*** XDAII Unlocking - NEW IDEA ***

Hi all
I have only just bought my XDA II but think its the muts nuts so no flames foir this newbie PLEASE
I have read many MANY threads concerening the unlocking of this new device and I just came up with an idea.
Since O2 seem to be, at best, inconsistent and, at worst, ANAL about unlocking, can we exploit the fact that they have at least released the unlock codes to a few people. I have two ideas
1) It seems that the Unlock code is IMEI deppendant so, Can someone who has been given a code publish it along with their IMEI number
then using the famous Manipulator software change the imei number in an XDA II then insert different network sim and enter the unlock code, I know this seems awfully simple but often the best ideas are. I guess you could always change the IMEI back to its original state if there were concerns about network security. I dunno what do you guys think???
2) What about if everyone who has managed to get a code publishes it to this site along with their IMEI number and then I'm sure one of the XDA Developers code reverse engineer the unlock codes and see how its related to the IMEI. I assume you could then write a KeyGen prog like people do for software keys (I mean so I heard, allegedly, Honest)
Failing that would it not be possible to write some program that acts like the modem terminal prog and just keeps entering random (or sequential codes) till the device unlocks
As I said its all new (GREEK) to me so no flames please, I'm just trying to help.
PS Anybody know about the Bluetooth issue with the XDA 2 and how to solve it and dooes it really work?
Thanks

It's about xda2unlock --> and it unlocks your device!
Unlocking XDA2 and the bluetooth problem are all in the forum. By the way, messing with the imei number on a phone here in the UK can get a person jailed for 5 years and or a huge fine.

Just unlocked my phone!

I just want to post this to help debunk myths, prevent people from paying unnecessary fees and to inform you all how easy this process was.
My cell phone carrier is T-Mobile, USA. Last night, roughly 9 hours prior to writing this, I called T-Mobile's customer service line from my home phone (this is important because if you call from your cell phone you will just get stuck talking to their automated system). I had made a point to write down my IMEI number and my phone's serial number prior to calling. After waiting on hold for just a few minutes, I asked the customer service representative for my SIM unlock code. He informed me that he could not provide it for me over the phone but the request would be processed and the SIM Unlock department would email within 72 hours. He took down my information; IMEI, Serial Number, Phone Number, Make & Model of phone and my email address.
Just a few minutes ago, I received the email from the SIM Unlock department as promised.
In order to unlock my phone I had to flash back to the stock firmware. I'm currently running Mik's CM7 and I can confirm that you can not unlock your phone from this custom firmware.
The instructions that T-Mobile provided to bring up the network unlock dialogue was incorrect but that's okay, I knew how to do what I needed to do.
in the phone app, dial
Code:
2945#*509#
replacing '509' with whatever model number your particular phone is. Then I entered in the 16 digit unlock code that T-Mobile emailed to me. As soon as I entered the code, a message popped up saying "Network Unlocked". I clicked on okay, and then I panicked for a second when the phone seemed to freeze. This is normal though, the phone should reboot. After rebooting, I saw that all was well.
I just flashed back to CM7, and a friend of mine is on the way over. I will swap out my SIM card for theirs to test whether this works on CM7, but someone elsewhere on the forums has already confirmed that the network unlock was successful and carries over to custom firmware as well.
Unless your particular cell phone provider is for some reason unable to provide you with your unlock code, don't bother trying to buy an unlock code off of ebay. This code should be available to you for free.

Country based carrier unlock (Now you can use your phone with any sim at any place)

If you know this simple procedure then call me a noob
I got a HTC legend from UK which was locked with the Vodafone carrier and was not working here in Pakistan, so i did some searching on getting an unlock code to unlock it but it was costing me money ( Some inner-cheapness stopped me from paying ). But I found an easy way to unlock and use it anywhere in the country.
Steps:
1) Use a phone which is local bought and is already unlocked.
2) Put in a sim card and put up a sim card lock/PIN Code ( usually '0000' because it's easier to remember).
3) Put it in the carrier locked phone and start the phone.
4) When the phone asks for the Sim card/PIN unlock code, enter it and Voila!
5) If this was helpful then don't forget to hit the Thanks button
You sir have earned your first thanks.
I wish I could test this though. If I had an extra AT&T (second biggest carrier in America) phone I would set up a sim lock code on my unlocked AT&T S3, and try it out! Samdung phones are easy to unlock though Samsung thinks people don't know about the dialer exploit where you go into the menus and find "NV DATA LOCK INITIALIZE".
On the One S there is a guide as well. It involves using terminal, entering a code that shows the IMEI and NV LOCK code, flipping and then adding the number. If this is a universal way looks like we figured it out lol.
Phone unlockers shouldn't be charging so much for unlocking phones, especially if it's illegal in some ways now.

Yeah I've heard about the Samsung thing, but never tried it on there because i've never got a locked samsung phone. The terminal seems to be a bit difficult for some people ( especially me ) but I guess this thing works on all HTC phones because of the manufacturer thing maybe, not sure about xperia or sony phones though, Will try it if i get my hands on one.
P.S Thanks for the First Thanks appreciate it

Moto G XT2041-DL - Where to enter unlock code?

I have the tracfone version of the phone and when I put in another carrier's SIM, it doesn't ask for an unlock code?
I bought one of these used, and it was initially asking for the unlock code, sadly it was also asking for a regular password to use the phone so I had to do a factory reset to get in, after that it stopped asking for the unlock code, still carrier locked though. If you figure out how to get that screen back let me know, and while you're at it where you got the unlock code from, most sites that claim to carrier unlock phones look sketchy as hell.

Question nokia x100 screen lock help

i got this phone said to be unlocked and in good working condition and it has a screen lock and i'm stuck unless there is a way to get the screen lock figured out. but in the meantime how do i find out exactly the model of this phone with the imei or serial number that shows in the power button and vol dn long press and the bootloader show with a serial number in that screen? the phone was sold as a metro pcs unlocked phone and i can't be sure it is a metro phone. but aside form that if i can determine the exact model i will just get another one from a rated ebay seller and take out the motherboard and put that in this phone. this phone is in perfect shape on the outside so i just as soon use this one for the main phone and the other one as the donor for the guts. providing i can't get this oen to unlock.
i did do a search and came across a YT that had a so-called way to unlock it and i Instagrammed those people he said to contact and they asked for the imei and said pay money and they will unlock it. they told me that had the phone on their system now and were ready for money. The phone was off-setting on the table so i do not see how they were connected to the phone to unlock it. so that is a big scam for sure.
aside from that scam, i need help to make sure i order the correct phone off ebay so i have a good unlocked motherboard to put into this phone and get it to work. so can anyone lend a hand here?
i even tried to download adb and fastboot and that did not open and run on my pc the pc will not see the phone when it is plugged in so it will be about impossible to work it from the pc if the pc can't see it.
that is why i just figure gutting it out and installing another mother unlocked motherboard that i see working and connected to my account before i take the guts out and transfer to this phone.
thanks
