Hello All,
I broke screen on my vodafone smart prime 6 (vf-895n). Touch layer is broken and LCD too, there is big black blot covering 20% of display. New LCD is expensive and I planed to buy new smartphone soon, I wan't to use my old phone as LTE modem only in future. (like Huawei CarFi)
Current status:
- USB debugging disabled :crying:
- not rooted, stock recovery :crying:
- touch layer broken in middle, only upper half is working, I can enable/disable WiFi or BT, but I am not able to enter PIN, open menu, start apps, change settings, etc.
- linked to google account, I can install apps from google play
- I don't much care about data in phone, everything important is on sd card or synced on my google account.
Is there any way how to gain remote access to phone? like install some app from play store which starts automatically after phone boot up? or something with recovery mode?
Or only way is replace at least digitizer which is not so expensive?
Thanks in advance

Try running adb commands while your phone is in stock recovery, it's rarely working but it's a try.
Last solution could be calling Vodafone for help about that or go in a Vodafone shop
Hope it will help

Thank you very much for help,
I tried to run stock recovery and select apply update from adb, then I can see phone in result of "adb devices" but opening shell, or reboot commands via adb is not allowed, it seems that in recovery mode only flashing new ROM is allowed.
From vodafone I didn't expect any reasonable help, and it was true, they only offer me repair phone for non-sense price (90$), even whole used phones in good condition are cheaper.
So I bought new digitezer from ebay for 10$ and I am waiting for it.
Ok, good luck!

Maybe I'm underestimating your experience, but you can try this to see whether USB storage works:
Go to Settings -> Storage -> the 3-lined menu button at the top right corner -> USB PC connection -> Media device (MTP)
I wish this can help. if you have further questions we are here to help at any time.
Good luck!

Ofcourse i tried it hihi:highfive:
But i am starting to think its faulty hardware as no one has any idea about the issue
I actually bought mine in the exact same condition. It would not work on usb no matter what i did also a few other 'bugs' I thought it was a faulty cable but it turned out to be corrupted files on the rom.
Long story short, reatoring the tab to factory via ODIN fixed everything.

Well, you could use mobile ODIN or Rom Manager. However, you need to be able to pull the backup you're going to make before you install that custom rom off of the device. Using USB is a simple way of doing that. It's possible to get it off over WiFi, but you really should fix the USB.

Try this method!
If you think it is a software problem, try this:
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Duos/GT-S7562
Code:
Recovery Mode
Recovery mode can be entered by switching the device off and pressing the following buttons; VOL UP + VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER
When the phone vibrates let go of the buttons.
Note: It can take several attempts to enter recovery mode, so do not give up immediately!
After entering recovery mode, wipe the phone but beware, it will delete all the data in the internal memory. So take a backup of all your data, contacts, messages, before you do this.
After you perform wipe, reboot the phone. It will take longer than usual but after that you will be on the screen.
You can use your phone as a new phone and try charging again.
Press thanks if I have helped!

I Already Tried But With No Result
If the device is not charging properly and you know for certain that it is not an issue with the cable/charging block/etc, then most likely it is an issue with the USB port itself. Unfortunately, for that phone, the part is soldered to the motherboard and not a repair for a casual DIY tech. That said, your easiest work around will be to buy an extra battery and an external battery charger. Then you just pop in the new battery and leave the other to charge on the wall. I actually miss being able to do this (I have a Nexus) as it does not require you to be plugged into the wall, just the battery in the charger. If you need to transfer files without the port, there are numerous solutions via wifi and BT.

Yes , Its Charging And Working With USB Cable Very Well
Ok, well then if it all works fine and is just cosmetic, your choices are to factory reset and see if it is an easy fix or to reload the OS with Odin (and reset).

That's what I figured... So, pretty sure either the port is bad, or it's a hardware (motherboard) issue. If it were only that warning on the PC, then one might think driver issue, but that combined with the charging issue, makes me think otherwise - assuming the cord works and syncs properly with other phones. You said you had already restocked the OS with Odin, but that does not seem likely due to the error on the PC. Just a hard reset does not affect /system much, so if there IS an issue with the software, a factory (hard) reset wouldn't do much. If you remove all Samsung drivers and Kies programs, reboot, and reinstall Kies (for the drivers) and you still get that message, then it's most likely hardware related.

It's not unheard of that roms can cause connection issues, but very rare on stock based roms and kernels. If the computer doesn't recognize the phone then it might be tricky to root. It's possible that you could root with an app like Framaroot and then install Mobile Odin and flash the firmware from the phone, but it depends on what build version of the software you have to which root methods are supported.

Hello All
I have a VS985 G3. I dropped it flat on the face and shattered the glass. I have a replacement ordered will be here tomorrow. I have a backup on my device and can access twrp using power and volume keys.
The problems begin here. I can not interact with the phone via the touchscreen to do another backup to my external sd. I can not for the life of me get my device recognized by adb. I can not transfer the current backup to my computer either because with the phone locked, I guess it wont read the storage on the phone, Cant unlock because welll I cant interact with screen. I have sdk installed and done so correctly because that is how I rooted this device to begin with. I know ADB was enabled in settings also. Yes path is correct to (C:\Android\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices #
Usage: adb devices [-l]
C:\Android\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices [-l]
Usage: adb devices [-l] ) is all I can get.
I downloaded LG USB drivers from LG site and still no dice on being recognized by ADB through command prompt.
My original thought was to disable the knock code through ADB ( dont even know if it possible)???
Second I thought I might be able to get my backup done through twrp but cant interact with screen to change storage location to external SD in TWRP. Im lost and dont know what to do from here.
Without adb working you're kinda Sol

Do you have any smart unlocks like trusted places enabled? or maybe you could sneak past lock screen if you have google now set to run from lock screen?
Doesn't knock code require you setup a backup pin? can you use the mouse to fail at knock code and enter pin?
hello there
so, i have a sony xperia z2 with a broken screen and digitizer. only the backlight is working and it seems to be a broken fuse (see this thread), so no way changing the screen could help. now i'm trying to save the data but every way seems to be an impasse eventually...
first thing i tried was to connect the phone to my screen with an otg adapter but i didn't get any visible result. i found an article saying that one needs to activate screen mirroring first but that was for the z2 tablet. does that apply for the phone, too or should it work and the adapter is just broken?
2nd thing i tried was to flash custom recovery hoping i could later pull the data with adb. i followed the instructions to unlock the bootloader here but appearently usb debugging needs to be activated for that, too? at least fastboot doesn't recognize any device so far.
i also tried mirroring the screen on my computer with seven-square but that too needs usb debugging.
is there any way to get the data off the phone? anything that could be worth trying?
i'm currently working on a linux mint pc but if anyone has suggestions that only work with windows that would be helpful, too since i also got windows 7.
thanks for all effort!
p.s: i'm new to this board but i promise i will regularly follow this thread and won't leave without letting you know if the problem got resolved...
Hello Everyone
I am putting my problem in this general section with the hope to ask for help to more people compared to the Mate 8 section where not a lot of people go these days.
Since a while I am not able to connect my phone to a laptop. If I connect it to a laptop it just starts charging but nothing else. I have tried everything like:
Changing Cables (tried more than 5. I dont have the original anymore)
Changing Laptops
Changing the USB port of the phone itself
Updating Drivers
Installing Hisuite (current version 5.0.3.300)
Restore phone to factory settings
Complete formatting
Updating to the latest version (Current version Nxt-L29C185B582)
Changing the USB debugging/ Connection (MTP/PTP/etc)
And what not
The problem is, it doesnt get detected on the computer and cant connect to adb as well. All I want is to unlock bootloader and Install TWRP and Magisk. I have the unlock bootloader code but no way to unlock it since I cant connect.
Can anyone help me in fixing this stupid problem ? It is getting frustrating. If there is a hardware issue, what part needs to be replaced? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the Settings of your phone---> About phone----> Build number tap this 7 to 8 times-----> Developers option is enabled----> back to settings ----> go to developers option ----> enable USB debugging.
When you connect to the phone to the laptop you will find an icon on top of the screen of your phone with a USB mark "like a trident", pull down the top menu and find the USB connection tab, (like changing the sim card if you intend to call through a specific card) e.g quoted, double tap the USB tab to obtain options ---> 3 options 1) MTP 2)PTP 3) USB charging only----> select the first option MTP (Media transfer protocol).
Now connect to the laptop you will find exclamation marks in the device manager of your laptop. Load the appropriate drivers on your computer and viola! this will establish connection with the device you are having. if you find difficulty in installing USB drivers, search the thread "Attempt to load USB drivers for Micromax E484 on win XP is a fiasco" in this forum. When i connect with the laptop, my laptop doesnt even make that sound for the connection.
What is the model and OS version of the device and the model and OS version of the computer? According to your symptoms your phone appears to be in option 3) USB charging only. The phone will not be detected by your laptop or the like(Computer) in this mode. Merely remains in a charging state. Are you certain the option 1) is picked MTP? If the phone is not detected there appears to be some hardware failure, try another USB port to connect to the laptop. if all else fail a service technician will pinpoint the fault. It may perhaps be a data transmission failure of the devices port to the interior of the phone. This is merely an assumption.
best remedy would be a service technician.
Hope this helps

I quite doubt the cable will be the culprit as your device charges the battery while in an established connection with the laptop. As you state the phone USB port was replaced, it could be a some glitch before the USB port in the device where there is an interruption in the data transmission signal that cannot be detected by your laptop.
Could you boot your device, computer and connect the two and take a snapshot of your device (whilst connected to the laptop) and paste the same in the forum?
Perhaps visual cue could be better at dealing such mishaps.

Your USB trident icon is not indicated on the device, If you were to receive power from the laptop the trident would be displayed on top of the screen, even for charging the battery. The power source for your device appears to from other than the laptop.
I have pasted my device after connecting to the computer and the second icon from the top left is the USB Trident icon indicating connection with my laptop. Have taken the snapshot of the menu that I was describing .
I strongly feel you have a hardware failure rather than a simple fix and would require the help of a technician (ordinary if professional is unavailable). Am skeptic you could mend that on your own unless you are proficient in electronics. This mishap is not due to flashing wrongly too, unless you have changed the stock ROM with some custom ROM which has some bug that affect the USB alone.
Take the assistance of a technician whether professional or less is my counsel

If you do not have spares is best left alone rather than tampering with it and rendering the device useless if any untoward incidents tends to occur.

Send to the vendor directly if you have warranty for the device stating its complaints or request your relative or friends who live in the area where you bought your phone to hand it to the vendor or service technician and bear its expenses

Is there a way to unlock bootloader somehow without connecting to usb ? That would also solve the purpose.. Does Kingroot work for you?
I mean did u try it or u just want magisk?
If u didn't, kingroot may be able to root ur device and unlock ur bootloader, then u can flash TWRP using rasher.. & make a backup BTW...
After that, try using the adb sideload in TWRP to test ur connection with ur computer.
TWRP for ur device : (q.gs/DxuAH)
There is a way to unlock bootloader without USB via developers option.
Go to settings-----> About phone-----> Build number ( Tap this option around 7 or 8 times) till developers option is enabled------> go back to settings-----> developers option-----> OEM unlock option (Enable this option) to unlock the bootloader.

Thank you for the advice.. I hadn't tried it earlier but after your suggestion I did.. kingroot says I need to unlock my bootloader to root it.. so I am back to square one..

This gives me an frp unlock and not a phone unlock.. still not able to root
There is no FRP unlock.

There is no FRP unlock, to circumvent FRP you need to factory reset or flash your firmware. The above quotation was to unlock the boot loader as you cannot access through your computer. Your sole option to unlock boot loader was through the above directions.
Moreover, King root application never ask for boot loader to be unlocked. Although a little unstable this is the initial program to root any device. Once you have the TWRP setup then you could switch to Super Su etc. according to your preference.
Could you paste your developers option snapshot here...

My phone was Micromax and I am not aware of your phone's firmware, try and google or search the Xda developers forum under your phones model number for the original firmware.

Your phone has not installed TWRP duly, therefore it boots straight to the system. Search again in this XDA forum, with your pnone name and model number to obtain instructions
