Hey guys,
I recently switched to a GS8 from an iPhone 7 and one of my favourite case for it was the saddle brown Apple Leather case. I'd love to get something similar for the GS8. Any suggestions?

Maybe you should look at the official alcantara case. It's not to everyone's taste, but I've had it since it came out and I'm loving it.
At first it creaked a little until it settled. Now it feels both solid and plush, with a tight fit as if it's part of the phone.
Just love the solid (and padded) "thud" it makes when you "drop" it on a table.
It's pretty sleek, even though it doesn't look like it in pictures, and also surprisingly durable.
The fingerprint sensor separated cutout is also great. I find it hard to go back to a case without it, or even go back to a naked phone.
Alot of people would disagree with my on this case, so take it with a grain of salt, but these are just my 2 cents on the matter.

Fortunately I already have the Alcantara case in dark grey color and its great like you described, been using it for a month now. But it's still no leather. The way leather feels and forms a patina over time really makes it stand out and unique which makes it more personalized.

Yeah. I get where you're coming from. Would love a cognac full leather case in the same shape /size as the alcantara case. (saw that combo on someone's iPhone awhile back)
Unfortunately I have yet to see something like that for the s8.

I have ordered this one in brown. My cousin has same case for his iPhone 5s and it looked good.
I can comment about the quality and aesthetics once it is delivered (within next 7-10days).
If you can, then wait until then.

Lol! Thanks man now that's a case worth getting. Its great and all with the exception of the side volume rocker and power buttons exposed but it's close enough for me. Ill keep looking but if i don't find something better, this would be my next purchase.

Looks good but it's still PU not real leather. With my kind of job that case won't last a whole day without getting shredded.

No problem, mate.
Also I totally agree on the cutouts for the buttons.
Do me a solid, would you? If you end up getting it, would you mind posting pics? Curious what it's like in real life.
Oh and what color do you plan on getting?

Otterbox Strada.
Real Leather, solid all buttons covered and it works great.
Just put a metal plate on the front so I could use both magnetic holder in car and wireless charging.

I got another case and a bit bored, so might as well post pictures of this if anyone out there was curious about clear cases on this phone. It's been a very long time since I had a clear case, but I thought it would look well with the white Note 3. I actually like it. For now until it gets dirty. I like it better than the Spigen Bounce case. Both do feel different in the hand because the Bounce case has a fully matte texture. Both are slim.
Pros
- Border/Bumper is TPU
- Back side is hard poly carbonate/plastic
- Holes/ports match up
- Buttons are easy to press
- Looks good on white (I don't have a black one to check out)
Cons
- Back side can get scratched
- If it gets dirty inside the case, it'll show.
- If your phone is dirty, it'll show.
I got it on Amazon, just copy the title of this topic and search it there.
EDIT:
I'll just post a link, might as well.

Thanks for the pics. I tried going without a case for a few hours today because I like the look so much but I was afraid I'd drop the phone. This may fit the bill.
Edit: Hm, I could only find the black and clear but it's unavailable. OP how much was it?

Thanks. I agree about the scratches. I already see some because I was spinning the case when trying to take pictures, but if you have a white phone, it's hard to spot unless you're under direct light or there's a lot of scratches in one area. It's probably easier to see with the black version.
Just got mine yesterday also. I agree with the OP review and will say the case is better than I expected for $10. Samsung makes a case very simaler to this one for Note 2, S4, etc. It's a little bit better, waiting for the Note 3 version to eventually come out...
I almost got that one cuz I want to be able to see the phone but opted for a gel one, should be here in a day or two and we can compare em.

I got this last Thursday and I am glad I did when I went to best buy Friday to get the note 3 they had zero cases. It's a nice case and shows off the back very nicely.
damn pretty much exactly what im looking for but shows unavailable
i ordered mine earlier in the week. out for delivery today hope its nice!!
Well, this case is back in stock, but the prices has been raised unfortunately. I don't think any TPU type of case is worth over $10 unless there are designs on it, but that's just my opinion.
This case isnt that great returned it after, a day the back was scratched . Nice idea poor design or material

Get the one I got for 3 dollars shipped and delivered in 3 days, been using it for a couple of days now and haven't even thought of putting my Caseology back on. I totally forget there is a case on it and can appreciate the looks of the phone plus this is tpu and won't scratch and it is not flimsy in the least. The sell counter on Ebay says its sold close to 500 cases, good to see so many Note 3 owners taking advantage of a good deal.
I just realized it comes in four colors too.

Any clear case will be scratched (I'm not talking about matte frosted cases). There's none that's scratch resistant.

Yup, I figure better the case than the phone! Plus these things are so cheap, if it starts looking really bad after a few months, just throw it away and get something else.
I got the one with the black around it. I like it.

I got one and like it. Nice fit, holes line up for all ports, low profile. I did look closely and notice some very light scratches on the clear back. Guess I'll try something else when the scratches become too visible.
Update: my Luvvitt case looked so scratched up that I ditched it and got a Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case. I've been *really* happy with the Diztronic - great design, lightweight, holds up great, no scratches or marks, and has protected my phone on the few occasions when I dropped it.
I love clear tpu type cases but I find most of them turn yellow after a while so I have to keep buying them.

Always seemed to me that the cards would damage the screen.
It's hard to find a decent one, most have magnetic closures which suck.. Spigen did the Valentinus for the note 2 which had a snap closure and was a nice case as well. Hopefully they will remake it for the note 3 in time.

storyleather has nice ones.
I can't send links. I am a newbee
I bought this Cellto Wallet Case when it was $1.99, just got it last night. The screen protector included with it was complete garbage. The quality of the case appears decent but after careful inspection I've decided that it will not hold up very long unless it is used gently. The only thing I place in the billfold is a micro-fiber cloth, no cards... That wouldn't be a good idea without a sufficient screen protector.
If I get one, I want it to be a nice leather finish with no clasp (looks like a woman's purse).

I got the brown version last night, used it today for the first time, it's nice for $14, I did cut out the top of the plastic shell that holds the phone to the case that covers the buttons, I couldn't reliably trigger the volume and power buttons, trimming the plastic worked perfectly to allow reliable access to the buttons.
Am hoping the case ages well, and looks good as it breaks in, it looks great now, supposedly they're made out of lambskin leather.
I like it...I don't mind paying $59 for it. definitely the style that I like, BUT I prefer a black color

Tridea also has this http://tridea.co.kr/html_12/product/product_02/01.html [includes window and no latch (magnetic)]
Doesn't look like the Tireda cases will hold more than 1 card without preventing the magnetic cover from closing..
I got the Poetic Flipbook off of amazon. Feels nice and has an elastic band to hold it close. Has 3 card slots and room for some loose money or notes or whatever else you may slip in. It was a little over $11 after shipping

Cruzerlite Bugdroid Case [pics and video]
Cruzerlite has been one of my favorite case companies for Android devices. When I used my Galaxy S3 and S4 as my daily driver device I always ended up using a Cruzerlite case for my case daily driver. Specifically I used the Android green A2 case for the GS3 and the Android Clone Army for the GS4. The design is simple but it looks good and thin. The same great designs are now available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
What I like about Cruzerlite cases is that they are thin, smooth, pocketable and look great. TPU material is actually very durable. So you will be protected against scrapes, scratches and bumps. The case is raised above the screen so you have the option to place the phone face down without worry of screen damage. The case will protect against most drops. The installation is very easy and all ports/buttons are fully accessible. The Androidified case also has some extra grip on the sides that will help reduce the chances of the dreadful drops.
The green Bugdroid case looks really cool. The outline of the Andy logo stand out and the circuit board design really brings out the Android pride. Personally I like the green color and I think it looks cool on the white Note 3. One of my favorite designs Cruzerlite has is the Circuit Androidified case lineup.

well mine just came.... fits nice but not perfect.. its ok.. i tried to realign it and pop it out and back in and you can still see the bezel on top/bottom pop out a bit just like the pic on the web site ..we get what we pay for.. its pretty slim thin i like it but my spigen is a tank of a case i seem to like it more even it has a more bulk to it. i still like the case.. i did notice it dont have a cut out hole the the right bottom corner next to the S-Pen as you can see..
also theres like a black dot or something on the back i tried to wash it but seems like it was caked/baked in the case.. should i contact them about it and the no hole for the what i think its the mic hole next to the S-PEN corner?

nice to know that.. i thought i had a defect one or something.. ill let you guys know whats up..
I finally talked a co-worker into buying a real phone, he went all out and got a Note 3. He ordered a blue Otterbox Defender and I cringed because I had read more than a few negative comments about it, never mind the fact that it was going to turn an already monstrous phone into something comical in girth and usability.
Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. I was downright shocked at how svelte the case was, and it is awesome in every way that counts. It looks good, it feels good, the buttons work perfectly, and it is some nice soft protection on the corners. I was dropping it onto a table onto a corner from about six inches up and it was just a very nice 'boing' when it hit (my co-worker did not share my enthusiasm for this part of the testing). Probably the most amazing thing of all is that it really feels good to use the screen. Yes, if you scrutinize you could see a faint rainbow effect under the wrong lights (like a lot of florescents), but it felt great. The screen cover on my iphone 4 otterbox was a joke, it ruined the feeling of the phone.
I don't even run with a case (I use Gelaskins, which are even more ridiculously slippery than my Note 2 already is), but if I jump ship to a Note 3 I would buy an Otterbox Defender in a heartbeat. I was downright amazed at how good it felt and looked.

Wait, you're saying that you talked them into buying a real phone, AND then that you had/have an iPhone 4, IN THE SAME STORY!?!? Fortunately you mention having a Note 2 now! Was this co-worker the one who talked you into buying a real phone? Lol

So you expected a quality screen cover for a phone that was a joke?? Your statement confuses me

FYI if people wanted a link to it. I'm content with the S-view and I have insurance on my phone so if I break it, $50 for a new one. It's cool.

Otter box and Svelte do not go together.

I'm on Verizon and I pay $9.99/month with a $100 deductible that covers virtually everything...malfunction/defect, damage, loss, or theft. I've been a Verizon customer for 12+ years now. Never have had any real issues with them concerning insurance claims, etc. We've had to file a few different claims over all these years and haven't really had any problems out of the whole "process" thus far. I remain satisfied and content, even if Verizon IS one of the last carriers to push out official OTA updates. Oh well, there's more to choosing a carrier than just how fast they get OTA updates to their customers. Yea, it's probably nice to get em a lot quicker like some other carriers are able to do, but I'm usually not too concerned about all that, so I'm still a happy camper either way.
just buy one
i buy the middle price ,use very nice and look like original, save money
I have this case and the design is much slimmer than the my note 2 Otterbox defender case!
It's not thick at all so Otterbox and svelte actually goes together in this case (no pun intended).....

I use an Otterbox commuter and it is surprisingly svelte compared to the amount of protection it affords. Otterbox really improved things a lot since the Note 2. The previous generation of cases were write awful.

I love my Black Otterbox Case w/clip.....I always take the screen protector off and scratch off the glue it uses to hold in place. The phone is of course bigger with this case but not as big as the Note 2 case was.
Very happy with the purchase. It has probably saved my phone a couple of times due to dropping.
This case really protects it. Even without the thick screen protector.

Really? how so? I had a white commuter on my Note 2 and I thought it was a great case all around other then I was unhappy when the soft material started to bow outwards from the case and it looked kinda stupid but I now have a Note 3 and I didn't want the bulk of the commuter case like I had with my Note 2 and so i'm trying out Spigen cases instead.

Ribs on Note 2 case or Note 3?
Edit: Oh yeah, those. Never bothered me personally. I was just wanting something slicker then the bulky commuter but these spigen cases feel so flimsy and non protective compared to the otterbox's now. I think i've spent well over $100 at Amazon trying out cases this week, thank God for free amazon prime trial for included 2 day shipping.
So I bought 1 of these off Etsy. Called a Begoos
https://www.etsy.com/shop/Begoos
The person who makes them is from Lativa... Takes about 2 weeks to get but it is first class if you are looking for a pocket pouch.. she can do different colors and setups with straps, etc. Plus it fits my Nexus 6 even with my Spigen Slim Fit Case, no problem... Pretty Awesome.:good:
Thx looks good

Does the phone slips out easily from the pouch? But not too easily that it slips out accidentally.
i posted about this in another thread, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57285596&postcount=42
i got one from linda a week after i got the launch day nex 6. it really is a wonderful pouch, for those who dont want a case. its hand made from the hands of a pretty lady and came with a handwritten note.
i put the qi stone+ in the front pouch to wireless charge on the go. perfect solution.
the phone does slip out very easily and the flap has a magnet to hold it over the opening.
defintely a recommend.
Different Types!!
She makes different types as well... some with the magnetic flap, some without, some with an extra pocket, some without... very versatile plus you pick you colors as well... I like it a lot. I personally hate a real tight not loose pocket pouch. With tight ones, I have experienced what I call the CLEAN JERK which is when you struggle to pull it out then it just suddenly release then the phone goes flying... with this one I can invert and the phone slides out... Thats my preference, may not be yours:fingers-crossed:
I'm gonna get the one with the magnet latch. Thanks!
Just got my pouch in from Linda today. I was expecting good things but my word: this thing is incredible. I thought the jean material would be kinda stiff, but it's super soft. It's almost as soft as the felt material inside. It fits my Nexus perfectly and has already gotten complements.

Yes. It comes in and out so smoothly, but the latch keeps it in no problem. I held and shook it upside down to test with no issues. Also, the magnet is strong enough to keep it shut but doesn't stick as it is really tiny.

Too bad there no real leather nexus logo pouches?
