Will they be making a slim fit sports armband for this phone? Or is the 5.5" screen too big to put on the arm?
I always run with my phone on my arm, since Im using Sports-Tracker with the bluetooth heart rate monitor and bluetooth headset. Dont know what I will do if there are no way to carry the phone during workout...

IMO, phones your arm looks ridiculous. Its cumbersome, backward to look at if need to. I've seen some people at my gym with a Note 2 and 3 and it looked like it kept falling down and getting in the way during a dudes work out. I would say a Note 2 or 3 arm band will fit this G3.
I myself use a fanney pack. Its called Nathan 5k Runners waist pack. It fits my Note 3 with case. Its slim, no bulge, doesn't shift and hidden. I use a heart rate monitor and LG Bluetooth head set. No problems

I've seen a guy at my gym with a galaxy mega on his arm. Massive looking. Couldn't imagine having that on my arm while working out.
I use a mw600 and leave my phone in my bag.
Simple question, i'm looking for the best cardboard vr for the Samsung S7, but not the Samsung VR.
I'm will use it with Rifcat/Trinus/etc...
why not Gear VR ("Samsung VR")? that is optimized direct to S7 és S7 edge, the general VR cardboards won't give you same quality

The problem is Rifcat/Trinus... For the best experience (no-lag and better image quality) the recomended connection is usb tethering. Already confirmed both connection, wifi was very laggy, and usb worked beautifully.
Sadly, the Gear VR (sorry, my mistake with the name), don't allow any external usb connection.
And paying for the Gear VR, and not plugin it, is a waste.

Yup... it's kind of different. Most probably will end up in another Chinese plastic cardboard, but i want to use it for Rifcat
And because i'm in argentina, there are just a few models... Vr Box 2.0 (and maybe the 1.0), RITECH Riem Virtual Reality 3D Glasses I & II, and some other carton cardboard solutions.... So most probably i'm kind of screw

I don't understand. I've got a GearVR and I love it! I've been using it in tandem with oculus stuff, and use it with riftcat! USB Tethering works just fine. One complaint that I would have pairing it with your PC is that the S7 is 1440p, which splits up into roughly (If my math is correct, and I never check my math ;P) 800p per eye. Which, no sugar coating it, looks like **** and the aliasing is out the ass. But hey, $100 rift, amirite?

The Oculus store app exclusives and PC Ports, The PC connectivity, and the ability to freeze the GearVR services and play Cardboard native games make this headset really the only choice for mobile VR in my opinion.

Can you please give more info about your version? Here, in argentina, we don't have a variety of hdm... And the Gear VR costs about 2600 ARS... and the typical salary is about 10000 ARS... so, something that costs 1/4 of the common salary, is a lot...

Searching a little further, found that there are 3 official versions of the GearVR:
- First Innovator Edition - SM-R320: Only compatible with Note 4. Nothing refered about the USB port.
- Second Innovator Edition - SM-R321: Only compatible with S6 and S6 Edge. USB port is OTG.

Uhh... Wow, didn't know I'd be in the spotlight here...
(Currently bricked my S7, so I can't provide pics)
Yeah, basic black velcro straps, and the entire piece isn't that cosmetically 'attractive', but I mean, none of these headsets really are. Anyway, standard "GearVR" and "Powered by Oculus" black text on the side. On the underside are two vents and a USB micro port. Other side is ya know, volume up/down, dedicated back button, and touchpad. topside is the focus wheel. On the inside eyepiece is the lenses and the light detector to sense whether or not the headset is on, and inside the outwards face (Where your phone goes) is the feet that hold it, the usb micro plug thing built inside the foot that holds it, and the foot is adjustable for S6/7 and Note. It's a solid "Click" when you switch sizes and there is no possible way it's going to fail. then there's the panel that fits over the front.
Pros:
~Cheap for the quality (Especially name brand like Samsung and Oculus!)
~Wide selection of original games
~Some PC ports exist (Provided you own a BT Controller, you can even play Dreadhalls!)
~The usb port at the bottom is nice and low profile for PC streaming/Charging while playing
~The volume buttons are easy to get to and very helpful
~Not dedicated, (You still have to plug them into your phone) but easy to access and non-damaging 3.5mm headphone jack slot
~Really damn fine lenses used for the build
~Aside from the somewhat cheap plastic used, it is very well put together
~Personally think it's the best looking out of all the headsets out now
~Most games on the store run extremely well and keep their framerates ~60
~Not the most comfortable out of all three headsets out now, but for mobile, it doesn't give your nose papercuts ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) (SHOTS FIRED!!)
~Once you put your phone in, there is no way it's sliding out
Cons
~Let's talk about the front cover. Why would there be a cover without a hole for the camera when there's a passthrough camera mode in the subspace!?
~Not a lot, but some games REQUIRE a BT Controller. (In hindsight of writing this, the target audience for this product probably has more than one)
~Extremely underpowered hardware and low resolution leads to absolutely bad aliasing.
~Overheating is a serious problem on Snapdragon 820 variant
~Fogging. The lenses fog up way to easily. Keep a screen/eyeglass cloth nearby on humid days. (Or go lock yourself in the freezer. Whichever is closer.)
~The touchpad on occasion is somewhat hard to find the center with the headset on
~The touchpad really isn't that great unless you like Dinput controls on a "Touch"pad.
(I would complain about the inability to use the DS4 controller on the S7, but for some reason, it really doesn't work on the entire phone, and that's more of a Samsung problem)

If you are considering purchasing one of these headsets, and need a Bluetooth controller, Stay away from moga like the plague. I personally own one. Cheap plastic, cheap connectors, cheap buttons, and I payed $80 for it. It doesn't even connect every time and it might drop off the connection if you just look at it weird. Really don't get one. I've heard steelseries makes a pretty good android specific controller.

Here, i'm talking about using some mobile VR, plugged to a PC, and with some 3rd party software, be able to play some pc vr games (instability, incompatibility, and a lot sort of problems and issues, are expected).
If you want to search something about it, go and check Rifcat and Trinus...

unfortunately there is no attachable keyboard cover for the S9 yet like there was/is for the S8. I know the camera and fingerprint scanner are different. But would it work (or did someone maybe know someone) who actually tried it and modified the keyboard cover so it works with the S9...

Would be interesting to know.
Remember that the cover-part has a (nfc?) chip and a magnet (near the power key). And also the keyboard part has a tiny magnet in the lower left.
I took one for the S6 Edge apart, and I can see that the S8 is quite similar. See this
So it is NOT just a matter of cutting a larger hole in the cover, the phablet has to be prepared for it with the suitable strategically placed magnetic sensors to detect that it is there.
For fun I have tried to use some of the non S8-variants on the S8, and could get an S8 back to react with the print part from the S6 Edge.
I also tried some of the other backs, but could not get them to work with the S8 (not even with the S8 keyboard)
But as it seems they have stopped production for Note 8 and S8, I think they unfortunately are abandoning the whole idea, so we should be damn lucky if the S9 got the correct sensors AND even in the same place as on S8

Just had a look at the ifixit tear downs of the S8- and S9-, and it does not look promising for a total fit....
On the S8, the magnet at the back has its centre approximately 32mm from the top, and 10mm from the power-switch side.
So if I can measure correctly, the magnetic switch must be the tiny little component mounted north of the square chip with "C3 559 X791" (north of the orange square) here, but the S9 got no chip at that location AFAICS from this.
BUT the S9 does have a similar looking component closer to the vibrator, so it MIGHT be prepared for a cover...
The magnet on the key-part is about 16mm from the bottom and 13mm from the volume rocker side. Just north of the tip of the 3.5mm plug. And there IS a similar small component on the other side of the small print on both the S8- and S9-...
ADD II
Apart from the above add, note that surprisingly the keyboard with an S8 ALSO works both in Aeroplane mode and with NFC turned off, so the communication with the case must be a dedicated circuitry.
So that has to be there for the S9 too...
ADD: I just verified that the chip is on a small plate, and thus NOT with any antenna in the back plate (updated blog post linked above), so it SHOULD be possible to move that to another location, if the circuitry is placed elsewhere on the S9-
I just tried the s8 keyboard and I could put it on my s9 (snapdragon). It was a very tight and unstable fit, but when I did get it to click the phone recognized it and resized the screen accordingly. Unfortunately the keyboard below wasnt alugned with the buttons, and there was mostly no response. When it did respond I got a key registered from the row below and to the side, e.g. when pressing 't' it would sometimes register as 'f'. Any ideas on how to get this to work properly?

Very interesting that it works that much! Thanks for the info! This at the least proves that the a S9 was designed for a keyboard.
To bad about the slight misalignment though. Do you see the same displacement in all columns? I mean does a W also give an A, and a P an L? (when it does anything)
You COULD try to take the print out and see if a slight move would fix it. But there is no guarantee, as they could have changed the spacing in either direction too (perhaps squeezed in an extra column)
Why SamSung doesn't make for S9?

However, the Samsung Keyboard app, which is responsible for software support of the cover keyboard, does not have a separate kb-cover's layout for the S9 device. This app has layouts for S6, S7, S8, etc. Note 8 is the latest model supported.
Keyboard cover working in exactly the same way as the smart covers. The chip on the back of the case tells the phone the accessory ID, and the magnet on the front signals about the event - the keyboard is connected or the smart cover is closed.
This means that any Samsung smartphone that has version 3 of the Samsung Keyboard app (versions 4 and 5 no longer support cover keyboards) and can detect Samsung accessories, will work with cover keyboards, even those intended for older models. The only problem is shape of the case, I mean geometrical parameters.
1) You connect the keyboard
2) The phone recognize it via back chip + magnet
3) Samsung Keyboard app began to receive signals from it and process them
So no, most likely S9 was not designed for the separate keyboard, but this phone supports keyboard covers from older models.
I have several cover keyboards for S6, S7, S8. I'm thinking of adapting one of them for Note 8 (because it's impossible to find an official overlay keyboard for it!) or another Samsung phone, such as S9 + or Note 9, for which such an accessory was not released at all. Here is my plan:
1) Take a standard protective back cover, glue the chip from the old keyboard cover to it, cut two grooves to snap the front piece with keyboard into place.
2) (most difficult part for me) Design and 3D print a new front part of the keyboard case. Extract the keyboard module and magnet from the old keyboard cover, and fit it into the 3D printed front part.
3) Modify and rebuild the Samsung Keyboard APK to change the XML layout in order to match it the physical layout of the buttons. I may need to get root access to install a modified application, or I may not - IDK, need to try.
I think this should work. At least it looks like it should work.
Unfortunately, I don't have much time for this activity, so I don't know when I'll do it. But maybe it will help someone in his research. Good luck!
