Dash Chargers from A Plus on Amazon? - OnePlus 5 Accessories

Does anyone have any experience with A Plus products on amazon?
They seem to have a car charger: https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Onep...83&sr=8-1&keywords=oneplus+5+car+dash+charger
and a charging cable: https://www.amazon.com/Oneplus-Cabl...?srs=7297636011&ie=UTF8&qid=1507734706&sr=8-1
I was curious if these are safe for the phone and if they indeed provided dash charging.

No one...?

There is a review on Amazon that states that it does function as far as charging at 3+ amps below 75% charge but no independent verification that the charge rate tapers off as the state of charge exceeds 75% and above. Other eBay sellers are offering the same charger and do indicate that it performs identically to the DASH 1+ branded charger. It is easy enough to verify proper operation by observing the performance with the ampere app though. I saw no reports of obvious failure either. I do not have this charger to actually test so the above is based on what info I could locate with various search terms.
At the price including a DASH cable which is also required for proper functioning it looks like a decent gamble.

Well, The charging tech is supposed to be in the charging brick or the car charger. That's how they get the fast charging with no heat and also charge as fast as when using the device as with the screen off. OnePlus does not release that tech for others to use (their patent I believe) so I do not believe there is anything out there that is truly dash charging. The actual dash car charger is only $30 from OnePlus so for $10 more you get the official one (that's what I did and mine came with the cable too for free). To me it's not worth wasting time and money dealing with claims from amazon sellers.

Yeah, that's a good point. If oneplus had their charger listed on amazon with prime shipping, then it would be an easier choice. But if you add $7 for shipping then it's almost $40... Not sure I can justify spending $40 on a car charger.

It seems it´s the same as this in Aliexpress with another brand:

These DASH charger technology is an OPPO patent on the VOOC tech. What makes it function as a fixed voltage variable current charger is the feedback loop in the cable which is unique to this charging system. As this tech is still under patent protection I would expect these off brand chargers to function as specified but have yet to see any real proof. There are several chargers that are marked "DASH" and listed as such on eBay. OPPO and OnePlus are using this quick charge system and the other phones are using Q2 or Q3 rapid charge.

Well I agreed with you up until you said "I would expect these off brand chargers to function as specified but have yet to see any real proof." I think you meant you WOULDN'T expect. That's because they would have to pay OPPO to use their patent. That would then make those other chargers more expensive.

When you compare the price of the 1+ branded DASH car charger to all of these other knockoffs that claim to function identically then buying one of the knockoff chargers is likely a false economy. Beyond that the charger listed on eBay, from China, was marked on the face DASH and claimed a 5V 3.5A spec. but no actual detailed further info. Several others make the 5V 3.5A claim as well. If OPPO is collecting royalties it has to be minimal. These chargers are at a higher price point than other generic chargers so who really knows. Sooner or later someone will do an in depth review though.
Fast charging lithium batteries is a recent advance and trying to go low cost is not a good idea when dealing with a battery that can combust with no warning.

Looking for a powerful car charger!

Hey guys I'm looking for a car charger that will charge the phone while running google navigation. The current one I have cannot keep up. Basically the phone is using more battery than the charger is supplying so eventually even though it's charging it will die. Please help with some suggestions.
The higher the output amps the better, most online don't say.
This one has a 1A (1000 mA) which is the highest I've seen until now.
http://www.cellphoneshop.net/2usbcar.html
This says 2.1A.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004U4RF7I...e=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B004U4RF7I
Here's one that has 1 of each (1A & 2.1A):
http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/1921
You need to be careful about using one too high for the phone as well.
The output of the wall charger that comes with the phone is 1A. Find an USB car charger that outputs 1A and you should be fine.
This will run Pandora&Navigation at the same time and still charge, but not by much. But a least it doesn't discharge.
*LINK*
The phones are only meant to charge up so fast. once you attempt to go over that limit, you risk causing damage to your phone. don't look for something with so much power it charges it in 20 minutes. it will kill the phone and battery.
Is 2.1A safe from charging phones?
Sent from my EVO 3D
I doubt the phone will charge any faster even if you get a 2A charger, but there are many chargers that only charge the phone half as fast as you possibly could. Some chargers only provide 0.5A (500mA, conforming to the PC USB spec) and some 1A chargers will only provide 0.5A because of the pin out on the connector plug... You can tell this is happening if under battery stats in settings it says it's charging from USB instead of AC. You could short some pins on said chargers to fix that but it's usually easier to find a proper one for $3 or whatever.
Even if you have a 1A charger you could manage to discharge faster than it charges if you're streaming music while using navigation for a while and/or you happen to be in a low signal area (which eats battery like crazy since the radio goes wild trying to find a better signal/tower).
I have the one in the link below. It is OEM HTC for the Thunderbolt, and has
2x 1A Ports. It keeps up with
Pandora and GMaps. My old charger would not (it was 500mA.) The cool thing is that both ports are 1A in a small form factor, and it has a white LED that illuminates them. It comes with a coiled cord which is well built.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The rating indicates the maximum current the charger is capable of. The phone will decide how much to draw.
Actually, the high rating is not enough. The charger should have a certain circuitry ( a resistor between data pins) to "tell" phone that it can supply higher current. 2.1A iPad charger doesn't have it because it was designed to communicate with iGadgets. It will act like a regular 500mA charger when connected to an Android phone.
A lot of the 1amp chargers that you see will still only charge your phone at 500ma. Unless USB pins 2 and 3 are shorted together (or have less then 200 ohms between pins 2 and 3), the phone will think it's connecting to a computer and only draw 500ma. I modified a few 1amp chargers to actually charge at 1amp instead of 500ma. See this thread:

Are you SURE you're getting the right result with the Current Widget? There's been quite a few threads on this topic and it doesn't seem that the Current Widget correctly supports our phone. Per that widget, I'm getting 400ma current draw normally - without running any active apps. When I use various chargers, that number goes up or down seemingly at random, LOL.
My most powerful charger, which provides 2A on one port and 2.1 A on the other - makes the widget report only 35 mA.
In short - I wish there was an app that correctly measures current draw on our phone, but I haven't found one based on multiple threads on the topic.
I use Battery Monitor Widget. I definitely see the difference between 500mA and 1A chargers. Some current form the charger is consumed by the phone itself, so it is not possible measure the actual draw from the power supply without an external meter.

Get the Amazon one. Trust me! I have one and all my buddies have them. It is by far the cheapest and most powerful charger you can find.
My buddy did a review of it on here:

I have the one from Sprint with the AC adapter in it that pops out and it works well. Granted it was a bit pricey, but, it does the job and the battery does in fact charge while using telenav navigation and listening to music through the stereo as well. Slowly, but, at least it doesn't discharge while being charged....LOL...

I have a Motorola that also has a USB port in it and i little slide cover for the usb port when you're not using it, works great! I love it an highly recommend it. I charge my 3D and 4th Gen iPod Touch with it at the same time.

This is one of the few chargers that would power the Palm Touchstone reliably. There was an extensive thread at Pre Central on car chargers. Just make sure it's the SPN5400A like in the link above. Some other Motorola chargers have a lower output.
On the E3D it shows charging on AC.

Battery Pack Compatibility with Tab 2 7.0?

I currently have an older 1800mA Kensington battery pack which drains the power on my Tab like nobodies business. I've been looking at a replacement, and have read conflicting reports of these working/not working. Anybody have one that can confirm works with the Tab 2 7.0?
And if it does work, are you using the stock cable?

Ouch, that is quite expensive (or least the one I've found on Amazon is)!
But thanks for confirming there is an alternative, and maybe hope for one of the 2 devices I'm looking at.
Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh specifications page reveals only 1A output at 5V, meaning it may or may not work depends on the room temperature.
As written on the Tab's original charger, the power controller on the tablet can pull out as much as 2A power from a charger. This means that on a charger (either portable or wallmount) that's only rated at 1A, the charger will work at its maximum capacity. It will all comes down to the build quality of the charger, and mostly its heat dissipation capability. If the charger gets too hot, it will cut of its power.
With that being said, you may wan't to stay away from Incredicharge. There's no written spesification nor contact number on the official page. Getting this is gambling based on customer reviews only.
You might wan't to scout some more alternatives, preferably one with a minimum of 2A output. But if it comes down to those two, Trent iCruiser IMP1000 11000mAh is the better bet.
NB : Original cable works fine.
NB : Just reread my reply, i sound like an old man talking to his grandchild Really sorry about that.
Both of these provide 2A output.
Anker Astro3 10000mAh - $59.99

Ha! No problem on the "advice", and I can probably guarantee I'm older than you, so I'm the one that feels like the grandfather!
I don't think voltage is a major concern, its more the fact that I've read that some Samsung devices simply won't charge because of the data/info being sent from the battery via the cable. Amazon is full of "This doesn't work", which I take with a grain of salt most of the time, but there are enough references to the Galaxy Tab to make me think there might be something in it here.
Either way, I've left it too late to make a decision this time, so I'll revisit when I get back from my travels. Thanks!
I have an isound 8000 mAh external battery. the owners manual says 2.1A output. I have charged my gTAB 2 7.0 (p3110) and my galaxy s (gt-i9000) both from around 15% battery life to full with one light left on the external battery.

Charger supplied is woefully underpowered (UK Moto G4 16GB) (NOT turbo charger)

Hi all
I am returning to xda after years. Nostalgia aside, this is more of a warning post for people looking to buy this phone. The standard charger I got with this phone outputs 5V, 550mA. Simple math shows that this charger will take 6 hours to charge the 3000mAh battery. In practice, I managed to fill from 5% to 45% in about 2.5 hrs before realizing what an awful charger I had been given and switched to my old Nexus 5 charger (5V, 1200mA). Then from 45% to 100% took less than 90mins. So the battery is OK. The software is fine and there are no background apps causing problems. If the software had been an issue then even my Nexus 5 charger would have had trouble...
Motorola support so far has been nearly useless but I have escalated the issue. One support guy told me that they expect a 4 hour charge time. This equates to a 5V 750mA charger. Does the company still think we are using Moto Razr from 2005? Another guy wasted half an hour asking scripted questions... I am actually shocked to know that such woefully underpowered phone chargers are even ordered for production these days. Even a USB 2 port supplies 5V 500mA and that wasn't even designed to act as a charger!
TLDR - buy the phone with the knowledge that the standard charger may not even work as paper weight (it is actually very light haha).
I can confirm this. It's kind of useless when it comes bundled with a phone that advertises turbo charging.
Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I second this. My phone went to 0% and the charger is useless to get it back to life lol
Phone still blinking white led and unable to go on even after 1 hour charging. T_T
that's how the business runs and why the turbo charger sells separately.
Just ordered the 16gb G4. Would something like this from Amazon do the same job as Motorola's own turbo charger?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00KD1XQT8
It sounds like a little mis-advertising from Motorola. The one I just ordered said it included a Turbo Power charger.
Sent from my SM-T530NU using XDA-Developers mobile app
The Moto G4 comes with a standard charger, but the phone supports Turbo charging. The G4 Plus comes with the Turbo charger. (and 3MP extra camera res on the back and a fingerprint scanner, that's it)
I'm using the charger I have laying about for charging and they work good enough. However, I use the phone almost never, only for navigating and the 2-3 calls I get per month. (And messing about with sources so I can try to get cm build on it )
Note that the TurboCharger motorola is not necessary.
I used a compatible charger (Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0), and it works well.
20 minutes to reach 15%, and I have the toast that says "TurboPower Connected".
Does that charger have the same voltage and amperage as Motorola's overpriced charger?
I have been doing a lot of reading and research. I am not yet sure if the TurboPower charger will not be included for the U.S. release on July 12th. Doesn't seem hopeful though. Further google searches, after being tempted to buy the Motorola Turbo chargers for the wall AND car, led me to the Qualcomm website. The CPU that is in the the Moto G4, is Quick Charge 3.0 compatible. So, that in turn led me to other brands that sell Quick Charge 3.0 for cars and wall plugs. It sucks that you have to spend extra for the faster charging, but you can go with a much cheaper brand, such as Anker or, yootek, aukey, or choetech. Or whatever. Hope this helps. Just type in 1.5 GHz Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 617 on Google, which will lead you to where I got this information, at the official website for qualcomm.

Knowing Customer Service in the US, particularly Amazon and Motorola, if the G4 doesn't come with the Turbocharger one can just complain to Customer Service for either Motorola or Amazon and complain to get a free Turbocharger. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
EDIT: On the Amazon page it also says the Turbocharger is included with the G4. Either way I think we're good.

You'd be surprised how special US audiences are treated in terms of consumer products and service.
For instance when the New 3DS XL was released the US included a power adapter whereas in the rest of the world was told by Nintendo to use their own charger or buy one separately.

Official 10,000mAh Wireless Charging Battery Bank

Has anyone found where to buy the wireless charging battery bank? I've gone ahead and bought the pad and car charger, but I haven't seen the power bank yet. Maybe I missed it, or it's not out yet...
- UPDATE -
I've decided to update op to be more informative. People help me, I help people. Thanks to @cd993 for help with product searching.
>Buy Here> Giztop - Gearbest - AliExpress - Banggood<Buy Here<
You're not obligated to buy the Xiaomi brand accessories for use with your Xiaomi (or any other) products
Battery has arrived! If anyone wants to see, HERE is the official page (hope you have auto-translate).
The manual contained in the package wasn't in English but here is a similar model's user manual, although the images and single usage is self-explanatory. The Manual recommends charging the battery to full before first use.
Here are two informative statements from the official website:
One charge: Before using the wireless charging function, you need to turn this function on and press the button. For details, please refer to the product manual.
Charging power: The maximum power of wireless fast charge can be up to 10W when it is output separately; the maximum power of USB-C single port output and input can reach 18W, the maximum power of USB-A single port output can reach 18W, and the total power when using two output interfaces Up to 15W.
Here are some images:
After I unlock the bootloader / root+rom, I can't wait to set the charging limit and use wireless chargers all over the place.

Thanks @cd993 !
they're starting to pop up on AliExpress too now. It also looks like the car charger isn't out yet and sellers are just taking preorders.

I'd be curious of one too!
Hi guys, original xiaomi wireless power bank is too expensive for me, so I decided to buy baseus 10 000 mAh wireless power bank, and I'm satisfied. It is only 5W (xiaomi 10W), but for 12€...
Capacity is ok, I fully charged my 8100 mAh tablet battery (by cable) and simultaneously add 10% battery to phone (wirelessly).

Thanks @dukynko !
That's a nice alternative.
Additionally, I've updated the OP to help people out.

How fast does this charge? Is it 20w or slow 5w?
Have a look at ampere app?
10w
Mi 9 doesn't support 10w qi charging so is it only 5W then?

It must support up to 20w wireless charging Original wireless chargers is 10w/20w.
Look on AE... Ebay also.
In this guide you can find some of the best wireless power banks. And they are all compared here, so it’s pretty useful https://geeklah.com/best-wireless-powerbank.html
Hope it is helpful at least to some of you
Hi,
sorry for the silly question, the powerbank can only charge wireless, but NOT be CHARGED Wireless? It is right?

Question S23 Ultra not charging with 5W chargers?

Own 2 Belkin BoostUp 5W chargers that I've used successfully with s21u and s22u since I prefer low and slow overnight charging for battery health. I've had these phones in the past 3 months unfortunately because they've been used and returned due to a defective issue and now in the hands of S23u and hope to keep it lol
Chargers illuminate white and indicate charging on the phone. I ran Ampere as well and it read up to 350mA before it goes orange and refuses charge. It strangely works another 7.5w Insignia charger without issue(800mA). Anyone else encountered this? Is Samsung now starting to exclude very low wattage wireless chargers in hopes that people will buy their chargers? How very environmentally conscientious of them! Hope there's a way to modify this
Buy a proper charger and drop those BoostUps off at the recycling depot.

Ive been charging my Note 20 5G with the 25W fast charging, since I bought it late 2020. I get all of maybe 10 minutes less max screen time, than I got in 2020. And thats probably just margin of error.
Ive charged every Samsung device Ive owned, at their maximum rated wattage, since my S2.
You will have the overall same experience from a L-ION battery, unless you charge it at higher amps than its rated for (which you cant do with any major company's cell phone/tablet/OEM charger).
I dont know where you got that incorrect idea from, but a 25-45W charging speed for the S23 will not degrade a healthy battery.
If it does, warranty it.

Not on an S2 you didn't. I recall they maxed out at 650ma charging. Man, good memories
That official 2000mah extended battery took a good while to top up from low...
Yesterday took 5h10 min to charge it with apple 5W charger...
stupid fck samsung with ''save the planet'' You need 3 parcels + 3 delivery + 3 packaging + 3 everything to complete a 1900$ phone .

25-45W *wired* charging is perfectly fine due to the efficient transfer of power. Wireless charging at 15w will generate significantly more heat and will require an active fan to cool it. Heat will still be generated and that long term applies more wear to the battery. This has been known for a while which is why i wireless charge at lower wattages. Wired charging I send the full 45w. I intend on keeping this device for several years.
I've been using 100W rated magnetic connectors for a couple of years now. They offer the convenience of wireless charging without the heat related issues.

Any down side?
I haven't encountered any. They keep your C-port free of debris and cut down on wear and tear. I've got 2 wireless 15 watt chargers collecting dust now from lack of use.
This is the type I use: USB C Magnetic Adapter
I sourced them from Ali express for 1/3 the price.

Do you use a case? Any incompatibility?
I have a Belkin TrueFreedom wireless charger and a Samsung Charging Pad. Both of these do slow 5W 'overnight' charging when I turn off Wireless Fast Charge in the Settings, and both of them do 10W charging when I turn on Wireless Fast Charge. Battery temperature never exceeds 34C when using these (checked via GSAM). Still love the convenience of wireless charging overnight, with the option of wired charging when I need it.

I use a case; dbrand Grip in this image. No compatibility issues with it, Spigen, UAG or any of the 1/2 dozen other brands that I cycled through with the previous S22 Ultra. FWIW, I settled on the Grip Case for the S23U. It's by far the best of them all.
