It is not necessary to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache but I recommend you to wipe those cause The updated system is not totally optimized and the consequences will be some freezing and lag when you open apps. So The best choice would be wiping cache and data partition. And let the phone like new. A backup is necessary when you wipe data.

Hi,
Everybody recommend some utility for dalvik cache cleaning like Titanium etc..
But what happens if I delete dalvik cache folder thru root explorer ?

Clean Dalvik cache is as simple as booting into CWM recovery advanced wipe dalvik

Wiping the dalvik cache will do nothing to your phone. It's completely useless to wipe dalvik cache. My advice would be that you don't even try the things you are talking about.
if i WIPE DALVIK, BATTERY AND CACHE it delete my games or prosses in the games i have?
ty for helpers
NO they will not be deleted. Wiping dalvik, cache or battery stats doesn't effect you applications.
what it means flash/boot ?
i had seen on some rom posted that before installing wipe/ boot !!
what does wipe/ boot means, i had wiped all cache, battert, dalvik..

Wiping only dalvik, cache and boot stats won't delete any app or app data from the phone....Wiping Data is the one which does that
Wiping of data is needed to uninstall any installed apps before doing a fresh/clean install of a new ROM
Otherwise it's most probable that the new ROM gets installed wrongly (except cm7 nightlies)
So before flashing new ROM do-
Data wipe,Dalvik, cache, battery stats wipe

Wipe Data means all your user data will be deleted, so the /data partition will be wiped.
Wipe Dalvik cache is wiping the dalvik cache
Okay in the dalvik cache is saved, where the program data is located. You can compare it to the MFT (Master File Table) in Windows
Mount system is if you have unmounted system first, to mount it again. Don't know when/why you should unmount system first. Maybe during an installation on sdcard and you don't wanna damage /system? Don't know...
If something is wrong please correct me

Just ask, here are many members who like to help you
All those things are recommended to do when you install a custom Rom. Or when your phone is not working well. Otherwise its not necessary doing that
Why you want to start a thread about this? Just google it friend. You'll understand more!

There's two android dictionaries on xda, one is the very first sticky of this section (tutorial, faq etc), the other is in android general. They explain everything a newbie should know.

So many answers but what is now an real Full Wipe?
As per my knowledge,
Full Wipe means, cleaning the old ROM information in the mobile.
If you want to know the process for Full wipe, you can check it here.

Hereticnine.
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Mounts and storage:
Format System
Format Data
Format Cache
Advanced:
Wipe Dalvik cache
Wipe battery stats
Fix permissions
Flash something
That's what I normally do with a full wipe

Just reboot into recovery (custom kernel not stock recovery) and use the Wipe data/factory reset option. You can also do extra wipes like described above if yo wish but in most cases just the wipe data/factory reset will suffice.
