Pixel Buds "Live Translate" feature on Nexus 6p - Nexus 6P General

For anyone curious. Currently Google only officially supports Pixel and Pixel 2 phone models for their Pixel Buds fancy new "live translate" feature.
Well F that. They originally stated that as long as you had the right assistant version full features would be enabled. Nexus 6p certainly has that.
Luckily this limit is entirely artificial! The old google assistant trick works just the same here. I'm not sure what version of assistant and Android it requires, but I tested it with Android 8.1 DP1 (angler-opp5.170921.005)
To apply I used stangri's Google Assistant Enabler Magisk mod with the system.prop model change to "pixel" added back in. I had to wipe cache/Dalvik and re-pair the buds after, but then it was golden.

Google Certifications?

I am looking to pick up a prob7 however with the recent device blocking I need to be sure of google certification. Google’s official list includes all variants of the Pro 7 family, however i’ve seen zero proof from the actual device. Can anyone confirm whether the device is certified in the play store. Also, which rom variants are certified? Do I need the G rom or is the A rom also certified? I am
Maybe new devices will be approved or you need to wait for a system update.

What do you mean by Google certification? Are you interested if this phone would run Google Play, services and the whole suite of Google apps? It does.
G Rom has Google built in and every Google thing works as expected.
A Rom comes Google free, but you can install Google Store and all other Google things easily (by apk).

Nearby Sharing? Hype!!

So apparently I just got the Nearby Share feature (AKA AirDrop for Android).
I woke up, and scrolled down to see that there's a new button for quick toggles. I scroll and I'm shocked to see that the new button is Nearby Share.
It looks odd, however. Its design looks taken straight from a Google Pixel device or any other stock Android rom, very unlike OneUI.
What's even weirder is that Note8 software support was discontinued! As far as I'm aware, the Note8 will never receive another feature update, incl. OneUI 2.
I do remember trying to install some kind of early beta APK for Nearby Share about 6 months ago it seems, but I'm pretty sure it either didn't install at all, or just didn't work, and I uninstalled it. And I go to check now and it appears as a system app!
Info for nerds:
Model: SM-950F
Filmware/ROM: Stock OneUI 1.0 on 9.0 Pie | Israel ROM no-carrier
Not rooted, not Knox tripped, no core modifications.
Couldn't test the feature due to COVID-19 and not having any other phone with this feature, although I'm confident it will work.
Also tested to see if it's available on my A10. Nope, nothing.
Any idea why I have the feature? Did Google release it? What happened?
I believe the Samsung made version in One UI 2/2.1 is called Quick Share...
Google was also about to release a version too and you might have the Android version, not the Samsung One UI 2/2.1 version...

Question Alexa support

How to use hands free alexa in oneplus nord2
Android phones including the OnePlus Nord2 come inbuilt Google Assistant, not Alexa. Android is owned by google, hence why Android phones use google services by default, such as the google play store and in this case, Google Assistant.
Set up google assistant. From the settings page, click the search icon top right, type in google assistant. It's also part of the phones setup process when you first unlock a factory reset/fresh phone.
If you however, MUST use Alexa instead, which is Amazon shopping's assistant, then you can consider buying an Alexa product such as the fairly popular Amazon Echo smart speaker, or download and install the Alexa app which might not work with all phones. If you download the app, you can then go into android setting and set Alexa as your default assistant, replacing Google Assistant.
Personally, I think Alexa is pretty terrible unless you're always using it to buy things off of Amazon, or using it to control some of the Amazon specific smart lighting systems and already have a lot of Amazonecossytem gadgets.
If you're simply looking to do simple searches, google for simple questions, and simple phones tasks like handsfree calling and texting, I would recommend sticking with Google Assistant; But opinoins may vary.
Either way, setting up one of the assistants should be very easy to do. It's legit in the setup process for the first time you start up the phone.
