Hi, I am absolutely new here and technically about android too.
Details about OS:
Sense 5.5 + 4.2.2 JB (Factory installed)
Things were good with my HTC One X+ for exactly 1 year.
Now it started giving problems...
First mobile got froze with notification window half dragged (when mobile was idle for nearly 2 Hrs), it won't respond to normal touch and keys. Power down didn't work too. Left it like that for 2 hours, then it allowed me to restart. After couple of restarts it became normal, almost. Now notification pull down won't work, with screen rotated - it works.
Tested with HTC tools and with ZTest, no touch sensitivity on the area where notification bar is.
Is it a HW issue or can be resolved by SW updates?
Please help me with this.
Digitzer problem, having the same.
Run HTC test app, it can only be opened by entering the dialer and typing hmm, *#*#HTCTEST#*#* I guess. Then there will be an option to draw lines where you touch. Swipe with your finger on your whole screen and probably a small area in shape of a rectangle at the top of your screen won't draw any lines.
Alternatively, you can go to settings > developer options and there is a similar option to draw lines.

Ran the test. As you said, it won't draw lines in shape of a rectangle where notification bar is.
So it's HW issue. I will check for Digitizer replacement. Thank you.
Hi,
I am still waiting for my Mate 10 to arrive, but since I am currently also am using Huawei phone (p10 lite to be exact) I had a question regarding lock screen notifications and screen time out..
Phone is setup to wake up screen when a notifications comes (screen locks and passwords set to NONE..so the screen is un-lockable with power button + swipe or received notification + swipe), but the problem is that phone locks up too fast for me to do a quick reply. I want to able to quick reply messages without opening the app.
Here's how it happens in action:
1. Notification/SMS is received and screen wakes up;
2.You expand the received notification and hit Reply underneath it;
3. Start typing your replying and baaaam, screen is timing out as you type it as long as you exceed ~15 seconds which is the approximate time during which screen is timing out automatically after waking up the screen no matter if you interact with it or start typing reply..
So annoying.. Basically its not the 15 second limit which is annoying, annoying and illogical seems the fact that screens goes into auto timeout althought you are interacting with screen (typing a reply)..
Does this happen also on Mate 10/EMUI 8.0 Android 8.0 the same way as it does on p10 lite EMUI 5.1, android 7.0?
Anyway to fix this? Extend time out time on lock screen?
This is not in any way related to general screen time out under Display/Sleep (sleep turns off when idle), so please don't waste space and suggest this as a solution .
Bump.
Can someone with mate 10 check this? Whether screen time outs in ~15seconds if you reply on a notification (sms, Whatsapp) without unlocking the phone and replying through quick reply option.
If I choose to quick reply from an SMS that has appeared on my lockscreen I have to unlock the phone before I can reply. If I now unlock my phone I am still presented with the quick reply SMS notification and if I reply the screen does not turn off while I am using it. Is that what you mean?
The notification wakes up the screen for around 11 seconds before the display turns off.
Update: Ah yes I read you mean with no lockscreen password. Yes in that case the phone still times out while you are replying and is under 15 seconds.
However why on earth would anyone not have a password on their lockscreen amazes me. What if you lost your phone or it was stolen? There is so much sensitive and personal information on our phones nowadays. Obviously it's none of my business what you do with your phone but with the fingerprint sensor being instantaneous to unlock the phone, having a password is a non issue now. ?

i like the unlock process to be as fast as possible and I have never lost a phone. Even if I would someone would gain access to my google stuff, but as soon I block the sim card + change the google password trespass is over , but thanks for checking it out for me.
I guess with mate 10 replying from lock screen will be different, meaning that I will have to use fingerprint either way.. if you receive a notification and the screen lights up you cant use quick reply unless you hit the fingerprint scanner right? But doesnt that (hitting fingerprint scanner) automatically bring you passed the lockscreen to “desktop”? Basically lockscreen notifications are only possible if you access the phone with power button right? But then again you wont be able to reply from lockscreen if you disable fingerprint as lock security alltogether..
I just love to quick reply from lockscreen, when I am busy with other stuff on my pc desk..notificiation just comes up and without actually picking up the phone i quick reply all my working day with phone lying on the desk knowimean!?!

That's the beauty of a front facing fingerprint scanner. You don't have to pick up the phone to unlock it.
So... the phone is on your desk. The screen wakes up because you get a message on your lockscreen. You swipe down on the message and tap reply. You immediately get a pop of your pin code screen. Instead of typing your pin, lightly tap your fingerprint sensor. Immediately the pin screen vanishes and the keyboard pops up with the text field automatically highlighted for you to start typing your message straight away. You don't even have to tap the text field to position the cursor, it's already there. When you are done either let the phone screen time out naturally or press the power button.
So you see the difference between having a password on your lockscreen (with fingerprint assigned) and not having a password, to be able to reply to lockscreen messages is wait for it........... ONE TAP. ? I mean that's the equivalent of adding an extra character to your message. You don't even have to press and hold the fingerprint scanner. It's so super fast you can barely touch it.
Make sure to assign your first fingers to fingerprints for easy unlocking on the desk. I have both my thumbs and both my first fingers assigned so I don't have to even think about using the correct hand depending on what I am doing.

And its not timing out as long as you type your message, right ? Because now phone is basically unlocked and it just stays in the area of expanded notifications since you have chosen to quick reply followed by fingerprint and so as soon as you are done and send the message it brings you to desktop. This is what I wanted to know. I tested this on p10 lite (pin+fingerprint) and its working, meaning screen no longer fades out during those default 15 seconds although you interact with the screen (type the reply with quick reply). Such security option (no fingerprint, no password/pin) as i use on p10 lite, because of fingerpirnt on the back, wont be used by me on mate 10, since mate 10 has fingerprint on the front (easy to reach), so I guess I wont have no longer the issue with screen timing out when I quick reply a message from notification panel without actually unlocking the phone.
So I have the Mate 10 Pro in front of me. For the life me I can't figure this one out.
On the lockscreen, I cannot expand my notification to access items like "quick reply" or whatever, based on app. Also can't pull down the notification shade.
What am I missing?
I have the same problem with quick reply on the lockscreen.
Tried to deactivate the fingerprint scanner, but still quick replying doesn't work.
Can somebody help?
I believe this is caused by EMUI.
Lockscreen notifications cannot be expanded
I've been using the mate 10 pro for the past 48 hours, coming from a Nexus 6, and this is extremely frustrating...

It works for me. Fingerprint disabled with power button/home button and swipe afterwards as an option to unlock the phone phone and take you to home screen ->
1. Notification arrives screen wakes up (Settings -> Apps & Notifications->Notifications & status bar ->Notifications turn on screen (enabled);
2. I pull the quick reply option swiping on notification from top to bottom -> Reply and Mark as Read appears while the notification slides up until quick toggles which come down next to notification windows;
3. Hit quick reply and start typing..
But due to this screen time out thing I wrote in this topic I am now
using the phone with no security at all, meaning hitting home or power button on a switched off phone will take you directly to home screen (Settings->Developer Options ->Screen lock (disabled) and that allows me to quick reply on received messages from the notification/quick toggle panel with no time limit (screen wont time out unless you do not interact with the screen).

I find it really annoying, dunno why EMUI wants to override Android implementation.
The dropdown button below the WiFi icon is also missing...
I’m also having the same issue with all app with Mate 10 Pro(EU model 6/128 version]
There’s no any kind option to interact with notifications at lock screen.
No expand option ,no reply option with various app like gmail, outlook,WhatsApp,Viber.
It’s really frustrating and unacceptable such childish work with Oreo and Huawei implementation.

Really frustrated and the basic reason i've sold my Mate 10 Pro.
I can deal with many other bug but not this one unfortunately.
I'don't have any patience when and if eventually Huawei would fix that fundamental and very useful Android feature.

Have you tried changing settings>Apps¬ifications>notification management> top right corner three dot menu > lock screen notifications
I enable quick tap and it works for a few minutes then does not. Change what it does or on and off works for a sec. What's up?
One hand mode works for a little bit then full screen on it's own.

As much as I don't like to bump a thread I'll make the exception here once.
1. Under system - gestures - quick tap, you can set a few different options for double tap on the back of the phone. I tried a couple of the options but decided to go with open notifications. I exit out and double tap and voila it works. Then I turn off the display or flip to shh or even put it in my pocket. When I take it out it no longer works. If I open settings and close it without doing anything it begins to work again. Wait a few minutes with screen off and it stops working. Am I missing something?
2. One handed mode. Either enable it for swipe down from bottom or a shortcut on the homescreen and it works. But as I'm reading it all of a sudden goes full screen again without even touching the phone.
So if anyone can replicate this behavior I'd be curious. I understand it's not a most used feature but it seems like a bug to me.

I have turned Quick Tap off because it doesn't work consistently for me. As you noted, it seems like it only works once you turn it on and/or you go back to the setting. Maybe this will be addressed in a future update?

I haven't used one handed mode much, so I can't weigh in on this one.
Hey guys,
I got the Zenfone 9 yesterday and I'm already thinking about returning it. Main pain point at the moment is the Asus launcher, or rather the gesture navigation. Swiping left and right to switch between the applications is not working well for me. I'd say only half of the swipes (left or right) are actually changing the app. I'm pretty sure that I'm not too clumsy, since I don't have any problems on my Pixel 5 with the gesture navigation. Like I said, sometimes it works for a couple of swipes in a row, then it just stops changing apps. Then it works again.
I found 1 thread on the asus forums where a user had similar problem with the button navigation, without any real solution.
I also tried a different launcher (Nova and Neo Launcher), which of course suffers from the third party launcher bug (home screen blank for a second or just not registering clicks for a brief moment), so using another launcher is not an option and the problem with the swiping is present there as well.
Anybody else have this problem? Anything I can change?
PS: I had to do a wipe data via bootloader since the phone was stuck in a bootloop upon first boot, so I'm not offf to a good start here with this phone.
Use a case and tell us. Maybe a problem of palm rejection...
Using a case doesn't make a difference. I also have this problem when the phone is just laying on a table and I'm using just one finger to swipe on the bar.
After searching some more, I'm pretty sure that it is a defect. This issue is so obvious on my phone, I'm pretty sure it is a defective unit.
I guess I'll be returning this phone then......
Never had a single navigation bar misbehavior
normally, double tapping the recents key should switch to the next app in recents menu/task manager. however, in Zenfone 9, it's very inconsistent, double tapping often brings back the same app and doesn't switch or goes to home screen. More than half the time this happens. if tried multiple times, sometimes recents key becomes unresponsive and need to press home key to make it work again. I know in android 12, task switching is slow (google's fault) but in other phones it works slowly at least. however in this phone it often fails to work. I've turned of long press recents to take screenshot and yet this occurs.
It doesn't happen if "Animator duration scale" is 0 or off. However, without animation the experience would be poor.
does anyone else have this issue and any workaround?
Do you use any custom launcher? I've noticed some similar thing being on "Smart Launcher".

Same issue, stock everything right outta the box. It seems to be Chrome that isn't behaving as expected, other apps toggle no problem but Chrome refuses to cooperate. Very annoying.
Same issue with me. But I use Nova launcher. And I dont double press recent button. I use Fluid Navigation Gestures to switch to last app. Its inconsistent. Sometimes all recent apps will be shown black
Sames issue here, with A12 and now with A13. Stock launcher

true, I found it to occur in some other apps too, but chromium browsers seem most common by far.
