Xiaomi redmi note 3pro (kate) root with magisk? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello, i have a xiaomi redmi note 3pro SE 3gb ram version, i unlocked officially the bootloader and would like to root it now. Is it possible to root it with magisk? If yes could you please help me with "However, you MUST have a stock boot image dump beforehand, and also be able to flash the patched boot image, either through fastboot/download mode or ODIN" this step since i am a new to this? If root is not possible to root with magisk could you help me with the easiest root available please? Kingroot and framaroot didnt work.
Thank you in advance.

You no need to patch the boot image.. Just flash Red wolf recovery through fastboot and then flash latesg magisk via recovery... It automatically takea backup of stock boot. Img before patching...

Thank you so much for the fast reply! This can be done only with red wolf recovery or can it also be done with zcx twrp?

easiest way to root?

Hi
I've ordered the redmi note 2 and would like to install a custom rom on it when I receive it. Can somebody tell me what the easiest method to root the phone and install TWRP is? There seems to be so many different ways and I'm finding it abit confusing. Also do I need to unlock the bootloader before rooting?
Thanks

Flashed a china dev rom was an easier way without using PC. But first to need to wipe your phone. Then installed flashify to flash twrp.img. With twrp, you can flashed any compatible rom you like.
for the redmi note from the wife who only needed root I used Kingroot
And I wanted root and TWRP so I used Windroid toolkit
thanks for the replies. Windroid seems pretty straightforward, I'll give that a go once I get my phone.
You can flash xiaomi.eu latest ROM and you'll get TWRP 3.0. For root you can flash any SuperSU official zip using TWRP

you mean this one? http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-2-25.30340/
that says TWRP needs to be installed before that rom can be flashed?

Yes that one..
"Our ROMs now contains TWRP which will install it automatically and overwrite your MiRecovery (If you still use it)"
"Version 6.2.25 still can be installed via MiRecovery but it will overwrite it to TWRP"
I use xiaomi.eu ROM/Based ROM's because it has my language
ah ok, thanks mate
So I tried updating via updateer with the rom from xiaomi.eu but that failed it said something about the file signature. So I tried the windroid method, the computer picked up the device no problem and it was weorking well. I flashed TWRP and Super SU and completely wiped everything on the phone. Now I'm trying to sideload a rom using windroid, but when I go to the ADB sideload option in TWRP it just stays stuck on "starting ADB sideload feture..." Windroid seems to recognise that the device is in sideload mode but I can't flash anything as it just stays stuck.
Any ideas?
Never mind, my PC picked up the phone while it was in recovery and I was able to just copy the rom file over

Clarify whether you have already unlocked your bootloader, as you mentioned you unlocked your phone. I understood that to mean that you unlocked the bootloader.
The instructions are all over everywhere.
I too came from a Samsung so I know exactly what you think. The only thing you have to do differently is unlock the bootloader and there are clear instructions out there to do so. Flashing TWRP is about the same, so you can decide which version you wish to use. I use the standard but I started out using Cofface so perhaps you should consider using TWRP Alka or Cofface.
Flashing SuperSU is the same with TWRP as doing it on a Samsung. That isn't different.
I already download twrp 3.0.2.2 Official but how to install this twrp my device??

If I recall correctly, Sure, but you need an unlocked bootloader as well as TWRP recovery which is compiled / ported for your device.

Help with Pocophone F1 ROOT

I have a pocophone f1 which I attempted to root.
I already unlocked it using my MI account with MI unlocker on windows.
I installed TWRP 3.2, as well as SupersU.zip in TWRP.
I go and check root access using various root checker apps from playstore but i have no root access. One of them says that my supersu $Path does not contain a binary.
I tried uninstalling superSu using the supersSu uninstaller.zip in TWRP and then attempted flashing magisk, but i got the error about patched boot image. I wiped everything and then flashed stock global ROM for miui 11. Still i get the patched boot image when trying to flash magisk.
Any ideas?

Just uninstall SuperSU root and root again with magisk! There is unroot option in the SuperSU app which you have to use or:

@Silvershot
My POV: Noone needs to install TWRP to root phone's Android.

It's clear that something has gone very wrong. Instead of wasting time with troubleshooting, I recommend that you restore the phone to its original state via re-flashing its Stock ROM and when that's done retry to root its Android the proper way.
FYI: Once TWRP got installed on phone, you can't get rid off of it unless you re-flash phone's Stock ROM.

I could but I don't want to: IMO you simply didn't get it - you do anything without questioning the meaning.
Happy fiddling around with Magisk etc.pp.

You don't have to disable encryption to use magisk. Atleast I think from my experience.
This is the step-by-step tutorial.
1. Flash this global stock miui with TWRP. https://c.mi.com/in/miuidownload/detail?device=1700355 (if this is not the official ROM please correct me, there are a lot of fakes there)
2. Flash Magisk with TWRP. Download and flash it from this github repo. DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT FROM ANYWHERE ELSE!

3. Reboot

thank you. this worked. i was using older version of magisk. the latest one did the trick.

TWRP on Mi Pad 4

Hello,
I am a newbie into this.
I want to root the Pad to run some apps that require root access. The bootloader is already unlocked via the miflash unlock tool.
Next I tried to install TWRP 3.4.0.0 via using the guide from twrp.me
https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimipad4.html
I am able to load the image into recovery section and I am also able to boot into recovery straight after that in order to enter TWRP (using Vol up plus power button as the guide mentioned). But once the Android system is booted up the TWRP bootloader in the recovery section is gone/wiped whatever because the Mi boot menu appears again.
What do I miss out?
It is also recommend to perform a backup in TWRP before rooting (magisk) or flashing a custom rom. The backup fails with a couple of red line "unable to mount...".
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
You are using the stock MIUI right? MIUI will automatically revert recovery back to the stock one. You have to install a custom rom to retain TWRP.

Correct still using stock MIUI. Sadly, that means root and stock MIUI won't work at the same time.

Although I never use stock MIUI, I think you can root normally. You don't need TWRP to maintain root.
