call volume.
Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk
no problem with mine either. clear & loud enough. i turn down the in call volume.
Clear and loud, mic is next usb-c port
Just good enough.
why it sometimes auto calling when I receiving the call?
I'm getting a lot of distortion on earpiece, though not always. Receiver test gives perfectly clear sound, but when I call someone or answer the call sound is loud as hell and distorted. Lowering it down does help a little but it is still bad. At first I thought that it is a hardware issue with speaker but, as I already said, receiver test is perfect, sometimes only tone for ringing on the other side is distorted, and sometimes everything is fine.
No problem with calls over loudspeaker and 3.5mm.

My granny is dead.
After 2018Feb update the call volume permanently dropped like 80% in my device. And I've been reading in the official forums it happened to a lot of people, but Xiaomi's moderators are denying it or calling it a feature (#$%& #$%&). It's so frustrating that I'm considering replacing Android One with Lineage OS.
Call quality is one of those things where you won't get consistent answers because it's depending on too many variables:
- Are you using VoLTE?
- Is your call partner using VoLTE?
- Your Carrier?
- Call partner's carrier?
- Your current signal?
- Call partner's current signal?
To me it seems to be pretty average. I can't say that I have noticed anything unusual about it, neither positive nor negative.

Call quality in loudspeaker mode is ****ty. People can't clearly ear you while you can hear them very good.

I guess this might help you. The post if for the ear speaker but if you need to increase the volume of the bottom speaker is basically the same procedure.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/how-to-modify-ear-speaker-volume-mi-a1-t3779866
The worst thing about MI A1 is after upgrading the Android version to 9 (PIE) microphone volume is slightly reduced. I have a friend has the same issue. When you call some one, he/she says "your voice is so quite, it is hard to hear and understand what you say".
There might be a bug and need a patch. I was hopping that the MI produces a patch but last two patches (february and january) did not include a fix for that problem.

Overall, for my needs, this phone has been a great value, except call quality. The Mic does not pick up normal speaking tones very well. I use mine only on speakerphone. If I have to speak lowly, so as not to disturb anyone in the vicinity, not possible to be heard on the other end. Whether it is a design flaw, or a software problem, I don't know. Has a great Speakerphone, though. Something I couldn't say for my retired Nexus 6P. I should mention that I have a variant from Google Fi, from the Play Store. Might that be a factor?

Little noise from microphone output - Realme X2 pro
OS version - C.23
Model - Realme X2 pro
Noticed that the noise cancellation mic is not working properly due to which others are always complaining that my voice is not clear in the call/watsapp video call. So i have tried recording the call and listened to that. Even i have noticed that the voice is not that great as the other party's voice who is using oneplus device.
Any suggestion that will resolve my issue?
