Hello,
I am running the latest update: ALP-L298.0.0.119(C636) and noticed that the default ringtone for one person is not working.
I tried to set a different tone for one contact and asked him to call me. The ringtone is the same with what I had set for everyone and not his specific tone.
Does any of you also encounter this? fix?
Thanks!

Hi Guys,
Few days before i faced a problem when interacting with the sms when ever i browse the threads of sms or delete sms or send sms or receive sms apart from notification sound i used to hear a sound like gsm buss please see the following video i made
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v693MX95-E
This problem arises only in custom roms and not in stock rom. Finally i fixed it by deactivating the Feedback Audible selection to off. Is it only for me or for some else too.
Im wondering if this is possible for the s2:
1. Profile changes
is it possible to changed profile for sounds? (like in older phones). I would like my phone to have a different ringtone while im at the office. A different ringtone while im outside and another different one while im at home. instead of wasting time changing the settings.
2. Personal Message tone.
Could I have a dedicated message tone for different contacts? I was able to change ringtones for different contacts but is this possible for message tone as well?
Im on stock ICS. Do i need to root?
1). The smallest amount of searching returned https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.softxperience.android.quickprofiles and about half a dozen others.
2). Considering my answer for 1), why not try searching yourself and let us know how you get on. Ten seconds of searching.
Thanks. but there are a lot of them and I cant seem to find a good one. here's what im planning to do.
Profile for work.ringtone disabled. message tone enabled. full vibrate for both.
Profile for outdoors: max vibrate and max sounds to ringtone and message tone
Profile for home: off vibrate and medium sounds to ringtone and message tone.
I cant seem to do that on the apps that ive tried. any suggestions out there?
Hello all,
I am since 3 days a proud owner of a S3
I found how to define an own ringtone to a single contact.
But today I was very surprised when I received a SMS the same ringtone which I expected only for incoming calls was ringing.
Does anyone know how to make it JUST incoming calls not all incoming activities of this contact?
Thanks
No one knows anything about it or is interessted in?
Dunno how or why you have the same ringtone as your SMS for your contact.
I've set a specific ringtone for my contacts and it's worked fine for me, SMS ringtones are the default one I set.
If you haven't tried already, go to the contact, press the menu button, Edit, then check to see the ringtone of the specific contact.
Hope that helps, if you have done this already and still getting the same ringtone for your SMS, it might be worth backing up your device, contents, contacts, then resetting the device again.
OK, I iopend contacts, klicked on the contact which I adressed a special ring tone.
in the list of the contact data there is a field ring tones, which gives me a choise of 3 (standard, ringtones, own files). I did choose the ringtone and it workes fine for incomming calles BUT it works unfortunatelly also for incoming sms or whatsapps ....
Is there no other solution except resetting?
I have fear resetting my device ... It is my first Android and I am not really familar with everything....
I love Steve's AOKP PUB Rom but I seem to have one really irritating issue upon using it. I set my ringtone and notification sounds to the ones i always use. Pyxis for Ringtone, and Don't Panic for notifications. Then i noticed that i was not hearing the sounds during incoming phone calls and texts. So i go into the sound setting to see whats up and they both have unrecognized sounds listed. When i try to re-establish the original setting all the choices are gone except for 2 or 3 instead of the usual several dozen. If i use Root Explorer to go into the media folder all the ogg files are still present. Sometimes they come back upon a reboot. Sometimes they dont. Anyone else seen this or know whats happening? Thanks.

Same here. I'm back of AOKPBRAVO at the moment because of the sound issues. One thing that helped me a bit was to disable vibrate with ring and have ring only but it still would lose the ringtone and on calls the screen would light up and i had missed calls because the ringtone wouldn't be recognized.
I have noticed this same issue and believe I have found a work around for the problem. First take off the Vibrate on incoming calls. Then in the root of your sdcard there is a ringtones folder. Make sure that the ringtone is in that folder. With some of these new roms, they will only play ringtones that are in that folder plus the default that the developer chooses. Go into contacts and set the ringtone for the contact. First I would do it as a test ringtone on a number you can call from. If you have the same ringtone for multiple people then you have to make a new copy of that file. It will only play it for the last contact you assign it too. That is how I cleared my troubles with it. Hope this works out for you.
My Samsung Galaxy SII with CyanogenMod 10.1.3-i9100 (stable) has the weirdest ringtone problem: if my wife calls the ringtone is the one I've assigned for her, if the next caller is unknown, it rings with my wife's ringtone, not with the default one... This happens with any of my specific ringtone contacts. I've no idea where to start looking for the problem. All my sets are ok, I'm no noobie and I know what I am doing. I think the problem comes even from a previous custom ROM, can't remember for sure.
I thought an app called Group Ringtones might be the culprit, uninstalled - same thing.
Any ideas?
Thanks
