{Guide-Windows} Removing the Lenovo Paper App - Lenovo Yoga Book Guides, News, & Discussion

After a certain Windows update Lenovo Paper decides to pester you with a UAC prompt with each and every boot! If you're sick of it like I was and would like to remove the program I will explain how in this short guide. The only thing Lenovo Paper does is provide a popup shortcut to OneNote when you press the pen button on the keyboard, that's it! Everything else functions exactly the same with Lenovo Paper removed.
Guide
Method 1:
1. Hold the Windows Key and tap R on your keyboard. Enter "taskschd.msc" into the Run box.
2. Scroll down to "Active Tasks" in the center column.
3. Locate and double click "LenovoPaper". If it isn't listed click refresh and check again.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. In the right-hand column click "delete".
5. Sign out of your account.
6. Sign back into your account and delete the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\LenovoPaper" folder.
Method 2:
Paste the following text into Notepad and save it as "RemoveLP.reg". I have included a premade REG file as well.
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\LenovoPaper]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tasks\{581929DB-ECDC-47BA-8BA5-9E8DB58C2218}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\bam\UserSettings\S-1-5-21-3209572867-2098836868-865137110-1001]
"\\Device\\HarddiskVolume4\\Program Files (x86)\\Lenovo\\LenovoPaper\\LenovoPaper.exe"=-
[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3209572867-2098836868-865137110-1001\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Compatibility Assistant\Store]
"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Lenovo\\LenovoPaper\\LenovoPaper.exe"=-
2. Merge the REG file to delete all of the registry keys Lenovo Paper creates.
3. Reboot your Yoga Book.
4. When the Lenovo Paper UAC prompt appears SELECT NO.
Clicking YES allows Lenovo Paper to launch, recreating the registry data and locking the program files.
5. Delete the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\LenovoPaper" Folder.
Now you can enjoy a prompt free log in once again!

Thanks

Excellent I am glad you found this helpful.

THANK YOU!
Not only did you solve this for me, but also you are the first to actually explain what in the world LenovoPaper actually did.
Now I don't get the annoying UAC prompt, NOR does my Yoga open OneNote shortcut every time I activate the pen.
So three benefits from your post: 1. now I know what LenovoPaper does, 2. stopped the UAC prompt, and 3. stopped the OneNote shortcut. If only Lenovo support were as clear and conscise as you.
Again, thank you.

Thank you very much. I am happy for this !

I found very nice app yesterday on Play store, its a FREE file manager with same or maybe even more functions than root explorer plus it has much nicer UI (I think). Its only beta but very nice to try. (it also have permission change etc).
Main features:
1. Two independent panels for browsing
2. Drag and Drop inside and between panels
3. FTP, SFTP and SMB/CIFS clients
4. File sharing via FTP
5. Support for ZIP, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2 and RAR archives
6. Creating ZIP and TAR archives
7. Dropbox and Box support
8. Bookmarks
9. Root access
10. Indexed search, also available from the system (that means that you can search for files from the Google Search widget/app)
11. Detailed file and directory information
You can download it free from Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solid.explorer&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInBsLnNvbGlkLmV4cGxvcmVyIl0.
this app was made by: Krzysztof Głodowski
downloading now, nice app.
Trying to use it but now can you set it to read write..... Every time I have selected a file to copy to system or data it gives error yet with root explorer it works..... Any ideas or help?

Great thx but big menu. How can little menu?
I would download this but I was a sucker and bought root explorer. If only this was available at the time.
I don't see the option for changing permission. where is that?
and it doesn't ask for permission. I think ftp isn't working too.

[REQUEST] "OEMInfo" file from Honor 4X Che2-L11 C636B360

Greeeeetings.
Is there anyone here that owns, upgraded to Che2-L11 V100R001C636B360, and rooted their device?
The download for the version is; http://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/downloads/detail/index.htm?id=60764If true, may anyone please upload your "OEMInfo" file here? I've accidentally forgot to back it up, and completely lost it. There weren't one online for Che2-L11 that I've attempted to find.
Using "ES File Explorer Manager app" (enabled root explore within the app's settings), you can navigate to your root device, and get the OEMInfo file from the following path;
"dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/"
May anyone upload it here? Pretty, please?
Please be careful navigating around that part of device, accidental modification to the files within the root may brick your device.
Here's the much detailed explaination of how to get it, with pictures;
First, open ES File Explorer. This is how it is like, isn't it? You can open a menu that is rotated "iii" from the top left.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now, you can enable "Root Explorer" slightly at the bottom of the "Tools" drop-down category.
Next, scroll back to to the top where you'll find the "Local" drop-down category, select it, and select "Device /", which it will take you to your root.
Now, the root should be like this. Noticed that the first folder you'll see is the "dev".
That's right, from here, you have to navigate through the following folders.
"dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/"
Or in other words, "dev => block => platform => hi_mci.0 => by-name"
Scroll slightly down within the directory, and you should able to find "oeminfo".
Hold down your finger (long press) on the "oeminfo" file, until it gets selected like this. If so, then select the vertical ". . ." at the top right to bring down a menu.
The ". . ." menu are like this. There should be "Copy To". Select it.
The "Copy To" screen should be like this. Press the backward arrow "<-" until you see "Storage/SD Card 1", this is where you should copy the "oeminfo" file into.
Bravo! should should get a pop up message that the transfer should be complete. (hopefully).
You can then get the "oeminfo" file from your SD Card and send it over.
Thanks, awaiting response.
Much sincere appreciation.
Thanks!

[GUIDE] Export Your Kernel Adiutor Settings to init.d Script

Hi, there.
The reason I make this thread is just want to share some tips to export your Kernel Adiutor profile settings to make it as a script running via init.d on your device and also as a backup for reasons. Since I'm having some trouble with Kernel Adiutor such as fail to apply on boot on restart, reseting all of my tweaks for no reason after restart, switching from different ROMs, etc. that really grind my gears.
NOTE : I prefer doing this work on PC and using Notepad++ or other text editor since its more easier.
1. Make sure your device is already have working init.d
2. Open your Kernel Adiutor, make some tweaks and save it as a profile in Hamburger Menu - Profile
3. Go to /data/data/com.grarak.kerneladiutor/files/ and copy profiles.json to somewhere else
4. Open profiles.json in Text Editor and copy all of its contents to clipboard
5. Go to https://www.browserling.com/tools/json-to-text to convert .json to txt, just paste it on the text box provided and click convert!.
6. Copy the text inside the text box and create a new files, paste onto it.
7. From this point we will edit the lines and remove unused lines so pay attention to avoid deleting the useful one
8. As you can see there are lines begins with "command" and "path", delete all the lines that start with the "path".
9. After you done with that, next is ONLY delete the words "command" from all lines. you will see fewer lines of codes after all this step. Then don't forget to save it as file without extension ex. : 69mykernelsettings
10. If you want to make sure you did copy the correct code, just do quick cross-check from Kernel Adiutor - Profile and see Information and compare it to the profile you use with the file we just made.
11. Last step copy your file to /etc/init.d/ , dont forget to give it permissions rwxr-xr-x (0755) or it wont executed on boot.
Here are some screenshot example from my profile :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Maybe this method is so convensional and too much hassle but it works for me and if you have a better method feel free to share in this thread and give some feedback
Very helpful bro, thanks
