I have a few questions.
1. Do I need to root the phone separately using super su? Or just flashing twrp will do the job?
2. Do I need different super su zip files for different roms ? Or any super su file will work?
3. Whats the best stable rom right now? [ Miui or any custom ]
Have you unlocked officially or unofficially? How many days it took you to unlock officially after receiving the sms from Xiaomi? I got my request approved since 13th July, yet unable to unlock bootloader as it stucks on 50% and gives account different error all the time. Have you changed your ROM to get it unlocked? Thanks in advance for your help.

To install TWRP you have to modify your boot.img otherwise system will replace twrp with stock recovery follow this link http://en.miui.com/thread-249666-1-1.html (ON SOME ROMS DEVICE DOSENT BOOT THIS HAPPENED WITH ME DO AT YOUR OWN RISK MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACKUP OF YOU STOCK BOOT.IMG YOU CANNOT USE ANY BOOT.IMG YOU HAVE TO USE SAME IMAGE THAT YOUR ROM HAVE YOU CAN EXTRACT BOOT.IMG FROM FASTBOOT ROM )after installing TWRP you can root your device via flashing SUPERSU ZIP there are many roms with their pros and cons i am using MOKEE its stable .

It is better to unlock via official method it will take time but will be good. it usually take a week or more to unlock after reciving permission msg. the errors are irrelevant to problem. try after few days good luck

After officially unlocked the bootloader, you can used this to flash twrp: http://en.miui.com/thread-296053-1-1.html, used twrp to flash superSU2.65.zip for rooting. I personally preferred alka twrp for flashing official rom with ease. Please referred to this thread for different twrp: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/guide-redmi-note-3-available-twrps-t3406708

When you go to unlock request site if it loaded with unlock tool download page you are given permission to unlock and download it and unlock officially.

All the while on xmiui 8, When I flashed the rom, always flashed superSU.zip and xposed x86 by solarwarex in one single flashing without failed. But because of Pokemon go game and now both my redmi 2 enhanced(cn dev rom) and redmi note 3 pro (global dev rom)were not rooted. But my redmi note 2 prime was rooted and xposed installed on latest global dev rom.

Hi, can one of you guys tell me if will Xiaomi Redmi 3 get Marshmallow update? If it will, when? Let's go talk!
Thanks [emoji1]

I don't see any chance of official MIUI for redmi 3 to get marshmallow update tbh, if u want marshmallow try the unofficial cyanogenmod

after flashing TWRP don't reboot to system
just flash another rom (custom rom) or flash dm verity disabler(some thing like that because i don't know the exact name hahaha)
the point is, if you are using custom recovery after unlocking bootloader use custom rom too
but if you just plan to unlock the bootloader without installing custom recovery or rom is ok too

Im having trouble rooting note 4x ( MIUI 8.2.10.0 Stable Rom ). Just cant get TWRP to install, when i reboot it goes back to default recovery. Phone is unlocked by the way.
Any advice please
You've got to unlocked it yourself. If its came unlocked, then you need to flash and lock it via miflash/fastboot. Then connect it to your mi account for 72 hrs (if you've got an account that's been approved for unlocking bl). Or you gotta reapply for unlocking bl from scratch.
Sorry didn't make it clear but it did unlock it myself. Wonder if it's got something to do with the version of global rom that's on the phone.
After installing TWRP directly Boot into TWRP. did you do that?

Boot to TWRP right after installing twrp. Use fastboot command (fastboot boot recoveryname.img) or volume up + power key.
Got it sorted, like an idiot I was pressing volume down and power . Real NOOB mistake lol

Is it possible to install the Resurrection Remix on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 without root?
If so, is there a guide somewhere that shows how to do it?
Thanks.
Okay the answer is no
But not the root is required the open boot loader is needed
And you can lock the boot loader again so no need to be afraid

I thought Xiaomi will unlock the bootloader if you request to do so. I've sent a request from here:

If Xiaomi do unlock my bootloader, is a root still required?

You just need an Unlocked boot loader
After waiting a month, I have finally got my Redmi Note 4 and have managed to :
- Unlock the bootloader
- Install TWRP
Do I need to install "lazyflasher-no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip", if I wish to now install Resurrection Remix or any custom ROM, or can I avoid installing this file and install Resurrection Remix, if I don't want to root my phone?

You don't need to flash lazyflasher.zip on a custom Rom. Root? Most if the Roms are rootless..
Thanks Sachin.
Somehow I've managed to root the device and I'm not sure how. All I did after the above was install Resurrection Remix with GApps. I installed Titantium Backup, which confirmed root access. Is there anyway I can unroot it?
Why would you want to unroot? If the bootloader is unlocked there is no reason to not root a device. Flash Magisk and go ahead.
