There are many ways, and all can be found in this forum.
You can upgrade with OTAs, or go with the full firmware as well.
Still looking nothing found for my 1650-05 Moto z dual SIM

Hello all. I recently dusted off my ASUS PadFone X (T00D) which is SIM unlocked, but otherwise fully stock. It currently has the ATT_11.10.8.16 build of KitKat on it. According to AT&T's support website, there are two newer builds of the stock ROM that should be available, ATT_11.10.11.1 and ATT_11.10.11.2, but no matter how many times I try neither build seems to get pulled down OTA. I am familiar with the way AT&T usually does things and have an active AT&T SIM card installed, and have tried advancing the date one day at a time to no avail. I suspect that AT&T might have removed the software updates from their servers.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind either sideloading the OTAs, if a mirror is available (and I'm assuming there is a way to sideload similar to newer version of Android).
OR, I am open to converting it to a PadFone S and loading Marshmallow, as I believe an official Marshmallow build was released.
I'm familiar with TWRP and such from my other devices, but my PadFone is fully stock so I just need some pointers on where to start and anything I need to watch out for.
O have Padfone x with firmware oficial Padfone S

Nothing official for Y5 higher than LP, but search xda for 'huawei y5 ii', and you see several posts about root and recovery. Someone could build LOS or something...
Hi there,
Probably a silly question, I have a SGP312 and it is on Lollipop since 3 years, do you think is there a way to upgrade to the latest Android 8.1?
If not 8.1, what would be the highest version I can go and how?
The Tablet is essentially a stock one, I never did anything on it, just applied the Sony updates they made available for this old model.
Thank you,
Alex

Hello!
It's quite possible to install even the latest 8.1, though it is still not that stable now.
If you want 99% bug-free experience, i would stick to android 7.1.2, like Resurrection Remix ROM till 8.1 gets to a polished state.
Check this guide for installing custom ROMs on device.
Thank you for the link!
I will give it a try very soon.

Hi buddies,
I have a Sony Xperia Tablet Z (Model: SGP321) with Lollipop v5.0.2.
I had rooted it since a couple of years, so no need to say, it couldn't be upgraded to any higher version of android.
Now I unrooted it and wanna upgrade its android.
My questions:
1. What's the highest Android version officially released for this model?
2. What's the best version you advise me to install on it?
Thanks for your kind & prompt reply.
Cheers,
Leon

Hello!
1. The latest official firmware is android 5.1.1 (v.10.7.A.0.222 or 10.7.A.0.228 depending on region, though internally they are identical).
You can update via xperia-companion software.
2. What's the best only you can say. If stock sony one works good for you, stick to it.
If you have knowledge how to install, and want to try something "custom", there are firmwares based on android 7.1.2 and 8.1 on this forum.
The media players on my Xperia sgp312 keep pausing, has it got something to do with the software, I am still on Android 5.1.1
Hello,
I have a LG K8 with android 6.0.1 (Verizon prepaid) and a RCA Voyager III with android 7.1.2 that I want to update to newer android versions since there are no more factory updates. If the tablet screws up I don't really care, but I need to be able to use my activated phone. Is there a way to manually update the android version without messing them up?
Thanks

Hello,
You can Follow the LG K8 Developments Page on this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k8/development
Although there are no Custom ROMs listed on the development page, you can search the Internet for the same. The page had MIUI ROM for the devices, but the link was removed due to Thread Owner posting PPC links. :crying:
I just purchased from eBay a Sony Xperia XZ1 (G8343). It appears to be a stock international model. I'm trying to update its stock ROM from 8.0.0 (47.1.A.2.313) to the latest Pie build available.
The phone itself reports there are no system updates available. Xperia Companion also reports I am running the latest available software.
Is there any way I can force an update to Pie without rooting the device?

Yes, you need to do some searching though.
There is a program called xperifirm, that you can download the latest firmware (software), and another tool called newflasher, that you use to install it. Good luck, happy searching.
Hi,
My small contribution... Google "xpericheck" and you will access the full list of available updates based on your precise model.
I finally got around to this. After reading a few additional pages here and there, I eventually was able to download and install the latest Bell Mobility (CA) Pie firmware and am now setting up the phone to my preferences.
Thanks for the help!
Strange thing - the Bell Mobility firmware keeps re-enabling Google Chrome and Duo, even after I manually disable them. If this behavior continues, I guess I'll try the Freedom CA firmware to see if it's improved in this regard.
