LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include "std_disclaimer.h"
/*
* Your warranty is void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
These builds contain a working HWComposer based off @tdcfpp's work. Note that currently the HWC only reliably works in portrait mode. Landscape is more complex, and getting a smooth UI would involve some work on the kernel (adding sync_fence support to the kernel drivers for FIMG2D and FIMC). In the majority of use-cases you should see improved UI fluidity, especially once apps are already loaded into RAM.
Installation
You cannot "dirty flash" from official weekly builds. You have to factory reset before installing. If you need more instructions, you shouldn't be installing this build
Download
2017-10-29
Known issues
HWC is disabled in landscape mode
Building from source
Assuming you already have a source tree set up, and all the official repos downloaded, you need to add a file like this to your local_manifests and cherry-pick these commits. Then, just "brunch i9300".
What is the HWComposer?
The HWComposer is a library that allows Android to use display hardware to render multiple 'layers' on screen, such as the status bar, the wallpaper, and the home screen. By default, Android uses the GPU to manage this rendering, which is considerably less efficient than using the dedicated display hardware.
Found a bug?
If the bug happens on official builds as well, please don't report it here. The main issues I'm interested in are:
Hardware not working at all (e.g. GPS is broken)
Media encoding/decoding issues (e.g. Netflix)
Display issues (e.g. screen turns black and won't turn back on, or some parts of the screen turn black)
Please use this template, and attach a logcat. (A rough timestamp of when the issue occurred is also useful)
Code:
What is the issue?
How did you cause the issue?
Output of "adb shell dumpsys SurfaceFlinger" while the issue is on-screen (in the case of display issues)
I don't have a huge amount of time to spend doing this at the moment, but I will try and keep up with any major issues.

Another question: hwcomposer was broken since cm9 or cm10 until now?(unless nameless rom) but last time i had tried cm12 rom by trafalgar square the ui was smooth
I am soo happy!!!

HWC required forkbomb to make changes in the kernel. So no custom kernels.
Hmm seems like i can't boot it up. I am stuck at "Samsung galaxy s3" and the phone turns off and back on at the same screen.
I wiped Data,system,cache.
Then i tried flashing one after another:
This build, gapps, boeffla kernel and addonsu.
Then i read i shouldn't use a custom kernel and did all of this over again but i just flashed the build and nothing else. Still the same, phone loops at the first screen.

No, this is experimental build that has HWcomposer working.
In a nutshell, HWcomposer will make us get better performance and battery, and its related to display making it smoother.
Until Simon fixes the HWcomposer for Lineage14.1, we probably won't get a Lineage15 build.
The fact that we got a experimental build for HWcomposer probably means it won't take long until Simon fixes the Hwc completly and he starts working on Lineage15.
Also, Simon = Forkbomb444
Bootloop issues are solved / not experienced if you wipe everything but internal storage and do a completely clean flash. I used aroma open gapps and lineage su. Later I used black substratum theme, so far so good. Did some changes to build.prop to support 60fps and the phone is smooth as butter. Thanks Simon! I think we finally have a 99% fully functional HWC!
Edit: Also it made a noticable battery life improvement and the blacks are deep & full now!
(System font used is Product Sans (from Pixel 2, flashable zip) and Lawnchair Launcher);

Sorry, I thought this is what you did earlier (flashing Boeffla).
That might've caused the bootloop.

60 FPS:
add this to the bottom of build.prop
persist.sys.NV_FPSLIMIT=60
Product Sans font (for LineageOS, any LOS Version, just flash it and no need to wipe any cache / dalvik):

Installation Instructions:
First off, make sure you are running the latest official TWRP. It will be continually updated with support for this ROM's features.
Secondly, ensure at the very least, you are on the MM update. If you are not, then flash the stock ROM via Odin, and perform a system update.
Thirdly, this ROM is ONLY for the SM-J700P, also known as j7ltespr, or the J7 2015 Snapdragon.
Perform a factory reset in TWRP
Select advanced settings under 'Wipe', and wipe 'System'
Flash the LineageOS 15.0/14.1 ROM
Install any other modifications (MindTheGapps (ARM), and/or Lineage SU)

Well it says the damn model number of our version and you guys have a thread for your phone. No need of warning, just look.
Does this really work? Just so I'm correct, this is for the SM-j700p, I'm using that on boost mobile. I have that same j7 update so I will go ahead if this is real and try it out.

also how can I find out if I'm using your version of TWRP? I'm pretty sure I might be, but how can I know for sure?
& could you advise which GAPS to download?

This build here "works", but soon, after I get all of these bug squashed, there is going to be a build with everything working. And yes, this is for the J700P. I'm not entirely sure how you can tell if you're using my TWRP. If you aren't sure, reflash my TWRP.

any idea of the hugs involved? Could you create a rough list of bugs you have noticed. Also if you don't mind, do you know where I can get the stock room/other files so I can revert back to default. This is my main phone so I need to make sure I have what I need to make it operable again, just in case it becomes inoperable.
*Edit* also if you wouldnt mind showing me how to use logcat and whatever else I will need to properly test and help isolate things.

A new build of LineageOS 14.1 is here! With it, are many changes.
Changelog
Upstreamed kernel to latest CAF Branch (LA.BR.1.2.9_rb1.22)
Upstreamed wifi driver to latest CAF Branch (LA.BR.1.2.9_rb1.22)
Added F2FS support
Crushed many bugs (In-Call Audio is still broken, but that's it AFAIK)
Updated SDCardFS driver
Went from permissive SELinux to enforcing
The download link is already updated in the post. If there are any issues, please run "adb logcat -v long > log.txt" and attach the long, along with a verbose description of the issue.

We’re really excited to announce that we are releasing our Nougat flavour of Paranoid Android. We have a lot in store - with a mix of both features & improvements.
First & foremost, we have moved our code base to be fully CAF based. This brings many improvements to your device. The key improvement here is that Qualcomm hardware is better tuned on the CAF base and with our additional optimizations we can provide a smooth and fluid user experience that will let you enjoy using your device without any lags.
On first launch you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson who’s teamed up with us again and created several beautiful pieces of artwork. For those of you who don’t know, Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work stands itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We have also added several new features and made improvements to the UI of the system that we believe would enhance the overall experience.

This ROM was tested under the following conditions:

Any other conditions may cause problems
This is the first build, there may be issues that I didn't test for, but major functionality is OK.

I highly doubt it
I just made this: PA_KK_BL_kernel.zip. Try it, flash after rom+gapps and before supersu. I haven't tested it so I can't guarantee it does work.
Okay, guys!
Short review!
I've tested the rom for a few days now and so far it is rock stable. All works fast and smooth and battery seems on par with AICP/LOS/RR.:highfive:
I'm missing a lot of features like more quick settings tiles, more customizable navbar, statusbar center clock and so on... :crying:
It's almost like stock android with another browser, calender and music app and theming options, which I've not tried yet.
I know, it's an early build but I need too much of additional apps to get the missing features back, so I'll switch back to my prefered rom for now.
Maybe when more features are added and the rom is more like PA in 2014/15 was....but it is a start!:good:
ROM Looks Tasty
I'm always up for a port that tries a new direction and this seems to do that. All my tests with new ROMS is always full format and wipe, running current stable TWRP, LP BOOTLOADER, etc. It looks like this work runs plain Super SU without Magisk, and you indicate open gapps. Could I use magisk at all? And I find the BEANS Gapps to be more reliable.
Not to pry, but where are you focusing now for these versions? Are you still going to keep up with the big changes that PA brings, or work further with Oreo developement?
Either way, I'd like to give this one a run just for fun.
Thanks as always for your work that keeps my tabs, and my wife very happy. ;DeanoD

I missed something here; I have Prime kernel on all my units. Is it essential to switch to the Lineage Kernel that you provide? Always curious about inter-compatibility with such things to keep it working well.
With that said, I need an updated to my TWRP version. In which order to flash TWRP, KERNEL, ROM, AND SUPERUSER. (Or TWRP, ROM, MAGISK- or is that asking for trouble? Thaks again. ;-DeanD
Solid ROM. Nice, Simple, Clean
I flashed this ROM last night, and so far, I'm very impressed. While it lacks some of the bells and whistles from the RR build, it has a solid feel to it. Speed and performance are great as well. Other than a slight keyboard lag, this could work well as a daily driver on my stable of three smp600 units. I started with one, found one online when my wife wanted one, and then I got another for backup (and tinkerin') . While the ROM flashed perfectly, the suggested kernel was a bust. But, the build is I think more robust than the other's I've tried. I do miss having a recents menu, and I haven't been able to find any pie controls. I'm glad that I was scouring the forums and found this gem. Great Work! ;-DeanoD
"Official Devices"?
I'm interested about the improved pie controls listed under the features of this ROM.
I could not find them. I'm guessing that my smp 600 is somehow not an "Official Device" for this ROM. Just curious. ;-DeanoD
With all apparent development at a standstill for all of there great ROMS from the crew here at XDA, I suspect that there are others like me who are having withdrawal symptoms. Dare I say that XDA further spoils us because we reap the benefits of ROM developments A LOT faster here than we would otherwise get from the OEMS. I still cringe when I see an ad for a "new" android device running VERSION 5! Then they put so much effort into the next new devices.
All I can say or offer is my sincere praise for the people here BEHIND the ROMS. But, can anyone PLEASE offer some glimmer of hope that all is not completely dead with our SMP600 just yet. And, if anyone needs testers, I am ready to run with any of the roughest draft ROMS. This one seemed to start with a great starting point and then just stopped. Any news at all? ;-DeanoD
So far I like the ROM it feels solid. I use my tablet for drawing mostly and I'm finding that palm rejection is not working. The apps that I use are Autodesk Sketchbook Pro and Adobe Photoshop sketch. Anyone else seem to be having this issue?

Yeah, I'm also having the same issue, on stock palm was rejected when the pen was recognized, that doesn't happen here unfortunately. Couldn't get my LeftureNotes app to work no matter what I chose for palm rejection. Otherwise great ROM!
@ZakooZ Did you will update the ROM to Paranoid Android 7.3.1 or to Paranoid Android OA1 ?
Has anyone been able to install Netflix and Disney+?

My only conclusion for that problem is that the SafetyNet may be broken.
Btw does anyone have this ROM still?

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
It is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Want Root access??
Just flash with TWRP the LineageOS SU Addon zip file found on the download section... Flash it after you have flashed Google Apps!!!
Then enable the developer options menu with this guide:
To enable Developer Options, open the Settings screen, scroll down to the bottom, and tap About phone or About tablet.
Scroll down to the bottom of the About screen and find the Build number.
Tap the Build number field seven times to enable Developer Options. Tap a few times and you’ll see a toast notification with a countdown that reads “You are now X steps way from being a developer.”
When you’re done, you’ll see the message “You are now a developer!”. Congratulations. Don’t let this newfound power go to your head.
Tap the Back button and you’ll see the Developer options menu just above the “About Phone” section in Settings. This menu is now enabled on your device—you won’t have to repeat this process again unless you perform a factory reset.
Now go into the developers options menu and find the option to enable root access!!
Flashed the SU Addon and now you want to remove it from your phone??
Just download the LineageOS SU Addon remover and flash it with TWRP...
OMS SUPPORT HAS BEEN DROPPED FROM THE ROM SINCE 20170902!!

Information about the kernel and its features will be added here soon...
Whats up guys! Some of you may already know me, or may have heard of me, from my work in ha3g (Galaxy Note 3 exynos)... Today I come here to bring you my latest work, a fully stable and functional LineageOS ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S5 exynos variant...
It took a lot of time and effort to bring this up to this point, when I started with this project like 10 days ago I found a device that was really broken (random reboots, bugs all over the place, missing features, terrible battery life and performance...) I entirely redid the kernel from scratch, and redid 90% of the device and vendor trees to get the result we see here today... The device works like a charm, battery life is great, it is complete feature wise, and nothing is broken (except for the two minor bugs listed in the OP bug section...)
As I always do, i will give you THE reminder...
*You NEED to flash this clean (wipe system, data, cache and dalvik-cache before flashing)
*Don't use xposed/magisk/mods... these kind of mods will certainly interfere with the well functioning of the system...
If you didn't follow these procedure, and encounter a bug, please don't report it... start over the proper way and try to reproduce the bug again before giving any report...
Also, i do not take into consideration the reported bugs I can not reproduce in my own device... the device I hold in my hand is the same you have in yours, if it works for me, it works for you...
This ROM is labeled as STABLE... what does this mean? It is suitable to be used as Daily Driver and has no major issues...
What's next now? Bring up the selinux policy, get cves for the kernel, and go Official...
Guess I don't have anything more to add for the moment... I hope you enjoy my work!
Happy flashing!
EDIT: Added some screenshots! Sorry for the crappy battery screenshot... I dont have a proper one... but you can tell by the screenshot that the stand-by times are great!
Thanks for your efforts mate we waited for this since device released
Welcome brother @tincho5588. I sold my n900 and bought g900h. I really missed your n900 roms. They were very stable. And finally you brought life to g900h too thank you very much ???
Battery is not decreasing it is unlimited lol. Ambient display, leds, fingerprint everything is working

Installation instructions:
1. Make sure you have TWRP installed on your device to be able to flash the rom.
2. Download the latest build from the link above and copy it to a place where you can find it later.
3. Optionally download GApps for using the Play Store and other Google related services from here: https://opengapps.org. Choose ARM as architecture and 8.1 as the OS version. The size of the GApps package is upon to you how much apps you want to have preinstalled. Copy this zip aswell to a place where you can find it easy later. If you download it with Chrome or with the Google Drive App it should be by default in the Download folder.
4. Turn your phone off and press Volume UP + Home Button + Power button at the same time until the splash screen appears. Then your device should boot into the recovery. There you wipe following partitions: Data, System, Cache, Dalvik if this is your first install. All of your installed applications get lost by this. Your photos, videos etc. won't get deleted if you haven't ticked the box for internal storage. As the kernel also supports F2FS i would change the filesystem for the cache partition from ext4 to f2fs for a better system performance. Now go to the main TWRP menu, click on install and go to the place where you have placed your zips and first select the rom and then click on the left button if you have downloaded the optional GApps package to add another zip to the queue. Now swipe the slider at the bottom to install and reboot the phone to the system. The first boot can take a while and after booting you could experience some lags because of the GApps initialization but they should disappear after some time.
5. Now you have successfully installed the rom and you're ready to use ResurrectionRemix on your device. Congratulations!
Bugs:
- VoLTE (isn't working on samsung devices and won't work anytime in the future too)
- Same as LineageOS 15.1

Quad Core Kernel. I won't publish any of my new roms with Octa Core Kernel's because of the high battery drain.

As I see this rom audio recording is working fine right? I had another issue with L15.1 which was that I couldn't get faceunlock to work at all, it didn't even show up in the setings. It wasn't the gapps cause I use those same gapps on extendedAOSP and it worked. Also at some point the mic stopped working, etheir for calls nor audio recording. I'm on 14.1 now but it doesn't play flac natively and the music player I use doesn't support flac by itself, all the rest is great en 14.1. So, if anyone is kind enough to advice me about this ROM that'd be great, I'm getting a little tired of flashing, mostly because I need the phone for work during the day and the microphone dying is not cool XD Thanks in advance.

RR should be as stable as my Lineage OS builds as it is based on my trees. Only current issue is buggy MTP but this will be mostly solved in our kernel tree soon.
RR-Pie-v.7.0.1 is coming soon
Hi,
(This is my first post on xda, so I'm not sure I'm doing it right. Tell me if I should do it differently so I learn)
I like this rom, and have used it in various versions of several devices, so I'm happy to see it is developed for this device too.
However, when i try to flash it to my SM-A310F, I get the error that this rom is for a3xelte, while my device is (blank space) .
I use TWRP v. 3.0.2.1 and have flashed the revolution OS rom with success. This rom works ok, but I just miss some the customizations and functionalities in RR.
-And also the lack of samsung software, which I use none of and just disable.
I general, I can install roms which are based on the stock samsung rom in some way or another (like the revolution OS), but not roms like RR, dotOS or lineages.
From Software settings (running revolution OS):
Baseband: A310FXXU2BPG6
Kernel version: 3.10.105-NOUGAT-ALX-0.0.2
So, do any of you clever people have a good idea why my SM-A310F is not considered worthy for RR? Is there a way to flash it anyway, or is this a hardware issue of some sort?
And thanks!

You need to update TWRP. Here you find the latest official build: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/a3xelte
And also you could do a baseband update. Flash the newest firmware for your country via ODIN and install TWRP and RR after that again.
I recommend you to use RR 7 (Android 9) instead of this. I haven't published a build since a long while.
Thanks so much for the very quick response! I will give both a try starting with updating twrp. I'm not sure where to look for the baseband update, but I will try to find it if twrp update does not work.

You can use the tool samfirm (google it) or updato.com
Baseband updates can improve signal strength/battery life. But it is not necessary.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.
I'd love to try RR7, but I can't find the download link in the relevant thread (it says removed by OP) or in the RR homepage. Therefore I chose this version instead. Is RR7 available somewhere else.

Notes
I've been using this on my T585 since yesterday and I have to say it's amazing!
Nice and smooth, tons of options and the home button wake works out of the box, woohoo :victory:
It does have sysserv, so Substratum themes don't need a reboot to get applied. My version did not have the Substratum key added, not sure if this final version does. I'll post the key apk once I find out if it needs to be installed seperately :good:
It's a grrrrrrrreat rom ... try it if you have the time
Screenshots are with Flare Substratum Theme btw
Edit: So I talked to @srgrusso and the key is NOT included. I've added it to my post now - if you want to use Substratum simply install the app and then the attached Substratum Key 1.0.apk. Then you can build + install your overlays and head to the Manager tab, select them and enable. No more reboots
Substratum key removed since it's now included in the rom :good:
How does it compare to stock or rr remix? Stock ROM is smooth as butter. I tried rr remix but some games I play ran poorly on it so I went back to stock and the performance was drastically different.

I can't tell how well it runs games since I've only played PUBG on mine. I never even considered play games on mine because of the specs. I always play my games on my OnePLus 6T. There are some differences between the stock rom and most of the custom roms you find here for the this tablet. Most of the code has been converted to 64bit where the stock rom only runs 32bit code. Also the custom roms are running a different kernel. The only thing I can say is try it and let us know.

correct, i forgot about that. substryatum.key is missing from this rom, maybe srgrussu can include it in source (same was on our lg v30)

I can't tell you that, I have a PC to play games on and never play on my tablet/phone ... plus I was only on stock with this device for exactly 2 days when I got it back in November

No idea how many users actually use Substratum anyway though ... but hey, installing the apk takes 2 seconds, so that shouldn't be a problem
So I went ahead and flashed this rom and I gotta say it runs pretty smooth, just as smooth as the stock rom. I did notice though for some reason when you have gboard in float mode there's a white line that runs across the screen where the full size board would be, it doesn't do that on stock or any of the other roms I've tried.
Overall I say this is a pretty great rom thank you for working/releasing it.

Substratum key has been added. No need to install it anymore.
To see complete change log see link in post #2
I dirty flashed the update without any issues :victory:
These steps should be followed though, if you already have Substratum AND the seperate key installed:
Disable or uninstall all overlays
Uninstall Substratum
Go into apps/all apps, find the Substratum Key (NOT the helper) and uninstall that too.
Then you can dirty flash, wipe dalvik/cache, boot up and install Substratum again.
Now while building the overlays Substratum MIGHT flake out on you and show you an empty screen with that spinning circle, but you should see it still building them all in the notification area. It's simply a visual glitch, but it still works :good:

This probably isn't the right place to ask this question but I don't know where else to ask. When I google "Substratum", looks like some sort of special VPN network. But the XDA forum makes it look like another "theme" UI for Android. Which is it?

Well, look it up in the Playstore - https://play.google.com/store/search?q=substratum&c=apps
The top hit is the Substratum theme engine you need to run the many amazing themes, the other hits are some of themes
New TEST builds.
I'm testing out a new kernel from @followmsi OC branch. It is an overclocked kernel with all 8 cores functioning. Please leave your feedback on performance and battery life.
Thanks

are these links to separate kernel files, that we install with TWRP on an already installed ROM, or are these files of the ROMs, that include the overclocked kernel?

Yea, RR is nice too ... but LiquidRemix has more options. Somehow RR Pie lost a ton of options that were still available on Oreo, no clue why.
But luckily we can all like different things ... life would be very boring otherwise :good:

How does it compare to havoc in terms of customization?
