Anyone have issues with "Ok Google" responding when the phone is locked? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I had a Verizon version of the V30 a couple weeks and it worked fine with "Ok Google" answering me regardless of whether the screen was on/off/locked/unlocked/charging/etc.
I switched to T-Mobile and bought a TMO version of the V30. It is not responding to "Ok Google" commands UNLESS the screen is on (locked or not). It won't work even if the phone is charging.
I've set up trusted voice (and tried deleting and retraining many times). I've even clear the cache on the Google Now/Assistant app and haven't had any luck.

Google Smart Lock is also active under trusted agents:
Any ideas why it's not working on this V30. I can't tell what I've done different versus the previous V30 I had.

It's working fine on mine from off and locked to open and ready. Edit to add that I have the Tmo version.

Good to know it's not just with the TMO version.
I've tried clearing the data and uninstalling the update for the Google app. No luck.
I also even tried turning on LG's built in voice recognition that is suppose to to unlock the phone and it won't even let me set it up:
I guess my next set is to do a factory wipe of the the phone and try and start all over.

Are you using Battery Saver mode?
OK Google won't work when Battery Saver is on.
That's the only thing I can think of to attempt to help you. :/

Mine is the Tmo version. Did you do any of the disabling stuff? That seems to have caused a lot of trouble for people.

The reason the LG Voice Unlock is giving you the mic error is because Google is still selected under the trust agent settings, so the mic is listening for OK Google when you are trying to record. If you unselect Google from the trust agents the LG Voice Unlock will work.
I'm having the same issue as you in that I can't get OK Google to work with the screen off (it works fine on the lock screen when the screen is lit), and I tested this to see if it may have been a hardware issue. The only thing I can think of at this point is that it is some software issue with the Google app that will hopefully get fixed in an update.

I did uninstall all the apps I thought were bloatware that it would let me. I disabled a few things too that I couldn't uninstall but have since re-enabled most (Duo and Facebook App Manager are still disabled) and it still won't work.
I've also tried most of the things suggested in this thread I found: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/websearch/ImhgT8BXboE;context-place=topicsearchin/websearch/category$3Aandroid

If I can't get it to work in the next few days I'm taking it back to TMO for a warranty exchange. Hopefully it's not all for naught and I have to waste time setting up a new one only to have the exact same problem.

Chrome to Phone Wont Connect....?

First of all: Just got a replacement phone yesterday from insurance so I have confirmed this problem on two different handsets.
The problem: When setting up chrome to message at bottom of screen on phone says "error: unable to connection". Chrome to Phone connects fine on the PC End but just not through my phones.
Any ideas would be great. By the way I tried this immediately with the new phone straight out of the box with the same results. Tried clearing the app data. Just not getting any luck with this.
Yeah I sometimes have problems like this with the app.
Are you on a wifi network? If you manage to log into your google account, try to disconnect that account (on both ends) and then reconnect. If all else fails, just try removing and reinstalling until it works. Sorry, this is the only help I can offer, but these steps usually solve my problems with the app.

There is a limited amount of phones that can be attached to this service at any given time... I have no idea how many that is but I have the same issue and mine was caused by phone replacement and flashing roms if you did not disconnect phone properly it will not allow access again....
This is a major issue that google team needs to address especially with the amount of DEVS there out there so this has been a major problem for me as of late... Do not go to extremes trying to get this to work like wiping your phone and the like. Unfortunately all that can be done now is just wait... some people have gotten lucky with uninstall and re-install of the application but its a 50/50 Chance...
Hold tight if I get more info I will post it here.
updates? got this too now on new rom

I was reading something one time that everytime you flash a new rom it makes you look like you changed phones, so you have to go to Google some where can't remember and unlink that phone from your account. You have to do this after every Rom flash.

I got around that issue by just opening a new g-mail account and attach the chrome to phone to the new g-mail account.

Google Now == No Bluetooth Voice Dialing

I can't believe how many Developers are blindly adding this stupid Google Now and breaking bluetooth Voice Dialing.
It has nothing to do with how well it was Ported from Jelly Bean.
Google Now breaks bluetooth Voice Dialing.
Please developers make it an option to add it, an option to Remove it or release two flavors with and without.
You are killing a lot of folks that feel bluetooth voice dialup is a mandatory function and renders the phone useless.
Even some Jelly Bean Nexus users are wishing they never took the Jelly Bean update.
Here is a bug filed on Google Now

I don't think you can just uninstall it.
Otherwise I would.
Things are rewired and need to be rewired back.
Some files include other mods as well.
I have tried.
FYI, you can get Bluetooth Voice Dialing back by going into
Settings->Apps->All->Google search->and DISABLE.
You will lose all Google Now features but at least you can get Voice Dial back over a Bluetooth Headset.

What's your problem. DB13 didn't know the answer and obviously you don't either.
Not sure what ROMs your running. But on some ROMs that Disable feature is greyed out.
On MikLate Rename System/App/Velvet.Apk to System/App/Velvet.Apk_OFF
On superLTE Rename System/App/GoogleNow.Apk to System/App/GoogleNow.Apk_OFF
On MeanROM the Disable works.
And for the Record I think GoogleNow is using up battery too.

SuperLTE is considering removing it and making it optional for similar reasons.
Mikey has made newer releases to help with Google Now battery life.
I think my hunch is correct.
I've moved back to MeanRom 2.1 since the wave of Google Now ROMs while you guys beta test it

Yea except 2.9 was before the release that "improved battery life" version. Still 19 hours w/25% left, with medium/heavy usage. Oh yea I forgot, thats terrible battery life.
Mean 2.6 and higher have been nothing but butter, so not really sure what there is to beta test..
If you want to get rid of google now go to this thread and flash the zip under 'back to stock' then uninstall and reinstall 'talkback' from the market and bluetooth dialing and voice search will work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29756226
Edit: I'm running Bad Seed Customs Tranquility RLS1b and its baked in right now but in the next build it will be removed and made an add-on option. Super smooth Rom with lots of options and great battery life, definitely worth a spin.

Here's a link to a thread that might work as a temporary solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883895
It says to convert Google Now from a system app to a user app and then it will allow us to use a 3rd party voice dial app without disabling Google Now (Google search app) at all. I tried it on LiquidSmooth jb Galaxy S3 rom and it did let me choose which ever voice dialing app I wanted, but then I had troubles getting the 3rd party apps to use my bluetooth mic over my phone mic. I ended up using the app "Voice Control Full" for $1.99 because it had the option to force sound to a bluetooth device.

This was a pain in my ass too which is why I came snooping around the threads. I have mean ROM and let me tell you that google lady can't tell a phone number from a hole in the ground. My workaround for now is that I just put the voice dialer icon on the first screen and while I have to touch the icon on the screen to activate the dialer, it lets me use my bluetooth headset to speak the name. I didn't want to uninstall google now, because i like the functionality. So hopefully one of these days they'll push out an update that addresses this issue.

Enjoy your app play store popup

Ok For a couple months now Ive been getting a very annoying nag everytime I download a new app from the play store. Basically I click download and I get a pup up nag that says "enjoy your app, if you ever forget your password we can restore your access...blah blah.tell us how we can contact you" or something to that effect. I don't want them to contact me and I'm not going to forget my password..I just want to turn the nag off......Ive checked the settings and I haven't found a way to do it. Ive also searched here and all over the web and cant seem to find anything.

Can you take a screen shot of it please, I've never seen that before.
I second what @mjones73 said... I haven't gotten that ever, grab a screen shot so we can take a look at it.
A little preliminary stuff, have you ran Addons Detector to see if there is some push stuff going on?

I cant get a screen shot, I accidentally hit continue on it and then cancelled it....if I do that it goes away for a little while but comes back. As for the addons detectors no I havent I can try but this has been happening on multiple ROMs and I just reflashed the phone.

Why? You should have verification setup even if you have it toggled off in your Google account settings. I believe this is also information needed to do a password reset if needed, so it's actually kind of important.

loki,
Am getting the screen once in a while. Like you, I do not intend to provide google/gmail with my phone number voluntarily as well. In my case, when I got the screen, I went to the settings and killed play store(Force Stop). That screen disappeared when I installed a new app using play store App again.

Hello.
I also have this all the time i update or install a new application using the play store. I dont think you can turn this off unless you give google what it wants.

I finally gave in and did it and it went away. Pretty sure google already has my phone number anyways. Still kind of messed up though considering all of the hacking and data spills happening lately...I don't totally feel comfortable giving ANYONE my info lately.
In my case, I log into the gmail account associated with the phone on a Desktop using browser. My guess is that google wants to make sure that the primary account associated with the phone is active. Still it sucks that everything considered personal are now targeted information for Corporates like Google.

of course they have all this information, the point here is with your approval they legitimize it; they come clean. in practice but unfortunately none of it matters.
google is a disgrace and it blemished "open source".
I have to agree, yet another data-mining ploy by Google.
Anyway, I seem to have (at least temporarily) stopped this notification by hitting continue, then deleting the pre-filled phone number and then backing out of the recovery options screen.
We'll see if it comes back. I too have no interest in giving out more personal information than is absolutely necessary to make my phone work.

Debloating, what is safe to remove?

Been searching the threads and wanted to know what is safe to freeze/remove? I imagine the list for the TMO G4 would be the same for this this device?

Experimentation is key.
So far for me I've frozen anything listed as t-mobile with the filter option. I've frozen (deleting caused problem) all the Instagram Facebook (messenger too) handlers. Froze App Source I deleted the LG voicecare (only cause when I ran LG update I stupidly checked all of them) since I know I could without drama. My best suggestion is freeze first. Run phone for a bit and see if you get any errors on the screen.
This is everything that I have frozen. No issues so far. I have Nova installed as a system app, that way I can freeze the LG launcher.

You can delete all the Google and all the T-Mobile apps. Also delete AdaptClient and LTDDM, as those are behavior-tracking spyware apps.
You can delete LGPartnerBookmarksProvider which is a carrier customization package for Chrome.
Don't delete any LG apps as they're all tied into the system one way or another.
When I was making my ROM, I found that deleting LG apps would often result in FCs in random settings screens or other LG apps.

Hey, I'm curious how you managed to delete Google apps without ill effect. I shut off the Google suite and my phone went nuts. Particularly bothersome was the loss of voice to text and spell checker when writing text messages (with Textra). The Google keyboard and ( I don't know why there are so many voice related apps)the voice recorder and the other audible vocal apps I had to turn back on. Do you have a trick that made it possible to disable chrome without headaches?

I imagine (and I mean this as much as a question as I do a comment) that after removing apps that serve a purpose such as Google keyboard, you could restore functionality by installing a replacement app of your choosing...? At least it seems to make sense in theory.. Plz correct me if I'm mistaken ... This is the 1st device I'm debloating myself manually so no experience to back my assumption... But I would like a more seasoned opinion on the matter... Thx

Hi all. I have swipe elite star phone with android 6.0.. For sometime my phone shows insufficient internal storage. I tried removing the apps from internal memory. But no use. When i checked it shows almost 4.8 to 5 gb used in internal storage. Then i got fed up and i did a factory reset. Then everything will be fine for sometime until again the same message appears i had to repeat the same... Recently i noticed that phone and messaging storage apk is the one taking up that space. There is no option to delete or clear the data from the app management.. Kindly help in this issue.. Its frustrating to again and again do factory reset.. I have attached a screenshot here which shows the same.. Help out guys...

Found a solution finally.. After factory reset, i disabled my default messaging app 'Indus message' and installed sms organizer. Now the size doesnt go up.. And never had the problem till now.. I guess the problem was with that native message app..

Glad you found this also. I have the same problem with a "Cell C Jazz" Android 6.0 OS, too. I will try to remove the default sms app.
Just a question though.. Are there not developers on this site that can fix that sort of thing? Or is it just an easy way (read: lazy) to remove an app to replace it with another without fixing a trawling bug and maybe most likely learn from it that could potentially save the world in 10 years from now?
Cheers,
Razer0
*edit* Ok, ok. I see google are its "parents". Would love to see someone closely involved fix this directly

Uninstalling is not the best idea. You can try disabling it.
