Hello,
I will start by apologizing if this is the wrong thread to ask my question and for any and all grammar mistakes it may contain.
I am interested if , on a rooted phone , the check granting carrier privileges to an app can be bypassed.
The reason is quite simple , I need to test the native visual voicemail for an upcoming project and the customer is stuck in negotiations for pushing it's app to the Store.
My questions are:
Q1: Is is possible to bypass the check and edit the relevant keys directly?
Q2: Is there already such an app?
Q3: If not what is the process for requesting such an app/process ( I'm doing this with a limited budget but I will try to make it worth your time ).
Thank you!
Hi
Since I can't post links yet, just google "UICC android" and folow the link "UICC Carrier Privileges | Android Open Source Project" for more detailed information.
Carrier privileges are only set when the certificate you use to sign your .apk is the same as the one loaded into specific SIM applet. This means that in order to have your app get that permissions, your client needs to have your app certificate sent via OTA to the simcards that you want the app to work with.
Other than that, you would need to have your application installed as a system app, which means your app would have to be signed with the device manufaturer's certificate.

I purchased an S5820 Samsung Ace in Shanghai. It was the only one that I found that could work on China Mobile's 3G service.
Used Amazon.com for apps and downloaded a ton of apps from freewarelovers.com
Only problem left is that there is : I can get my gmail in the mail app, but I cannot sync contacts or my calendars because it doesn't give me Google in the accounts list.
They have all these chinese providers there: KaiXin, and RenRen, as well as Skype as possible Accounts to ADD but NO Google...
Anyone have any ideas?

try flashing a new rom
best solution i can think is to flash a new rom
Phone is Samsung Ace S5820, a special version made for China Mobile... I doubt there is anyone that made such a special rom...
Any way to modify a ROM?
Solved:
In the Accounts, there is an option for Exchange / Active Sync account…
Username is: m.google.com/[email protected]
Domain is m.google.com
You have to let it fail once or twice, then it will give you the option to edit the username and domain, which it will have totally screwed up in the process.
I had the same problem, i resolved it by rooting, loading clockworkmod recovery, backing up then using CWM installed from a sdcard zip file one of the following from
wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps
In my case 2.3.6 for the 5570i

Hello Community,
i have a little Question about the customizing of a tool.
I am a Field Force Engineer in Austria for Orange and T-Mobile and have extracted a tool named GENEX PHU from a Android Huawei U8800 Ideos X5. Now i am looking for a developer who can customize this tool for all devices, because it works only on the Huawei device. I can install the app to my HTC Wildfire or to an ALCATEL ONETOUCH990, but it will close after starting. Unfortunately i don't have the knowledge to make this job by myself.
The Tool is a Network Monitor / Field Test with special options. It allow the test of a specified Network Cell with scrambling code and frequency number.
If there is anyone, who can customize the app, please leave a message in the thread and i will send the tool via PM or as downloadlink or i will post it as attachement. If the tool works on all devices, the developer can post it in the forum for all other users.
Thanks in advance and kind regards from Vienna,

Can that be done? did you extract the license as well? Remember, the first thing that the apk does before even starting is display the message "license verifiyng". Perhaps it looks for a specific signature telling the program that the phone is huawei branded?
where are they?
Noob question: how to extract the license for this app from the phone? i use genex phu as well and i will be happy to share as long as i do not violate any policiy regarding apps sharing in the forum

Hello all,
I'm very aquanted how to do this in Linux, but I would like to know if there is a way to create a system group in Android? for example:
Root is member of the "Root" system group
The regular user that's logged in on the phone (I'm using an Evo LTE) is as follows:
uid=10213(app_213) gid=10213(app_213) groups=1015(sdcard_rw), 3003(inet)
I would like to know how to create these additional groups?
I'm rooted with Busybox installed.
Thanks in advance!

All user and group id's are hard-coded into Android. Look in system/core/include/private/android_filesystem_config.h of the Android OS source. Still nothing keeps you from starting to use a free group id number for you own purpose, but you can't name it without recompiling the OS.
Hello all,
I just build an app for my Samsung gear 2 with tizen studio.
All steps I performed
1. Make certificate with my samsung account and register my SUDID (My gear)
2. Build app with tizen studio
3. I use sdb command to install this app for other gear ! But not success !
Please help me to resolve it !
My purpose is "Build an app that installed all other devices"
Thanks a lot !
This is not ""easy"" possible... not with Stock Firmware...
Certificate crap only generate device-profile.xml for registred DUID...
Only devices where you registred DUID...
But with modified Firmware... where all Certs allread inside.
Best Regards

Yes, exactly.
Problem is only... Gear S3 devices are harder protected... So custom not possible... yet.
But SM-R732 and SM-R720 possible...
The other Gear S2 family with Modem function also not tested...
Like SM-R730A T V and so on...
So depend on the device...

No way to resolve this issue ?
I just talk about with samsung store helpdesk, they ask to publish app into store. But I don't know how to get app package (.tpk) from store to install all device over sdb command !
Anyone else help me, please !
Thanks a lot !
Lets start with step 1...
Your Gear S2 is which model?
SM-R732 or SM-R720 or?
No idea if you realized... Samsung dream about closed Eco System...
Samsung is King...
Sideload is bad...
Publishing in other ways is not """"designed""" by Samsung...
So SDB install Command is not what Samsung dream about...
Only as info...
Again, which model you have...
So we could talk more concrete...
Best Regards
Gear has option of "Install apps from unknown sources" somewhere! Have you tried enabling it?

From Samsung Gear app on phone > Settings tab > About Gear
There is an option as Unknown sources. No idea if this is same as that of Android devices!
On Gear there is option to get into developer mode. No idea if Unknown sources shown in Gear app is same as this!
Do try.
PS: I haven't ever tried a Gear app!
Unknown Sources is IMHO because Gear offer client solutions...
If App is on Gear AND on Phone...
So it is Phone related...
Btw. we have similar crap on SM-Zxxx ...
You remember why we can not share Themes or self made TPKs or WGTs... because signed with own Cert.
@truonggiang0710
We have more then 1 problem in Tizen world...
In Android world you have chance to downlaod APKs from other sources as Samsung Store and/or Google Store...
Also Sideload is possible and allowed...
No idea if you ever heard about PKI crap... Cert... Sgning... RSA2048...
Security is fine and helpfull to protect... but in Tizen world it is IMHO absurd... in case of Developer signed apps...
They protected against Developer harder as other...
For your "adventure"
SM-R760
We not found way to modify Firmware nor add Certs...
SM-R735T
Not tested... BUT I know from other Modem devices... hard or impossible to find Firmware to modify...
RISK to kill device... as Rollback Prevention...

I am toooo lazy to upload TPK signed from store... or Widgets like Watchfaces...
But here example... taken from Gear S3 LDU Firmware... Live Demo Unit...
It is Platform signed... So RSA2048 Cert from Sams..g:
https://www.file-upload.net/download-12783924/ATyourOWNrISK.zip.html
Code:
sdb install com.samsung.retailmodeplayer.tpk
You can this TPK easily install on all 3 devices:
SM-R760 and SM-R730T and SM-R735T
This is only example... I have at the moment nothing else... which is Platform signed...
Similar behaviour with TPKs and WGTs if you backup them from Gear Plugin...
So they are Store signed... With Samsu.. RSA2048... different to Platform Cert...
Limitation to your own experiments...
You sign with your selfmade Certs... which are not inside Stock Firmware...
Ask your self why you can upload your TPK to RTL Service?

http://developer.samsung.com/gear/develop/getting-certificates/create
Here you can see... the official way... dreamed by Sams..g
You could create device-profile.xml with more then 1 DUID...
Seems 50 maximum...
So you could register 50 devices...
If you only want to test your app on your 3 devices... then easiest and most """legal""" way is...
To register all 3 DUID...

You can create a vivo account with email
also you can move the combobox that prompts you for phone in the next text in order to login with an Email
And then in its market are available the google framework.
Also you can try to add a google account into the phone and maybe it will prompt you to download the google services from the chinese app store
Can someone help me regarding on vivo account that I encounter because I bought vivo iqoo Chinese version and some of application need to sign in first on vivo account. But I cant register on it because they have are code in China and inida only so how can I register even I change the country in my current country. Pls help me regarding on my problem. Regarding for the number 1 problem of Chinese version of vivo iqoo how can you help me. Your right communication is obstacle but we have a Google translator which is we can translate it. Thanks I know you can help me.
Try to tap on left part above Sign In Button on Vivo Account Login screen
I accidentally tap on that part and was enable to change login method to using email
Of course, you need to create vivo account using email before proceeding
may i ask where did u the phone from?
