[N950U] ROM customization
As Title suggest this thread is to look possibilities of ROM development for N950U (snapdragon)
As we know N950U have locked bootloader and no custom recovery but still we can try for similar changes to ROM which offers for exynos variant
I don't own this device so can't test anything myself, If you guys ready to test we can move on to ROM customization further
Starting from basic need of customization, we need Busybox
Here a application N950U Busybox. Try it and report back.
How to test
Requirements :
- N950U with root access
Install :
- Download and Install attached N950U_Busybox_1.0.apk as regular apk
- Open from drawer - Grant SU
- Check for Busybox status
- If you don't have busybox installed, you will see - Long press to install busybox as status
- Long press there and wait till toast notification appear (usually take 30-40 sec) "busybox installed Reboot device"
- Reboot device and again open app and see if Busybox showing installed

Busybox installed, ready to test.

Are you sure on first opening it was not installed and after long pressing +reboot installed it?

As a heads up to you. The snapdragon model can do most modifications that do not touch the boot.img. Some things like xposed do not work though. Something to do with the way it calls the libraries.

I installed your busybox app for Turkey_Volte_Fix.

Using the same method to flash that modified root system image. You could theoretically flash any custom image.

Im in for testing too....

I was thinking that same thing! As long as we use a firmware thats before the patch issued by Samsung then we should be able to use the same method used in SamFail to flash modified system images.

Hi guys, stumbled across this thread looking for something else. Every mod i have tried has been successful on the Snapdragon variants, I have an app in the T-Mobile section that adds audio mods, 3minit mods, clock positions, bixby reassign, navbar color. Im not sure on whether Flashfire is an option as i never went down that road, i simply have rom control running scripts to place modified files.

I'm here for the testing also

[Kernel/Root] Root for the SM-A700F LL

Root method for lollipop for the SM-A700F THIS WILL TRIP KNOX. If you don't want to trip knox don't use this. If you do use it and whine you tripped knox because you didn't read ,we will all point and laugh at you.
Named it TrapKernel because well its not my normal HispAsian Kernel and I listened to a crap ton of Trap Music while doing it.
Thanks to @g.lewarne and his root method with his Unibase and Unikernel for the s6 , we finally have root after I ported it over to us. So be sure to thank him for his work.
What's included:
Auto installation of root and busy box
Kernel set to permissive
Otherwise stock
So here's the deal. Stupid simple.
1. Put Phone in Download mode
2. Open Odin
3. Connect Phone
4. Put Kernel in AP Slot
5.Flash it
6. Reboot and profit
Notes:
Download SuperSu from the Playstore. Its not included.
If at first it doesnt boot, hold the power button til it shuts off and reboot.
To fix wifi passwords= Open build.prop and change ro.securestorage=true to ro.securestorage=false
Download
Do NOT mirror this link. Period.
TrapKernel SM-A700F
Special thanks to:
@g.lewarne for the obvious reason of being awesome and his root method for the s6.
@XperiaNoobie & @nino64 for testing
@Chainfire for SuperSU

Heres the source with it set to permissive if anyone wants to fork it and build a kernel that allows root.

Hey after some research i found out that when your SE is set to permissive you lose the privilege of the private mode as it suggests that your phone isn't safe :/ You can use third-party apps so you can lock your apps though :/
Hi,
Just rooted my Phone. Working like a charm.
But is there a way to remove the Knox nonsense completely? Getting messages from security center or whatever.
Can that sh*t be removed completely?

I used System App Remover Root. There you can delete root apps.
I delete Smart Manager, and you also have to delete Security Log thing. Otherwise you will keep getting messages.
Now I only need to find out if I can just delete Knox stuff too whats in there.

The application is attached.
Changelog:
V3.3
-Improved installer by writing main application directly to /system/ instead of extracting to storage and then moving it.
-Added installation support on marshmallow
V3.2
-Added dynamic installation which will help this application get installed on many devices without any problems
-Added support for jellybean and kitkat devices.
-Should work on Note 2, 3, 4 and 5 and other S-Pen devices now without any problems (all variants, only N910F note 4 variant was tested, please give feedback)
V3.1
-Rewrote the installer. Installer is much more reliable now.
-Rewrote the service from scratch up. No notification, and uses very little power since it only runs when the pen state changes.
-Removed Learning/Static modes because I thought they were redundant.

I'm glad you like it. There is no known way to detect when an application is opened, which means that the only way to do this is to periodically check for the foreground application (every 5 seconds for example), which would make the application drain too much battery for my liking.
I'll look into it further (maybe there's a way to detect application launch using root), but I can't make any promises.

Yes, it asked me about root privileges and I allowed it on first launch.
I can't delete application data because this button is inactive in a application manager...
Supersu checked, everything is ok.
Is the app compatible with Marshmallow? I can't test it yet, I'm waiting to root because of knox and warranty
It does not work with Note 5 - 6.0.1, I downloaded it from Play Store, run and install, then reboot my phone. After that I run the app again and it still asks me to install.
I will very soon work on a fix for both Jellybean and Marshmallow versions. Sorry for the late reply but was extremely busy.

I'm such an idiot. I rooted for your app alone and didn't find this thread until afterward. I have a Note 5 on 6.0.1. Has there been any progress? I'd gladly buy the app. Thanks.
EDIT- Once you click Install, only a fraction of a second passes and it says to reboot. There is no way enough time passes to actually install anything.

[TUTO] xposed on ODEX rom; yes it's possible now! (and with knox 0x0 too!)

You don't need to do the complicated process of deodexing your ROM yourself or installing a deodexed Android 5.0 Touchwiz ROM any more prior to installing xposed on our A-series now!
I am however not responsible if you brick your phone; please know the risks of continuing.
Note: this is for Samsung 5.0 Touchwiz only as based on arter97's thread [UNOFFICIAL] Xposed for Samsung Lollipop by arter97!
For 5.1 & 6 please go to Wanam's thread [UNOFFICIAL][5.1.1/6]Xposed for Samsung Lollipop/Marshmallow.
For non Samsung Touchwiz, go to rovo89's thread [OFFICIAL] Xposed for Lollipop/Marshmallow [Android 5.0/5.1/6.0].
For older versions I have no clue, please search the xposed general section.
Warning, this installation needs like 500MB on your system partition to do the conversion (below installation overwrites the system Odex files etc).
Debloat your system partition if necessary! This is really important, otherwise you'll end up in a boot loop!
You can do this with for example GS4 Lollipop Debloat which also works on our devices and SD Maid (thanks to Twiq for this tip in his post)
Debloating is now optional thanks to dkcldark, but it still doesn't harm to clear up some space and get rid of some apps you don't need.
As always, backup everything first, and you might want to have your original ROM zip ready to flash with Odin just in case of.
There is 2 possibilities to get it, one if you don't mind knox counter going up and another one if you want it to stay at 0x0.
Option 1:
knox 0x1, warranty void
This is the easiest one.
Root your device if you haven't done already. Kingroot works great!
If you haven't installed a custom recovery, do so; search the General section of our devices forum to search the TWRP that fits your particular device. Note: I've read that TWRP 3 might cause some issues, so might be better to have version 2. This was at the time of writing; issues might be solved by the time you read this.
Install the xposed installer from this thread. I used XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk.
Flash xposed bridge from this post through your custom recovery (make sure you have enough space on your system partition, see above). At the moment of writing it was xposed-v79-samsung-test.zip dkcldark's update to v85; download his .zip file from his post here to your phone. This one isn't yet mentioned in the OP as it's a test version.
Clean cache & dalvik.
Reboot. First reboot may take a while.
But after that, xposed is installed!
If everything worked, please report back to arter97's post with a screenshot of Xposed Installer -> Framework with your model number and firmware version as described in his post. And while you're there, buy him a beer! This will benefit future development.
Option 2:
knox 0x0, warranty ok
This one is a bit more complicated as it won't use a custom recovery (which triggers knox).
Root your device if you haven't done already. Kingroot works great!
But Kingroot can't work together with an app we need below, FlashFire, so we need to transform it to SuperSU. Install Super-Sume Pro from Play Store.
Follow on screen instructions of Super-Sume Pro to get SuperSU working.
Mr.W0lf has an alternative option to replace Kingroot by SuperSU through Terminal Emulator here and here (I haven't tested this myself though, so read the complete thread and do research!).
Install the xposed installer from this thread. I used XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha4.apk.
Install FlashFire from Play Store
As FlashFire has some issues with setting permissions of the odex files from the test version of arter97 right, MatrixDJ96 has created a zip which sets the permissions right in this post. Download this xposed-v79-samsung-test-matrixdj96.zip on your phone. dkcldark created an update to v85 with MatrixDJ96's FlashFire fix included; download his .zip file from his post here to your phone.
Open FlashFire, click on the "+"sign, select Flash ZIP or OTA and select the zip file you just downloaded. Continue in next screen; click the "+"sign again and select Wipe. Only select Dalvik cache and Cache partition here and continue.
Go to the bottom of the screen and click on the big Flash button (make sure you have enough space on your system partition, see above).
FlashFire will reboot the phone and start doing it's magic; this might take a while, and first boot too.
But after that, xposed is installed! And you still have your waranty on your phone!
If everything worked, please report back to arter97's post with a screenshot of Xposed Installer -> Framework with your model number and firmware version as described in his post. And while you're there, buy him a beer! This will benefit future development.

Just a suggestion tho, there will be some people who haven't upgraded to lollipop, and maybe (unlikely now, but maybe) some already upgraded to 5.1.x/above. They will ask you whether these steps could be used on their setup or not, i think you should anticipate that too

Hi.
Given that SuperSUME is now costing 4,50€ (which seems excessive for me, 1/2$ would be acceptable) do you know if using the alternate metod consisting on using a terminal emulator and a zip file to convert Kingroot to SuperSU would trip Knox?

AFAIK you wont trip knox as long as you don't change your recovery or kernel..
How can one know exactly how much free space there's on system partition to check if I need to debloat or not?
EDIT: Found out. Thanks anyway.
Took a gamble with about 300MB free on System and no problem
Just to report that it worked perfectly.

Yes indeed, but I think that method also trips knox so you could also install a custom recovery and go with option 1.
I prefer not to trip it and keep my warranty, thus option 2 with kingroot, but that's my personal preference.

Mini Patch for B380/B360

Hey, it's a small patch for Honor 8
-it (should) make better battery life
-better performance and ram managament
-more space by removing some bloatware
-add 'double tap to wake/lock' function and option in settings
-host file added for ad blocking
-some build prop tweaks
its a zip package to flash by twrp, tell if you feel any difference and will be nice to see screenshots of benchmark before and after.
I DONT FORCE YOU TO TEST IT, YOU CAN DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
ITS FOR HONOR 8 FRD-L09, ANDROID 7 - B380, BUT SHOULD WORK ON B360

because i will test it in free days, now i'll have many work and i need my phone fully working, it does not mean that patch is corrupted or something just my h8 is not rooted yet and im waiting to do it in weekend.
i make this patch and share it here, thats all.
its safe, because i just modified some xml's, build.prop and added patched host file and scripts to removing bloatware.
PS IF any problem, uninstaller is here: link

Hey, anyone to test my patch?
i wanted to:
-make better battery life
-better performance and ram managament
-more space by removing some bloatware
-add 'double tap to wake' function and option in settings
-host file added for ad blocking
-some build prop tweaks
its a zip package to flash by twrp, tell if you feel any difference and will be nice to see screenshots of benchmark before and after.
I DONT FORCE YOU TO TEST IT, YOU CAN DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
ITS FOR HONOR 8 FRD-L09, ANDROID 7 - B380, BUT SHOULD WORK ON B360
any problem? uninstaller is here: link

Phone is booting and running. Will report back after testing a few hours.
Double tap to sleep is working but not to wake up. Great work anyway it's also useful

Thank you guys for response.
If you will make some new benchmark will be nice if you will compare it to old tests. And something about battery life.
Thanks again.
Ps new option of double tap to lock or wake should be in Settings –> Smart Assistance –> Motion Control.

Yes of course will test how it will last the day tomorrow. Today I only got around 3h SOT.
The 90764 is without mod.
Used AnTuTu Benchmark
To me the figures are pretty much the same.
I rarely rely on benchmark figures and a slightly lower result doesn't bother me. I definitely can't tell any difference when using the phone.
The "without" is from after flashing restore-zip. Forgot to do benchmark before flashing the mod. Shouldn't make any difference. Right?
I had already removed the bloat myself so I can't tell if any apps were/would be removed.
Also with mod

I'm not a developer so my knowledge is limited?
Maybe @hackslash can help with that
Thank You
I flashed it ... double tap appear in motion control but unfortunately not work to wake up (turn screen on) just work on locked screen to turn it off.

DT2W works on I believe the Mate 8, but I'm not sure which touchscreen panel they use. Cypress and Synaptics are the ones that are common, the Honor 8 uses Huawei's own model and drivers. If you pull up the FRD kernel source on GitHub you can see the code.
hey Sir, it'll works only if I have TWRP on my phone? It means I need my phone rooted?

Yes, exactly.
Ps, guys, what about Endomondo app for example? Is it better? Battery life is better now or the same? Thank you for all answers. Nice to see you test it, as i see it works.

(MOD) Center Clock Mod - Magisk Module - Android 11

Hi all,
One of the things that was missing for me was the center clock.
The void in the middle needed to be filled so here you have a module to place the clock smack in the middle, it's not off center like previous mods, this one is as it should be.
Flashing always at your own risk, please read all instructions before flashing, module has been tested and is working on the latest android 11 BA running OOS, untested on non OOS ROM's
NOTES
-----------------
This will cause issues with android auto!
Does not work on Android 10
Confirmed working on Android 11 open beta 2
Confirmed working on Android 11 open beta 3
Confirmed working on OB4
Confirmed working on stable 11.0.2.2
Installation
-------------------
Pre-requisites
Rooted Oneplus 8 Pro
Android 11 Stable
Magisk Manager
Installation instructions
1. Download the module from here:
11.0.0 https://mega.nz/folder/OB8hXYqK#4hVILxDw-K7EKemL3FDNwQ
11.0.1.1

11.0.4.4
0 byte folder on MEGA
mega.nz
11.0.5.5
the module for 4.4 seems to be working fine for 5.5
If you have issues then disable it, reboot, re-enable then reboot and test.
11.0.6.6
2.51 MB folder on MEGA
mega.nz
11.0.7.7
Use the 0.6.6 version, it reloaded first time for me, i don't believe they changed OPSystemUI.apk so it's probably the exact same apk.
11.0.8.8
2.51 MB folder on MEGA
mega.nz
11.0.9.9
As this is only Octobers security update you can continue to use 11.0.8.8 thanks @mac796 for clarifying functionality.
11.0.10.10
Again no changes to OPSystemUI.apk so the previous release will continue to work on this version
2. Copy to your phones storage
3. Open Magisk and select the modules icon
4. Click "Install from storage"
5. Navigate to the downloaded folder and choose the zip inside.
6. Allow it to complete and then reboot.

Troubleshooting
------------------------------
Magisk module failure.
This works for any magisk module failure.
1. Power off your phone by holding the power button, then turn it back on.
2. As your phone gets to the bootloader warning screen, press and hold volume up and down and continue to hold until the phone shows the boot animation.
3. You'll boot to safe mode, simply reboot once more.
4. On next boot all your magisk modules will be disabled, remove the problematic module and re-enable the functional ones.
Original mod made by
11-11.0.2.2
@Tulsadiver & @dianoandr tested by myself, absolutely massive thanks to them for this.
11.0.4.4 and onwards made by myself, original pixel version by Tulsadiver
REQUESTS
----------------
I can maybe do requests, but they won't be a priority and if i don't have the device, you will have to provide me the files required and give me the android version you're on, OS and you'll be testing too.

Why don't you just update to 11. It's way better than 10 anyway.

I don't have an easy route to 11.
I'm on a Sprint\Tmo OP8.
I don't have Local Upgrade.
OTA disabled due to root and Tmo hasn't finished A11 anyway.
I'm hoping someone will make a A11 full rom to flash via TWRP to get me there

I've been reading that thread for days and only get more confused the more I read...
I have to MSM back to stock? Then convert via fastboot? Idk... Very confusing reading it all.
Or I'm just too dense.

Lol nah it's worrying doing these things but it's not usually as hard as you think.
Get it planned out before hand, I've rebranded before, on the p20 pro and I think a few HTC devices.
You'd be hard pushed to brick a OnePlus phone tbh.
But you're right to be careful. Just make a back up first.

Yeah. I got a backup of persist.img and boot partition.
I need to backup everything via TWRP?
Thanks much appreciated

So persist and boot is fine. But you probably won't be needing any of them.
As for the rest of it, backing up via twrp is one thing but at the point there ain't a functional copy of twrp for 11.
So backing up to twrp might not be the best idea.
I got out all my pics, vids, music, synced contacts with an account (Google) or sync everything to Google (I don't mean a back up as a single image, that's your choice)
Apps I would make a titanium back up of.
Then theres pretty much nothing left.
Copy all the titanium files out, that'll serve you well when you're ready to restore.
Then head down the rebranding route..
I'm not great with changing variant but I would back up also maybe your EFS partition if that's still a thing (IMEI's) just because of the networks hold on things, I can't think of anything else you could lose out on..
I'll check out the rebranding guides and see if I can make easier sense of it for you.

Sadly some games and streaming apps like amazon prime display below the front canera....the result is a black bar just till the front camera
The notchkiller mods solved that issue but none of them working on android 11 so i was just asking if there any compatible version of the mod
Earlier netflix had this problem too but now they have solved it.

There's a feature to change screen in android 11.
Plus you have the cut out option in display.
