Hi everyone,
I've recently gotten an Xperia X which I've been using with Sailfish OS, which I've been very happy with.
Sadly I've been having what seems to be a battery issue, and so ideally I need to return it to the seller as a faulty, however as I've unlocked it and installed a new OS I'm weary of this causing awkwardness with the return.
My plan is to try and get it back to stock if possible. I'd ideally like to re-lock the bootloader but understand that I'm not supposed to be able to do this!
My problem is that I don't have any machines running Windows, so could do with a way to flash a completely stock rom that can be done via Linux. I also want to run stock for a day or so to make sure my issue isn't being caused by Sailfish (I've spoken to a few Sailfish X users and none of them have this issue so I'm not hopeful).
Can anyone advise on the best way to get my phone in a generally stock condition?

Did you made a backup TA partition? I did, and I restored and flashed Android from Sailfish OS without problems and phone is like It was never unlocked

I didn't unfortunately no. I'm not an expert at this by any means but would it be possible to find and download a full (stock) backup online and flash it? I've also been looking for stock Sony Android rom's to flash on, but with an unlocked bootloader these don't get OTA's so I'm not really sure if I'd be getting the latest and greatest.

Well... You can flash stock rom, but you won't be able to receive OTA updates, I think that there are roms based on stock roms with drm keys fix on the forum, I recommend you to search and try

I'm not overly worried about OTA updates - just getting rid of the warning on boot, to put my phone back to a completely 'stock' looking setup!
OK so it looks like the fix was far simpler than I was expecting!
I used the xperia-flashtool software, hit the BLU button (usually for bootloader unlocking) and it gave me the option to re-lock it. Job done!

So i had a custom rom on my xgo, also it was obviously rooted. I used to connect it to the usb port all the time to transfer stuff, but today i connected it to my pc and it said it has an update available, so i was like hey i kind of wanted the stock rom to be installed again, so i said sure. The update (obviously) installed stock rom, but more importantly, it removed my root. Why was that, is sony changing their minds on the rooting community?

Hello,
So this is my second Ultra, and it wont connect to WiFi, or make a visibility hotspot, it scans for networks and early finds only one and will never connect to it.
Searching the web revels this to be a common problem but nobody ever seems to have any luck fixing the problems the threads go dead or the owner gives up. Now I got my phone off eBay a few days ago so I can send it back but I like the phone, Id rather no go down the hole rooting route just yet as I am enjoying the stock feeling.
As I mentioned I had this phone before and my last one never did this.
Also there is an update pending that may fix it for all I know, but Sony been stupid wont let me download it over my mobile network and I cant use WiFi to download it, so its stuck.
Can anyone suggest anything for me to try? I have already rebooted, reset, airaplane mode, many different wireless networks with different channels and security.
Phone model : c6833
Android : 4.22
Build number: 14.1.B.1.510
Kernal : 3.4.0-perf-gde8296d-02194-ga2561a5
Thanks in advanced for any support,
Zachary
...jesus I suggest you flash the latest .ftf .108 or .118
You can do this with flashtool or with pc companion

You should start with flashing the newest stock rom. This is anyways always the manufactures first step recommendation when troubleshooting :good: And it does not void your warranty.

Yes I am doing that now with the Sony software (I completely forgot you could do that with the Sony software), and yes you are correct it wont, what I meant was if I put a custom rom / kernel on it then it would do. But I shall see how this update goes and report back if I still have troubles.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I've had no luck, I did the update via Sony software and it updated it to 4.4 kitkat and the WiFi still does not work, I then tried updating the firmware even more with flash-tool and this did not work either.
Since I can not unlock my boot-loader via Sony I can not put custom kernel or ROM on it either, although flash-tool did root the device for me, but this wont help me in the near future.
Any other ideas that I can try, is there a different way to unlock the boot-loader on these devices?
Thanks,
Zachary

Contact the seller for a solution. Either ask for a replacement or return the device.

Dear All,
I refer to this below thread for a bit of history;
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/help/restore-xperia-x-dual-f1522-to-stock-t3587368
After the success of flashing the stock rom and relocking the bootloader I tried to launch the camera but i keep getting the above message!
FYI I didn't have my TA partition backed up as well as the DRM keys thing-ies.
Any idea of what could be causing this?

I couldn't find the error message your taking about. Briefly read what u said and understood some. So youunlocked bootloader, installed custom recovery and a rom, and manged to flash to official firmware and are having problems with the camera.
As someone mentioned in that other thread you gave, when you block bootloader l, you lose the TA part ions which contains DRM, which can help camera to work as Sony wants it. The lost TA is lost likely causing issues., thus I recommend rooting to do man which have fixes for the lost DRM (not a replacement for the list ones) , so your camera will function correctly again. Be u seen you never made aback up of the TA, you've permanently lost them, even after relocking the bootloader.
P. S. I'm sure someone mentioned a similar thing to you no in the other thread.
Hope I helped u in some way.
Hey man,
Thanks for the thorough reply. So you think I have no hope of getting the camera to work while maintaining the stock firmware with locked bootloader?

That right, I think you dont have any reason to come back to stock firmware when you lost DRM key, because some rom have DRM fix like poision rom and pexorom. In addition, I am using posion rom which is really stable and fixed all your problem.
Glad to be not the only one with this problem.
But (what sucks) i cant sell my X because of this sh*t.

Why not?
I always sell my Phones rooted in Spain or Germany. Many people like to buy a pre rooted and working phone.
With Poioson rom for example, all ist working fine and stable.

Just unlock your bootloader again and camera will start working. Use FlashTool by Androxyde and Xpirifirm to update your phone when when new firmware is release.

Hello people
i just bought mate 10 and it is awesome. i have some questions though. after i got the phone i got an update, updated it and unlocked bootloader and rooted it. now i got another update. so can i unroot, and apply update or do i need to relock bootloader also? i would re-unlock and root after update. i dont want to brick it cause im broke to buy credits on funkyhuawei lol. can i restore using hisuite if it got bricked?
current version is 8.0.0.119(c185)
new version in system update is 8.0.0.126(c185)
also is there any fix for AI scene detection after root? and lastly, i cannot install v4a on it. seems like selinux is always enforcing. when i change it with selinux changer, it is set to permissive but i restart the selinux app and it is on enforcing like it was never changed. what can i do about it?
thank you.
any help will be much appreciated.
also i would like to directly flash the latest firmware. can this be done on unlocked bootloader and root? any guide pls?

Not yet, unfortunately. It seems developement for this great phone is going to be slower this time around because I think Huawei made it so it's more difficult to build a custom recovery for it. I fear that unless someone puts a bounty on some sort of custom recovery for us (TWRP) it's gonna be awhile.

Hi,
I have an Xperia X which despite being long abandoned by Sony is still as reliable as the day I got it. I'm a complete n00b when it comes to using different firmware on phones. Are there any different firmware's out there that I could install which are kept up to date or has my phone been abandoned by everybody now?
Thanks.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for my late reply.
I have looked into Sony aosp and they offer a tool to unlock the bootloader and a flash tool. My device is listed as "maintained" which is good, but what to actually flash is where I'm getting lost. I can find a software binary from May 2019 but it's only 90MB, surely that cannot be the entire Android operating system? I'm savy enough to be able to unlock and flash a single ROM file, but if I have to start "building" a ROM with a load of Linux commands then that's beyond me.
