VU Iconium 55" 4k Smart TV Hacking, Rooting, OS Change - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Regards to all reputated members of this forum. I am considerably a noob to this forums so please bear with me and my mistakes or typos. This is my first post on this forum.
I've purchased VU Iconium 4K LED TV last year in Feburary 2016. It has a pathetic VU Smart OS installed. I can't install anything on it from google play store as it allows only opera store to install apps. The stock browser is opera and really getting on to my nerves. Can't even access google play store.
Can't find out how much RAM and ROM or what other hardware specs are there in TV as it is not disclosed by the manufacturers. This company never reveals their hardware specs.
Stone age OS installed on the TV.
TV has limited inbuilt Apps and Opera App Store has limited apps too.
Can't install web browsing apps like Mozilla or Chrome.
Can't install MX Player or other apps on TV. Inbuilt Movie player is horrible and of stone age era.
Can't use keyboard and mouse with anything.
No keyboard typing support is there.
Can only use the remote provided with the TV.
No firmware updates from the company so far.
TV quality is marvelous but the OS is a big disappointment.
My question to experts is, how can I install Apk's on my TV?
Any possibility to "ROOT" it? How can I root a LED TV? I haven't found any tutorials online. Neither on YouTube nor on Google Search.
Possibility to install Another OS on my LED TV? May be a full fledged Android OS, if yes, How can I do it?
Is there any expert and dedicated group that Hacks/Roots SMART 4K TV interfaces? If so, can someone please direct me to that forum or website? I've searched the forums and I've only encountered Hacking and rooting TV dongles/boxes but nothing on SMART TVs interfaces.
I hope you guys could help me out. I really detest this OS from VU and would like to be able to utilize the full potential of my 4k TV. Any help on this is really really appreciated.

But the chat executive told me that this model is no longer supported in USA. Is there any way I can get a HISENSE latest firmware update for this model?

Yes, it's confirm that the model which VU sold in 2016 model number shared above is Hisense 55H8C model. I have checked the user mannual. Sharing the link here now.

SO I FOUND A THREAD ON QOURA AND THE PERSON BELONGED TO THE FIELD OF INSTALLING AND REPAIRING TV SAID THAT THE COMPANY VU DOES NOT
GIVE FIRMWARE ON ANY SITE AND YOU MUST CONTACT THEM AND THEN THEY WILL SEND YOU THE UPDATE VIA EMAIL.
I AM FACING THE SAME ISSUE IN MY VU 43BU114 (SAME ICONIUM SERIES ) AND WILL TRY IT OUT

the os is generic android based on 4.4.3 version.

Hi everyone,I have the same VU iconium 4k Android tv model(43BU113).I am having the same issue it's totally waste of money .One thing that I can suggest you that you should buy a "Amazon fire TV stick 4k".It will be a better option as you will connect with the fire TV stick with your HDMI port with your VU tv and make your TV the Real time 4k tv and having unlimited apps in the fire tv .It will be worth if you'll buy it!

I have better playback experience using MX Player w/ ARM v7 Neon codecs (HW+ decoding) for 1080p and 10-bit H.264 (yes, I watch anime). In other words, these boxes seem almost exactly comparable (they may have the exact same hardware).
both of these boxes have since been updated to the Amlogic S812 processor M8S & the MXiii plus the M8S has also another model now available in the M8S+ with 1 gb lan port and running android 5.1.1. Hey, for me m8s+ is a big now. Had it a while now and not able to get a status bar or navigation bar to show/work. I've tried a couple of rom, including the one above and 5.1.1. Any info or help would be great, is the status bar and navigation bar just not possible here?

How to update MXIII to Android 5.1 or Custom ROM I have Amlogix MXIII 4K TV BOX running Android 4.4.2, it sometimes does not turn on properly and gets stuck at MXBOX logo and keeps loading, I have to take out power and put it back multiple times before it loads to home screen, is there anyway to fix this or update this box to a custom file or android 5.1 for better performance ?
Hello my friends, I've an mxiii 2g/8g bricked, no hdmi signal, red light only.. I've manage to bring it to this after a half booting by a power line failure, and then only the red light was on... I was looking to revive it with amlogic usb tool, but only to 2% then give a pll error..even with several img...was not reading from sd card with boot magic... Any thoughts? Thanks

Assuming that you have backups etc, you could try the way I successfully upgraded my S812 box. If you do, make sure you let us know how it went

The T95M arrived to me in 6 days via DHL with no custom fees to pay (Different everytime but in
most cases with DHL you will need to pax customs taxs)

It has 2 full sized usb ports,1 otg port,micro sd card slot,AV,ethernet,HDMI out,SPDIF & the power
port & not forgetting the secret recovery button in the AV hole.
The T95M is a small sized tv box but its not lacking anything,I will mention It has no power button
on the device its self,But it comes with a good IR remote so you can do most things from the
remote.Its also nice to see a clock on the front of the tv box thats something different.
There’s plenty of ventilation holes on the bottom of the box to help with the cooling.This is a
must have on any tv box IMO as many tv box's over heat but not this one.
The box comes pre rooted & is running android Lolliopo 5.1 With some useful apps

addons thats two hours of my life gone so now back to my normal kodi setup.

As you can see in the photo below there is a heatsink,Its only tiny but doing a great job The T95M
gets warm not hot,But i will fit a bigger one myself when i get around to it.
Games
Games iv tested so far are the normal games i use to test ,Beach buggy blitz & Asphalt 8 both of them played perfect with no lag whats so ever they also load very fast..
All the games iv tested have been with my PS3 controller using the sixaxis app 0.8.3
Device & firmware

The firmware on this box is a lot better than i was expacting & everything works as it should so far.
Firmware on my box when arrived is LMY47V.20160622
It will be interesting to see if we will get any OTA firmware updates (We would like to see this

Customization If I flash the stock firmware will it remove their kodi version and addons? That's what I want to do. Or are there any ROMs for this custom or vanilla android. Thanks

I got one of these and the FIRST thing I did was flash it to run Libreelec as that's what I want to use it for, first from SDcard and then from NAND, so now it runs just KODI, you do lose the front display and there are a few other minor niggles (being resolved by third parties) I have tested to 4K and H265 10bit and all works great. The firmware download is over a GB !! so I assume it will have all the associated crap in there... If all you want to do is run KODI then I suggest you flash Libreelec to the NAND and Bob your aunties lawn mower man...

hi, I have same box as you, order from gearbest. i having problem setting the "TV Control" button. How u set it so it can control my tv?
Youtube and Netflix quality I have this box but I can't seen to get 1080p on anything. Youtube maxes out at 360p and Netflix looks bad as well. I've tried changing the setting on the box to 1080p but that hasn't helped anything. Anyone have any ideas before I send this box back?

Hi There I have the Sunvell T95M 4K HD TV Box 64Bit Android 5.1 - 2GB + 8GB model and am struggling to get to see the attached hard drive over my home LAN. I can ping the device successfully but cannot connect to it through Windows Explorer. Any settings on the device I need to set? Someone who can maybe point me to a proper manual. Thanks!

Set daylight saving time. Change the big icons on the Launcher Configure a UK external keyboard with the £ and the @ in the right places. Get YouTube to display 1080p60 (I can get 1080p30 but all the 60Hz HD streams only display at 360p or 480p) - Probably needs later TV YouTube app. Phone one is a bit better but a faff to use. I need those TV remote controls. PlayStore is the basic 'mobile/tablet' one. Is there a way of accessing the Android TV one somehow? I'm assuming because the PlayStore is basic Android, most of the apps will be designed for touch which leads me to.. BBC iPlayer's UI seems to be 'touch' only. Any idea how to get it to work with TV remote? Any decent HD "TV remote compatible" apks for Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, BBC iPlayer? Any other useful tips, tricks and hints to beat this thing into submission? Cheap and pretty powerful it may be but plug n play it isn't.
