Which setting do people use and why?
Default, it's more than good enough.
I have mine on default. I just wondered if anyone preferred the other settings
Compared to z5 the display seems a bit more on the yellow side. Ive increased the blue level.

I think increasing the blue color will damage the screen in long term use if I'm not wrong
sRGB profile is more realistic and "white color is white color". On standard color looks very pleasing but the white color is broken to kind of yellow tune. which is very visible on Settings for example.

I have read in somewhere that in IPS LCD yellowish screen work better than blue one to show black color.
maybe this is the secret behind the crisp looking screen of the XZ1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
iPhone 4 had the same issue !
now it is Sony turn to tell us about the yellow screen ?!

I've seen a lot of youtube videos of the galaxy s II and from what I can tell, the screen is still oversaturated like the original galaxy s, with the same blue tint on white backgrounds. Any chance this would be adjusted, or even have a user-adjustable option, by release? I'm guessing a majority of people outside of forums don't care and prefer the gaudy colors, like how they crank up the color on new TVs and everyone's face looks red, because buyers prefer it. But an option would be much needed for those not so inclined to the heavy colors. Another thing I would want is a lower brightness setting. LCDs get washed out but AMOLEDs can handle lower settings and still have good contrast. With that, the ability to adjust the minimum and maximum threshold for the auto-brightness instead of one predefined setting, as well.
I doubt Samsung (or any other manufacturer) would let you modify that much in the settings. The phone is not a monitor, however I certainly see the possibilty of changing those options (or at least some) once some kind souls will start messing with the firmwares and kernels.

i am pretty sure that the sgs 2 will have the same same over saturated colours and the tint(looking at review videos).i am not a fan of amoled i do like its blacks but the over saturation does my headache i prefer ips to amoled any day. if it was not their Soc's i'd never have bought sgs.

A challenging task for the devs here ...........
I only see a blue tint when I tilt the angle of the screen. It doesn't take much to see it and becomes more extreme the more it's tilted. Looking straight on is fine. I didn't expect there to be perfect viewing angles but tilting just a little the blue tint is really prominent. Easily viewed on a pure white screen.
Great phone, though I want to use the device to watch videos and two things bother me: the blue tint when not viewed straight on and the over saturated colours. The colour green is very oversaturated much to the point where I think there's green in the videos showing up that shouldn't be there! I know you can adjust the colour tones, that include warm, cold and natural. If the image looks too yellow/green then the cold setting looks a bit more natural on some videos. I would have preferred a proper configuration for adjusting the complete colour balance.
The screen is wonderful but is let down by these two things. If it's something that can't be helped then that's the way it is, but it would be great to have more control over the colour settings and if the blue tint is really a limitation of the type of screen/glass, or the first batch of phones have an inherent fault with the screen?
On thing that is also off is the gamma curve!
greys become dark too fast, shadow details are crushed, even though the screen has the potential not to do this. On the contrary, with such black levels, the panel should be able to show more shadow details.
I suspect this is a battery saving choice, rather than a screen limitation. I'd rather have an accurate gamma though.
Google will need to allow custom color profiles in Android soon!
My Galaxy S has much more natural colors than the S2 that I just bought. I can't stand the disney colors! Hope some developer will be able to fix that soon!

There is some degree of control (not much though) over the saturation in Settings > Display > Background effect.

The easiest way to see this is to view a white page/screen. Look straight on and then begin tilting the phone in any direction. The blue tint becomes noticeable and more extreme the more you tilt it. I wouldn't have a problem if it was only noticeable at extreme angles, but I do see it if the viewing angle isn't straight on. For phone use this is fine, not so bothered. Not so good when watching media.
Regarding the tint,
Also when i purchased the phone in may the gray was going into pink!
On later updates colors seem better! aswell i rember i posted a request in chainfires 3d drivers tread were i ask the guy kindly to add support for custom rgb mode nightmode tones...
So from his application if u play with nightmode function you can tilt your color as u like!

Hi,
I just got my i9100, but when I adjust the screen brightness to 0-20%,
the white color will become yellow tint obviously.
Does anyone have the same problem??

Mine is whites are pure white at any angle even at the lowest brightness.
Can anybody else see the yellow tint, if they can it must be a faulty display or maybe you need a firmware upgrade, I dont know.

It could be a defective screen. There are some settings that effect the color temperature of the screen. Play with those to see if it helps.
Under Settings>Display>Background Effect, see what's checked and play with the different choices to see if it helps.
Under Settings>Display, see if Auto adjust screen power is checked. Toggle it back and forth and see what that does.
If it still yellow, exchange the phone. If anything, whites tend to run toward a blueish not yellow tint.

I think s/he's saying its the entire screen. That's been reported a few times. Sadly, there seems to be big variations in the color temperatures of the screen from phone to phone.

yes, that is the entire screen, not just part / a section of it.....
the color tone become quite yellow for the whole screen when the brightness is set to 0-20%, but when I set it to >20% brightness, seems there is no such problem.
I think the quality of Samsung screen is very various ....>.<

I'm returning a SG2 because of it's low brightness and slightly over the top blue hue from viewing angles.
I compared it to my SG2 and it's solid whites from all viewing angles and twice the brightness of the faulty one on the lowest brightness setting.
Checked the settings, made no difference. Compare to a number of SG2, and then you'll know if your phone has a problem with its display.
It's no secret that the white balance of the screen is a but awry on our devices. The image has a bluey-purply tint to it which should be correctable with the white balance settings. I've had a go at this with limited success. Has anyone been able to get something that looks correct?

In a dutch review that was published on tweakers.net, the reviewer did the following:
Red to 183, green to 145 and blue to 0 for the best result. The screen is not perfect, but at least it's less blue.
Calibration looks like some sort of screenfilter. Luminosity and contrast suffer.
Luminosity goes from 629 to 450cd/m² and contrast from 930:1 to 650:1
Mine was reddish. So i just pumped up the green a little

I find the screen almost dead on white, pretty good really compared to the previous z1 and z3 compact.
Hello, I currently own a Galaxy S6 Edge, the black Sapphire one. The problem is that the screen is way too yellowish for me on white backgrounds, I did a comparison with my fiancee's HTC M8 and the difference is terrible.
I used to have some RGB sliders to caliber the screen the way I like on my previous phones. Isn't there any way to do the same on the S6 Edge to fix this ? (I'm rooted).
And BTW I don't want to use any screen filters as it decreases performance, i want real settings.

Have you set the screen to AMOLED photo? That should calibrate it to the right settings.
It's even more yellow with the photo mode :/

The screen on the S6(E) is pretty darn accurate. Odds are the M8 is likely the inaccurate display and giving a bluish hue to the white instead of how white actually should appear. If you compare your phone and your fiancee's phone to a display that's accurately calibrated, you'll see how close to being accurate the display on your phone is. Also here is the review from Anandtech showing similar results in their display test.

Most people are not used to having calibrated screens and therefore, view the bluish white as the correct white when the correct color temperature of white is more on the warmer side. Also screen filters such as Chainfire's CF.Lumen have very little if not zero performance reduction when running in root mode and they allow you to customize the temperatures for day/night/sleep mode with many options.

Here is Anandtech's review of the display on the Galaxy S6(E). While there are small variances from display to display, unless you have a defective unit, I highly doubt there's more than a 5% difference between what you have and the review unit.

I'm looking to buy an S10 lite, because here in Brazil it is the best option, since the other Galaxy's are all with Exynos.
However, I have seen a lot of complaints about the green screen problem. Can you tell me if this is a software or hardware problem?
I urgently need a smartphone, but I'm stuck for these reported problems ...
hardware. lots of oleds have this issue to varying degrees. it's only noticable on mine at the absolute dimmest setting and most noticable on mid to dark gray backgrounds. bump up the screen brightness even a hair and it completely disappears. hope that helps

this is incorrect.
I can see it on the bottom of my phone's screen when the color is grey and with low brightness level (5-10%). I rarely use it with that low brightness level, so that doesn't bother me.

I noticed it with no blue light filter enabled. It's happen more often with dark mode because most apps will use grey colors as background, and this color makes the green tint issue visible.
Yeah ive seen it also, i stopped using darkmode because of it. The thing what annoyed me more is the blurr and transformation of the shape when scrolling a grey bar/shape over a blackish background. I found the greys disapointing coming of a cheap phone but with good lcd screen. Watching media was more enjoyable on old phone. Sold it after a week.
