Post here about what improvement did you find in ICS and what do you like about it..
The swipe to clear notifications and the auto spelling correction.

Panoramic camera is pretty awesome. Like the music settings, more control. Some nice dev features
Changing the right click is real nice too. Also, the google voice input is pretty accurate.

Did anyone find improvements with the WIFI?
everything so far. still figuring and finding out the new features. is there any kind of documentation that lists or explains all the new features that comes with ICS?
Has anyone been able to find the camera unlock feature? I don't think Asus included it in our build. :-(

If you are referring to the camera shortcut on the lockscreen... you just slide left.
I'm digging the new font, Roboto. Looks great and it's used in more places than I knew. Really freshens things up.
To go along with the swipe-to-close notifications, there's not the X to close all notifications at once. That's welcome.
The new Settings panel is much more nicely organized.
The stock browser seems to perform much better, and I like the option to enable desktop mode per site rather than overall. That way I can go with a mobile site where it makes sense but quickly select desktop mode when desired.
Seem to be lots of little (and big) changes like that. I'll be doing a factory reset just to make sure nothing's gumming up the works.

1) General speed of the tablet, night and day compared to HC 2) Wifi better range and speeds on speedtest.net app, actually better range than my Bionic now. 3) Swipe Gestures. 4) Camera updates, crazy good zoom and overall much improved.
Those are the first major differences I saw. Others feel free to post your own observations.
I like nothing. This update didn't fix my WiFi/Bluetooth issue(s) so this device and the dock are going back in the box to be returned to amazon tomorrow. Unless someone on backorder desires to buy it from me for the full price I paid on Amazon .

I ran out of thanks...Thanks...This ICS is running great on prime. things run more faster/smoother.
Its OK

Simply put, the improved wifi. I can actually use the thing now! Streaming flash videos also work properly!
- create folders
- inactive apps that you don't use or want to see in the application drawer.
- faster switching between to power options
- smooth UI
- better browser experience/options/UI
- built in photo editor
This is not maybe ICS thing but things that also came with the update.
- New widget "Asus Task, manager"
- better screen color
- no need for tapatalk, xda now is really fast in the browser if you set the XDA theme to classic
the speed plus they over clocked the CPU to 1.6ghz for us!!!
the touch responsiveness is wonderful!
I also found a cool setting if you have the dock in Asus customized settings with the mouse if you select gesture mode it allows you to zoom web pages with the track pad! its sweet!

If you do a little digging through the threads while the max output has changed to 1.6 it isn't scaling any higher than before. So the potential is there but it isn't enabled.

Can someone run Sunspider 0.91 and Browsermark with the ICS Browser and the Performance mode?
When you hand your phone to granny to take a photo of you, can she get the job done? Rate this thread to express how you deem the Xiaomi Mi A2's camera software. A higher rating indicates that the software is easy to use, fast, uncluttered, and inclusive of advanced features for when you need them.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Love the software. It's very well optimized on this phone, running Android One 8.1 out of the box. It's promised to receive Android Pie soon. My only complaint is that you can't move the Google search bar (at least I haven't figured it out yet).

I have the Mi A1 and removed the Google search bar with Microsoft launcher.
There are photo, video, portrait mode, panorama and also manual.
Manual have the options for you to change white balance, aperture, shutter speed, ISO and also two of the lenses (regular and low light).
Interestingly, in aperture mode there is a "PEAK" options which show you the peak point in picture. (I don't know how to explain it but try it for yourself!)
There are timer (3s and 5s only), tilt-shift (circle and parallel), straighten (which help straighten the image), group selfie (take multiple photos and create a shoot where everyone looks best, it claims), HHT and beautify (which have 1-5 and advanced options that can make you slender, have big eyes, tone and smooth your skin).
In settings, you can save your location, enable pocket mode, adjust anti banding, auto exposure, contrast, saturation and sharpness.
So it's quite cool in all.
Since i have installed the September update i have got a Software Bug. Everytime I am using by default the HDR mode of the stock camera, my foto is just a green square! But onyl in dark conditions - maybe the app wants since the september update to change the camera lense... and it does not work probably.
does anybody else has the same problem?

yup! i experienced this twice in a row when i was taking a picture. not sure what the issue is.
I have found the software to be very smooth and fluid; the September update on a fresh reset seemed to have also removed some of the bundled MI apps but then actually allows you to pick and choose which ones to install (such as the MI remote for IR blasting). An awesome feature to have this come from xiaomi instead of the xda community via rooting and other uninstallers etc. Camera and google maps also load very fast, which helps a lot.
Wanted to share with you some experience with the very nice phone from Xiaomi, and my first impressions are:
- Very nice look, excellent finish.
- Nice value and really high performance.
- Speedy unlock - either fingerprint or face - do not need to touch anything to get the phone unlocked via face recognition, however to enable face unlock I had to change the region of the phone to get it in options.
- very decent battery
But...
- Google assistant does not support "OK Goggle unlock" and voice control (seems not to work with all MIUI phones?)
- Widevine L3 - so NO HD Netflix or Amazon video
- Wide notch - is this the problem - anyway no notifications on top of display - so I have to pull down on top to see what is going on..?
- AMOLED display vastly inferior to Galaxy display - very washed out videos in direct compare
- Till now it seems for me impossible to implement the ported stock dialers (phone) to get the look and feel of stock Android.
- Camera disappointed me - cannot understand the DxoMark rating of 99 ??? In direct comparison with my Galaxy S8, very poor in low light, and despite OIS very shaky videos - Xiaomi desperately need EIS implementation.
- It was very tricky to implement multilingual setup, some bugs in MIUI perhaps.
- I have Xiaomi BT headset, but the sound paired with MI8 on this unit is too low. Also the call volume is a little to soft, wished the earpiece would be louder.
So, as I've stated much more negative comments, seems as not satisfied with the phone, what is not true, but these observations are really there and making some problems in real life.
And after a lot of playing I still do not know how to change the default icon look on the phone (needed for ported pixel launcher), since when applying different themes only the MIUI launcher displays new icons.
Any comments from other users?

Just a summary from another Mi8 owner:
- Google assistant does not support "OK Goggle unlock" and voice control (seems not to work with all MIUI phones?)
you complain about "ok google" doesn't work on a Chinese smartphone? Really?
- Widevine L3 - so NO HD Netflix or Amazon video
Widevine L3 was never supported on a xiaomi smartphone, nor a Mi6 nor a Mi5s. Why should a chinese phone support DRM from Netflix or amazon?
- Wide notch - is this the problem - anyway no notifications on top of display - so I have to pull down on top to see what is going on..?
did you buy the device without having seen it? Notch was known ....
- AMOLED display vastly inferior to Galaxy display - very washed out videos in direct compare
In my opinion, I love the display, it hasn't an exaggerated saturation as Samsung and its lot better than a Oneplus5T Display.
- Till now it seems for me impossible to implement the ported stock dialers (phone) to get the look and feel of stock Android.
There is no Guarantee to install google phone on every smartphone. Just for me, i've installed xiaomi.eu rom and can install the google phone dialer offically from google play store without limitations.
- Camera disappointed me - cannot understand the DxoMark rating of 99 ??? In direct comparison with my Galaxy S8, very poor in low light, and despite OIS very shaky videos - Xiaomi desperately need EIS implementation.
Can't really understand this point, i've compared this cam round about two weeks with a Huawei P20 Pro and JUST FOR ME: the Mi8 cam is better, the AI on the Huawei device is horrible and in low light situations i can't see no advantages too. Maybe the P20 pro is better in some conditions BUT compared with the price the MI8 is more better !
Here is my comparison of P20 Pro and Mi8, everything on AUTO and just Point and shoot:

Thank you for your thoughts, but..

Mi other Xiaomi (A2) does support "Ok Google".

This is Definitely true - amazing value.

Xiaomi MI A2 is a really good example why "Ok Google" works, it doesn't run Xiaomis Miui. It runs Android One, its a stock android fork and it would be a misstake when "Okay Google" wont work here....
Try the camera with xiaomi.eu MIUI 10 Stable. MIUI Global for Mi 8 is a big joke with a lot of problems and missing features. The DXO review was made with the Chaina ROM, that is why it shoots good/great.
I'm a happy Mi 8 user with the latest stable xiaomi.eu. After 1 month of using it: Mi 8 is not the best phone, but for this price, it's unbeatable right now and probably in the near future among the flagships.
Best regards!
After 3 months with Mi8
Summarized - A great phone!
- Screen is very good balanced - normal colors, nice.
- Battery durability is much better then expected, keeping it charged for 45 minutes a day.
- very snappy. Quick to browse.
- WiFi has very good reception.
- camera is excellent, but telephoto not very usable in lower light conditions (due to lack of OIS)
Never had any problem with this phone, which is - from my experience - very rare in praxis.
Hope to get Pie and camera update soon.
I hab similar experience with miui 10 global. Can't wait to unlock :|
Camera ist not good. Many bugs like Bluetooth disconnecting and big standby battery drain. App crashes. Always on display not working.
I also don't get why they don't display notification icons, it's so easy to do.
What I really like are the full screen gestures but that's about it lol

1. Google Assistant isn't working for a ton of phones, Samsung ones included. It's a GA bug.
2. No idea why they didn't certify L1...which is FREE!
3. The display is great, the only problem is with the older ROM, HDR isn't enabled yet so HDR videos look absolutely crap. Android Pie update has fixed this somewhat.
4. The Mi 8 has both OIS and EIS, and videos are very stable from my tests.
The other points aren't relevant to me so I hope they fix it for you.

Here I am with good news!
1. Google Assistant is now working (always on listening)
2. - yeah no change possible
3. Huge difference after last update, HDR videos look gorgeous!
4. As I said before, without telephoto, it's very stable. And now camera is working much better, even the night mode is very nice and if needed 960fps slow-mo is available.
This is a much better phone now!

There's an issue with HDR if you have not noticed with the update. If you watch HDR videos during night time, the whole system turns a yellow tinge (Night/Reading mode OFF). When you quit the video, the system UI turns back to white. I've tested this, and the system returns itself to normal at 7.14am (I don't know why lol). It's as if HDR somehow forces Reading Mode on during night time, even if you have it turned off.
Global miui 10 8.12.20 beta,
No issues with ok Google (no unlock though)
Camera is excellent
Notch is too wide
Ported stock apps work (Google dialer, Google camera with night sight)
Got 300,737 in antutu, basically rivalling a Kirin 980 (ok I was outside in 4C temperature running it)
As for MIUI, previously owning an honor 9, I got rid of EMUI as soon as possible , I actually don't mind MIUI 10, it's not very intrusive, and is fairly minimalist, paired with ruthless launcher and a pixel icon pack, I might actually keep MIUI after I unlock the bootloader

Otherwise might be the best phone for the money. A big difference to slightly lower cost Pocophone (display and camera are really much better)

for the pixel launcher, just download the modded APK from ApkMirror, this is the latest version, should work fine https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/papho...tless-pixel-2-launcher-mod-9-4889482-release/ Although, to be fair, i much prefer ruthless launcher, as it offers a few more features over the stock pixel launcher, unfortunately, you do need to install the pixel bridge fro assistant to work though.
I'd check the cameras, but my screen decided that working was not in its job description, so (luckily) i am getting a replacement device from amazon (still within returns window), should be with me tomorrow, so i'll test, but as far as i can tell, from taking a few pictures before it died, the stock camera seems very good, especially in the dark, i took a few pictures in an almost completely black room, upped the exposure, and got some rather nice (abeit a bit blurry, because i cant hold a phone still for 4 seconds it seems) images. This was on global beta 8.12.20, so may not be the same as stable 10.1.2.
I will say though, that the secondary lens, switched to using it independently (there's a setting for telephoto somewhere in the camera app), isn't very good in low light, and doesn't have brilliant saturation, but i think its a software thing, need to wait until there are a few 3rd part camera apps that can use both cameras, given pie offers an API to do that now.

you need to download rootless pixel bridge from github too
if you want a stock pixel launcher, just try an earlier version of the one on APKmirror, just scroll down until you get to the list of versions

ah, ok, have you actually got google assistant enabled, you actually need to open the assistant app at least once and set it up for it to work properly, or do you mean that the button isn't there in the search bar, because if so, that's a bit odd since it worked fine for me, to be fair, i'd just say switch over to ruthless launcher, i personally think its a bit better (although i do miss the 'right click' menu on long press of background), since the assistant button is built into the launcher, i cant see any reason why it shouldn't be there, possibly its an OS issue, i was on global beta 10.12.20, if you are on the chinese ROM it might not work, not without google services installed properly at least.

everything works about assistant (voice or button activated), I'm on global ROM. Just there is no specific assitant button on the right side of the search bar. I'm on MIUI 10.1.2.0 stable.
If there would be an specific assistant button I'd be able to switch to gesture control.
