1. 10-bit HDR Image Sensor – captures up to 211% more colors for improved accuracy. - ( I read tha article that LG have just 8 bit. And if they have 10 bit how they have bad photos, dynamic range.)
2. OIS+2.0 and EIS. (No one on YouTube says they have EIS, and if they have the EIS is not turn on??? Did we need tivwait update?)
3. Slow-Motion Video Recording – 1280 x 720 resolution, 240 FPS ( They are several YouTubers and web site that they say that LGV30 have just 120fps)
4. Steady Record 2.0 – record smoother, clearer videos on the move. (No one confirm this of users)
I don't have device, but I didn't find all of this things in any review of LG V30. Did LG lie? Or this is still beta software and we need to wait all of this?

If you look at LG official web site, the 10 bit HDR photos have fantastic and much more color then former 8 bits HDR photos. But when you took photo with V30 a landscape mode where is buildings you will see the building but the behind of building will be all white, they are no a blue sky. Just look the photos dynamic range is very bad. Bur they promise very good HDR with 10 bits. And other things what i wrote i didn't see in V30.

That's because those stock photos are probably taken on a medium format and NOT a V30. Or a ton of expensive equipment with the V30.

Steady Record 2.0 is the same as EIS, when you turn Steady Record on in settings you turn on EIS. And guys on Youtube typically just post videos but they don't tell much if it was shot with Steady Record enabled or with Steady Record disabled. Hence we don't see if enabling EIS have much effect on stabilization. Even in this video it is unknown whether it was shoot with EIS on

1) Dynamic Range and "color range" (not what it is really called but we'll go with it as it's an easier term to relate to) capture are two different things. Dynamic range in simplest terms is how much detail can you capture between complete black and complete white. You will see people get really pissy if they can't get every detail in a bright sunlit cloud AND the back of a cave in the same shot.
The 211% increase in color capture is actually found in the spaces between colors. So instead of just capturing red, yellow, and blue, the increase color capture would be red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Or if you wanted to get even more specific, instead of capturing just green, you get forest green, kelly green, British racing green, acid green, moss green, lichen, chartreuse, etc.
2) OIS seems to be always on and I really wish we had a switch to turn it off and on like on my lenses but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. EIS, as stated before, is Steady Record which does seem to have a switch in 1080 resolution. I haven't had a chance to play with it as much as I'd like but after watching a video earlier this week I might play with these two more. I was trying to figure out why my 1080 video didn't look stabilized compared to my 4k video. After watching some video somewhere, it turns out the OIS and EIS might be fighting each other. That's in video.
Also, in extremely loud environments I've noticed that either OIS or I am being moved a lot by stuff like a heavy beat coming out of speaker right next to me. Like I said, I need to play with the video more. I've shooting stills for a few decades and have a handle on that. I only tackle video once in a great while and really need to sit down and invest more time into learning it.
3) Slow motion. If you go into the manual video mode and pick out your video resolution to 720 and pick your frame rate, the highest you will get is 120fps. If you go into camera modes and pick the slo-mo option, that's where the 240fps resides. You can test this out by recording a video in manual set to 720p/120fps then another in just the slo-mo mode.
4) See #2, I'm still trying to wrap my head around what all is going on here.

I did a few sample videos with the different quality settings and WOAH!!! Especially the videos at 60fps with adequate light from a lamp. When a lot of light it's even smoother when I figured it could not be smoother. Nothing like it. Heck, video of hands looks better than real life and you could see every piece of detail in the skin easily. But I am a photographer so am good with taking photos and have very still hands, so others experience might be a bit different from mine.
Looked great in a well-lit environment as stated above. Had a lot of noise in a darker environment, but not so much as to render it unusable. Someone that does a better job of holding the camera steady and framing the video might have a better result though.
Anyone tried the audio/video quality in loud environments such as discos, festivals , concerts ...?

Is it just me or is the video quality really bad? Full HD videos are not sharp/crisp at all and there's a slight painted/blurry look to frames, even in moderately good sunny conditions.
This is more apparent with the wide angle lens but the normal lens has this too. I tried shooting with the GCam app and the normal lens video is worse than the stock app. Video Stabilisation is on. 4k videos are pretty sharp but Full HD is my preferred choice.
Anyone know any settings that could be changed to fix this?
Ok guys, this is my try. First and last part of video is recorded with LG G6, 1080p 60fps on DJI Osmo Mobile. It's not bad at all. Sharpness and crispness is better on 1080p 30fps but I needed slowmo. In manual mode you have much more control but it's OK even in auto mode. What do You think?

Fun Tip - Add motion blur to the parts where you increased the footage speed to sync up with the music. Will literally make it look 2x better.

Reading posts i must ask, am i the only one who thinks that the quality of video taken with lg g6 camera is terrible and unacceptable, 1080p looks like upscale from 480p and is very overprocessed? i wrote about it to lg and they replied that everything is fine, can't believe it! 1080p video from my old lg g3 was great, g6 sucks more then anything that has ever suck before. is there any way to change it and turn current '1080p' on g6 into real 1080p?

For me, video seems way more pixelated than it should be when zooming, even in 4K. 4x zoom should be 1080p and it doesn't look like it is, and I can't see an option to use the zoom lens either. And 4K isn't selected by default.
Considering the lack of EIS and OIS it's not good, but not really bad. Avoid shooting videos in low light - they will be awful and they will have a lot of frames dropped.
Without any kind of EIS or OIS, MiA1 is not ideal for video recording.

I tried using the GCam HDR+ with its EIS and to be honest.. I have to really hold the phone as steady as possible and also in walking slowly, the end result is a bit much better than using the camera app by xiaomi..
the quality overall improved a lot, but for usable footage I guess a dedicated gimbal is needed
Pixelation is algo a problem for me. I think that the video is a little bit dark too.
Even using the Google Camera, it's something better but it's not good for me. At least the EIS helps to stabilize the video but the quality is far from good.

Man, I think the same thing. It's very weird to see the video so pixelated even using Google Camera. Sometimes it really looks like a low resolution video upscaled to a more resolution.

Go to setting>audio and check the disable Automatic Gain Control. Now record will have stereo audio.

I recently got a new Mate 10 Pro. I tested the camera and I think that the photos looks ok, but the video quality is not as good. The videos in 4K look ok, but in 1080p/30fps and 1080p/60fps the videos looks bad, noisy.
I updated the phone to Android 9 and EMUI 9 before I shoot the photos and the videos, so I don't know the quality before the update.
Another problem is that I cannot find the video stabilization ON/OFF setting. At one moment I found it, but I don't know if it was before or after the Android 9 update.
I also saw that sometimes the autofocus is not properly working when shooting videos.
My software version is 9.0.0.161.
1. Are there any problems regarding the update or my phone is broken ?
2. Does anyone also have those problems ?
Hi, I don't think you have a hardware problem. I have this phone since 16th november of 2018, with Oreo 8.0.0.157 C432-L29, i didn't have those problems. In Android Pie i think the app doesn't have the same performance like Oreo's. The AI of this app is INCAPABLE of making things right now, for me. Shooting photos is better, but videos in 1080p looks a bit weird , especially in low light condition. Maybe this is the problem. Let's hope in the next updates, they will fix it and make it better.

1st: video has been very bad on Huawei phones for a long time. It has not gotten better, even the mate 20 pro is far behind apple and Samsung.
2nd: stabilization only works for up to 1080p30. 1080p60 and 4K do not support stabilization thus you won’t find the setting when shooting it.
3rd: the phone has improved it’s photo quality and camera app in general over the past year I have had the phone since Jan 2018. It got updates every 2 months with new features almost every time. They added handheld night mode, face unlock, 960fps slomow, improved aperture depth detection, improved AI (looks a lot less oversaturated now) it also got gpu turbo and much much more. In the span of a year i Must say huawei impressed me.
4th: it took me some time to get to know the camera. Now my shots are much better (I use raw from pro mode) so it’s mostly about the photographer.

I can't find the video stabilization settings in 1080p30. This setting (stabilization on/off) does not appear in the camera menu.

It is software since it is electronic stabilization it is software only. I have just checked and I don’t have the option in my phone either but I think it’s on automatically since there is a big crop. This is because they use the outer edges of the image sensor to make up for the movement. You can google how EIS in videos work. You can see much more when using 1080p60 so there is no EIS but when you switch to 1080p30 there is a huge crop.
Edit: I have just tested it. Eis works on 1080p30. I was walking and shaking a lot and with 1080p60 there is a lot of shaking with 30 only very little.
Hardware stabilization is optical stabilization but it does not do much (it is always on btw it is a way how the lense is built) except for removing shaking when taking photos it is especially useful in dark conditions where the shutter speed is reduced to take more light in. It will almost do nothing in videos. You can find out if a phone has optical image stabilization if you gently hit you phone close to the camera with one hand while holding it with your other there should be a little noise like there coins inside the phone.. That is because the lenses move around in order to counter camera movement from shaky hands.

Lol sorry. Well it can’t be hardware if all is well when recording 4K or taking photos. So I guess it just doesn’t live up to your standards. In general many YouTube reviews criticize that 1080p looks more like 720p upscaled. Maybe that’s what you mean also.

May I know the Android version and camera software version on your Mate during that test?
Think there needs to be a thread for photos taken on the P30 Pro, given how the key feature of this phone is the camera(s).
I've also created a Google Photos gallery that people can share photos on (and video). It's non-commercial, and anyone that posts a photo obviously retains their own copyright.

Sorry, but these photos do nothing for me in terms of showing what the phone is capable of. Many (most?) of the photos are shaky or way too soft even at ISO50. I do like how the colors look tho, especially in the night photos.

Here's a few samples of mine, i had the P30 Pro since launch day and it's a camera champ. But i don't recommend you go beyond the 5x optical focal length or it won't be pretty. The noise reduction in jpeg's is a bit too strong for my taste, i hope Huawei tones it down. However the raw files are very nice to work with.
1. Flower is shot in raw at iso 50 indoors.
2. Church shot using 16mm ultrawide angle.
3, 5x at the church clock, shot raw.
4. 16mm indoors at chuch.
5. Building shot at 5x in raw.
6. Hotel interior at 16mm ultrawide angle, shot in jpeg.
7. Test of ToF sensor and fake bokeh at water fountain.
8. 5x at outdoor hotel pool 50 meters above ground. Shot from below.

Thanks for sharing. That is a shame, but still better than the shockingly bad P20 Pro that wasn't actually 960fps...
I feel this will be a great camera replacement phone for my Mate 20 Pro of course until the Mate 30 Pro comes out... I wonder if Huawei will completely ditch 3D face and notch... will be interesting. The Mate 20 Pro is a great phone... brought me back from the Apple Darkside. I can't see Apple being able to keep up with Samsung and Huawei (even Xiaomi for that matter) in the top camera phone space, anymore.... IMO. They have just lost so much ground to make it all up with their incremental updates.... I think android has brought me back with better technology, we'll see if it keeps me.

Sorry to be the bad guy, but there are no real details. It suffers from the well known Huawei processing. This phone is good for the Instagram generation, but it takes bad photos. Not true to life.
Took delivery of mine today. Not impressed at all - the usual overprocessed, smeary Huawei ****e that's probably great for those who like to mess about with DNG and Lightroom but as an auto shooter is behind the pack for normal photos VS pretty much all the other flagships.
Hopefully the promised software update with camera improvements will reach my device soon and blow me away. Already kind of pissed that my dual SIM Amazon device is actually single SIM but to be behind on a supposedly critical update already is not helping my feelings towards this phone.
Any video samples? For me video is more important than photos and it seems the Kirin CPU can not handle video with high enough bitrate, I see occasional stutter too. One reviewer mentioned that 4K video did appear like it was actually 1440p upscaled. One other review did check video bitrate and framerate and both did appear low (I think it was 27Mbps and 28fps for a 4K video).
I wonder if these things could be tweaked by modifying camera app, to try increase bitrate.

I have the opposite experience. Samples found online wasn't that impressive, but I quite like how the photos I take (in daylight so far) look., even when zoomed in. It's definitely not as sharp as say, Pixel 3XL, but very good.
I agree. The dog looks great. I'm also using a Galaxy S10+ and though I love the phone, you can barely take a pic of an animal because it smudges and smooths everything so badly. My P30 will be here soon and I'm encouraged by those pics.

My advice is to not get too excited. The examples given are in searing sunlight and even then there's some smearing and oversharpening. In the case of the dog, it's just sat still - not a challenging scenario for any phone.
Apparently some people in the UK have had the new update so I'm hoping to get it over the weekend.
I currently also have an S9 and an iPhone XR and the photos from both of those devices are better so far (with the exception of low light shots).

I want to get the 124 update before I do much more testing but here for example is a crop of some daffodils in the sunlight from the XR and P30 Pro (no AI mode).
I wish I had the .124 update before family day at the zoo but still impressed with these 10x zoom. My S10 could definitely not do this. Keep in mind that lion was through streaky zoo glass.

I personnally did not find the super-steady sharp enough, like if my exynos had a hard time interpolating the frames. Super steady has some kind of grains or pixels things like grain fog that i do not like much.
I prefer by far the use of optical stabilization only, HD 30p or even better with HD 60p.
Be able to go directly from ultra wide to wide, or to zoom, is so nice.
I barely use UHD.

Be able to go directly from ultra wide to wide, or to zoom, is so nice.

I should have paid attention to my settings at that time. I do like UHD 60FPS more than the non 60FPS as you get a lot less ghosting while panning shots.
Sorry I don't have an exact answer for you though for that shot as I was in the middle of that event, just did some shots and threw that together while sitting down for 2 minutes. If I waited to do it at home later that day I'm sure I would have done a better job on the audio levels and a few cuts.

No pb, thanks for the answear. I feel same about 60p vs 30p ; i'd rather have less ghosting and smoother shooting than stabilization ; that's why i like HD 60p, best of both world when hand held:good:
It is so easy to make a film with a few rushes just on the note10+, i love that editing feature especially with s-pen.
This was shot tonight at an event and I just quickly edited it on my Note 10 Plus 5G while in my car.

Just found out that "adobe RU for samsung" has a video recording feature, with manual settings.
Manual focus seems buggy to me, but the lock exposure is very nice.
Rush are added to gallery, i think there is no need to subscribe with monthly fee.
