]The Nebula Mars, which is made by an offshoot of Anker, comes with a custom OS running on Android 4.4. For the unfamiliar, it offers a decent projector in a small size, combined with a battery for portability.
Since this isn't a phone running a typical phone ROM, I'm hesitant to root it and start tinkering, but the stock OS and software is absolute crap. The system allows updates and installation of APKs, but the company says they have no intention of issuing a firmware/ROM update.
Any advice on where to find others who have this device and are also interested in modifying the OS or updating to a newer version of Android? Any recommendations on approaches to non-destructively modifying the OS? I don't think it has a separate partition for restoring prior ROMs, and I'm just inexperienced enough that I'd end up bricking it.
Same question about the Nebula Mars Lite model
So I webd to Walmart and found that they sell the lite model for $349. The problem is that there is no android at all. I am not sure if the hardware is any different because both models look identical. I wonder if there is a way to either install the original mars OS on it or something better ie costom rom of some kind.
Hey ! I'm also interesting in upgrading the OS of my nebula Mars... Any news for this project? Thanks !

just grabbed the Lite version ($180 at my walmart) and it looks like it is running android (lollipop it looks like, PC shows "lollipop" when connected to the wifi settings page) but it's locked away behind it's launcher...
that's all I was able to figure out.
Nebula Mars 2 is on the market with Android 7.1. Anyone trying to port it to Mars 1 please?

Hi there!
i am new to the kindle tablets and on looking into this branch of xda
i am confused as i dont know which ROM i can use.
to make it short: i want a stock Android on my hdx7.
thanks und cheers
el loco
As far as i know there os only one Rom available here, called hdx nexus. Should be stock Android. I actually cant flash it for testing, because i have a wrong software version installed. If someone knows how to downgrade from 13.3.2.5 to 13.3.2.4 please post a link/tutorial or something like that.
I'm in the same situation as Arthuro88. My HDX 7 is running Fire OS 4.5.1 and I can't use the root technique I found (or towelroot). Has anyone found a way to root this version yet?
I got one of the last, apparently old, HDX's in the store. Luckily for me it had the older firmware on it and I knew better than to register it with Amazon right out of the box. I rooted the device, installed Safestrap, and then realized that Nexus 2.0.1 required a new rev of the firmware. So I upgraded *manually* to the mid-release firmware (the newest older version that was still rootable), hit it with Towel to root it, and flashed it to Nexus 2.0.1. All in all it is a VERY nice ROM. It works extremely well, and has only crashed on me once. My problem with it is that it doesn't support the 4G/LTE radio in my version of the HDX. To be clear: the WiFi works fine, but not the cellular carrier signal I'm getting charged for monthly.
So again- go with Nexus 2.0.1.
As for me, my original plan was to get Kali Linux running on my HDX. I'm shelving that for now and trying to port Firefox OS (Mozilla's Linux-based OS for phones and tablets) to the HDX. None of the "Big Brother" crap from Amazon (FireOS) or Google (Android). Plus it's completely open for development and all apps are basically Javascript_HTML5/CSS since it's web-oriented in its philosophy. I'd post a link but I'm still under my 10 post count. If anyone is interested in helping with the porting project I have a thread already started on this forum.
Hello, and thanks to all who take the time to read this and offer their support.
To everyone else... just hello.
Okay.
I have a few of those cheap Chinese 7" tablets so common on e-Bay these days. For the price, most of these are okay and seem to run fairly well "as-is" without having to spend a lot of time rooting them or installing CFW. This one however is just a little bit different.
Here's the deal... The tablet I'm going to be addressing in this thread has a ROM that was not customized for the retailer very well. The particular combination of apps and services it has causes the tablet to perform horribly. I'd really like to change this. The problem is however that because there are so many of these around these days, many of these generic units have not been "developed." Because of this, rooting these devices or replacing the ROM's is often very difficult if not downright impossible. At times, even identifying the specifics of the hardware. This tablet is one of those.
I've tried just about everything I can think of to simply modify the ROM it has in a way that would make it work better, but there are a few apps installed that are locked and impossible to modify or remove. I've come to the conclusion at this point that if possible, installing a custom ROM is going to be the only way to "fix" it. I have been able to root the device, but I have not been able to replace the recovery app , nor have I been able to identify a ROM that might be able to be installed once I do.
What I need from you folks.
If I supply every scrap of information I can come up with about this tablet, would someone please be willing to tell me which ROM just might work, and how I can use the recovery app that's installed to install it? If so, thank you.
Here's the information.
Options available in the installed recovery app.
A. Apply update from ADB
B. Apply update from external storage.
C. Apply update from cache.
Here's the tablet information.
Brand: ZTO
Model: N1 PLUS (Generic Chinese 7" tablet)
Android version: 4.1.1
Baseband version: v0.4rc3
Kernal version: 3.0.8+
Build number: N1 PLUS_wifi-7601_V4.1.1 JR003C 20131202
And again, Thank you.
Hi,
I am thinking about buying a GP90 LCD projector, which comes in two flavors: The default version with Android 4.4 preinstalled, and a cheaper version with no Android preinstalled.
Can someone help me understand what my options are with the cheaper version? Am I right that it would be either risky or impossible to install some "general" Android version on the projector, so that most likely I'd have to get the stock version (which I probably won't be able to obtain anywhere) or install a custom ROM that has been tailored to suit this exact device (which probably doesn't exist)?
Thanks!
Hello, I recently bought a GT1. I would have liked to switch to Android TV but none of the available roms is compatible with my box, each time it's a brick, forced to flash the basic rom. Looking better, I did not find a compatible ROM with my serial number starting with LPN1. Do you have a track to flash something that works or there is nothing available?
best regards

I just flashed https://www.atvxperience.com/download/s912-v2ff-ddr-lpddr-ram-18-oct-2018/ successfully on mine.. Used the s912_LPDDR_atvXperience_v2FF.img file.. So far so good.. Flashed using USB to USB, and USB burning tool 2.1.6.. Android TV 7.1.2.. LPN1 32g/3g ddr4.. Only one I've found so far but was worried about hard brick so waiting till someone else confirmed it
Edit: Well, not sure now.. Seems every app that I've downloaded (Kodi, Chrome, VLC, the usual) minus showbox works fine but a lot of the apps that were originally on there (atvx apps) just crash out.. May have been a bad flash or I'm missing something simple. Will try reflashing later but it definitely doesn't brick it..
Hi, this version is compatible with the serial number LPN1? By reflashing all your applications work

It doesn't matter what the serial number is. All that matters is the architecture of the components of the ROM you're installing match up with the architecture of the box you have. In your case, any of the ROMs supporting the Amlogic s912 Octocore chipset should work on a Beehive GT1 Ultimate.
It sounds like a mistake you're making in the flashing process that is bricking your device, not the fault of the actual ROM.
Anyone know where to get Android 9.0 firmware for gt1_313M0 ? Is Android 6.0.1 really the final version of Android for this?!?!
Hi all
I have a Tecno Spark 5 kd7s, which I now immensely regret buying.
I bought it after hearing a sales pitch from the lady, even so the specs are still impressive, and I love the camera.
Only thing, is HiOS (on which the Android system is based) is filled with adware, and bloatware, and there is no way of uninstalling the apps. The phone is sluggish, and certain apps simply crash. If there would be a way to remove this rubbish HiOS, and install a generic version of Android. If that was possible, this phone would be an incredible device, I've just had it with HiOS
If anyone is able to assist, it would be great.
Thanks in advance.
GSI (Generic System Image) is what you are looking for.

There are GSI(generic system image) ROMs, but they are built specific to your hardware architecture. Find out what your device's CPU architecture is and then try finding GSI ROMs for that CPU architecture.
Some devices require some modification before they can install a GSI ROM, you'll have to do some researching to discover whether or not you need to do anything to prepare your device to be compatible with the GSI before you try installing the GSI.
GSI ROMs themselves are "generic", but that doesn't necessarily mean that it works on all devices with the CPU architecture that it was built for and the process of installing the GSI is not necessarily the same for all devices.
