Unable to delete obb files - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hey Guys,
I'm unable to delete obb files. It doesn't matter which method I use, the twrp file manager fails, adb fails, root explorers are failing. Any idea how to delete this? The unnecessary obb files are now almost 2GB big :/

Internal storage. But it's not only 1 file, there are 3 more files.

1. try deleting with solid file explorer. move the file somewhere else then delete. if the filename is too large, then rename it to anything small, then delete.
2. if no success, backup everything to pc, then wipe dalvik+cache+data+system+internal storage via twrp.
then "format data" in twrp.
copy rom and other stuffs to a usb otg drive or microsd and flash what you need.
hope this will help.

U must hava root for this and a root explorer. Go to the device/data/media/obb, here u will see a copy of obb data files exactly like your internal storage. Just delete it and you are good to go. Try it and thank me later if u want.

Unable to delete obb in internal storage
I too faced this problem for a day trying different methods and queries, they didn't help then I tried checking my developer options. I found that mock SD card is turned off so I turned it on and after rebooting my device. I was successfully able to delete the obb
Problem faced XIAOMI REDMI 4A

Just a bonus tip: if even root explorer fails, try total commander with root access. No guarantee that it will work, but I found that tc can do many things of those the others fail.

Thank you both. I combined these two processes, and I managed to remove my pubg obb file from my galaxy s5. My other root browsers werent working. Total commander did the trick.

You have to change the settings in your root manager to 'mount system as writable'. You need to do this to edit root folders

Write files on system directory.

Hi all.
I'm trying to copy some files to the system partition after enabling write on read-only partitions and remounting it and everything is success, but when I restart the phone, files get deleted and partition back to original. I tried ES file explore and Total Commander.
Galaxy S2, cMIUI 2.10 JB
Hmm.. seems like a hard question!

Hey,
no not a hard question but a bit confusing
So the copy to system works without probs?
Do u have root-enabled on it?
U can try Solid explorer once, too, to be sure.
CHEERS
I enabled root explorer and I mounted the file system to be writable, yes I have a rooted phone.
I can copy to system root folders anything (media files), the files stay there until I reboot the phone then they disappear, they get deleted maybe? how to disable that?
Thanks

Copy files and have a look for root-acces request (should be asked for Solid, if it's new)
The copy/replace the file.

Thanks Hannibal for reply, I got no luck on doing it, they still get removed after reboot. Is there a way to flash these files that I want to copy to system as an update.zip?

Sure there's a way, but I can't help u with it, sorry.
With new Titanium Backup u can create flashable .zips but for sure only from isntalled apps.
Maybe u have a look at google. I remind for a tool which u just say what u wanna flash an it creates the flashable .zip.
Much success....

Edit: Sorry but couldn't answer u yesterday.

[Q&A] How to get rid of corrupt/undeletable files?

Hi!
I have the following (cosmetic, i know...) issue: after formatting data for a clean install, i still have a folder which won't go away (see attachment). it contains files with corrupt names, and I could not delete it in any way (format, using CWM, deleting from phone or PC)
I think a PIT fash would do the trick, but I am afaid its not worth it for being too risky.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get rid of these files?

I tried deleting from PC and with solid explorer (with root) which was unsuccesful. The folder is the library of a comic reader app, thus not system relevant. Depending of the program I use to try to delete it, I get: "File or folder not found (CM File Manager), "unable to delete file /.../ö°Ñ5 π.∞..." (Solid Explorer), and on the PC, I can see a few files with names such as └éQ┬¾╠/Ú.┼, which can not be deleted, because they "can not be found."
does this help?

Hi mate. Have you tried flashing with Odin? This way I fixed formattiing my sdext2 partition which was unaccessible at all.
You may try to flash some other CWM recovery like Philz and then delete those files.

I can't quite understand this. not enough information, I have almost no knowledge whatsoever about filesystems. Should I flash with odin? a rom? or a new CWM?

I mounted as rw when I did an even tried this method: drag files to any folder on your internal memory. boot into recovery, mount data n system, go to file manager n look for your files, click on the files n move it to system/font. wipe cache, reboot

Get Rom toolbox and go to the interface section and click on fonts. Now click Local fonts. Now you want to find the font you want on your SD card and install them in a click. So Simple. Much Easy. Fast. Such amazement. Wow. (Doge meme hahaha)

[FIX] Z Ultra GPE 4.4.2 SDCard Write Fix

TO DO THIS YOU MUST BE ROOTED
If you guys haven't noticed you can't copy a file from internal sd to external sd (confirmed by me and others) Well I figured it out.
I remember something about OTG not being able to read from external on apps like Tibu with other devices. I did something similar to get it to work on the ZU GPE.
If you are rooted you can copy this file to /etc/permissions/
I tested copying a file from internal to external and it worked fine after this change.
I did make a couple changes to the file, I'm not sure which did it but one of them did. I am attaching the file
Just rename from platform.xml.zip to platform.xml, back up existing file(the attached file is NOT a zip.. it's a XML file just remove .zip from the end of the filename), copy new file and change permissions to match the old file
The zip file is corrupted.

Same with me before.. I got messed copying this.. Had to reflash ROM. The permission is rw-r--r--
Clear steps:
Download file
Copy to etc/permissions folder
Find the old platform.xml and renamed it with platform.xml.bak (as a backup)
Rename the platform.xml.zip to platform.xml
Set the permission as same as old file (rw-r--r--)
Reboot.. And done
