i want to flash my le max 2 to either android 7 or 8, which third-party ROM (be it android 7 or 8) is the best and free of bugs?
which is pre-rooted? would love one that has been rooted before installing...if not yet rooted, hope it will be easy to root and help on rooting pls.
is the above link the best or any other suggestions and links...? :fingers-crossed:

Here's a link to resurrection remix. It's pretty good. https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/x82x-resurrectionremix-m-v5-7-4-t3542355. Most N roms are stable. You have instructions how to install the rom and what gapps to use in the first post on the rom thread. It's also pre rooted.
For the future, when you want to install root just flash this: http://tiny.cc/latestmagisk

Heyyo, for the most stable Nougat ROM? I'd recommend OmniROM. It's not as bleeding edge in changes such as BlackX or Resurrection Remix but it is built for stability upon OmniROM and Darkobas kernel. Depending as well on the build of Resurrection Remix it could have battery drain issues as you'll see on and off in the thread.
OmniROM also has the advantage of signed builds by Google so they come with official SafetyNet Certification. No need of Magisk and Magisk module workarounds so things like fingerprint unlock with your banking app should work without issue unlike any other ROM I've tried with RBC app... That also means if the Le Max 2 had built in NFC that android pay would have worked without a hitch...
I believe the only other custom ROM with signed builds by Google for official SafetyNet Certification is Paranoid Android but sadly there isn't official builds for the Le Max 2 (yet). Maybe once GalacticSryder receives his Le Max 2 we will see that and built upon is custom kernel as well!
I tried porting it but I suck at it and failed haha oh well at least it turns out I'm good at vehicle repairs
If you want ROMs with as much optimization as possible? BlackX or Slimroms is what I'd recommend. Good device tree and vendor stacks and built with Blackscreen kernel for a good balance between performance and battery life.
Also, Resurrection Remix for Nougat has reached final versions so it won't be receiving updates. As far as I know for Nougat ROMs I think Slimroms and BlackX are the only ones receiving updates still as andr68rus and I believe the same with Shivatejapeddi have both changed focus to Oreo.

whoa, thanks alot for the detailed explanation.....
you really spoke highly of OmniROM (which i like) and you also said this: If you want ROMs with as much optimization as possible? BlackX or Slimroms is what I'd recommend
so which will you advise me to go for out of the three? plus which is pre-rooted or can be easily rooted?
i want to have a feel of a rooted device and see how it goes
would like to go for OmniROM (plus pls help me with links on how to get it) but let me have you final conclusion.
thanks alot for the helpful replies.

You're welcome
It's up to you which path you wish to go. As mentioned OmniROM is definitely the most stable ROM as it tends to not receive major changes as quickly as other ROMs.
The official signed builds are found here:
http://dl.omnirom.org/x2/
Any ROM is super easy to root. Only requires flashing Magisk via TWRP. I'd easily recommend it over any other form of root since it's fully open source software (FOSS) and the modules capabilities is amazing with stuff like Universal SafetyNet fix or other mods like enabling 60fps recording on the Google Camera Mod. I also really enjoy the ART Optimization mod for a little extra performance.
Magisk is found here on XDA and I'd recommend v14.3 right now because v14.0 stable has actually given me more grief heh
You can download and read up on Magisk right here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74158225&postcount=31
BlackX ROM is actually maintained by that other dude who posted here, KuranKaname and definitely has the most optimizations of the buch that I recommended. His builds are based on LineageOS with Blackscreen 3.6 kernel which is really nice. His ROM does require special Gapps which can be found in his thread with the ROM downloads as well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/rom-blackx-unofficial-optimized-t3668458
Slimroms was the third I mentioned which is kind of is a balance between the stability of OmniROM but some of the optimization of BlackX.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/development/rom-blackx-unofficial-optimized-t3668458
Since there isn't any limit on ROMs to flash you can always try out a ROM for a few days and if it doesn't quite suit your needs you can try swapping to a different ROM to see how it feels. In the end only you will know which of the three I mentioned is to your liking the most.

[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 14.1 for the Verizon LG G3 (vs985)

I'm not sure what the holdup is on the
Official Lineage Verizon builds for the G3,
(as of this writing that directory is still empty), but I just switched over to Verizon with their new Unlimited data plan and I decided to build my own this morning. I saw that a few people had been wanting this, so I figured I'd put it up here.
** Note that I compiled this with 'export WITH_SU=true' so there is no need to use the 'addonsu-arm-signed.zip' (root addon) that they provide, as it's built into this rom already.
LineageOS:
Lineage-14.1-Verizon-vs985

sure, it has plenty of bugs, but no more than any other current lineage 14.1 build (I've tested lineage on a samsung galaxy s5, htc one m8, lg g3 (ls990), lg g3 (d851), and an lg g3 (d855)... this build works virtually identical to those.
cm13 is still the best way to go for now if you need stability, i just wish miracast worked better... lineage 14.1 did improve miracast quite a bit, but theres other problems... like conflicts with certain apps (like power toggles, the hotspot won't function properly, you have to enable that via lineage menus, might be an issue with their new su/root implementation) stuff like that.
but... it runs just as well as any of the 'official' builds if that helps answer your question
good work thank you
Upload
Thank you for this, been waiting.
Uploaded with Banks Dynamic Mini Gapps and 35B modem. Everything is clean and seems to be working great. Will you continue to keep it updated with the latest from lineage as they continue to update the rom.
Great rom, but when I enable encryption and reboot the phone hangs on the LG logo and bootloops.
Edit: Encryption is broken in Lineage 14.1 currently
the bot builds on fridays
Been using 307 Rom for two days and am impressed. Great battery life, smooth, and good calling on 35b.
Thanks for your work.
looks like it's finally been added to the official builds,
i'll continue to do builds of lineage 13.0 for this phone, as thats what i'm using,
but no sense in continuing this thread....

Has anyone used the official build for the G3?
My fiance has one, and I may steal her phone and flash it. Battery life would be nice, as well as getting rid of the VZ bloat. Any bugs? App compatibility? Thanks!
yes im using nice rom
I have used Bailx 304 and 307 roms, and loaded the official Lineage 310 rom today. Lineage had done a great job with 14.1 with excellent battery life, smoothness, and speed. I have tried all the 7.1 roms for the G-3, and all are exceptional in how far they have come with reliability. I basically use my phone for that purpose, a few texts, and a few photos, so I'm not much into a lot of mods. The only one I really use is Nova Launcher to set up the way I like. The Gapps I used were the Banks Dynamic Mini and by the time I had finished setting my phone up I had used 5.9 gig of 32.
any chance these builds can have volte on vs985? Is that feasible at all? Please let me know.
and how is the camera quality of this rom as compared to stock and other aosp/cm based rom?

Onyx ROM : AOKP vs LineageOS

Hi,
As OnePlus is not updating anymore Onyx since last november I'm considering installing a custom rom.
For now my choices are on AOKP and Lineage OS.
I want something light but secure.
I don't need billions of features.
Does anyone has experienced both roms on Onyx and could give some feedbacks ?
Thanks a lot !
Regards,
Lineage is simply no go.
I think GZR are most stable ones.
There is a minimal feature build of jdc available on afh you can try that, imo it is the best nougat based rom for onyx at the moment(may change once pa hits the market).
Try Tesla from the thread here if you are looking fir stable 7.1.2 ROM

I will have a look at GZR.
I never heard about it before.
What's wrong about LineageOS ?
Big Update The King SultanXda Might support onyx.
So whenever his N based rom is out it will be the most stable and complete rom for onyx(he is the best dev out there).
I use XenonHD: fast and stable, ok for daily use, no bugs, tristate ok, updated near monthly. About 4h of SOT.
I red that there's network issues with most of N roms for Onyx.
Is it true and anyone has experienced it with GZR?
Sultan is great but...

I'd rather get Tutorials from Sultan than wait for him to develop OPX ROM - I appreciate he is just trying to survive like everyone else.
He's great but I have to be able to understand & do for myself. I can't afford ISP but would pay SultanXda to put out Tutorial Videos using OnePlus X as an example device, so I could learn from him.
Can't wait for anyone, its too dependent better to learn for myself & teach others so they can be independent too.
I went back to OOS 3.1.4 there are too many apps I don't use on it but I like OOS Style just wish I could remove unwanted google apps get security updates on it at least

MOST SATISFYING ROM and KERNEL FOR US

Hi guys! I am making this thread so that we could have a place to tell the community which is the most satisfying ROM and kernel in our opinion and experience that you have used or most probably are using right now. Guys it would be really helpful if you share what qualities make that ROM or kernel most satisfying in your opinion like bb or performance or something unique about that ROM or kernel. Guys I welcome you to share any special settings (ROM or ka) you have done to achieve that satisfaction. So guys do share and help the community and show gratitude to respective developers as well .....
Thank You!
My choice is crdroid nougat official with stock kernel. Super stable and nice bb for my usage. I'm using it right now. No special settings. Just extreme battery saver all the time.
I think that the combination ofofficial RRos nougat and beacon kernel is very stable. I'm using it right now
I haven't used many ROMs but the most satisfying ROM for me is Viper Coral [nouget ]. Its butter smooth and best batter backup. It also doesn't have slow charging problem unlike other Oreo ROMs . It take only 2-2.5 hours to complete charge the device. Since I am not a Jio user I don't know about volte.
for me it's the viper os coral 3.1.1 final by impulsar it even shows certified in device status in play store , it's the most stable rom for me gr8 bb no volte issue nothing it's the best with stock kernel & also with beacon
Both vipers are great I.e. impulsar's and dinesh's both are certified in play store
Unofficial CrDroid by difr
Extreme performance!
Yup.. True.. Extreme performance.. Butter smooth, excellent multitasking possibilities. Good battery backup (but not the best), but wen compared to performance, this is more than sufficient.. Excellent work by developer.. Kudos..
liquid remix, stock kernel.
I am very pleased with AEX 4.6 and the Spicey Kernel. Great battery backup, responsiveness and performance, GCamMod and everything else is working. The only downside is that it is not actively maintained anymore, so no new security updates. As I had several problems with Oreo ROMs and their GAPPS, I hope that the developers will iron out these issues to make the switch sometime in the future (the unofficial crDroid build was promising, but GAPPS didn't work there for me).

Yes, I had issues with the 8.1 April 1st release (pico and nano) from opengapps.org. I first flashed the ROM, rebooted and then flashed GAPPS and I got "play services stopped" as soon as I try to setup my device. And as I did mention in the other posts, I've tried other ROMs and TWRPs as well with the same reproducible result and ran out of options there. Hence I got back to AEX 4.6 and even flashing it together with GAPPS went without problems wheras I get bootloops if I flash them together with Oreo ROMs.

I did try even older ones from December, but that did not work as well. Look overe here in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/help/flash-oreo-roms-t3743439/page4
Some people found a solution which worked for them, but I haven't tried them myself yet.
Bootleggers and unofficial crdroid by difr
I have used many custom roms with stock and beacon combo (excluding treble as beacon for treble is not out yet)
I vote for Bootleggers ROM.
It's a complete package with 99.9% pure android bug-less experience. All features work flawlessly. Best thing about this rom is Battery Backup. it's amazing, a LOT more compared to any other rom be it Nitrogen RR Firehound Cr AEX LiquidRemix Viper PixelExperience MIUI etc. I have tried them all but finally Bootleggers compelled me to stick with it for Battery Backup and almost NO bugs.
My latest choice - AEX oreo build by Woivod

This it not a GSI. It is built on actual device trees
What's working/not working?
First up:
-Sometimes after setting the brightness to maximum, it doesn't want to lower its value and gets stuck. is fixed only by a reboot.
-HWC is disabled
-The signalbar always shows 0, altho calling and data have no issue and should work as intended.
Obviously Samsung's own features such as Samsung Pay, KNOX, Theme Center, Game Launcher, etc. won't be ported to LineageOS Pixel Experience. We may have our own implementation to similar functions, though.
Iris sensor does not work because AOSP upstream does not support that yet.
IMS services (VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc). Samsung has their own proprietary implementation. It is not really possible to easily port that to LineageOS PixelExperience.

Troubleshooting/FAQ:
Q: Videos aren't playing on youtube
A: Make sure you don't have any kind of adblock installed
Q: I'm on a dualsim variant and (a) sim isn't detected.
A: Try reinserting your sim and rebooting. This wierdly nuff only happens on some* dualsim variants and no one has sent me a logcat yet.
Q: My mobile data (3G/4G) is not working/only 3g shows
A: Go into mobile network settings and select/create an apn, also select 4G as the preferred network type.
Q: How does this compare to GSIS?
A: Much better all around. Faster, smoother etc. I don't think there's any reasons to use pie gsis anymore.
Q: How good is the camera?
A: Actually,(by my standards), pretty good. Almost comparable to stock. Ofc the aosp cam doesn't have the fancy filtering, features and stuff but by far not bad. Alot better than 8.1 roms anyway.
Q: Safetynet doesn't pass?
A: Yeah, i guess that's a thing. Go into magisk and download some module called props hide or something. Don't forget to run it from terminal. It should work from there
Q: The rom isn't booting/camera doesn't work
A: Flash/make sure you have the CSA2 vendor and fw, and try again. This has been tested. It's prolly something on ur end.
Q: The rom is in a bootloop/google apps keep crashing
A: You did read the instructions and NOT flash any gapps riighhttt?? smh, wipe /system,/data and /cache and start over
Q: I have another bug; How can i tell it to you while slightly increasing my changes of it ever getting fixed.
A: You can tell me what's going on either here or on telegram WITH A LOGCAT attached(required);if rom isn't booting at all attach /proc/last_kmsg.
Q: I don't know what/how to logcat. Is it really necessary?

Note 9 users should be very glad that although there are basically no aosp devs left for their device they still got a build. Maybe if you guys give Alex some beers he might get motivated for you crownlte guys
thank u
Everything works so far. Will report if I find any issues. Nice work brotha
Always wanted to try a Pixel Experience ROM but I keep getting turned off by the Camera
Hot damn! We got a live one! Thank you for giving us some AOSP goodness, was beginning to wonder if it would ever come.
Do you think we'll see more AOSP ROMs start to pop up for the Note 9?

Eh, it's not bad at all, but that's subjective and something you have to try yourself

Does it keep up with the stock camera or gcam port even?
This is the moment I wonder what's more important - warranty or geek happiness...
awesome
glad this isn't GSI though i had no problem with GSI roms
Rom working great beside the known bugs. Sadly hwc isnt working, on the s9 forum they also cant get it working sadly. Google camera works great for the people thinking of switching. Battery life is just very bad because of no hwc. Gsi roms are very stable with endurance kernel.
Good to see your work over here , I been tested so far very good on stable initial release
Great rom! Must have!
Thanks to the xda writers for this making it to the news section.
Dear Ranibow_Dash
May I ask you about the boot animation?
Is this rom using zips for boot animation?
If so is there a way to get it to work on a stock rom as well?
Sent from my SM-N960N using XDA Labs

Question Good phone for custom ROMs?

Hey guys I am seriously considering buying the Note 10 (mojito) and I would like to know your opinions on custom ROMs for it. The Note 10 ticks all the boxes for me, but I worry that phones like the Note 10 PRO and PRO MAX will take most of the attention of Devs and therefore custom ROM development in mojito will not receive much attention. Do you think this is a valid worry?
I want my next phone to run deGoogled ROMs (like LOS), is mojito going to be a good choice for this?
Right now in my country its price is very good, while the PRO/MAX variants haven't arrived yet. It will be some time before they do, and even more before their price drops. So mojito is a very strong contender for me.
To clarify, I am not complaining there isn't a deGoogled custom ROM yet, only asking if you guys think it will get them.
I already use a custom ROM without Google, dotOS 5.0.1.
Installation of the Vanilla Version (without Google Services/Apps) via PE/AOSP or Lineage Recovery and ADB sideload.
Here are the instructions:
Install PixelExperience on mojito - PixelExperience Wiki
Install PixelExperience on mojito - PixelExperience Wiki
wiki.pixelexperience.org
Just take dotOS ROM from here (instead of Pixel Experience ROM).
Afterwards the APKs for microG:
Download - microG Project
Activate all checkboxes in microG settings, reboot and disable battery optimization for all components.
F-Droid and Aurora Store working, from there you can get the MozillaNLPbackend and NomatimNLPbackend and Deja Vu for location services without using Google.
There is no need to worry. It's will claim a lot of development. the most reason was to not see a lot and lazy at the beginning is on our Device (mojito/sunny) we don't have Recovery partition! which let our development slow but we have a good stuff of developers that's works hard and got us on the road as you see the roms are coming till now we got 6 roms and 3 recoveries and Orangefox soon.

Amazing man, this is awesome. I was not aware that there was a deGoogled ROM for it already, nor that dotOS existed and was so slick. I will definitely take a look at this.
Does it pass SafetyNet?
Would you happen to know who the developer/maintainer for that unofficial ROM is? I looked around and couldn't find a page for it here on XDA.
Nevermind, saw here that there isn't an XDA page for some ROM for the the time being. Since I have never flashed a custom ROM on any phone, I will wait for one to see what are people's experiences with it.

Sweet, this is comforting. I am really looking forward to deGoogling my phone, but am a little hesitant since I have zero experience flashing ROMs hahaha. Was going to go for a phone with Official LOS support but models available to me are the same price as the Note 10, but nowhere near as good.

On unrooted dotOS with just microG: no.
However, 2 out of 3 banking apps work.
After testing dotOS (vanilla) with microG for a couple of days and with a lot of apps, I'd say it's not usable as a daily driver yet.
There are problems with most apps that use maps, like Uber or Wolt or DHL parcel service.
They generate error messages that google services are not properly installed and quit or malfunction.
However, microG and the corresponding locations services install perfectly and don't show any errors.
I didn't have such problems with other ROMs on other phones (but always using microG), e.g. crDroid or ArrowOS or LineageOS.
Thanks for the feedback. Is that the only issue with the ROM?
I am really sold on DotOS, it is very close to stock and has very beautiful customizations. My problem with the one that is available so far is that it doesnt look very transparent (at least to me). No source code available, no page here. And I dont know how serious the Dev is about maintaining it, nor how credible he is as well.
Not really trying to test every ROM, just find one that is stable, deGoogled and maintained.
I think you're a couple of months too early with your questions, the phone is pretty new and the ROMS and recoveries in a very early state.
hahaha yes, I am afraid so.
My phone's battery is starting to act up, so I will have to make a purchase soon. May take a leap of faith on this phone and see how much attention it gets from the dev community
Thanks for your feedback!
