Amiibo Kiosk (commercial grade android tablet) need help installing apk - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cant for the life of me get this to install anything at all. I load the apk onto the sd card in the required name folder (or even usb) and it doesnt seem to pick up on it or understand that there is a file there. I can get into the CSR menu, but theres limited functionality. Ideally, I just want to have it like a regular tablet, play store, play music, etc. Does anyone have one of these and have any luck with it? I would really appreciate it! I believe its a DUCOS?

Figured it out, made a guide here:

Nook color and apps in marketplace....

Ive read many posts and cant find a solid solution regarding why I cannot see all the apps on the market place that would be for other phones/tabs. Also why certain games wont work on the nook... i've tried work arounds like changing the build prop to nexus , and galaxy s which just caused crashes on the nook. im running 7.1.0 rc1. any advice would help ( i want to run game loft games, etc)
The reason why we are not able to see all of the apps on the market is because the nook color was not given an imei number by b&n. This situation leaves the market guessing as to what/who your device is, and exactly what apps it should see. Unfortunately this leaves us few courses of action other than google searching "<name of app> +.apk". you'll find pretty much anything paid/free. Though I would suggest then buying any paid app you find via the markets web interface.
As far as gameloft games go, I've gotten most of them to work by finding the galaxy s or power-vr sgx installation file and matching SD files. I will admit though that it will take some fudging and messing around to get them to work properly. Again please support the developers.

I appreciate your reply. If you mind explaining what you mean by "ower-vr sgx installation file and matching SD files. " I don't mind fudging around and getting the games to work by trial and error.
The nook's gpu is a power-vr sgx, it's just the name given to the hardware line. only some games will have the option for that particular install file. For everything else, use the galaxy S or galaxy tab version.
Almost all gamesloft games require a hefty amount of storage on your sd card. 500+ megs. you'll either find said files on the net, or download it from within the game.

[Q] Gallery Directory

First of all, this is my first post, so hello everyone.
Had my S tablet since the launch weekend in the UK and I must say, it's a great piece of kit. I was in the market for a tablet, and the 'throw' feature, multi-remote, battery life, flash player and other things were what drew me to Sony rather than Apple for my first tab. I know I'm not gonna get everything out of the tablet, but that's not the point.
To the question though. I have a NAS enclosure set-up at home that'll let me access my movies and photo's etc anywhere (set-up by a friend, I just about know how to get into it LOL) I've downloaded 'AndFTP' that allows the S to access the stuff in the HDD, but I don't know what the directory for the 'Gallery' is. Can anyone tell me what the directory for the gallery is so that I can download the stuff from the HDD, thanks.
Can anyone help?
Its ok, got it sorted.

Why Don't All Apps Work?

Hey guys, so me and my best friend bought Nook Tablets yesterday after seeing all the cool things that the rooted Color could do. Weve been playing around with it, and with the help of some threads here have gotten Go Launcher and all those basic apps to work like the Amazon Store and file managers and such.
Ive also got a fun game called Zombieville USA working after many attempts. However, for some reason not every apk i try installing works, and i was wondering why that is. For example, i tried for a while to get GameBoid working so i could play GBA games. It would install, then ask me to locate a bios file, which i then downloaded and got it to recognize, but after i open the actual Rom, it would run for a second and then stop.
Other apks give parsing errors, others just dont work. My friend just successfully got Fruit Ninja to work, and thats pretty much been our achievement of the hour. Were new to android and the tablet scene for that matter, but very well acquainted with jailbroken iPod Touches.
tl;dr why cant i get every app to work? Thanks for taking the time to help
Apps that don't work
One of the reasons might be that the Nook Tablet has only a subset of the hardware the typical Android Smartphone has.
No GPS, no accelerometer, etc.
Even some of the hardware it does have, like blue tooth, has no software drivers in the stock Nook operating system.
If the application you are trying to run is dependent on one of those missing resources, it may well fail. Missing libraries might be downloadable.
Your best bet will be applications known to run on the Amazon Fire, which has a comparable feature set. Rest will be try it and see.
Alright that makes sense, thanks. Ill go look around that forum then and see what i can dig up

[Q] Side Loading an App

I read the whole section forum and people are side loading uncompatible apps, but no where does anyone explain "how to" side load an app can somenoe tell me, I have apps on my Galaxy 7in and they are not compatible with the Sony S running Android 3.2.1.
I want my Amazon app store, Pinger texting, words with friends and I have others too!
This is a new toy for me but disappointed that I cannot get these apps
Any help is appreciated!
It's easiest if you have ADB knowledge so you can pull apps from the galaxy tab and push them to the tablet s, but you can get the amazon appstore by going to amazon's website and it'll email you a link to the download. Also, I have words with friends on my tablet which I downloaded from the market no problems. Maybe with the latest tablet s update it is no longer marked as compatible, in which case we'll have to wait for the ICS update for a lot of the fragmentation problems to go away.
Put the .apk file from your Tab on your sd card, then you go into a file explorer type application on the Sony to find the file. Click on it and it should ask you if you want to install.
You should be able to download the amazon app store directly from amazon.com.
Also a nice program that will backup all your settings/files/apks is MyBackup Root, which will put all the apk's in one folder. However looks like the sony still hasn't been rooted?? I'm still waiting for mine in the mail.
Thank you
I am sure some of this is out of my league but I am going to take a shot at it. This is all new to me. I am technically challenged LOL.
I am going to go get the Amazon App Store though.
Thank you for the extra help

If you use Astro File Manager (I know plenty do) on your Tab, you can use Astro's built-in App Manager to backup the apk files from every installed app to a folder on your SD Card. Then just copy this folder to your Sony like any other file, then using Astro (or some other file manager) to click on the individual apps in that folder and choose install.
I backed it up

I really am technically challenged here, I downlaoded the Astro File system, and I backed up the programs I want but I don't know where I backed them up to, it didn't give me a choice as to where to back them up.
Then I dont know how to transfer them from one device to the other. I wasn't kidding when I said technically challenged!
Thank you
Sandy
you could also save apps on a shared drive and install from there using file manager or the same via dropbox, etc
Maybe?
Maybe one of you would be willing to walk me through this procedure from beginning to end and then I will learn it, but right now it is all a mumbo jumbo to me.
We can do it through PM if we don't want to clog up the forum or maybe there is someone else who needs the same help as myself
Thank you
Sandy
Would it not be easier to just use the normal Amazon web page rather than mess about trying to get an app to install? If it's anything like the Amazon iphone app, it's pretty useless anyway - certainly nowhere near as good as using the web page.
I should explain better
I really need to text so I need a texting program that works well with at least some options. Chompsms and Handcent do not work without a phone number and getting an answer from tech support from either of those is like pulling eye teeth,(sorry)
I found a texting program on my galaxy 7 inch that works wonderful and does have some options for larger fonts, a local phone number bubbles so you know who is talking blah blah blah, it is not compatible with Android 3.2.1 which is on my new Sony tablet,
I am trying to side load that and Have no idea what I am doing,
Plus when we get ICS does that mean some of the things that are not compatible now will be when we get that update?
thank you in advance for all the help
Sandy

Sorry for the slow reply. By default, the apps we be backed up to a folder called Backup on the SD card. In there, there should be your apk's.
Hope that helps

T301 Help?

I have a Velocity Micro T301 that i've had laying around for a while, and yes, i know, it's garbage compared to now-a-day tablets. However, I've been using it for my bass music sheets, a couple funny pictures, and a few random songs. So far, not bad. I've NEVER gotten it to load a browser without a hyper-link, google.com will force close with any browser i try. I found out that Cruze has released a fix, an update, and it requires the ADB to be installed. The main issue i'm having with all of this is that Cruze no-longer has a valid download link! it's an error!
I need a few things and I was wondering if anybody has them:
Cruze ADB
Cruze T301 Tweak Tool
Cruze T301 Android Update (I have this already, but i assume that it is way out of date)
It would be greatly appreciated if you would post for me to download them!
Thanks you!
I am also completely open to any third-party suggestions (root / install new software etc.) I have basic skills (rooted my last 2 phones and my dads with no problems).
My needs are:
1. Read PDF Files
2. Read + Edit Word / Text Documents (prefer word, but i can settle for RTF or other text formats, so long as it is compatible)
3. Browse the web
4. Works when I need it to, not when it feels like it
5. MUST be able to use SD card (not sure if that's an issue, but i use an SD card for transferring files, mainly .RFT music sheets)
I want to be able to use this at school for storing all of my required PDF files without carrying a laptop everywhere (I have to leave my backpack sometimes, and my tablet fits in my tool box, my laptop, does not)
