Hello,
I have checked in the forums already but I didn't fidn a definitive answer, and most of the thread use the "rebranding" strategy which I do not trust fully (it's a little opaque). This begs the following question: how one would, given the update files from Huawei, update using fastboot? This assuming an already unlocked device with TWRP on it.
Thanks in advance.

Hello. I joined today to the happy(?) owners of Archos 101 G9 turbo group. After purchase I instantly searched XDA for the device, and found this section. My device is running newest 4.0.7 update. Some questions came to my mind after reading tutorials here. I listed them here, and hope someone can help me by answering them.
1. There is a nice tutorial for rooting and installing sde. Are they still working with this 4.0.7 update?
2. How does the downgrading work? Is it just by using older root image?
3. In multiboot menu section i noticed that someone had it working with 4.0.7, but newest version was 4.0.6. Is there a link i missed?
It was the zimage version 4.0.6.
4. There is a rom which has more 3g modems working. Does it work with multiboot, or will it overwrite the "main" rom?
No. I only added required files to custom rom.
And lastly,
5. There is a way to make ubuntu working. Multiboot menu didn't support flashing kernel, so does it require kernel change before using?
Yes. I had to use kernel which supported ubuntu.
I apologise if these are stupid questions, but I rather ask than brick. I hope you understand
Edit: answered some of my questions.

1. Yes, it works fine, download the rooted 4.0.7 firmware and flash it after enabling SDE.
2. Why would you want to downgrade?

Hi,
I'm fairly new with this phone, and I had rooted it without unlocking the bootloader. (downgrade to GB, root, then upgrade to ICS)
I just found out that a newer version of ICS is released the other day and was wondering that if there is anyway I can update my device while keeping the root ? Say, if I use flashtool to flash the new version, will I lose the root? Or should I use the pc companion software? Or cwm recovery?
I am a total noob here, and I have no idea what I'm doing... Kind of want to figure everything out before I accidentally bricked my phone.
you could try the thread about it on the development section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1857736
or you can try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856287
And btw, use the search button first, or at least read the thread titles in the first page ¬¬
Thanks !!
I must have phrased the keywords wrong or something last night since neither of the posts you provided was in the search result.
Thanks for sharing the posts though. I had just successfully upgraded my phone with PCC while preserving the root !!

Is that guide still safe to use? Not outdated?
I'm confused by your question. The guide tells you what update it's for. If you are on that update and firmware, the guide will work. If you aren't, it probably won't.
I think I've looked everywhere on here and haven't found specific instructions on how to flash the bootloader. (Step 5 of the OP on http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-4-5-4-twrp-root-t3141648 ) I know this is a newb question, but I've search this forum, YouTube and Google to no avail.
Here's what I've done so far:
Out of the box 4.5.3.
OTA update to 4.5.4.
Updated to Dev Preview 5.20.
Downgraded to 4.5.3.
Rooted
Installed TWRP
I have all of the necessary files specified in the thread. Just not sure how to flash the bootloader. Again, sorry for the newb question. Thanks!
<Sigh> Post was fine where it was, and where I answered it . . .
Guys please help me here I have been reading many posts I'm bit confuse a lot thing going here .
I'm receiving new amazfit watch from China i guess it will come with latest chinese firmware
#So if the watch comes with latest Chinese firmware with LOCKED BOOTLOADER can I still convert to English or no solution here
#How can you check if the BOOTLOADER is locked or not
I don't care as long I can update to English ROM with all features and OTA enabled.
Thanks guys I'm just looking for help:good:
I think you can translate the watch to english even if the bootloader is unlocked, but I'm not sure. Search the forums a little and you'll find the answer.
You can see if the bootloader is locked by looking up the software version. If it's 1.2.13 (Chinese) or 1.3.2b (English) or newer, it's locked. If its older, than the bootloader is unlocked and you can install PACEfied.
If the bootloader is locked, maybe there is a hope for it to be unlocked as Neuer_user and others are working on unlocking it.
EDIT: I see you got your answer about translating the watch in another thread. Please don't post the same question to multiple threads. I know you are probably impatient to get your answer, but one question in the right thread is enough to get the answer.
