I'm looking for something like the Gumdrop drop-tech case that works with the keyboard dock.
I have a problem with tablets, specifically busting them into millions of pieces due to my clumsiness (I'm looking at you, stupid slippery iPad 2). I've seen some leather cases that work with the dock, but I'm not sure those are protective enough.
Is there a case out there that has a fair degree of protection and that will allow me to use the dock?
I see some people have used the ghost armor with the dock.. does that stuff offer shock/drop protection, or is that just scratch protection?
I'm kind of assuming there's not a protective case that'll work, and if that's the situation, can I just get a transformer-whatever-connection to USB adapter so that I can use a standard USB keyboard.. or maybe even a BT keyboard?
Why not just preorder the Gumdrop. Looks like an awesome case. Never seen one like it.

Yeah, I would love that case.. but it doesn't work with the KB dock
I doubt any case like the Gumdrop will ever be made that works with the keyboard. People just don't generally make cases in that style for netbooks, which is what the Prime becomes when attached to the keyboard.
You might be better off just going with a normal light case, and then buying Accidental Damage insurance from Squaretrade. http://www.squaretrade.com/pages/our-coverage
For $99 you get two years of full coverage from damage caused by accidental drops and spills as well as damage caused by normal every day use. There isn't even a deductable on tablets (there is on phones).
Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) covers you from spilt liquids and dropped or damaged items. It's exactly what you need, whether you carry your laptop to work, bring your digital camera on vacation, or take your cell phone and MP3 player everywhere you go.
There is a $50 deductible when claiming accidental damage on Cell Phones only; SquareTrade has waived the deductible for all other ADH claims. There is no deductible if your issue occurred during normal use. ADH only covers new items - see complete details here.
ADH is only offered at time of initial warranty purchase, and can not be added once the Care Plan has been purchased.

Perfect.. was not aware of that! Do you know off-hand if anyone on the forums has used that before? I'm always hesitant on the "extended warranty" type things.. they sound good, but once you try and use them..
off to do more research on that. One of those leather cases that works with the prime + dock, and then squaretrade for when the dog (ok, probably me) inevitably knocks the thing off my coffee table.

I have not used SquareTrade but I know a lot of people who have used it to protect phones and iPads who have nothing but nice things to say about the company.
Also Resellerratings.com gives them a 9.75/10 (an unheard of score) based on over 1200 customer reviews.

As a side note, I found this in another thread:

The case on offer doesn't cover the keyboard dock, however since this person is making custom cases he might be willing to work with you to get a dock-compatible case as well.
So my Aunt saw my Galaxy Note 3 weeks ago. Last Easter weekend, when we saw each other again, I was surprised that she bought one too.
Anyway, I tried it and noticed right away how awesome her screen protector was. Of course, she didn't know anything about it and I'm 100% sure she got ripped off by the AT&T store (reseller, not corporate). So I called the AT&T reseller store and asked what skin she installed on my Aunt's note.
It was the "Wireless Solutions Anti-Glare/Anti-Fingerprint Screen Protectors"
After doing some research on where I could buy it online. Of course, I check the seller from resellerratings, etc. But unfortunately, I can't find any review from the stores I found it was selling. After looking further, I became confused if this are legit sites. Anyway, here are my findings.
I found that you can buy here:
http://www.buywirelessnow.com/smartwireless/buy/accessories/cat/617/accessory/1256578
and amazon here:
http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Solutions-SCRNI717ANT2PKSDL-Anti-Glare-Anti-Fingerprint/dp/B007B6YO2Q
First of all, I thought the amazon one was good, but the picture looks like the international version of the note. Even though the manufacturer part # is for the at&t note.
Now, I'm not sure if buywireless is a legit site. I would like to risk $9.99 but of I would still prefer amazon just to be sure.
Anybody shopped from buywireless.com? Or anybody tried that screen protector?
By the way, the screen protector was really awesome. It had better spen accuracy compared to my el cheapo screen protector. I really want to get this. Please help.
Thanks
EDIT: I forgot to mention that AT&T authorized reseller store is selling it for $25. Ripoff.
UPDATE:
Ok I bought one of these from an AT&T store (reseller, not corporate) because it was $15.
It is the worst $15 ever spent. Don't buy this. It makes the screen rainbow-like (I dont know how to describe it).
Does anti-glare/anti-smudge make this in general? Like rainbow like?
Thanks
keplenk,
I highly recommend you ask them for a refund and buy one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007CP5EW0/ref=oh_o05_s00_i01_details
or
http://www.amazon.com/SPIGEN-SGP-Pr..._1_6?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1334627017&sr=1-6
I personally have the Glass and absolutely love it. It is well worth the money and even if it doesn't prevent all the figure prints, it does stop a good amount.
As for the scratch protection, that's what I really bought it for. Think about it $35 now or $200+ later.

i Second that, i love the glass one too, i agree it does not avoid all finger prints but i love it, its just like ur screen just protected and scratch free. worth the 35.00 IMO, i even tried the ZAGG Invisible shield protector (which i was always a big zagg fan) and i still prefer the glass

I highly recommend you to use Amazon next time for this type of thing, If you were unsatisfied with this product, Amazon would most of the time give you a refund.
This is why I do most of my shopping through Amazon now instead of Bestbuy or what not.

No problem, Good luck man!
P.S. Take your time when doing the Glass, I also recommend you do this right after a shower. I have a pesky spec of dust on my screen but I'm afraid that taking it off would not adhere properly. It's not worth $35 to get a spec a dust out haha...
Has anyone tried all 3? If so, how do they compare in terms of thickness, grip, fit and feel?

i think it should be common sense to anyone that if you buy a flexible rubber/tpu/material product with ink printing, its gonna chip off... until manufacturers develop a method of inking the flexible material in an embedded state.

I also had very bad experience with customer service @ Cruzerlite . There was a problem with my order, was supposed to be fixed. I was promised a refund, then never got another response. I emailed them over and over, NOT EVEN A SINGLE RESPONSE. The case I got from them I use on my phone at work, because I don't want to ruin any of the decent cases I have. I also suggest as do previous posts, DO NOT waste your time with a company that has such piss poor customer service. I've also heard other people having issues receiving/using gift cards - DO NOT waste your time/money buying those for friends/family either ..... IMO.

I felt the same way so I bought another TPU case from ebay, and liked it better but it didn't protect the camera enough(camera stuck out past the case). I just recently bought one of the S-line TPU cases on ebay for $4.75 shipped and it's my favorite one yet. Here's one cheaper, but it's from China so the shipping could take a couple weeks: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-EVO-4G-LTE-TPU-S-Line-Wave-Case-Black-/170881969914?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item27c95beefa#ht_662wt_1399
The Incipio NGP has me curious, though. I think I would probably like it even more, but I'm hesitant to spend $20+ on a case that I might not like as much as my $5 case.

So far, I haven't dropped mine, but my guess would be that they would perform the same. They seem to be about the same thickness. The s-line covers the buttons, but they work very well. Well worth the money and the wait (about 10 days). I ended up buying all four colors (white, black, purple and smoke). The smoke and the purple are transparent so the HTC logo and the aluminium sides show through.

I would probably say it would be better for drop protection than the Diztronic only because it covers the buttons and seems to stick out a little bit further past the screen around the edges.

Hey guys, I painfully bought a Tmobile Note 3 off a local cell phone store for 660 (New but without the extra nibs). I do have a little bit of buyers remorse in terms of the price cause it seems people are selling their used ones for $580. After haggling with Squaretrade, I got a 2 year accident portection for 97 bucks but I'd have to pay a 75 dollar deductable should I need to file a claim.
I was wondering if I could bypass insurance by getting an Otterbox? Have any of you used it with your Note 3 and how protective is it? Or are there better alternatives to insurance and Otterbox?
The guy says the phone has been unused and that insurance should work with Samsung but that it might be weird since I am using the phone on MetroPCS instead of Tmobile...Is there any truth to this?
The guy gave a case which I am using similar to this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXO-STRETCH...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item19e207cdbd

So you're saying that it would be better to get a Spigen? And no need for insurance?
I hear good things about otterbox in terms of drop protection like the previous post mentioned. Spigen has the slim armor and slim armor view that have decent protection and seidio should be coming out with their obex if waterproof is something you are looking for.
I wouldn't shell out 170 for insurance that might be needed. Better spent on a tough case and protection for your phone. Just try your best to handle it like the 600 dollar device it is.
The case you linked seems to have lots of cushion material too. Tacking on extra accessories is also increasing the price you pay for that phone.

For max protection get the Trident Kraken or Otterbox defender. Keep in mind that there are those random freak accidents that no case will protect you from. Insurance gives you peace of mind and the deductible is way cheaper than buying a new one out of pocket.
With that said, I have no insurance. I paid $350 for my Note 3. I have a Tempered Glass screen protector, 2 UAG cases and a Trident Cyclops.
I've got the Trident Kraken and insurance from a company called Ensquared. It covers everything other than intentional damage.
case
I have both the case and insurance I'm paranoid I have the zero lemon 10000 mah battery case and a slim armor and slim armor view I'm not a fan of the bulk of otterbox without the functionality so I opted for the zero lemon but all in all I suggest to go ahead and shoot for the otterbox it's good protection from most things besides freak accidents also samsung doesn't have insurance if you crack your phone or have issues with the the device that are not deemed manufacturer error then samsung will not replace it
^^ +1, I'm paranoid too. I have the Otterbox plus insurance. I paid full retail and can't afford to replace the phone at full cost anytime soon.

How did you manage 350?
From the thread it looks like the consensus is to keep insurance and get the Otterbox? I do like the look of that slim hard case that has the little window for S view. How tough is that guy? Does the Otterbox or Trident allow easy access to the s-pen. Thats one thing I don't like about the case I have. Most times if I need it in and out like the at the gym, I just leave the pen outside
PS: Anyone know how long those nibs last/when it looks like you need to replace them?
I have looked at deals and started hearing horror stories from people buying their Note 3 somewhere else and I think I'll just let the AWESOMENESS of this phone help me forget the pain of shelling 665 for it

$99.00 for 2 years, cracks and water damage and theft/loss included. 75.00 deductible. Intentional damage means doing drop or hammer tests.
I am shopping around for a case on my new phone before it arrives. I came across this case by Cimo which is $5.00 and looking at the images and description is seems like it is too good to be true what do you guys think? Can they be scamming? It has no reviews yet either so i am hesitant. Looks to have all the bells and whistles of the other $15-20 cases and i see no promo or anything it is straight off the bat $5.00.

Eh hell, I just ordered it for fun to see how it goes....I'll let ya know how it goes.

I mean i know Amazon has our back but still you cant be too safe these days. I saw they have lot of reviews and popular models but it seemed so fishy to me that they would be selling something that offers this much quality for only $5.00 Spigen has similar cases for $15.00 and that makes you think twice. But thanks for the advice. I am thinking about getting the Turquoise which color did you order?

I did black, since that's the phone color I have
I think it might be a new model. Not uncommon to see a crazy deal for that kinda thing. Wouldn't be surprised to see the price go up to $12 or $15 in next few weeks....
If you think about it, Samsung (free GearVR and 6 games) and T-Mobile (free year Netflix) are doing the same to get the S7 units flowing out the door fast and furious.
I currently have clear TPU on it. I don't know why I always order them...I think they'll look good, then forget that they just end up looking cloudy with fingerprints haha.
I gotta say, if that turns out to be a nice case, thank you. I haven't had a chance to really dig through all the available accessories for this device just yet.
I also saw the case with this post looks very good for the price definately worth trying out. Lets see how the blue/gold combo turns out. Worst case you can return it Amazon is the best in the customer service business besides Costco that i know of and maybe Ebay sometimes with that money back guarantee.
Amazon all the way here for cust svc. Ebay takes 2 weeks before they'll step in if there's a problem. With Amazon, I had a mattress that I bought...didn't like it. They gave me a full refund and let me keep it. Refund processed same day as call. That's crazy good customer service.
I'm looking forward to this case.

Actually this case is even cheaper free shipping and under $5 for a case of this quality. Im going to order this one as well. These deals are getting lower and lower every time a flagship is released.

Sweet! Then you can start a thread "Review of my $5 case collection"
I'm getting in on the freebie TechMatte glass screen protector offer.
Man this phone is becoming cheap to protect. Normally I've spent $30 or so to protect it. This time? Under $8.
Don't think there's anything wrong with this one. It's a safe bet. Worst case scenario is you have a dud $5 case.

For the guys who wanted an update: I got my case its great feels really good and fits really snug i love it. Here is a review of the case someone made (not me) if you guys are wondering what it feels and looks like live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufTroV7bU8g
You still using this case? How's it holding up and does the bottom part come off easily? I'm wondering if it'll fall off when I'm pulling the phone out of my pocket.
