Note 4 unable to reset - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I purchased a note 4 as a fun project, it has a cracked top glass only around the upper camera, I figured once I reset it, was going to proceed with glass replacement.
I put it aside, now its been a few weeks, so I hope I get the this in order of events.
While I am not expert, I am not a newberry either, but have exhausted my knowledge and searched this forum over, but maybe not using the correct search keyword.
I believe it is complete stock, but has a passcode and/or finger print lockout, so unsure. Still has all the previous user's settings & files.
It boots fine to lock screen. I can navigate to make an emergency call, all screen, volume buttons work, etc.
I simply want to wipe it through the normal stock recovery, but the normal key power+up+home combo is not working, the phone simply boots straight to lock screen every time.
Download mode is also not accessible either. power+down+home, same thing - boots and straight to lock screen.
Every combo of pressing power, volume or home get me to the same spot. Its as though the buttons do not work until it is booted up to lock screen.
I figured I would craft up a 300K usb jig to force download- still no go, same issue - boots straight to lock screen. Even tried variable resistor values, still no go.
I finally was able to get to download mode using Samsung 300K tool program - but even then, the phone will only initiate download mode if I click "connect" at just the right time during bootup.
So I downloaded the appropriate 6.0 android from SamMobile, loaded it via Odin successfully, the download finished, phone rebooted, and continued with android setup ( the screen where android initializes apps i.e 1/3xx, 2/3xx, etc and runs through 200, 300 or how many apps are installed, it takes awhile), so I walked away to let it finish.
I come back - its on the same dang lock screen.
Now I have read that one workaround is to pull the battery after some point to stop the phone from booting, then enter recovery and clear cache/ dalvik.
So I tried that, Odin, download, once phone reboots and vibrates, pull battery - but as stated, still not able to enter recovery.
USB debugging does not appear to be enabled, so unable to try that route either.
At a dead end. Anybody have a suggestion to get this device reset to factory.
I will even take a verbal beating
Would love to even get TWRP, but thats a pipe dream at this point.

No boot G-Tablet

I search all over the internet and none address my issue.
I use my Gtab occasionally. Last week I turned on my tablet and it goes to the first screen with the three birds then move to the "Gtablet" screen and stays there. Tried several time to no avail. I finally did a hard reset (had to open the back), still the same thing. I then tried the recovery (ON button while holding Volume +) The three birds again shows up and the small message on the top left of the screen saying Recovery Key detected and stays there. Nothing else happens. All of the thread I saw always refers to the last option is to do the recovery mode. Well, my recovery mode does nothing. Anything else I can try?
Thanks for any help...
You need to nvflash. Please google "gtablet for dummies" website and follow directions.
good time to try JB

Since it appears you need to re-nflash back to BL1.2 I would think this would be a great time to try out one of the JB Roms. I would suggest Smooth Bean, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900562.
I think some people issues with it are 1) not following install instructions, 2) related to Chrome and/or flash. I'm not a big fan of Chrome. Would prefer Opera Mobile but hadn't got flash to work yet with it but flash does work with the default browser. Also tried Firefox, flash didn't work there either. You will be surprises how fast it seems to be.

Fascinate Stuck On Pattern Lock

Any possible workarounds for getting off the retrieve pattern lock if you have forgotten a gmail acct? Done doing factory reset via cwm and tried installing stock rom and kernel but it always ends the same way. With customs, I always get a bootloop.

i seems an answer is in the post a few below yours::
Samsung Galaxy SCH-i500 how to bypass "Login with google account" screen?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182268
Quote:
1. Completely power off and power on your Galaxy-S phone.
2. Right after you pass the Galaxy-S and just before the Verizon Wireless logo video ends, immediately tap on the home button extremely fast and repeatedly (at least 4-5 times per second). If the Emergency Call button pops up, click that every now and then (3-5 times) but keep tapping on the home button. During this process your phone may flash the password screen or keypad screen just a few times and your phone will seem to be lagging due to the tapping.
3. Keep tapping until you see your Android home buttons stay steady at the bottom. Voila, you’re in your phone! If the emergency keypad constantly shows up or if it shows the Google account screen constantly, you have failed. The success rate can be around 15-50% so keep trying until it works. (You may want to grab a young phone-savvy guy or girl to do it if your fingers are too slow)
4. Find and run the Settings App and go to Accounts & Sync.
5. Under Manage Accounts, remove all accounts except your Google account.
6. Press your power button off and on and enter your correct Google account information.
7. It will ask for a new security pattern. Enter it twice and you are done!
This solution worked for me. If it does for you, please leave a comment with your carrier and phone model to let others know that it worked!
... but worked just fine.
.
will try this method. will keep you posted if successful or not.
managed to get in. but now theres a new one. somehowmthe owner had a tw launcher installed and im'm stuck on fc error message. if i try to close it, i'm back on the gmail acct retrieval. hmmmmm.....
Looks to me that o won't he able to do the above steps. Hands are too slow. Also found out that it's like a common issue to the sgs stock recovery. Used odin and flashed cwm 2.5.1.x instead amd wipe from there. Worked like a charm.

Moto 360 2nd Gen - Boot loop after security update, can't navigate in recovery mode

After allowing to download a security update a couple of days ago, my watch went into a boot loop. It would get up to the screen with the time and the colorful spinning circles, run for a bit, then turn off.
I can enter fastboot, which has a message that the battery is low, and to connect a USB data cable (don't believe that's possible), status: 0.
I can also enter recovery. However, the instructions say that I should swipe up on the image of the dead Android. This doesn't work at this point, but a long press of the physical button does. So I enter recovery, and see my list of options. Again, I'm supposed to be able to swipe up and down to scroll through the list, and swipe left and right to select an item. No swiping works. Both a short and a long press just select the item in recovery, and the only item I can select at that point is to reboot.
After draining the battery as much as possible, to the point that I can't even enter fastboot without charging, I powered it on, and instead of displaying the time and spinning circles, it's just the spinning circles, but I think I have the same problem. It was running that for at least 20min and never got past, which is longer than even a first boot after factory reset.
Any thoughts on how to navigate in recovery or factory reset another way?
Same situation in here, but I solved it by pressing power button for 10 seconds, then the watch reloaded and everything went fine.
I have the same problem, but I get to the factory default option and back to the initial loop
Did anyone fix this?
Motorola have said they'll take my watch in for repair, but as I'm outside the 1yr warranty, they'll charge me. Also, they don't know the cost of the repair, so I'm basically giving my watch away allowing myself to be held to ransom for whatever price they seem fit.
Same here but its booting showing we got key update and I can't navigate to any side, even though on recovery mode same touchscreen not working. all was ok before this update...

There might be a possibility that your recovery mode is working, but you have to navigate with two fingers or swipe multiple times to get from one to the next entry. I thought that my touch is broken, but its just a bad engineered handling.
I hope this helps
Cheers

Yes Same here I also managed to do that !!
But anyway its not working normal and its not an system update..as after full reset you get back... this is just wear os update which is not coming back to my watch after I have reset it, I got old interface and security patch stays on 2017 April so our watch is lost support for updates
Is there a way to report Motorola support team that with this update they make watch useless?
You can get the touch to work in recovery. It's just very buggy...
Swipe down (might be up, not quite sure anymore) like a maniac as soon as you select recovery mode and don't stop for about a minute. You might have to press the button to get rid of the android symbol. But the touchscreen will suddenly start working normally allowing you to navigate the recovery. Might take you a few tries, but it does work.
Good luck.

[HELP]Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X stuck at blank screen.

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, which I started using around March. Lately, I have been facing an issue which has left me troubled a lot. My Note 4X seems to be in a bootloop.
Around two weeks ago, I was casually using my phone in college. I had put around 25 apps on download from Google playstore. Alongside, whatsapp was running. I usually take pics of my lectures, so when the teacher had written on the board, and was about to erase, I quickly attempted to go to the home screen, by clicking the home button ( middle button), so I could launch the camera app, and take the pic. But, the phone didn't go to the home screen, and stayed at the app being used. However clicking on the recent apps (the left button), the two running apps showed. However, as I didn't have much time, I did what came in my mind. Reboot the phone. Unfortunately, as soon as it booted back, the screen remained black.
Its been like this for two weeks now. Whenever I turn it on, It will show the Mi logo, then the Android logo simultaneously below it ( Like usual when it boots), but after that, the screen goes black. Touching the three buttons at the bottom of the phone make the back-lit underneath light up along with a vibration(Like usual). Clicking the touchscreen gives a vibration. If a sim card is put inside, and a call made to the inserted sim card's phone number, the phone starts ringing as usual, however, still with a black screen. Another major issue I experience other than the black screen, is that the top right of the phone becomes really really hot as time progresses( within minutes)(This never happened before), and the battery drains really fast too. I get freaked out because of this( I think it might explode or catch fire), so I quickly turn off the device, after some tinkering.
I have been trying to find a solution since the past two weeks. Hard pressing the Volume Up+ Start button takes me into MiRecovery 3.0, which offers 3 options, 1.Reboot, 2. Wipe Data, 3. Connect To MiSuite. Going into 2 gives the option " Wipe All data" only, and 3 is seemingly useless the MiSuite doesn't support new versions of Android. Hard pressing the Volume Down+Start button takes me to FastBoot. It should be noted, that in both MiRecovery 3.0, and Fastboot, the phone doesn't warm up really fast, as it does when booted normally, and rather remains cool even if left for quite sometime in these modes (approx 30 minutes atleast).
The main thing I'm trying to achieve is to backup the data on my phone, mainly the photos (lecture notes), and whatsapp data. The rest of the app-data isn't that much important, albeit if also savable, it would be a bonus.
I haven't tried flashing any ROMs, recovery, or anything else, as I'm afraid the data may be erased, and as I have never done anything like this before. Also, my phone isn't rooted, as I didn't feel the need for it to be.
Help is highly appreciated. I hope to be able to safely extract my data, and be able to start using my phone again.
Thanks to advance to all those who reply.
Guys?

Corrupt firmware

I bought a used Zenwatch 2 and after a week it stopped working. When I turn it on it sticks on the Asus splash screen. After talking to customer support and looking online it appears that the "firmware has been corrupted.
I made the mistake of not turning on ADB Debugging while it worked, and unfortunately the screen appears to be unresponsive so I can't even put it into Fastboot mode to turn ADB Debugging on. Of course to make it even better the watch is not recognized when I plug it in because it doesn't appear to boot enough. Since I can't get into anything it makes it impossible to reinstall the firmware.
You all are my last hope, does anyone have any insights into a way to get the phone recognized, or anything that may help? Please help me keep this from becoming a fancy bracelet.
When you first turn it on, swipe diagonally down from either direction to get into recovery or fastboot. I know you said the screen is unresponsive, but if you haven't done it before it can be tricky. Even on a perfectly working watch, I still have trouble getting it to work. Try continuously swiping as you hold the power button, even before the splash screen shows up. If you can get it into fastboot, unlock the bootloader and try flashing my ROM.

That seems to be what I am reading, but so far I have had no luck getting it to trigger into fastboot mode. I will keep trying.
