How to unlock bootloader on Venue 1010? I found the thread for 7/8 but the above steps didn't work. I get not into bootloader menu by VolDown+Power, but into Dell BIOS.
My tablet is soft-bricked, and I can't boot into OS, only to fastboot.
Command
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
writes FAILED (remote: unknown OEM command)
Command
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
simply doesn't work.
When in fastboot mode, it shows SECURE_BOOT: Enabled, so it seems my bootloader is locked. Weirdly, I can erase partitions (system, boot), but cannot flash it. It shows error flash_cmds error.
How to unlock it?
Listen bro just try to hold power and volume down but when you see the Dell logo let go of power ...
What happens ?
If you rooted it , you used "tethered" cwm custom recovery ...
Why don't you boot the "tethered" recovery you used for root to install your backup that you dumped
Just select install .image file and install your backup you dumped that way ...
Kernel - boot
Recovery - recovery
System - system
*
Do you have a stock ROM ?
*
Use this guide to boot cwm temporarily... See if you get into this recovery to allow us to root again or flash some of your dumped images etc etc

If I press VolDown, I get into the BIOS. Usual BIOS like they have on Dell laptops.

If I press VolUp, I get into this menu
This how it runs Diagnostics
And Droidboot is a simple fastboot in terms of Dell.

Just after your words I recalled how I rooted and used this way. I rooted via thethered temporary CWM. There was no permanent recovery on the tablet.
I booted again into this CWM, repacked my IMGs into ZIP, signed them but ZIP flashing failed both for signed and unsigned.
How can I flash IMG files directly via CWM? I didn't find such option. My CWM is 6.0.3.7 version.

No, there is no stock on Dell support site. I found only kernel, but how it would help me? I assume I messed system partition, not kernel.
Thanks for you assistance a lot!
First of all, it's not clear will I be able to flash my dumped backup with locked bootloader or not? If not, then how to unlock it?
Is this a dual boot windows ?
If so you could try to install windows through a bios bootable USB
Shouldn't you turn of the secure boot in your uefi bios like in a windows PC
---------- Post added at 07:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:22 PM ----------
The correct way to install android here would be to use an android OS installable via an uefi boot USB like you would install windows with a pendrive
I don't think you are gonna flash your rooted system image through uefi bios or a locked bootloader
Some bootloaders never get unlocked period .
Uefi is a bios in which you should have an option to disable uefi secure boot and that could be it but this is more PC country than Android as I've never seen an android device with this type of bios other than on dual boot setups
In which case install windows 10 through bootable USB drive in BIOS then install android as secondary OS through windows ...,....

Too good to be true. There is no such option.
Windows is signed and you could get a uefi bootable installer quite easily ..I use twrp in which you have an option to flash images ....however you still need a UNMODIFIED image to flash
Read the original thread which or where you followed the cwm root instructions and scroll down to read about what they say about unbricking
You are up the creek without a paddle since you don't have an official stock image of your system and your bootloader is locked
As a last ditch attempt start looking at windows uefi bootable recovery USB sticks as Dell offers these ...see it it one will format the file system and put windows or Ubuntu on it ....but that will only work if you find a bios setting that turns of uefi secure boot
Good luck

Hello, I am student at my university studying Computer Science. I work in tech support at my school. This is the first time I have modified the android os. The community on xda has been really helpful and knowledgeable. I have created an account to see if anyone else has done the same thing I have. Anyway read below for my post.
I am trying to change the recovery on my phone to twrp. Let me start out by saying I rooted my phone before on build number 130 (KIW-L24,Android 5.1,EMUI 3.1,C567B130,United States, Channel-Others). I used the instructions here and it worked http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/root-kiw-l24-usa-kiwi-t3305190.
I then decided to update through the huawei updater to build number 151 (KIW-L24, Android 5.1, EMUI 3.1, C567B151, United States, Channel-Others). It eventually got to a black EMUI menu with installing 0%. So I powered it off even though it warned against it. So my phone was bricked so I followed instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/bricked-honor-5x-t3328308 and my phone worked again.
Okay so now I want to root my phone so I follow the instructions for rooting. Problem is that I can not replace the EMUI recovery with twrp recovery. I am guessing that it may be because 151 is a security update.
I use these commands on adb with the twrp_kiwi.img in my adb folder(named .android by default)
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp_kiwi.img
fastboot reboot
adb reboot recovery
So I wanted to see if I could put the old firmware back so I followed the instructions for bricked device. But the fastboot commands don't seem to do anything with the .img files.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot reboot
Yea so I am lost as to why fastboot commands arent working as it says finished and any advice would be appreciated.
Also is it possible to format the phone similar to a pc and use adb to flash the firmware back on.
I want to eventually backup my phone and put cyanogenmod on it.
... I am guessing that it may be because 151 is a security update

If your bootloader is unlocked, you should be able to flash what you want.
Have you tried reinstalling the Android device drivers on your PC?

TWRP works just fine on B151
plug in usb / Shut down the phone
boot to the bootloader (power + vol down)
open command prompt on PC
fastboot flash recovery twrp_kiwi.img
hold volume up + volume down + power till you see TWRP (about 14 seconds)
In TWRP choose reboot / recovery
Say yes to Root
recovery will reload / flash your rom
If you want to return to Stock use this >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995315154
instructions are in the zip
Ok, I'll explain the problem(s)
My mate 10 pro (BLA-L09) can boot in recovery (TWRP 3.2.1-0) and fastboot:
When I flash other recovery with the .img by recovery (like for example the stock recovery) give me error;
When I flash other recovery with the .img by fastboot (like for example the stock recovery) give me error;
When I flash ROM by .zip/UPDATE.APP give me error;
In fastboot mode I read "Phone Locked FRP unlock"
the phone has no ROM in it, wehn I boot it automatically put me to recovery;
So, My bootloader is locked and I can't unlock it beacause I can't boot the phone.
I just want to reinstall the stock ROM, have you any ideas?
thanks to all

If the FRP is unlocked, just unlock your bootloader again with your unlock code from huawei.
Or pay 4 euros and use dc unlocker.
I can't unlock bootloader 'cause dc unlocker can give me the code only when the smartphone is booted, and it hasn't a ROM mounted in..

Should have used dc-unlocker to read the bootloader code first, then unlock manually.
Now you have two options; wait for the unlock code page to get back up or use FunkyHuawei to restore your phone.
Since you don't have your bootloader unlocked you can't flash images as the partitions are protected. This causes the "Command not allowed" errors.
How did you erase/delete/remove the ROM in the first place? Anything you did before the incident?
Try to boot to erecovery... (vol + on boot w/o usb cable plugged in) Load the rescue system image over wifi. Hope it works!
I said just unlock bootloader because obviously you must alredy have the code if you have TWRP installed, that means that at some point you had it unlocked and you should have a code.
Anyway, huawei unlock page is up, so you should be able to get the code again in case you lost it. Dcunlocker gives your the data needed like imei, product id (not sure about this one) and SN in the box.
I think dc unlocker can unbrick your device (you need like 15 credits) it uses a back door to flash and unbrick. then you can get the unlock code to unlock.
Another thng you can try is flashing the BLA-Recovery no check from hwota8 directrly from TWRP (flash image) transfer it to your device through mtp or adb push.
FOR THE ASUS 3 ZOOM ZE553KL
I Found These Working Asus Service Technicians Full Stock Firmwares. They Include Files That Are Not In Asus' Website FW.
Includes The Last 7.11 Nougat Before Oreo Was Released
Info I Found About Tech Fw:
note that this firmware is different from the usual firmware by asus. It is used for servicing the phone, it restores all partition from factory except for imei, s/no, mac address etc. Google account lock is active in this firmware.
The firmware is used by asus flash tool to restore your phone partitions. If by any chance, the restore is not successful using the tool, just unzip the file and flash manually (flashall_aft.cmd)
you need this firmware if your partitions are totally corrupted (example if you cannot go into fastboot mode). Most of the time, bricked phones can be restored by flashing asus stock recovery (recovery.img), then stock asus firmware. If that doesn't solve the bricking, then you will need the raw/service firmware.

You can connect the device powered on on in fastboot mode, the important thing is that debug usb is enabled. The tool will eventually tell you that the mode is not good for what you want to do

I am planning to flash TWRP on my Mi 8 but I get a warning message saying if I don't root afterwards, my device will be bricked. Is this holding true? I want to keep my stock ROM and no root.
This tool is stale and not working anymore.
Hello, I've recently acquired this Infinix Hot 10 device, now I want to root it. I searched on Google and found some links that suggest I can (on getdroidtips) and some that suggest I can't (on newsvivs). I would share the links but I can't post links due to having a new account.
I want to know the opinions of the forum members here on these sites and whether anyone has this device and has successfully rooted it before. I also want to know if this will erase all my data. If you have any trusted rooting guides for this device please share them.
Thank you.
If you as 1st step could successfully unlock phone's bootloader, then as 2nd step you could install a Custom Recovery like TWRP suitable to the phone, then finally as 3rd step it should be possible to root phone's XOS 6.0 ( based on Android 10 ) by means of TWRP.

I can unlock the bootloader. But how do I install TWRP afterwards? Do I need a special build for the phone or is the process generic from there? If it's generic could you send me a guide?

It doesn't have a custom recovery. When I try to go to recovery manually (Vol UP + Power) it gives a black screen instantly on boot, then continues boot looping when I take my fingers off the buttons.
ADB and Fastbook fail to connect to the device in its various stages of bootlooping so I can't switch to fastboot mode.
SPFlash can't flash it, keeps giving errors. Either when it reboots during a flash attempt or it gives an authentication key error. Apparently I need an auth key to flash this device? Even though I'm using the original ROM.

As above mentioned TWRP must match phone's specs ( Android OS, etc.pp ). In case there isn't a pre-build one for your phone you can try to ask TWRP-developers to build it for you by means of TWRP Builder app.
