Unlocked Note 8 on Verizon, I'm getting the same issue as S8/S8+ users. No comment from Samsung as of right now on the situation, just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as me? I haven't noticed any sort of pattern, just missing many texts from both single and group chats, and it doesn't matter the app. I just noticed today I am missing calls as well. The S8/S8+ issue is on all carriers and unlocked. Anyone else not getting their calls or texts? What model and carrier are you on?
I've had random voice mail, but one time I know of.

I'm having the same issue. I have a Note 8, unlocked, running on T-Mobile using the default Samsung messages app. I keep missing occasional texts from my wife's iPhone 7 and have now even missed a phone call or two. It seems to be random as some messages go through just fine while others don't. When testing at home, I can't get the problem to replicate itself. The iMessage issue doesn't apply to me as I haven't been on an iPhone in over a year and have received texts just fine until now. I had wifi calling turned on, but have since turned it off and that hasn't helped. I was using Google Messenger for a short time, but the missing texts are while I'm on the Samsung Messenger. I've changed the default text app off for Samsung Text and back on to see if that helps as some people have mentioned it. So far (last couple days), it seems to be okay, but since it's a random thing, it will take time to know for sure if it's fixed. Really frustrating as text is such a basic phone component and honestly I use it far more than making phone calls so Samsung needs to fix this ASAP.
I had issues when I had Advanced messaging turned on, it caused all kinds of issues for me. Mms wouldnt load, messages took forever to send. I turned it off issues gone. Not saying that is whats causing your issues but try turning it off in message settings see if that helps.

Yes I'm having this problem, missing texts mostly from my gf. I was Google messenger now back on default Samsung messenger seeing if that helps. I'll contact Samsung today. I went through my carrier troubleshooting (cricket) and I don't think it's them. Never had a problem on my s7 edge. Fyi have an unlocked note 8 from best buy
I tried switching from global to LTE/CDMA and I just found out I had a missed text from my boss this morning. This is not cool. Please can anyone help?
Are your messaging apps battery optimized/dozed? I would double check that.

I'm receiving double text messages now on a lot of my text messages I receive. It doesn't seem to matter who the text message is from. It's happened after I upgraded the Radio, DCD ROM, and Bootloader to the latest versions below. I don't know if that's what caused it or if there is something wrong with the Verizon Service and I should call Verizon. Can anybody help me with this? Thank you!

It is definitely on their end...happens on Sprint to randomly....wont do a lot to call though as they don't have a clue as to why it happens,,,,,you will get the run around...."everything is fine on our end",,,lol
I know i have had this happen to me on alltel a couple times normally give it a couple days and the issue resolves itself no real point in calling CS they will just walk you through a bunch of stuff that have nothing to do with the issue
Are you using HTC home, by any chance? I've had this issue quite a few times before. I haven't had any dupe text messages after I uninstalled HTC Home - Just a thought.
No, but I'm using HTC Homeplug 1.12.0.0, but it was installed via the Kitchen, so I don't think it can be uninstalled. I guess I'll wait a week or so and if it keeps happening I'll contact Verizon if it does. Thanks.

It's still happening but not as often as it was doing it. I complained to them a while ago about getting email notifications as a SMS everytime I got a new hotmail email message. I wonder if they did something while they were working on this complaint. The SMS was from OZMail wish is a Verizon applicaton for email that I used, but stopped using. Well, I guess I will call them and see what they say.
Hi,
I recently helped a colleague purchase a Galaxy SIII phone here in China, Guangzhou and made sure I checked the phone over completely before I purchased it.
I've done a search on the forums and check out anything that may be similar, but to no avail.
The problem is:
The phone will not receive any text messages, or at least they don't go through to the messaging app.
Text messages were being received normally for around a week
I disabled a bunch of pre-installed Chinese crap that is unfortunately not un-installable as it's baked into the ROM
It happened once, so I factory reset it, and then tested it. The text messages worked fine
I then disabled the Chinese stuff once again and installed Skype. Just to be sure, I sent more test text messages, and they were all received fine.
Around one week later, here we are, she says that text messages are not being received again.
All other functions of the phone are working. Internet / Edge network, sending texts, Play store, everything. Just not the receiving of texts!
I'm fairly confused as to this behaviour, particularly as it seems the text messages are working for a time limited period.
I had some inklings of what it could be:
- The SIII takes a micro-sim, the shop "manually" chopped the SIM using a cutter. Could this have damaged the SIM and caused this behaviour?
- The phone itself is faulty
- Something is up with the China Mobile settings / network and she needs to call them.
What would be your diagnosis, ideas, solutions XDA'ers?
Further information of any kind is, of course, available on request.
**** My ideas for a fix ****
Root the bastard and get a standard UK ROM on the phone to see if it works. However, I have some concerns. Years ago, when I bought my first HTC desire, when I rooted and put a UK ROM on it, I discovered that my phone was an imported Thai version of the phone and almost bricked it into a reboot loop as the phone didn't like a different regions ROM being loaded on.
I had to go through a convoluted process of making a specially edited SD-card to fool the phone into accepting different ROMS. Is this the case with the Galaxy SIII or have times moved on to more sophisticated means?
Thanks.
GJO
Have you try other messaging apps like Hancent SMS or Go SMS to confirm that msg service is not working?
Or maybe the CSC is causing the problem?

Open the stock messaging app. In its menu go to settings. Check that there is a number recorded under message centre. If not use Google to find the number for the carrier you are with and enter it.
I'm on an unrooted phone with a stock Rom and twice messaging has stopped working. The cause was that this number had spontaneously disappeared.

Ok, I've tried:
- alternative messaging apps, and they're not picking it up either.
- the message centre number.
When you say CSC? You mean the carrier code? It was bought in China and fitted with a Chinese ROM, but I'll look at the ROM settings and see what it is.
Thanks.
U dial *#1234# then you can see your csc
CSC – (Consumer Software Customization) Refers to the specific country or carriers for that said firmware is being build.

It's like my phone isn't trying to receive any text messages. It can send text messages out but it won't receive any.
I am using Omega 31.1.

I had the same issue,
I changed the Network options from gsm only to "Auto" mode, and apparently it worked for me.
Hi,
I have T-Mobile. Using an HTC One.
I belong to several MMS groups, where both iPhones and Android phones are involved. For about 6 months, group MMS was perfectly fine, never had an issue.
For the past month, whenever I send a message to the group, I have a 5% success rate of the message actually being displayed properly for everyone. Everyone keeps telling me my messages are blank. Or it will send multiple blanks. I keep getting sh*t from all of my friends telling me T-Mobile sucks and whatnot. "Get an iPhone, get Verizon." Very frustrating hearing this every damn day. It's really starting to piss me off.
Regular SMS is fine. And any messages sent to the group I can see perfectly fine as well. But sending messages isn't working right! Group MMS is very flakey using the stock app! I don't understand what's going on. T-Mobile doesn't seem very helpful.
Is this happening to anyone else? How do we resolve this? Does anyone work for T-Mobile here? This is getting out of hand.
This is NOT the phone. I have wiped it so many times, tried so many different ROMs. It was perfectly fine and started working improperly out of nowhere. No changes, nothing.
I am not the only one!

Apparently it's affecting all T-Mobile users and not just our device. See here for more info:

Same problem. This ALL started when I installed the new Hangouts and enabled SMS. Maybe it messed with something?
Anyway, here's something interesting i've found out.
I get a group MMS from multiple devices. When I send the group MMS, android phones "receive it" (on Tmobile/Att carriers), iPhones "reject it" (Tmobile/Att carriers), and WindowsPhones receive "blank" message. Weird.
I had a problem with picture messages. Checking the "delivery reports" under the mms settings makes this problem disappear for me. Try that!

WiFi calling shuts off the data radio which MMS needs to send messages. I've sent MMS while on WiFI and I will see my LTE signal turn on to send the message. Maybe WIFi calling completely kills the radio which won't allow a message to send.
I checked my settings, I have them set to on for the edge notifications. I send myself email, get texts, while phone is face down, and the edge never lights up. Anybody else experiencing issues?

Are you using the people edge? I had the same issue and I was able to get it working again. It is not an accelerometer issue. I disabled the people edge as soon as I got the phone since I figured I would never use it. After a day or 2 of using the phone I realized the edge lighting was not working at all even though it was enabled. What I did was re-enable the people edge, set a friend to a color and then I had that person text me to see if that was working, which it did, so at that point I was sure it wasn't a broken accelerometer as some users have stated. I then deleted that friend from people edge, (so that all colors were set to default) I once again turned off the people edge and then finally retested the edge lighting and voila! It worked. It must have been some kind of glitch that I reset by re-enabling the people edge and then turning it back off. It has been 2 days and I can confirm it is still working. I hope this might work for you too! Let me know! I don't think it works with hangout though. Try using the regular Samsung messenger.

I haven been noticing that I been missing a lot of calls and getting delayed text messages once in a while I am currently running on the t-mobile network here in the US. I have a one plus 6t as well and I tested it and I receive my calls with no one mention that my phone has went to voicemail. I have even performed a hard rest to see if maybe it was an app or a setting and still continues. Anyone else experiencing the same thing? Call log shows no missed calls and asked several people to text me with the time they sent out the text and it's delayed at times for over 30 minutes thanks in advance
I've had an issue similar, no one could call me until I call them first, Just went straight to voicemail everytime someone tried to call me.. I think it has something to do with the Wi-Fi switch because I turned off the Wi-Fi and turned it back on and it corrected itself. I could still receive msgs but where delayed until then.

Hi mate,
I had similar issues (at least with delayed text's) when locked. It was a battery saving issue, just make the Messages always run without power-saving option enabled.
Had issues with calls when Call over WiFi was enabled (enabled by default), disabled it and now works flawless (even with VoLTE).
Yea, been having this issue since I replaced my S9+ with the Mate 20 Pro.
My MintMobile SIM registers as T-mobile on the Mate 20 Pro. Most of the calls I don't receive and my wife says it goes to voice mail after first ring.
Where in the settings I can make adjustments to help eliminate this issue? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue on MintSim in the US. Messages seem fine but sometimes calls seem to go straight to voicemail. There is no calls over wifi setting on my phone as far as I can tell (and no volte) so I would be interested if there is a fix for this as well. I never had the issue with my P20 Pro but it's happened several times with the Mate 20 Pro.
I'm tempted to manually input the MintSim APN settings but since the signal is very strong with the default T-Mobile settings I'm not sure how that could help.
I'm using the MintMobile Ultra APN settings. If I default to the T mobile settings, mms don't work.

This only happens to T-Mobile and most likely related to WIFI calling, incoming calls goes to voicemail right away for me sometimes (both Note 8 and Mate 20 pro), but my wife on AT&T never had this issue

Strange. With the default T-Mobile settings mms works for me and my signal app shows a stronger signal than with the Ultra settings.
Which signal app are you referring to? For me, I usually have to turn wifi off for mms to come in or sent out. It doesn't work when the wifi is On, with either the T-mobile or Ultra APNs.

Hi everyone,
Did anyone find a solution to the problem? I still have an issue with text messages and calls. I'm wondering if I should get a new phone....
Actually I just found one. I believe it has to do with Wi-Fi calling being on. Normally this option is supposed to be usable under settings and mobile networks, but since I'm using T-mobile I find the option completely off the phone or so it seems. I downloaded quick shortcut maker from the Google play store. Once opened I just typed in the top search bar Wi-Fi. From there you'll see 3 icons, a phone, settings, and wifi. Select the settings icon, scroll all the way down. Now you should see 2 entries that read Wi-Fi Calling, select the first one, the click on the middle button that says try. Wifi calling should be enabled, just switch it off and that should be it. Attached some screen shots of the process so it shouldn't be difficult. I was going crazy when people said they tried calling so many times but not one I receive or messages that are delayed for up to 30 minutes. I hope this solution helps anyone in this situation
Wi-Fi calling on my Mate 20 Pro is grayed out. So that cannot be the case for me.
Yea, my wife gets very upset when she calls me. Out of 10 calls, just one will come through. She will leave a voice mail, and hours later I will get the notification.
Sent from my LYA-L09 using Tapatalk
You selected the first one? When trying the second wifi calling option in shortcut maker the wifi calling was greyed out and the slider didn't work at all
Same issue
I've been fighting with my Mate 20 Pro since the day I got it. I'm on T Mobile. Some calls go to voicemail, some calls make it through. It's hit and miss. I haven't been able to find a common denominator. There's also a cellular data issue with the phone. When streaming video, the connection will suddenly drop out. The phone shows good signal, but it loses data. Turning the cellular data off and back on again fixes this issue. I think the data issue may still be related to the Visual Voicemail issue that T Mobile has with these phones. I was able to get Visual Voicemail to work (mostly) but I think the data is still affected by the Visual Voicemail issue , albeit to a much lesser extent than then it was before. I've been in contact with T Mobile and they have no solution to this issue. They did a sim card swap for me, but the issue persists.
Same sort of problem here. I'm on a KPN business contract, have been for many years. Never a call problem with the mate 9 and 10 but if people call me on the m20pro they don't hear the dial tone so they usually hang up thinking my phone is switched off or something. This really sucks!
I loved the m10pro especially but the m20pro is not my friend due to the calling issue and the really crap LG screen.
I've posted this issue on T-Mobiles Forum in hopes of getting them to take notice. Here is the link.
