Hi, I bought H2 SmartWatch and had some issues connecting it to my phone so I give others a tip how to avoid frustration...
The watch uses WiiWatch app to connect to your phone...
The trouble is that it won't connect until the GPS is turned on on your smartphone... That's all (but it was really difficult to find this out so I hope this will help someone )
sorry, cant help you on your query, but am thinking of getting this watch myself, can you:-
1. give an estimate of battery life just on GSM standby, i.e. with all the other radios turned of and not using for entertainment etc, also
2. where is the speaker, can't see it on any pic's i've seen
thanks
Hi, there is no need of further help for me... The GPS turned on solved the issue... To your questions... I'm only testing it for a few days but I can tell you that the battery life is short... I have no sim card inserted only the Bluetooth connection with my phone and the battery lasts only for 24 hours...
Second question... The speaker is on the left side of the watch... It looks like a card slot... The mic is on the right side by the way...
And when you are considering this watch be aware that it's not waterproof... I thought it has ip68 as there are many misleading descriptions on the web... Only the H1 is ip68 waterproof...

yeah, i've been looking at a few cheap chinese smartwatches, the specs can vary from one seller to the next and its very difficult (almost impossible) to know who actually makes them, still their cheap enough to take a punt on
what's the speaker volume like when taking a call?
I really don't know because I use it as Bluetooth connection only and that function is only available with sim...

Really the H2 is clearly the pick of the two. You do realize that customers have been complaining about the integrity of the water proofing and the H1 has been recalled and reworked at least once.. Good Luck.
Really? There is an issue with the ip68 of the H1? I got my watch delivered yesterday and tried it under water and there is no problem by now... I know that the spec's of the H1 are much lover then the ones of the H2 but I really can't see any performance difference between the two of them (just been testing it for a day). And I like the basic software of the H1 more... There are more sport options and some other little things... Can you tell me what issues should I expect with the H1?

Ok, I'm using the H1 the third day now... I had no issues with the waterproofness. The speed of the software is the same as on H2. There are more sport options, there are also more basic apps (or sensors) for example the compass, barometer, thermometer, sleep monitor. The issue I had with the H2 concerning the GPS which had to be turned on to connect to the phone is gone. The watch isn't vibrating every time I leave the room where my phone is telling me that it's disconnected which really annoyed me with the H2. The Bluetooth range is also better. And the battery life is better too. The only issue which I found by now is that the heart rate monitor is showing a lover rate when you are sweating but the H2 had the same issue.
If I encounter any issues I will report them but by now I'm glad about my choice...

The H2 Supports true bluetooth tethering like the apple and android wear watches and does not need a sim card in watch to make and receive phone calls and text messages from watch.

Did you test it? Because when I had that watch (and it was connected to my phone) and tried to make a call it it gave me a message that the function is not available because there is no sim card inserted. And if you are wright how do you set it up to work? I don't have the H2 any more (I have the H1 now) but I could test in on both (I sold the H2 to a friend) if you tell me how...

Only works on the H2 fully tested and verified working. The H2 comes with a nice little app called "Bluetooth Calls" in the App menu. It will become more available on more phones including the H1 soon with a App that can be side loaded or loaded through an update. Only the H2 and Allcall w1 have it built in stock out of the box.

A lot of people had this problem on Mate 9 as well.
It works fine for me.
Are you using original USB-c cable?
Yes, im using the original USB-c and two alternatives and is the same problem , looks like is not running , may be some task is stopped or killed by the phone.
Did you turned off something on your phone?

worked on my Sony without problems. In my new car (Skoda Amundsen System), I get the black screen... No solution yet
I had same problem so I uninstall AA then reinstalled it. Works perfect even with a Brodit iPhone mount with a lightning to USB C adapter. I have the best of both worlds AA or carplay USB debugging on by the way..

Correct. This seems to be an issue with EMUI itself as it's not an issue with vanilla Android 7, 8 or 8.1.
I have no problems using AA with my Seat Leon (MY2015). Before Mate 10 Pro i was using Huawei P9 and P10 also without problems.

No, that's the only issue - on the previous phones (P9/P10) it works. But for me no problem to use phone controls.
I've had mixed problems with my Mate 10 and Android Auto. Most things like Spotify and TuneIn work, but Waze and Google Maps crash it. You need to clear the cache and data from the Android Auto app and any app that doesn't work, that fixed it for me

Haha. That's so far off being ready that you'll likely have a new phone before it's ready.
Gearbest is selling the GTR international version that supports English. I'm in the US and I was wondering if I buy the international version now, will it be 100% the same as the US version of the GTR when available?
Another question. Is a phone with bluetooth 4.2 compatible with the new Amazfit GTR bluetooth 5.0?
Usually there are only two versions :Chinese and International, there was never an US only version of BIP, Pace, Stratos or Verge...

This is text from Xiaomi Today: "Being the smartwatch, the Amazfit GTR concludes multiple connectivity options for better performance. It comes with jam-packed features like Bluetooth 5.0v for wireless connectivity". It doesn't matter which operating system running in yours device, bluetooth technology in all devices is just bluetooth. So if is written 5th version, that's mean must be 5th version and it's doesn't matter iPhone or Samsung, Xiaomi, Sony, Huawei and ect. android or Apple's software.
I can't quite follow what Xiaomi Today is saying in your quoted text. Will my phone need Bluetooth 5.0 for it to work with the GTR? Or will 4.2 be compatible?

With a quick google search I found that the watch has Bluetooth 5.0 or 4.2 LE (and there where shops naming both -.-), it may be the different released versions... Sorry for the comment but... Chinese being Chinese...
Anyway back to the question, I found an article pointing out that Bluetooth v5.0 is backwards compatible with v4 and also improves the connection, hence, it should work.
I guess the confusion is that the articles I have seen only mention that phones with Bluetooth v5.0 will work with accessories (speakers, watches, etc) that only have Bluetooth v4+ and not the other way around. Do accessories with Bluetooth v5.0 work with phones with only Bluetooth 4+?

I read under some YouTube comments. But back to the first question it will work correctly with 4.2 Bluetooth system or we need 5.0 on our phone. Any experience? (I talked some people but all of them used Bluetooth 5.0 so now I don't have correct info about working with older sys). I'm still waiting to receive my GTR so I can't answer whether a 4.2 bluetooth phone will work with it. Being that only a few high end phones with bluetooth 5.0 are available at this time, I would think we'd be hearing complaints about the GTR not working on older phones (4.x). So I'm leaning toward it will work fine. I will come back to this post to confirm the 4.2 question when I receive my GTR.
What do people think the outlook is like in terms of updates to this watch, new faces etc?

Amazfit ensures that GTR paring works fine starting from Android 5.0, and there were no Bluetooth 5.0 devices at the time it was released. That's why I assume that a 4.2 Bluetooth phone will have no pairing issues.

Xiaomi devices are known for their popularity in the developer community, I expect the same to continue with this device. The Mi Band 4 was recently released and there are already over a thousand watch faces for that bad boy, and it has already gotten a few firmware updates.

Hello,
I just received the beautiful Amazfit GTR 47mm aluminum version. I made all the updates of the watch, the font, the A-GPS... but the GPS can't be found / detected in France! I stay more than 3 minutes in the same place, in a clear place where there are no or very few buildings, but the GPS doesn't work...
I compared with my Amazfit Pace... which finds the GPS signal in less than 15 seconds! Look : i.ibb.co/8z5rwzZ/pace-vs-gtr-fr.jpg
By the way, I already reset the Amazfit GTR, I restarted the watch several times, I did the calibration to the compass. Nothing works
Someone had the same problem?

For me everything work ok on GTR Global version...
For Compass did u make this (∞) motion?
One more thing, this ceramic bezel is very soft, I already have a micro scratch! I didn’t drop it, I take it off at night ...
I can confirm, that GTR (international) pairs with my iPhone7 (bt 4.2) no problem. Battery life seems very good 4% battery used on the first day and night (with all the initial tinkering with a new toy ) without continuous HR and gps.

Hello i have a similar problem. GPS fixing is very very slow and GPS isnt working until A-GPS data is updated. But i can't find anywhere in Amazfit app where i can manually update A-GPS data. Do you know is there any option in Amazfit app to update A-GPS manually? Also have alluminium Aloy version.
Hello,
I made my first Cycling yesterday but was very disapointed with GPS tracking. After my run the track was about 50 m out off the real road.
Sometimes it is ok sometimes not.
if i stop moving the watch still detect movement and indicates a speedsometimes. Stratos did not have this pb (so sad the HR sensor died)
Do you have same issue?
Hi,
I've the same issue in my GTR.
Very disappointed.
I hope Huami solve this in future firmware update
Sent from my Redmi Note 5 using Tapatalk
Same issue with my GTR. I do hope they plan to improve it in a future firmware. I just sent a tweet to them to ask about the GPS issue I will let you know if I get a response.
Same here, tried to update agps without success
The GPS isn't good at all in general (I have a verge). The accuracy of the distance is really bad. Compared to a GPS bicycle computer (I have compared it to wahoo, garmin and lezyne) the distance recorded with the watch is always too less. It differs 2-5% of the real distance.
I have the same issue with my GTR It looks like off the road/streets by 20meter, sometimes on one side sometimes on the other so it is just very inaccurate... My pace worked much better (until I went inside the pool with it), I regret I didn't buy a Stratos to replace instead of the GTR. Also if you are used to a allways-on-display it is hard to downgrade to AMOLED, pity the transflective LCDs seems to be abandoned.
Yes i really hope they will be able to fix that because the watch is unusable in this configuration for sport tracking... again they've released their product too early without finishing to develop it...
My Stratos was really good for GPS tracking but HR sensor died...
Bought this GTR thinking it could be better as it is their latest product (and hope it would be more reliable)
Lets hope for a good update
I send a email to Huami support and they demand examples to check.
Please, feel free to do the same.

Why do you think it will be netter?
My Pace was pretty good and from what I read the Stratos is also fine. The Stratos 3 support more GPS satellites than the GTR so at least is not the same hardware
After reading all the bad news about the GPS accuracy, I tried a 6 km run yesterday for the first time with my new GTR (aluminium). I was really surprised that the track it recorded was actually correct and pretty accurate. I think there many factors that influence the performance of the GPS.
I don't know Chinese but I have been using Google Translate to read comments on the official Huami forum GTR discussion group. It appears some are saying that that the GPS hardware is the same in both the GTR and GTS and the inaccuracy in tracking is a hardware issue so it can not be fixed with firmware. Can anyone confirm?
If it is hardware then I will be returning my watch for a refund.
Huami forum
they did update today on gtr and the gps is fixed
Yes there was an update today, but the GPS was not improved yet.
Most probably it is a hardware issue, since it wasn't fixed yet and GTS suffers for the same issue (basically the same hardware and OS, just square and a AppleWatch wannabe).
