Can USB-C devices be connected to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. It has a USB-C port. Is the port restricted to the charger, or can other USB/USB-C devices be connected (e.g., Wi-Fi antenna)?

[Q] HMDI and USB connecting the same time, possible?

Hello everybody.
I wonder if there is the possibility of using the HDMI output along with the USB on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the same time.
I did that in Xoom because it had a dedicated HDMI output and a USB, so it was easily able to connect a HD and while switching on the TV and be able to choose a movie at the time.
There is the possibility of doing the same thing in GT?
I am using the Cyangem 9.
Not on the 7510 without a splitter for the built in port. Not sure if that's even possible. You can always copy the movie to internal memory and play it or connect via wifi to a storage source. That's what I do.

Well using the samsung dock and connecting usb for power, not in charger but in usb port (possible need force usb charging enable, it ll work.
I don't think that Samsung dock has a separate usb port.

No it doesnt have usb port, only samsung style 30 pin port but you can use usb cable in pc port for charging it in order to feed hdmi signal with necessary power and also mount it for data transfer.
I have it and i can check it tomorrow if it works that way (if i remember correct it does).
Fingertyped on Samsung galaxy tab 10.1" 32GB WiFi
Tested it and work like a charm.
Gtab mounted on samsung dock.
Dock connected via HDMI to TV and via 30pin connector to PC USB.
Cheers.

Just received one of these monitors at my work. I tried connecting my S3 with the same outcome. Check out this site: galaxymhl dot com
Samsung has apparently bought into a prorietary MHL connector that is incompatible with other accessories out there (including the ones they ship with their own products!)
I will call customer service. Please do so as well. Let's get our cables!

Which Ethernet Adapter?

Hello Guys
I'm thinking about buying a Ethernet Adapter. Is there only the Samsung USB Hub working or are there other brands compatible with the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 LTE? Could you recommend me something? Is there any speed difference between a usb 2.0 and 3 0?
Is it possible to charge the tablet if it is connected to a Ethernet USB Hub?
Thanks everybody

I watch TV through a website. At the same time, charge the device through the Ethernet USB Hub. My experience is that the device lose power faster than charging. I am not sure but maybe it is faster to charge by directly plugging the cable to the Note PRO than through the Ethernet USB Hub.
i bought the hub with 2 usb 1 ethernet and the charge port, it works well

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 - charging pass-through AND USB connectivity works?

Anyone tried using a USB-C hub for charging pass-through AND USB connectivity, for example using a DAC (AQ Dragonfly Black) while keeping juice up on the Tab S3?
Know that older Samsung tablets did NOT support it!
Here's a good description on the "troubles" being HiFi android user
I've tried a cheaper one and the official Samsung one and for some reason only the Samsung multiport was charging the Tab S3... :S
Have u found another multiport that works??

TAB S6 is not able to connect to external monitor via usbc - hdmi

Hello, I own Galaxy Tab S6 WIFI, with android 12. I had some problems with connection via usbc-hdmi cable before. I had to plug the usbc at first, and secondly had to plug the hdmi into external monitor. This was the only way, how to make my tab s6 start dex with ext. monitor. But now, I am not able to connect the monitor at all. The tablet's just keep saying "USB connected"/"USB disconnected" over and over.
This message appears only if I try to connect external monitor.
Charging and data transfering are without problems.
If I try to connect S21 (exynos) with the same cable and same external monitor, the connection is established immediately.
Any ideas how to fix it?
PS: If I selected wrong thread, I am sorry. In that case I will delete this post.

Don't have such a problem with mine.
Just ordered and received today new adaptor USB-C to HDMI plus 2 m HDMI cable and I plugged my Galaxy tab S6 to an external monitor and I don't have such a problem as DEX appears immediately.
Edit : Forgot to say I also own a USB-C hub with 3 USB type A slot, 1 USB-C slot, with HDMI and VGA slots, Ethernet 1 GB so I could plug a mouse and and a keyboard and there are also working fine with my Galaxy Tab S6 DEX.
I also have an old Galaxy Note 9 and I can do wireless DEX with my external monitor with a Amazon FireTV Stick in pushing the DEX option from drop down "menu" but wireless DEX won't work with my Galaxy Tab S6.
Could probably be fixed with a next update...
For what I know wireless DEX is also working with a Galaxy Tab S7 and/or Tab S7+....

Thanks, does DeX work with hub connected to tablet? And does the hub charging your TS6 simultaneously?
That is my second problem, I am looking for a hub, that might charge tablet via USBC and share the screen at the same time. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Unfortunately, that is due to the port being USB 2.0, not 3.0. The S6 Lite's USB C port literally doesn't have enough bandwidth to transfer video over cable.
The S21 however has a much higher bandwidth USB 3.0 port that can.
All you can do is wirelessly stream Dex/Smartview over Wifi

Hi, thank you for your answer. But i have Tab S6, not the LITE version.
I am successfully using this HDMI adaptor on my S6 which allows charging at the same time (sorry for the UK Amazon link) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Z8XYLKS
