Casio VT500-E challange - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good day all,
at work I had re-ignited life of a collegue's old Asus tablet by re-flashing his ROM. In all enthousiasm they gave me a company's tablet: VT500-E which is a industrial-like tablet just to do inspections and handle forms.
However the device OS is Android ICS, and looking at its specs it could also handle apps like Excel etc just as well. This is also what is desired along with some tweaks for extra performance and battery-life gaining.
But while playing around with this device the following obstacles come forward:
- No possibility for reboot into fastboot (hardware keys 0 result, 'adb reboot recovery' or 'adb reboot fastboot' just reboots regulary)
- No possibility for reboot into recovery
Kingroot did manage to root the device, I checked its succes with
Code:
adb shell
Code:
adb su
but the device needs Play Store (never been present by default) so I would like to flash gapps. So far no luck, nor much support on this device online.
Anybody have any experience with the VT500-E?

Did you search official roms with GMS ?

sorry to bring back from the grave, but I have 20 of these tablets and wanted to do the same... did you have any luck?

Hello, I am in the same situation. I managed to install the play store, it works, but can not download the applications:
- install Google Framework Services (com.google.android.gsf_4.0.4-338691-15_minAPI15 (nodpi) .apk)
- install the google account manager (com.google.android.gsf.login_4.4.4-1227136-19_minAPI8 (nodpi) _apkmirror.com.apk)
- Install googles play services (com.google.android.gms_14.8.49_ (000302-231258850) -14849001_minAPI14 (armeabi-v7a) (160dpi) _apkmirror.com.apk)

[Q] MK812 - how enable multiple users switching

I bought this nice minicomputer - MK812 Mini PC Dual-Core Android Camera Mic BT 4.2.1 and I relied on the fact that since there is Android 4.2 installed, I can use switching users, but unfortunately this function is disabled. I need to get it to work.
Of course, I googled. This is what I've already tried:
http://www.pocketables.com/2013/03/how-to-enable-multiple-user-mode-on-cyanogenmod-10-1-and-some-other-android-4-2-2-roms.html
The problem is that this command pm get-max-users returns Unknown command get-max-users.
Furthermore, when I enter SetProp fw.max_users 8, it has no effect, even after a reboot. The command pm usernameyouwanthere create-user is also without effect.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187934
App - 4.2 Multiple users feature enabler
This app can't be installed by Google Play (apparently MK812 is not a compatible device). Since I couldn't get APK anywhere to download, I downloaded the source code and compiled it and generated APK. Unfortunately, can't be installed either.
I studied the source code and found out that even if i was able to get it installed, it wouldn't have worked anyway, because this app runs similar commands (as those above) instead of the user.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.switchme
This could be a solution even for Android 4.0 and 4.1. It works, but switching takes too long, because it requires a reboot and this switching is not integrated into the system. So I do not want it.
Do you know of any other solution or anything what I could try?
I googled again, found this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34362377&postcount=8
But setting fw.max_users=8 in /system/build.prop haven't helped either.
Unfortunatelly they answer me, that MK812 mini pc does not support multiple user function. So I have to use SwitchMe Multiple Accounts

try
"setprop fw.max_users 8"
Lower-Case setprop without the quotes.
Edit: I see, can you and are you willing to get the source, modify it, build it and flash it? I'm going to have to enable it for my phone so when I figure out what needs modifying I'll let u know.

[Q] ZTE open c - installing google store for dummies

after looking at numerous threads and advice, it seems quite complicated to install a simple fn app, which by definition, is supposed to be easy,
why firefox doesn't have it, considering that most stuff is only available on itunes or google store these days, is beyound me.
Even more so that i thought that the dual core would a) let me run ffos or android ie via easy restart mode,
and b) android would have the google store app.
so. how do i get this on. some ppl seem to be able, and there explanation is: its complicated.
fair enough. i hope you will help me and others to work through this. An explanation for dummies.
this is the best post i'v seen so far.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/firefox-os/general/zte-c-roms-cw-recovery-50-t2806173/page3
so i can change my os from ffos to android and back. no problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axOYIfo7y2s
http://down.comebuy.com/Open_c_root_Android4.4.rar
but i get stuck with "adb reboot bootloader"
that won't work, so advice for dummies, from that point forward would be much appreciated. Thanks
ok, so tried installing two other adb programs, http://www.rockchipfirmware.com/sites/tntfiles/PDAnet-64bit.zip
and while neither where completely successful, they did manage to allow adb to access phone,
and for the commands to have determined affects, so have moved on to Upgrade tool, which does not recognize device, thoughts? help?
Hi darth lotus,
To install google play store, you need to be able to write to the system file system, to do this you would either need to root and push google apps (gapps) via adb, or replace the stock recovery with a custom recovery which will allow you flash .zips that are not signed by ZTE.
Installing clockworkmod recovery, for example would allow you to do this,
There are examples of clockwork recovery here http://forum.xda-developers.com/firefox-os/general/zte-c-roms-cw-recovery-50-t2806173 and here http://www.modaco.com/topic/373213-recovery-clockworkmod-6050-for-zte-open-c-kis-3/
And TWRP recovery here http://www.modaco.com/topic/373288-recovery-twrp-2710-for-zte-open-c-kis-3/
The second clockwork and the twrp recovery are by a developer named Konstat who has uploaded all his sources to github https://github.com/KonstaT/android_device_zte_kis3
Konstat has also started work on getting a stable version of Cyanogenmod 11 on the ZTE Open C, please see here http://www.modaco.com/topic/373214-devrom149-cyanogenmod-11-android-444-for-zte-open-c-kis-3/
I apologise for linking to a different website but until we can ask xda to create a zte open c forum, I do not really have an option :crying:

[NOTE]Android Emulator, an impossible root with 4.4.2 x86 image

New to here to share some thoughts: why is it so hard to run an emulator on PC?
Reasons of variety come to my mind, but I mustn't tell so. Just done days long of experiment and all in vain, here's my steps in summary:
1. Installed OpenGAPPS. Failed at starting Play Store. (Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped.)
2. Installed an unidentified Dell x86 version of Phonesky. Worked for a few minutes then stopped.
3. Installed Lucky Patcher site's Modded Play Store. Stuck at "Authorization is required. Please log in to your Google Account" message.
4. Init.rc trick: ramdisk.img successfully patched, adb shell always root without a need for adb root command anymore, but SuperSu simply didn't work at all.
5. Started from 27/01 and gave up on 28/02.
This thread is probably a collection of my emotional techie notes. I may reply if anyone asks for a laughter on the methods I used. It's OK. Ain't a developer, but ain't a normal user anymore.
At last, greetings to all! Hope I can learn more in the future from xda forums!

[Fydeos] How to install playstore and android apps ?

Hi,
I'm discovering Fydeos on my laptop, i've installed 8.1 build.
All is ok but i don't find where i can install google playstore and android apk.
I've gone in fydeos store -> chrome Apps -> play sotre, but it's web playstore and i can't install apps on my fydeos.
When i go on fydeos store -> android Apps -> There are only WPS and microsfot apps.
Can you help me please ?
Up
Any solution ?
I think the Fydeos fork expects apps to be sideloaded. This version is targeted to China and I don't think the play store works there. More here.
Edit:. You may want to read through this thread.
Version 8.21 came out and it has an option to flash OpenGApps. It only works when FydeOS is installed to the hard drive, though.
Type the following commmands:
"sudo mount -o remount rw /" and press Enter
"cd etc" and press enter
"vim chrome_dev.conf" and press enter
Press 'Page Down' to get to the end of the file and then delete the lines that have zh-CN.
After that, the last line must be "--arc-start-mode=always-start", so change to it if you need

Follow above.
Install openapps from Fyde OS - Store.
Working for me on v9.1 - Google Playstore - Asus laptop.

This threads steps worked for me.
May not work for others, unfortunately.

is it such hard to root GameLoop 7.1.2

GameLoop is an Android Emulator which has two different variants
old GameLoop based on Android 4.4 (i am NOT talking about this variant)
new GameLoop based on Android 7.1.2 (i am talking about this variant)
In the setting of GameLoop there is an option about "abd debugging" and "root authority"I activated both of them.
If we don't activate them, the emulator doesn't shown in "adb devices"If we activate them, the umlator shown in "adb devices"
And we can use other adb commands.
But, it is not enough. In the emulator we cant use root authority. For example, we cant use titanium backup application.Because, root management apps don't work properly (magisk, supersu vs...)Becuse, supersu binaries is absent
I can not use root access in the emulator.
i have watched nearly all the videos on Youtube
i have read nearly all the articles on the web
Still i can not do this!
it's been a matter of pride for me
I am not a developer,
If a developer prepare an article how to do this , or record a video, i can do this
Please help me?

In fact, you can use rooted adb on gameloop 7.1 (AOW Engine) And you can install supersu, replacing the binary with adb -e push
The problem is that by doing that, all calls to "su" will trigger a driver_exception BSOD because there is a driver blocking it (AOW_DRV.SYS) Unfortunately there is no way around this as the entire AOW Engine runs on that driver. I guess Gameloop devs did this to prevent cheaters from using apps like Gameguardian that require root. Unfortunately so far there is no way or any method to do it, I'm just waiting for someone to do enough RE to the driver to bypass it.
Gameloop has another engine based on Virtualbox (Standard Engine) The latter can be easily rooted via adb. Even with a little work you can unpack android_system_disk.vdi and patch 2.img (boot image) to install magisk and then repack .vdi again.
The thing is that you will not be able to play games like PUBG or CODM on this engine.
The grace of this emulator is being able to use it to run games, I know there is no other that compares to it, but unfortunately the only alternative to be able to play and have root access is to use bluestacks 5 or you can also downgrade the version of gameloop to the one based on android 4.4, but this version is currently obsolete for current games and it's even worse than bluestacks in performance, it also doesn't support more than 60 fps
