[DOWNLOAD][TWRP-zip] A2017G-N-B08 ***MODEM*** - ZTE Axon 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi !
As there were some requests, I made a flashable MODEM zip for the A2017G based on N-B08 stock rom.
This is only for specific use and for those who know it's purpose
The MODEM of the N-B08 has been modified against previous versions B05 (B06 seemed to be the same as B05), so for now it's the most updated one.
This time there were modifications in :
MODEM N-B08 :
"common": "MSM8996.LA.2.0.1.c4-01008-STD.PROD-1.110886.1"
"modem": "MPSS.TH.2.0.c1.9-00104-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.110886.1"
"Metabuild_Info": {
"Meta_Build_ID": "MSM8996.LA.2.0.1.c4-01008-STD.PROD-1.110886.1",
"Product_Flavor": "asic",
"Time_Stamp": "2017-09-20 22:26:29"
Previous B05 :
"Metabuild_Info": {
"Meta_Build_ID": "MSM8996.LA.2.0.1.c4-01008-STD.PROD-1",
"Product_Flavor": "asic",
"Time_Stamp": "2017-08-08 01:30:12"

Brilliant! Thanks a lot.

It flashed just fine, but the baseband version is the same in about phone.
Maybe zte didn't change something in this release baseband wise.

Perhaps, but size and time stamps are different. There's that extra "-1.110886.1"
I did the test by flasing complete B08 rom but the baseband displayed is indeed the same TH.2.0.c1.9-00104-M8996FAAAANAZM
I think modem is new but strangly enough the diplayed text has been left the same on "about phone"
EDIT :
Checked somewhat deeper inside NON-HLOS and IMO the MODEM part is different. See modem b06 and b08
You'll see that there are some changes made. Different size...
So i think they didn't print the full baseband name but left it as before altough it changed imo :cyclops:

Notes
No, not me nor anyone who worked on any part of this rom is responsible for eventually any damaged caused to your phone or life.
Yes, offcourse i am aware this is CyanogenMod 6.1.3 officially... but in my eyes it is not worthy enough to call it that, because not everything works yet.
WARNING!
I do not want to see any fights, cursing, banthering or what so ever in any negative form in this thread... if so i will let this thread be removed.
support ended, because i bought a new phone
Changelog & Fixxes & Themes
beware you should wait up to 5minutes the first time you installed the rom
Fixxes:
- No signal? visit this page for a lower/higher baseband version and you should be capable to flash it over it.
- i am truly sorry to say, that i blocked most advertising websites, adds etc.etc. if you however for some reason do wanna have these, whipe the hosts file ^^
you found something that is broke?

Quick Review :
- Everything works!
- New bootlogo (SONY), new bootanimation (Walkman) and new baseband 72, old kernel 2.6.32.9
- Games work fine, you might notice a little lag, but since the OS install is fresh maybe that is why. I tested temple run, the accelerometer works fine and touches are responsive as they should be (infact i feel higher fps, not sure though).
- Accelerometer in normal app rotations might be a lil slow as compared to CM7.2. But thats not a major problem is it?
- Walkman app, launcher are the same, but with new icons from NXT theme
- As compared to my friend's neo v on .562, this is smoooooth....infact just like 2.3.4, quick and responsive
- Camera is the same as on Minicmsandwich lite AOSP
- Phone app (Infinite view) is slow, but is now perfectly resized for mdpi
- Calender & Calculator are same
- Two galleries - Xperia gallery(similar to 2.3.4 gallery) and ICS standard gallery
- Little jerkiness while recording 720p with image stabilizer ON, with it off, no problems.
- Track ID still wont work for lost DRM keys, unless u install the new version from Play store.
- Brightness Levels are less as compared to non stock roms like CM7.2, etc.
- Battery life needs to be tested!!!

No relevance, you can flash any ftf just make sure of correct baseband and model. Either using generic international or ph. For me im using the international generic. I thnk d only diff is on some apps that are pre installed but the rest are all the same. I suggest you retain your current unless you like to flash the ph generic found on page 5 or 6 of that thread posted by kabayan boyq.

Baseband is somehow relatd to our network frequency. Say 900/1800 etc and so on. Just flash the ftft and it will be just fine. Take note there are (2) types of wt19. One which has I and a on the end so choose wisely. For philippines I thnk wt19i is dominant, just check for the sticker on your box if its I or a.

[Kernel][5.1.1][P605] Stock SELinux Permissive kernel (OI5)

Based on the first 5.1.1 sources, version OI5
Modifications:
SELinux unlocked
Disabled protection does not allow to boot the OS(disabled at the level of Linux kernel)
Permissive mode is set automatically at boot (without the possibility to switch back to enforce)
Before(you can do it after flash,but recommended before) installing the kernel required go to build.prop,find ro.securestorage.support and set the value to false. System may forget your WiFi passwords after flash custom kernel.
SecurityLogAgent has to be removed or frozen.

Bluecat, thanks for this! I wonder if you know what differences exist between the P605 and the P607T. Also, did you use the EUR_LL source from Samsung's opensource portal? Its strange that they already have the source out for the P605, but nothing yet for the P607T which received the update first. Makes me think maybe the code base is the same and its only the bloatware bundled by the carrier that differs?
I am also curious to just learn and get my hands dirty with this. Can you share the Makefile for this kernel, or just point towards the guide you used (assuming you used one) to compile this?

Sorry,but i dont know differences between the P605 and P607T.
Yes,sources SM-P605_EUR_LL_Opensource.zip and version OI5.
If you want check have code 607 and 605 differences or not you should check checksum both original zImage(linux kernel). Extract them from both boot.img and compare.
Version 2 use standart selinux permissive way used by mostly kernel developers,it's have many changes in code now and it's will be very long to explain how to change to permissive,just use my sources available now in first post and compare them with original sources.
If you talk about how to compile kernel...was use many guides and other forums...hard part was only create .config file

Will try to extract the zImage from the P607T boot.img. I do not have the P605 though, do you know if the stock boot.img is downloadable anywhere?
Thanks for uploading the source. I just finished downloading the original source from the opensource site, will compare the two and try to understand.
I do know how to complile a linux kernel, I meant can you share the .config file (not the makefile, as I wrongly stated earlier), so I can see what has changed across the entire kernel. Rather than just change one line directly in the config file to disable SELinux, I wanted to use make menuconfig and go through the whole process, just to learn more about android kernels. But since I do not know much about the hardware and driver requirements, wanted to see a stock .config as well as your changed .config to understand.

I tried this. With ro.securestorage.support false. Still no WiFi passwords saved after reboot.
Other than that, this works great!
Xposed (for Samsung by wanam) works great!
valexi, the only thing Ive seen suggested in your case is to reflash the firmware. I do not know of any other solutions for this, because pretty much everybody with this problem seems to have solved it when they changed the securestorage thing.
BlueCat, I went ahead and compared checksums for the stock p607t and p605 kernels, they do NOT match. I also extracted the kernels themselves and the zimage files are of different sizes. I then compared the default config files of the P605_LL_EUR source with the only available source for the P607T, which is KK ... They are considerably different. I am of course going with the assumption that the core config for the kernel between KK and LL should not be TOO different, but of course, this is NOT a reliable test. Lastly, I should also say, the P607T source contained an insane number of config files in the Arch/Arm/configs folder, while the P605 source only had three files! I only compared the three that were common ... It seemed like the 607T has the config files for every possible version of the device, while the 605 one had very specific configs for that device only ... This I am speculating based on the fact that the 607T folder even had a msm8894_sec_l03ltmo_defconfig file in addition to the msm8894_sec_l03leur_defconfig file in the 605.
Will do more comparisons over the next few days, but it does seem like there are more changes under the hood between the 605 and the 607T than one would expect. I really wish samsung would release the source for the 607t, but if you check that page, there is just one single KK code there and nothing else, so it does not seem likely anytime soon

Hey guys,
Great news around, especially with roms like Alan-B's. Thanks for sharing :good:.
Running 4.4, planning to update 5.x as soon as I'm sure I can run Linux Deploy (meaning the need of permissive kernel), though I can't find any intel about VTS (Virtual Terminal Support) enabled kernel. I've been looking for months a way to run framebuffered distros and looks like this is the solution.
I could try to make it myself but I have no experience in kernels, would someone mind give me a hand to get to this goal? At least give me a hint to "quickly" develop and try one, to see if it works and how well...
Don't even know if I'm looking the right way anymore, so thanks by advance for any help and again for the sharing :highfive:.

You can't. Reflash, root, edit build.prop, reboot, set wifi password once again, reboot, it SHOULD be fine. If its not after this sequence, Im not sure what else may work. Every case of this particular problem that I've seen was resolved with this solution.
Luckily I didn't reflash yet. I checked again build.prop and securestorage was true. For some reason it didn't stick first time.
I edited it again and now WiFi works as intended. So I can say that this solution works. Great kernel.

Since I always used ARL3 devbase with my own mods I might as well grab your ARL4 now

I wonder what i'm doing wrong.. I can't force the CSC as it says it isn't supported and it won't install because in TWRP it errors with Can't detect current CSC. I can install DB 5.9 ARL2 just fine with forced CSC for example. ALso ARL3 installation and TWRP nandroid backup work fine with PHN CSC but i can't in any way install your ROM..

Can you install without forcing CSC? the Devbase script will automatically keep your current CSC.. without touching it
It never happened when I tested with one of my friends Note 9 and on my own...
Are you doing it with (Format wipe [yes]) type ? Or without wiping? And also it maybe because your Bootloader is updated for PIE and not for Oreo
I flashed ARL4 official with Odin and even then with and without forcing CSC it keeps giving the same error.
Moving the system.img into the old zip of devbase ARL3 with alexandr's original script works fine with forced CSC and xposed. I installed the ARL4 BL from the official release through Odin as well. Now i basically have the same ARL4 with all options.
same here CSC error first time ever seeing that when i tried to flash
Getting the same issue here. Please see screenshot.
Tried installing debase 5.9 then reflashing this but same error. Tried with and without forced CSC.

Nice to see there is still an Oreo update since I need to keep Magisk with Xposed Framework... :good:
I'd like to test and to flash your rom, but need to be sure it won't install a custom kernel but the stock one.
Then, would it be possible to have a zip file to customize your rom for a 7 or 8 icons dock ?

Every thing is stock.. same as Devbase I will see about having icon dock mods but I can't assure you that it will work

That's what I did ! ok maybe because of the file naming that causing issues.. I uploaded a new one with renamed file... could you test that? Or or rename the zip file to N960FXXS2ARL4_DevBase_v6.0

not working so far. I changed the name.... no good. I redonloaded it from google.... no good same error. now im gonna try downloading from mega.....no good
Not working here either, I replaced the ARL3 system.img with the ARL4 one and installed it that way. Flashed ARL4 BL manually through Odin.
Phone Info said my BL is ARL4 however AP still shows as ARL3 so I don't know if it worked properly tho..

n960F or n960N ? N has smaller system partition size than F.
mabe these users are using N model and you are using dev base for n960F .( there are 2 dev bases.... one for F and one for N)
phone runs out of writing space and scripts fail at the end probably when csc part of the script is parsed. so it may have nothing to do with csc but with the system.img partition blocksize

tested on my n960n and fails right at the beginning by script check so no idea why people with F had issues.

I have a F model too. took me a good 4hrs to restore a twrp backup after losing IMEI issue. i wont flash it till its all good on other users.

I make the vote to know if its work with all galaxy a20 .and if any one have any idea and edite the numbers of this build.prop file to make it better it will be great.but must be tested by the editor before sharing it here.
good luck for all...
@hooooossamq I got a bootloop for the first time I installed and then I restored the original build.prop and that didn't solve the problem, in the end I have to flash the whole firmware again. It's not your fault though. I guess the problem was caused by our phones being different, my bootloader is 5, yours is 6, my model is SM-A205G and yours is the F variant
